Most of the cast has been reused since the haunting of house hill...same with bly manor. It's the same person who produced those shows too. Flanagan did all those shows
Something also to know in episode 1 is that we get brief glimpses of each kid as they die or right before they die and there is a different color saturation for each of them and I'm wondering if that is tied to maybe one of the seven deadly sins because they each die with a specific color saturation around them. Might be worth another look to catch it
Because I’m familiar with Flannigan’s work and the acting range of the actors in the show, I had very hard time getting into the show but realized I had to let go of preconceived notions and enjoy the show for what it was. It’s very different from his past work (haunting of hill house, Bly Manor, midnight mass, midnight club) but very similar at the same time. In that sense, I like the show so far. I especially enjoy seeing Carla Gugino in her role, this is my favorite of hers so far in the Flanagan universe. She’s so attractive yet so terrifying, its exhilarating. Can’t wait to see how it ends
The leftist propaganda was more jarring in this one, than his earlier works. I’m typically immune to most subtle innuendo, but it was so over the top throughout this series it made it difficult for the show to take a lasting grip on my increasingly short attention span.
@keithray9421 I would rather hear that because it's still better than the crazy conspiracy theories that come from the right side. Most of you people still think the 2020 election was stolen. SMH 🤦
Thanks to you I won't miss out on this series, I did not know it's out. I loved Haunting of Hill House. Will watch ep 1 first and then watch this review.
This show is so good. The actors that play the present day brother and sister are long time favorites if mine from Major Crimes and The Resident. Anyway the storyline is so interesting and weird but not in a bad way. Im on episode 4 and can't wait to keep watching.
Loved everything about this episode. I look forward to finishing the series this weekend & watching your reviews as I go along. Keep up the great work!
Flanigan is a genius honestly i am a fan of horror since Wes craven, Carpenter and Guillermo, Flanigan understand everything about the supernatural deities and whats needs to be done i can say that this serie i will rewatch again its to good and personally as someone whos deep into spiritual stuff theres some family's that have generational curses its disturbing but its the truth that explains it very well...
Oh my god thank you sooooo much for doing this. Great breakdown. I was super confused during this episode for some reason and this helped a lot. Great job!
Me being someone who is majoring in psychology; I really appreciate that this series was more centered on mental/psychological theme with bits of supernatural. It takes the viewers on a wide loop and as you realize it’s not like the other “house” productions it turns the central theme on itself and shows how psychology and supernatural phenomena are sometimes one in the same, it also touches on the concept of family and how sometimes things can be saved if only we opened our eyes to one another instead of fighting…I’m almost finished with the series. But I still watch these to piece together things I’ve missed or quite frankly can’t understand of bat. Waiting to see what’s next!
I just started this series! & I’m loving it! Had to come for a breakdown! I think Roderick & his sister sold their souls to the “devil” or “angel of death” & that’s why his children are dying
I thought her rising was symbolic more towards here faith as it’s was Jesus did & she was screaming at them hours before about having faith….. but as this does have a lot of Poe references I might be off track
This makes me think of Trump, this seriously is basically about him and his family, ‘The Fall of The House of Trump’, especially with the quote from Verna when she says ‘I can stand on 5th Avenue’. This is a quote directly from Trump and he too was untouchable…. Until now… His fall is about to begin folks.
This is ot a Breakdown, it's just a recap. I'd have expected a thoughtful analysis of references to the work of Edgar Allan Poe and easter eggs. Not a retelling of what I already saw.
I like how tight these series are; the haunting series and this one, it’s tight and cozy (family centred) while being horrific.
It only gets gorier
Shit check out black mass he made that limited series to very good
I thought she looked dead but since they're just teenagers, they buried her a bit prematurely. Used to happen all the time Poe's day.
The jester inside his car was a nod to “Hop-Frog,” a story about a court jester who takes revenge on his king.
I really loved that they reused cast from Midnight Mass.

Bruhh midnight mass was so good it made me watch all his shows he made

Great catch
Where are the glimpses?
@@ivyvines either middle or near end of episode one, in one of the scenes between Roderick and Auguste.

what great cinematography and progression right off the bat. I cant wait to watch more. These explanations help simplify key moments

I binged this series in a matter of days and feel like binging it again lol. I love Poe's work.
@@blossom86branche70 Yes, I plan to rewatch it as soon as I finish catching up on 30 coins.
The teenage sister and brother sleeping in the same bed seemed odd.

Appreciate it and yes the series gets better and better

I’m pumped for this one! So far so good. I thought it would be a bit scarier but I’m sure I will be shook soon enough 😅

AND it’s a nod to Oxy and Purdue.
His mother still being in the house decades after her death, can someone address that, I want to know what the story is on that
I don’t think it was diverse enough. 😂
