Where did the time go? No matter, her beautiful voice and rich arrangements still hold up, actually outshine today's music. I have been lucky enough to see Basia in cocert 12 times. This song is amazing live. What an outstanding writer, singer and performer. And so humble too. A Perfect Diamond!
I empathize. I heard "Time and Tide" at my wife's company picnic in August of '96. I went over to ask the DJ the name of the artist since I'd been in the dark for so long. By the end of September 1996 I had every album that Basia had released; on cassette. Once I finally had a CD player in a vehicle (1998) I bought the lady's music on CD. So much fine music to appreciate of Basia's and now it's all right at our fingertips.

Do YOU hear a little Burt Bacharach in a couple of the songs? Songs that Dionne Warwick used to sing? I do. But their songs have the ability to have every country fall in love with their music! Now, this is an incredible Gift they have been given in which Basia and Danny passed on down to us, the world. Only certain artists keep great music alive for decades upon decades. Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, and Beatles, to name a few. Thank you for mentioning the harmonies!!! The Lady can do anything!!!!! Sing anything!!! What a GIFT!

That's something I have in common with the people of Poland. The first Brazilian music I liked was Sergio Mendes and Brazil '66. After that, it was Antonio Carlos Jobim, and then Tania Maria.
Looks like this was shot at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. I was fortunate to attend her show there. Only time I saw her live. Once in a lifetime talent - vocals, songwriting and co-production with Danny White. Brilliant albums, all of them.❤
Goodness, this video makes me feel old. I remember way back in '94 when she did come out to L.A. I actually got the privilege to see her live at the Greek. Of course, I was five at the time, so a lot of it is kind of hazy, but this song really brings those memories to the forefront of my mind. And, to this day, Basia is still my favorite jazz singer.
