Hi! I am just trying this hat. I am trying to make it toddler size but can’t seem to get the last rows to look like the adult size. How many rows would I have to do? Thanks
All instructions I've seen for crocheting in the round do a ss to join, then however many chains the pattern calls for and then continue working in the round. That method creates that dreaded slanted seam. But you turn your work after joining and you have a perfectly straight seams! I love that. I am so glad I came across your tutorial. Also, your instructions are very clear and easy to understand. You do an excellent job of teaching.
Thank you. I'm quite new to crochet and managed to follow this pattern easily and the finished hat looks great:). For the brim of the hat I found that 50 rows was too small so I did 58 instead. If I made this hat again I would add an extra row of half double crochet to make it a little taller as I like my ears to be well covered!
I just finished my first one and it is too small! I did 52 rows, so I am going to have to increase as well. I agree it needs to be a little taller. I am going to add 1-2 more rows as well.
Just finished this hat for my sister who has VERY curly hair and a big head, I did 58 stitches across and added 2 extra rows of half doubles in the middle. I really appreciated this design, it was easy to follow and turned out beautifully. thank you!!
This was the best video for explaining and taking it slow and letting me see every angle how mine should be looking..very pleased tried 3 already just didn't work out not enough detail as this was
Hey Dani, Happy New year and good health. I just finished the this beanie (my 2nd). This one turned out really well, no not perfect but I whipped it off in an afternoon! I am so proud of myself. I’ve been crocheting for 4-5 mos and loving it. Love this pattern , I looked for something else there are no 6,5 hooks here. I’m sending this from Greece …so anyway did the rib with 6 and the body with 7 so I changed the dec slightly. I absolutely love it, thank you so much for your efforts
I made this hat for an intern in the office but hadn't put the pom-pom on yet - the men in the office love this hat and now I'm making several for the men as a beanie without pom-pom. Thanks again for sharing the video! I'm getting addicted to this pattern! :-)
Frances Downey Have you had a chance to make the mens’ hats yet? I want to make one for a guy and I was wondering if it fit them. I’m thinking of using a chunkier yarn and a bigger needle.
I love this hat!! I have made three of them now :-) The problem I have had with many crochet hats is that they were not warm enough during the winter, this one definitely is! :-) Thank you!
We’re making some crochet hat for the homeless in Calgary and this is by far the easiest one!!! Thank you for sharing and make it sooo easy to understand. :)
That's awesome. Our teacher taught us how to crochet after our exam today and I just finished the brim in about the same time it took you to make four whole hats 😂 and the middle I lost count a lot so it gets thinner... but oh well. I'm proud of myself since it's my first time crocheting!
Thank you! I love this pattern - it was easy to do and one of the most consistent patterns I've tried for making hats. I'll be using this pattern for my family to make holiday hats!
Hi, I just finished your tutorial, but have a few questions... On row 8.. start the decreasing.. I wish you would have said it is a half double crochet two together and shown the actual stitch once or twice clearly.. I had to go to another persons video to get a reminder on how to actually do the half double crochet two together stitch... as well as when you finish that row number 8.. do you chain one and then just continue on the sequence? Or do you simply just keep going and just leave out that chain one that you had been doing on every single row before now?? I am also assuming that now you are working in continuous rounds and not turning your work at each row but as you never actually said... I dont know but I hope this is correct? Also once you are done that.. and you are on row 11 And just doing the half double crochet two together decreases when you come to the end of that first row of decreases do you slip stitch to join or?? And do you flip your work again or do you work.in continuous rounds?? Is it two rounds/rows of continuous decreases or just one row of decreases at this point as you do not say?? After that you say to do decreases with slip stitch?? What actual stitch is that? I have no idea because you just say twice to do decreases now just with slip stitch but you do not actually show HOW to do this stitch you are talking about. I finished the hat doing half double crochet two together and stitching the tiny hole at the top closed.
This is my exact problem and the reason why I am searching the comments. I wish she was a bit slower and more detailed with her descriptions. I have reached row 8 and have no idea what she is doing after that! Gah!
When I finish the brim and half double crochet around, where would I find the stitches or how would I count it to make sure it's 50 stitches? That part is where I always make the mistakes.
Hi Danii. I just came across your channel and watched this tutorial and your Alps knit hat tutorial and was very impressed with the ease of the patterns and how easy it was to listen to you and follow along, so I've hit the subscribe button and look forward to future videos from you.
Thank you so much for this easy tutorial! This is the first hat I've ever made and it turned out beautifully! I can't believe you helped me make something that looks professional. The only problem I had was that it's too short. I used the same yarn and hook and followed the same number of stitches and rows. The head band part is perfect, but the hat itself is short. So next time I will add a few more rows before I start decreasing. I think it will fit a teen maybe. Either way, it looks so beautiful. Thank you so much!
Shannon ` I haven’t tried this, but I would suggest crocheting the brim so that is is a bit thinner and so that it fits around the child’s head. Then I would do less rows and start decreasing sooner. If that doesn’t work, I’m sure that there are other child size hat tutorials out there
Hazel Dye I made this hat and it turned out pretty great. I have been searching UA-cam far and wide for a chunky, crochet kids hat (size 9-11 years old) and can’t find what I’m looking for. I can’t read patterns, I’m a beginner and I still have difficulty modifying patterns to different sizes. I’m going to try this with this pattern. I hope it works. 🤞🏼
Hi Mam thank you so much for this wonderful hat tutorial I made one for my 2 yrs old son came out superb😍😍😍😍 very clear instructions and explanations. ..Thank you😙😙😙😙
I'm pretty sure you would add more of the HDC only rows. It could be you are using the wrong hook? If it fits around the head, then add the additional rows. If it fits tight, I would use a bigger hook.
I just tried making this hat....next time I will add stitch markers because I lost track of my rounds and made the hat too short (my problem, not yours...lol). My one request would be to explain how to decrease the hdc. Even though I watched and rewatched, a slower verbal and visual explanation would be helpful. If someone is experienced, they will fast forward to the next part.
Entrê a ver por que se llama Valdivia hat, y vi en tu facebook que eres de chile, que genial! me encantan tus tutoriales. Yo tambien soy de Chile pero vivo en Quebec :) Saludos!
Well I chained 8 for the brim and did 77 rows. Which of course turns into 77 hdc when you start on the top of the hat. On row 11 I started the decrease since my hat is for a large man.
Tyler Curtis thanks!! I just measured mine for my head idek how much I chained tbh😭 it’s not as stiff as hers is but I think that’s because of the yarn
I finally wrote the pattern down with all the final measurements!
You can find everything for free on my website!

