      @@CrochetWithTiffany Hi Tiffany, I live in the Netherlands and the yarn you use is not available here. I bought another type, same color, but I am having trouble to do the first row after the chain. It is very hard to stick the needle in the chain, with two threads on top and one under the needle. Is it oké if I just do it in the chain?

      I honestly don’t remember because it was a couple of years ago. I usually begin with 80 to 85 chains for a baby blanket, when using a number 4 weight yarn. I think I started with 86 (5 + 1) for this pattern. I hope this helps. Sorry for the SUPER late reply 🙏🏼

    Hi Tiffany, my name is Bob, and my grandmother used to knit and crochet while we watched football on Sundays. Eventually, I got interested, and she taught me the basics. That was many years ago, and I'm now in a nursing home because of a chronic degenerative bone disease, and with so much time on my hands, I decided I'd like to crochet again. This is the first project I'm going to try, and I'm planning on using a beautiful, purple, 80/20% merino/synthetic blend. Instead of the tassles, which I know will just get pulled off sooner rather than later, I thought I would do a substantial border in a complementary color, a rich blue/grean teal. I'd like the border to be about 1.5 to 3 inches wide and with a simple stitch that will give me a flat border. Any suggestions as to stitches, and how do I estimate the amount of yarn I will need?

      Hi Patty! I love this question! Making a blanket for your grandson can be extremely simple. They don’t generally care what stitch you used or how complicated the pattern was, they just care that the blanket was the right colors. To keep the blanket on the light side I would keep it a simple Double Crochet stitch for the whole blanket. If you wanted to bump it up a little do a Double Crochet Back Loop Only Stitch. But keep it simple. What you want to do is grab a piece of paper and a pencil. If you have colored pencils or crayons in black and gold that would be awesome but not necessary. Then I want you to draw a rectangle representing the blanket, and start coloring different possible patterns you could make with the black and gold colors. Bold stripes, thin stripes, half and half, different size stripe pattern. Play around until you find the pattern you like the best and then go for it. Totally beats just starting the project and then having to take it apart. Have fun! So excited for you!

    I found this video a few months ago and after finishing the other planned projects am starting on this one. How did you finish so that it would be flat at the top? It looks like once you start the pattern the top becomes wavy. Did you add a row of single crochet at the end or do something else? It is lovely. Thank you so much for sharing!

    • @brittanywatkins2214
      @brittanywatkins2214 4 роки тому +2

      I think that I have figured it out. This is worked in rows of two and they are opposite or each other. That makes a straight edge.

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  4 роки тому +1

      Ok cool. I don’t think the pattern really identifies how to end the blanket. It’s really your choice if you want to end with a row of single crochet or just end with a row of the pattern. 😊❤️🧶

    Hi Tiffany, I really love your teaching style and choice of content tutorials. I look forward to all of your episodes. I think this blanket would be a great choice for my older brother. He's due for a new afghan gift next spring. I know I have plenty of time to check out yarn, but I am home bound and can't run out to the stores. Because you know yarn types, I hope I could ask for some thoughts or suggestions on using a nice #4 'Heather' yarn solid (that offers a bit of sheen and color depth.). My own opinion is that would be a lovely option for this easy repeat, and a little more eye appealing to him. I read in comments below that you might create a unique border for this blanket instead of tassels, so I will ask as well. But most important and no rush to respond, any thoughts on a couple of yarn brand heather types that would give me that extra something at the finish line? many thanks!!

    Good morning, I'm new to your channel and while watching your tutorial it reminded me of a video tutorial that I watched yesterday. The vid was teaching the (modified back-loop double crochet) and I'm wondering if it may alter this pattern or reinforce it. So, basically instead of using the back loop only, you would add the horizontal back stitch or bar to the BLDC, as well. So go into the back loop and the back stitch and proceed to finish DC as usual. I hope this helps.

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  4 роки тому

      Hi Deborah55! Interesting thought! I think that would be cool to try. Yes it would change the way the blanket looked but it doesn't sound like it would alter any stitch count so go for it. If you do try it let me know how it turns out. 😊🧶💖
