most young people do the struggle is getting them to listen and give a chance to music that isn't being played in the malls and everywhere else you go. Maybe isolation encourages people to move out of their comfort zone.

@@roybradshaw4252 if you qualified that with "in metal" I would be more inclined to agree...more so now than when she was with Nightwish though as her voice has matured a lot. For a lyrical singer the older you get (up to a point) the better your voice should get. That is a big part of why there are not a lot of young opera singers in lead roles.
Chris, i am 18 Years old an from Germany... 8 years ago i did not expectet that any one else in my Generation listen to Metal... But since 5 Years ive found a lot of Frends that listen to it .. Now i have hope to save this generation ... I work on it .. I share it to all my Frends, my Frends share it too ... ! I think the Hope is Real

The little girl in the middle ... she got it. She really got it! You just know she'll be back for more. As the saying goes, "here ... try this ... the first one's free." Floor and Nightwish hook another one.
I just like it that Floor is becoming a role model for young girls. She's such an ideal role model too. In every interview she gives, she comes off as being very humble and down-to-earth.
Long live Queen Floor.
She really is, but what makes her a good role model is that besides being incredibly talented and lucky to have come where she is now, she also works *very* hard to be where she is and to be as good as she is, without losing track of being kind and humble. But, she works so very hard - not just at developing and maintaining her vocal control, but also working to develop and maintain her core strength.

Since this is your first Nightwish experience, I'll give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan:
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Hey sweeties, it makes this old Metal fan so happy to see you enjoy this music.
The singer is Floor Jansen from Holland. We studied together classical singing and opera is a part of that. Floor is amazing in every way. She uses classical headvoice, sweet chestvoice and her belting rock voice changing constant and there are not many singers that do what she does. She is also sweet and married a Swedish Metal drummer from Sabaton. Big in Europe. They have a little daughter Freya (germanic Goddess) and they live in the mountains of Sweden. Die has horses too. Her bandmembers are Finnish and one of the best musicians. Floor is really sweet.
Classic and Metal go very well together, because they both need skills, lots of training and many metal musicians love to haar classic and are classical trained.

Enjoy music, make music. I am teaching my 3 girls hoe to sing and play guitar. They love it. Otherwise they dont have too, I want them to do what makes them happy. And you made me happy.

She's absolutely one of the best, but I couldn't declare any one singer THE best. "Commercial" or not, someone like Ariana Grande is a phenomenal singer as well. Talent knows no genre and doesn't care about how popular or obscure you are.

That is how you know a song is great, when it is 10+ minutes and they are like " It finished?" That song has the ability to pull you in and get so engrossed with all the emotions that you will feel, and all of a sudden it is over.
I love to see a new generation of young kids appreciate real music. It makes me so happy to see a band i have grown up listening to and going through all the changes in singers to finally hit a chord with the youth of today.

Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every word; so, no pressure on her to Bury that (9 second long)high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie; and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. I love watching these reaction videos and my biggest hope is that people follow and enjoy the Symphonic Metal path I was led to. Welcome to it.

Great reaction! This genre of music is known as Symphonic Metal. FYI: There were 82,000+ in the audience that night. GLS is the 13th of 15 songs that NW performed that night. I would recommend either 'Ever Dream' or 'Storytime' from the same concert. For your next Nightwish reaction. The singer's name is Floor Jansen. She is the 3rd and still current female lead singer of Nightwish (est. 1996) She had been with the band for little over 10 months at the time of this concert on 03 August 2013.

The band is from Finland, formed in 1996 by Tuomas Holopainen (composer/songwriter/keyboardist), Emppu Vuorinen (guitarist), and former vocalist Tarja Turunen. The current vocalist is the Dutch wonder, our Queen, Floor Jansen. There are also Marko Hietala (bass, acoustic guitar, male vocals) and Kai Hahto (drums) both from Finland and Troy Donockley (Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, bouzouki, backing vocals, guitars, etc.) from Britain. On this video the drummer was a former band member Jukka Nevalainen, who had to step aside because of health problems.

Nightwish songs you never know what you get the first time you hear one of their songs. Girls I think you are going to end up liking this band. They have been around a long time. Dear ladies, you are simply adorable. I loved watching your reaction and I have to give you two thumbs up for not losing your patience once, while the song was 10+ minutes long. I have seen grown adults reacting to this song and all they had to say was to complain about it being so long. You are very young but you obviously got a lot of subtleties, like the feeling of water, the rollercoaster vibe that almost every Nightwish song has. I am impressed, truly.

I always fast forward to see how people react to that last vocal bit. If they are unmoved, I don't bother watching the rest. The look on your faces was a reflection of how I felt the first time I saw/heard this, so yeah... you get it. Yes, I watched the whole video, of course. She can also growl, do full on opera vocals, and the bass player has an amazing voice as well! He sings in many of their songs! The keyboard player writes almost all of the lyrics and music, he's the true genius. Welcome to the Nightwish Army! You guys give me hope for your generation -- because I honestly feel like too many young people listen to music that is too musically simple. And you three young ladies are changing my mind, giving me hope that perhaps, the generation you are part of will love the kind of music that is such an inspiration.

Every song I have heard from this particular concert is the best version those songs. Idk what it was about this place, this crowd, this setup, but it perfected perfection for the band in my opinion.

Much like a thoroughly decent number of my fellow Nightwish Army members, I’m pretty addicted to watching the reactions of newcomers. That said, you three are the absolute best I’ve seen. You all just got SO into it! I can only sincerely hope that this has lead to the three of you exploring the massive world of both Nightwish and symphonic metal. Epica, Within Temptation, and Kamelot are my first recommendations.

You ladies are very perceptive in your comments. The Wacken concert is great. For something more recent, might I suggest "Yours is an Empty Hope" - Wembley 2015, and "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" - Buenos Aires 2018.