I just finished this hat in less than 2 hours. Thank you for being so clear and precise. I loved the outcome and so did my daughter.

Thanks so much loved the pattern🤗🤗🙏🙏
If I wanted to make one for my son ( who is 3 months atm) would I just make less rows? You had 50 so I would make for example 20?
I would just make the band smaller (hold it up to his forehead to decide how many chains, and make as many rows as it takes to fit his little noggin.
Just made this hat. Turned out beautifully!
Really cute and easy and I made two in one evening. I am making hats/beanies for chemo patient and this is a perfect hat!! Thank you.
This is awesome. Great instructions, made it on the first try! THANKS

Very nice hat. I liked your instructions they were easy to follow.

Love how simple this is. Thank you for sharing
Thank you! This hat is amazing. I knew there was an easy way to make the rim. You have figured that out. Love the style.
🙂🙂🙂🙂
I made this hat, and it was nice! 😊 thank you
I have just made 4 of these in like3 hours! Love it!

Love this hat. Can’t wait to get started on this project. Thanks for sharing.

Could an adult man use this same size or do you have a size for a man? Thank you
Obviously not same size. Men's circumference is approximately 22 to 23 in so I'd work my band accordingly. Then go from there
@@sherit8594 thank you ever so much 😊 you do beautiful work & so easy to follow you.
It helped a lot ☺️ thanksss
Thanks for this video
So far I’ve made 2 of these hats and looking forward to making another

Do you know what needle size I can use the worsted yarn?
If I wanted to use a different yarn and do this by measurements....what measurements would I be looking for?
Head circumference and length 😊
Hi Danii. I just came across your channel and watched this tutorial and your Alps knit hat tutorial and was very impressed with the ease of the patterns and how easy it was to listen to you and follow along, so I've hit the subscribe button and look forward to future videos from you.
Lovem, they look like cupcakes. For a toddler size how many stitches. For an adult you did 50
OMG CJ! You have over 160,000 views! Congratulations!
Could I use weight 4 yarn ? Love the tutorial by the way! Thank you!
Yes you can but you have to increase your brim and the body of your hat
Super cute!
Beautiful!!
what are measurements before decrease? including brim.
Are you able to show a left handed tutorial
Hi, this is great! I was wondering if there are written instructions anywhere? Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much for this easy tutorial! This is the first hat I've ever made and it turned out beautifully! I can't believe you helped me make something that looks professional. This is beautiful and easy
Thank you
Please make a matching cowl
Good idea! 💕 I will 😊
Yes! Or a scarf! I'm making this hat to fit my husband without the pom pom!! I would love a scarf to match!!
What do I do differently in my yarn is a medium 4 ?
If anyone tries this in toddler or children's sizes could you please share how you adjusted the pattern to fit!
Shannon ` I haven’t tried this, but I would suggest crocheting the brim so that is is a bit thinner and so that it fits around the child’s head. Then I would do less rows and start decreasing sooner. If that doesn’t work, I’m sure that there are other child size hat tutorials out there

Where did you buy the Pom poms at?
Love it Tks where do you get the Pom Pom ?
My hat turned out so short!! What part of the body do I add more rows?
