The emotion of the song revolves around Chris Degarmo's daughter who suffered severe nightmares (lucid dreaming). He's the guy playing the double guitar in this song. I've dreamed of singing this to my children and I haven't had any at 41 years old. I lost a child to miscarriage and I still sing this to them. Your mind can sometimes forget dreams over reality and you could truly believe they have died. But the support of someone being next to them to support them through can make all the difference. And you would be happy to know that Chris Degarmo now plays music with his daughter today. It's amazing and beautiful.

    "Silent Lucidity"
    Hush now, don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
    You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
    Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over... or has it just begun?
    There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
    Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
    Commanding in another world
    Suddenly you hear and see
    This magic new dimension
I- will be watching over you
I- am gonna help you see it through
I- will protect you in the night
I'm smiling next to you, in Silent Lucidity
Because of the lyrical content, and the title of the song, it is assumed to be based on the subject of "lucid dreaming". Here, a distorted voice even explains a method for this: "Visualize your dream. Record it in the present tense. Put it into a permanent form. If you persist in your efforts, you can achieve dream control."
    (Visualize your dream)
(Record it in the present tense)
(Put it into a permanent form)
(If you persist in your efforts)
    (You can achieve dream control)
    (Dream control)
(How are we feeling today, better??)
    (Dream control, dream control)
    (Help me)
If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
    The walls you built within
Come tumbling down, and a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dream's alive, you can be the guide but...
I- will be watching over you
I- am gonna help to see it through
I- will protect you in the night
I'm smiling next to you... Love to both of you... Love your video reactions... PEACE

What I love about true artists is that you can’t fit them into one clear box. I love when people discover that the same group that brought you Into the Eyes of a Stranger also can switch it up entirely and level you with Silent Lucidity. That’s the power and palette of an incredible artist such as Queensryche and the vocal performance of Geoff Tate in particular! Enjoy!

  • @miriamsamaniego3335

It’s nice to see young ladies go back to music that is decades old. Prior to Queensryche, Geoff Tate (lead singer) was in a band called, Myth. Geoff has probably the best and most prolific voice and range of all rock stars. I’ve seen them many times...the REAL Queensryche...and Geoff even serenaded me (I was in the front row) while singing, Promised Land.
Girls...put your headphones on and turn them up and listen to the album, Operation Mindcrime in its entirety. It is a story about a guy who falls for a forbidden love. The song, Suite Sister Mary, is so unbelievably awesome!!! He sings it with the woman he loves and it’s the only song by QR that is a duet. You will get goosebumps, I promise!!! The album came out in 1983 or 1984, I think, but the story and lyrics are more relevant today than they ever were.
Enjoy! And thanks for this video. There’s also an acoustic version of Silent Lucidity that you should listen to as well!!

    Nice one, ladies.
So the requests during the Halloween show finally paid off. You entered the Queensryche rabbit hole...
This one became their biggest hit and most likely their most famous song, and they well deserved it... BUT for the real Queensryche sound check out some songs from their early period (Live in Tokyo; like Take Hold of The Flame or Prophecy), Roads To Madness, or the Operation Mindcrime album (Eyes of a Stranger, I Don't Believe In Love, Suite Sister Marry, Revolution Calling...).
It's like Iron Maiden meets Rush, if you need something to compare it with.
Geoff Tate's voice will definitely blow you away. Tate and Dio, best metal vocals.
    Keep it rocking, ladies.

For those of us that grew up when these wonderful songs came out not only do we appreciate that they are great songs but they also bring back great memories. Life changing memories. First kisses, first loves. These songs are more than just music, they are time stamps in our life. Some, even reflect the paths that we've chosen in life based on the experiences that we have growing up listening to them. Just like others that can say the Beatles in The rolling Stones and steppenwolf and all the bands from the '70s, how they affected their lives and their generation. This generation shaped my life. Enjoy the songs, enjoy the feeling and the emotions that you feel when you listen to them. But most of all, let them create lifetime memories for you! If you really like this band Queensryche, fall asleep with a headphones on listening to their album operation mindcrime from the beginning to the end. It's one big story. Enjoy the ride.

I just subscribed to your channel and I have to admit that I am enjoying your reactions. As a child of the 60's I have had the pleasure of listening to so much music of all types. It brings me true pleasure when I watch the two of you not just react, but enjoy the music that I have for going on 7 decades now. Music is truly universal regardless of genre, style and form. You two prove that with every reaction. Than you for sharing these great songs and you reactions to them. Peace be with you and your family.

There's a game you can get on Xbox, PlayStation, or the PC called Rocksmith 2014 - this is one of the songs in that game and it will teach you how to play this song from start to finish. If you're serious about what you said, you could absolutely make this happen and it won't take years of practice or require tutors or private lessons. I won't go into tons of details, but you play a real guitar/bass, they teach you real techniques, and they have tons of tools to help you master the instrument. You can play certain parts of the song to practice, you can play things at slower speeds, they have videos inside the game to help you with technique, etc. I went from never holding a guitar to being able to play through the majority of the songs in that game at about 90-95% success rate without even practicing them beforehand. I can't recommend this enough if learning to play is something you want or have wanted to do.

The song is about a parent who is woken up by his child who has just experienced a terrible nightmare. And how the parents sooth their child, explaining about lucid dreaming and how to teach him to control his dreams. Then the parents smile as they watch over their child's sleep.

Glad you girls finally able get to this very deep beautiful song..
I was one of the probably many who suggested this couple months or so back..
Also shared this with a Woman (end 2007)she living in Indiana as we are separated by about 900+ miles..
Wont get into all of that emotion but sure when we both hear this reminds us of each other and perhaps we will talk again in time when right..
And the original meaning by the band is what it is and we all have our own feelings and experience..
She first mentioned to me her all time Fav song (I also love, we agree) growing up and HS Grad in the 80s as I..
Dream Weaver · Gary Wright 1975, another beautiful magical mystical song if you both not heard it yet..
And we shared that first, then I told her of Queensryche - Silent Lucidity, in her words very touching also..

I am a 1990s-2000s generation, but NOTHING can touch the 1970s-1980s hard rock/metal: that is where the best and greatest rock talents still are. You can play the least of them, or least heard of, or least appreciated, like Dokken, Grim Reaper, Wasp, Twister Sister, UFO, Warrant ("Heaven..." is a great one), Manowar, Stryper, Skid Row's "Remember Yesterday," and more, and they had more talent than any other decade(s).

  • @timlamb9428
    @timlamb9428 3 роки тому +1

I think that folk lore says only our bodys rest/sleep while our souls roam. And believe some scientist have theorized that as well. What the soul experiences is what we call dreams. There for if we can control what happens in our so called dreams we can go anywhere and do anything. Note how he watches over the kid probably his kid while the kid is sleeping which tells me he is visiting that kid in their dreams as well and letting the kid know it is safe and that he is there with them. I've told my daughter many times that while daddy can't be there physically I am there in spirit. I think the middle part where you can hear a girl whisper "help me" represents a child who needs guidance in their dream scape and when I hear that I think of my daughter maybe trying to visit me in spirit. Very deep emotional song. I have a hard time watching this without thinking of my kids I haven't seen in years without almost crying.

The song is actually about Lucid Dreaming. Dream control. It can be achieved by anyone if they try. You know you are dreaming and you control how your dream goes, you command it, instead of letting things just happen. One of the most beautiful songs I've heard in my lifetime and I am 56. It's nice to young people studying older music. Keep up the nice channel! You two are sweet. I would like my grandkids watch y'all!
