      I cried throughout whole episode. I don't understand how they did it, but this show was not only scary on the basic horror level, but more importantly it was emotionally scary. Maybe it's the way they portrayed all the characters that made me feel somehow attached to them... I don't know. All I know is that I have never cried this much watching a horror.

    Can people stop saying Nell killed herself please. Nell thought she was putting on a necklace, she didn't intend to kill herself, nor did the house kill her, not directly anyways, the house tricked Olivia, and Olivia gave Nell a push, she didn't jump, she didn't even realize what she was doing until she fell and passed. Nell wasn't weak, she'd always fought through her fears, she wasn't going there to kill herself, she went there on the therapist's suggestion that "it was just a house", and she'd realize that if she went back. Nell although feeling somewhat a sense of relief from dying in some ways, didn't want to die - she loved her family, Luke especially, and wouldn't have put them through that pain.

She was trying to keep him there which means she wanted to kill all of them so that they can be with him forever in their forever home. She even has this scene in the end with Elder Hugh where she says that this Hill House is their forever home and they all should be in here. She was brainwashed by the ghost of Poppy( the mad wife of the mad guy, William Hill). The porch light we see blinking twice was actually their mom calling them in, not the house, because it was her rule. That's what I feel.

      Yeah, Olivia was driven to kill herself by Poppy, who was going to push her but didn't. Olivia made the initial fall herself so I can see how that's a suicide. Nell on the other hand was murdered. She went to the house to face her fears and had no intention of committing suicide. Olivia tricked her into putting on the noose by making it look like a necklace and pretty much moving her to the edge. When Nell realises this she looks absolutely terrified and calls for her mother, but is pretty much pushed. She wouldn't have died had Olivia not tricked her.

      Matthew Dardick how is Nell sloth?

    • @mattd.6938
      @mattd.6938 5 років тому +41

      Here is the meaning of sloth in biblical terms sourced from Wikipedia
      Sloth is one of the seven capital sins. It is the most difficult sin to define, and to credit as sin, since it refers to a peculiar jumble of notions, dating from antiquity and including mental, spiritual, pathological, and physical states. One definition is: a habitual disinclination to exertion.
      She was the only sibling trying to keep the peace. As her mental, spiritual and physical state declined. She isolated herself after her last effort to keep the peace. As well sloth and gluttony are very similar state of minds in general. So that kind of adds to my idea.
      I could be completely wrong but I think I'm close. Nell was the hardest for me to place in the deadly sins for sure.

    • @Grillenheimer

    • @mousemiot
      @mousemiot 5 років тому +4

      Matthew Dardick I agree Nell is the hardest to place. When I think of the sin sloth I think of deliberately lazy people. I don’t see that at all in Nell... I see depression more so considering she killed herself and went through a deep depression when her husband died.

    • @mattd.6938
      @mattd.6938 5 років тому +18

      @@mousemiot I see your point. Though laziness is a form of depression and falls in the same category. Considering it's a mental state it certainly couldn't be completely realized yet. Sloth can take many forms. Her sleep paralysis for one is meant to slow her down and progresses her depression. My point is you don't have to be inherently lazy to be slothful.

    Episode 5 was probably my favorite, but 6 was good as well.
    I like how episode 6 was made to look like one seamless shot for most of the episode.
    Also, in ep. 6 when Olivia is searching for Nell, she walks down the hallway that has two large statues at the mouth of it. She enters a room, closes the leaking chimney flu, and then exits the room. Looking closely, one will notice that one of the statues at the end of the hall has been turned opposite the way it was facing prior to Olivia entering the room. Subtle yet spooky. People who don't notice the turned statue will still likely feel uneasy, but might not know why.

    I haven't seen this cool secret in your guys` video: In the later episodes, where Olivia speaks to the husband, BEFORE the night, they keep entering and exiting the twins room. And there are two statues there. And one of the statue (the left one) looks at Olivia (To its right side) and then looks ahead, in different shots.

    There were also hints that Nell was the bent lady before it was actually revealed during shots when she had head tilted towards her shoulder. Good example of that would be during her wedding when she was slow dancing with brother.

    Nell: The house lights up yellow and orange, warm colours= welcome
    Luc: The house lights up red= Not welcome

      The lighting is never discussed but to me, it unlocks the entire show! The warm yellow/orangeish lighting is used when the house is tricking them or they're hallucinating

    i pretty much cried every ep, so its not scary for me. cuz sadness and compassion are much stronger than fear. also horny but... not this case. Nell got me the most. all she want is for her family to believe her. such a small thing to do for your love ones, but we often dont do it. btw she didnt suicide, she was killed by the ghost. people blame those suicide as selfish, but do they really pay enough attention at what those people hav been though? not that theres more painful thing so their pain is not pain, and not everyone know how to call help. or sometimes they called, just no one answered.

    One thing I noticed as well is Theo's hands and how it portrays emotion. Her clairvoyance is triggered through touch. Whenever she touches things, she feels whatever emotion was felt by that person or within that object. Theo feels too much after a while and becomes overwhelmed by it all, which prompts her to wear gloves all the time. This could also mean she's shielding her true feelings, which could be why she's so emotionless all the time, she's putting up barriers metaphorically and literally. She essentially receives and expels emotion through her hands. Remember when she had that breakdown in episode 8 after the jumpscare? She used an excessive amount of hand gestures.

    When child Theodora open the door of the cellar between steps see a white face, like a mask, for one second, after that he disappear. In the same episode you use in video a photo but with Theo's back. Nice show, not so scarry, but emotionall dramatic and strong.
