Guys! I don't know why I came up with 54 stitches for the foundation chain! It is actually 37 stitches for the foundation chain (36 HDC in total) Then 29 rows to complete the adult size hat I'm sorry for the confusion, this is why some of you guys were saying that it needed more than 1 skein of yarn to finish this hat, you should be able to make an adult hat with 1 skein
CJ Design you know I actually like it better with 54 stitches! Lol I like the size of the brim and it kinda makes it more slouchy ☺️ thanks for posting!!
Great video!! Just made the hat. I did the 37 chains (36 hdc) and 29 rows. I only used 1 skein of the essentials. I also made the neck warmer to match. That used 1 skein also. It makes a nice set. Made them for Christmas 🎄 presents.
Beth Hayes - sorry to hear you need to do it again. 🙁 She did make a correction and I happened to see it before I started it. The hat and neck warmer sets I made, everyone I gave them to , they loved them.
Thank you very nice tutorial! For the commentators 100grans of yarn = 170 yards medium weight just like our teacher said 57 stitches will give you this very beautiful and quick and easy hat. And you should have some yarn left over may be for the pompom😁. 😘😘thank you for this tutorial.
Thank you for sharing such an easy to follow and very descriptive video tutorial of this easy pattern and beginner friendly crochet hat. I just love the pattern!! I can’t wait to make it too!! Thanks again CJ!! It’s an awesome hat!!
I did 45 foundation stitches before reading the comments. I swear I could hide a small child in the top of my hat now 😂 I also used size 5 bulky and needed almost 2 full balls
I made this hat b4 the correction and it came out horizontally. I'm now making the hat per the 37 foundation chain and it needs to be longer - 39 rows for it to be vertical.
If using extra bulky yarn like I did I think going 30 stitches instead of 36 will be much better, mines came out extra long and looks like a slouchy hat which is still cute. I will definitely try it again.
Could you please edit the video to show the 36 chains for foundation stitches. Never thought to look at your comments and now three balls of yarn in to completing and now know why. You do a great job, this fix ON the video would go a long way...thanks!
Thanks, going to start this right now. Great video, your delivery is so clear and easy to follow. 🤗 I might even do 44 stitches, can I do that? Does it matter how many you start with?
Thank god I read the correction for the chains before I started this . But I would like to know how much would I chain if I was using a medium size yarn.
@@traciwhite8194 I just made a couple of these hats with Lion Brand Heartland yarn, which is a thinner 4-ply and is super soft. I started with a chain of 46, so each half double crochet row was 44, and I crocheted 51 rows. I also made one with a skein of Caron Simply Soft, and it turned out nicely. Also, I used a size H crochet hook.
Thank you for this beautiful video. However, I did have a question. Is there any specific reason why when you go to a new row you chain 1 instead of the usual 2 for a half double crochet? I have seen this not only on your video, but another as well. I tried to chain only one but that was giving my fabric a funny shape, so I went back and stuck with chain 2, and that seems to be working out fine.
CJ Design I have a question. the rim of my hats aren't perfectly straight. Where you start slip stitching the rim has like an upside-down "V" shape in the rim. How do you slip stitch both edges together so the rim of the hat is even?
@CJ Designs Hi!! I'm a new subscriber (2 minutes new.. lol) I was searching for a hat to make for two of my r brothers. Could this be good for adult male? I know they will not like pom poms though and that so sad to me! Will the hat look stupid if I leave the pom poms off? I think it's going to look so bare naked. Oh well, what can you do, you know? But these hats look super easy! Thanks for posting this tutorial and Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🌲 🎁⛄🎅🤶 🌲
Should of read comments, now I have to re-do it. Also 29 rows feel tight. That could be my tension I suppose, Im using a plastic hook could that make a difference.
She put up a message that said the foundation chain should be 37 chains in total, which will turn out to be 36 HDCs for the adult hat. The length is still 29 rows.
@@xavierperry6756 I just saw this video today. I will be making one but with a worsted weight 4 yarn because it has to match with a scarf I made the person. So now she wants the matching hat with the brim.

I know this video is a year old and I don’t even know if this comment will be read, but just a suggestion for further projects from A seasoned crocheted, you might want to let people know how much yarn is needed to make a project so people so go and purchase too much yarn or not enough to make a project. I made one of your other hats yesterday and in that tutorial you did mention how much yarn it took , but this tutorial you did not so I was not sure how much I needed. Jeanne

I too created the hat per the video. It was really long, glad you posted about the change. Bad news, I have to start all over again...ugh!

Wonderful project. Very straight forward. I am making this for sure. Thank you!
Very easy hat to make, I was given some yarn for Xmas and I’m gonna make a couple these for the winter 👍🏽

This is one of the easiest hat tutorials I have seen.
روعه وسهله تسلم ايدك بجد وشرح وافي
Thanks for correcting I love this hat
I made this with the “corrected” stitches, and it is still massive! I might try it again with less stitches to see if that works.
Love it, made mine with red beanie and white pompom!
Wonderful hat!! Will make a few for my kids in their favorite colors. Thank you for the tutorial:)

What amount of chains would be suitable for a 6 year old child please? Xx

Cute. Did you make the pain pompoms and can you tell us how?
Great Tutorial! Thanks so much! I can't wait to make some of these!!....Vicki
Can I do this with Medium 4 yarn?
I'm going to try this hat but at the moment I only have double knit yarn! What size hook would you recommend for it please
i do 50 foundation chain because i like a wider brim.
Love it
If you could do that half double crochet a little slower it would be so nice for the beginners.
You can slow the video down. Go to the three dots at the upper right of your screen. There's an option to view at different speeds. 🌹

How did you make your labels? I would love to make my own. Thanks
I would like to know measurements. How long the rows should be for an adult hat. What is the circumference for adult hat?
marlene love your hat
What size crochet hook are you using? Tia
Your items are so lovely
how many foundation chains and rows would it be for a category 4 yarn?
Sizes please for kids please
Where did you buy the pompom?
Where could I find name tag to put on the edge of the hat? Thsnk you.
Well...guess I have to start over now🥺

Would you be able to do a video of this same hat but with a different coloured brim?
I will 😊
Any one know like how long this takes to make on average? trying to figure out if I have enough time to make two of them by christmas.
Hi, I already have my logo, where can I have the little square?
Hi !! How do I attach the Pom Pom ?

How many inches does the 29 rows.reach?
What is the name of colour?
Does this use just 1 ball of yarn?
Yes 😊
En tu blog no puedo acceder a las medidas del gorro. Gracias por compartir, explicas muy bien.
I mush have a big head cause I did 29rows and its too small 😔
She meant 37 look at her comment
I’m using the same yarn & needle with 50 foundation chains & 29 rows, but I’m ending up with less yarn.. what am I doing wrong?
Maybe you’re crocheting a little bit loose 🙂
She put up a message that said the foundation chain should be 37 chains in total, which will turn out to be 36 HDCs for the adult hat. The length is still 29 rows.
I saw.. have. You tried this project? Did you only use one skein of the soft essentials brand?

Why do my rib stripes go around not up and down
HOW DO YOU MAKE THE POM POMS?
Bought them on Etsy
How to make pom pom?
Just about finished and the only person who can wear it is Marge Simpson. 🤷🏼♀️ Need to start over 🤦🏼♀️
