My mother passed away in February of this year. She loved crocheting just as much as I do. She was in the process of making a blanket for my daughter, hook still in the stitches when we found it...after some googling, it was this pattern. I had no idea how I was going to finish it, as I'd never done this type of stitch before. I'm almost 100% positive that this was the video she watched to learn it. I now have full confidence that I can finish the blanket she started.
First let me say I am so incredibly sorry for the loss of your mother. But what an amazing piece of herself she left behind, for your daughter to have such a loving mother and grandmother and that she will have a blanket lovingly crafted by both of you . I hope you were able to gain the confidence needed and completed the beautiful blanket ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The most important lesson I learned today from you was the way you moved the yarn so it doesn't get tangled. I am a lefty, so this always happens to me. I'll try it your way and I am sure now I will always have no tangles. THANKS!!!!
I worked up a baby blanket in a small chunky apricot and white yarn with this pattern. I didn’t change colors but I just kept with the same pattern throughout the blanket. When I was finished it looked just like a vintage Chanel suit. It’s gorgeous.
Thank you for making something that looks so complicated be so easy. I absolutely love this pattern. And your hint about keeping your yarn separate, pure genius.
Thanks for this tutorial. I never realized before that at no time are all 3 colors used in the same horizontal rows or groups. I’d always just assumed that there were all 3 colors in each grouping of blocks horizontally. Makes trying a Gingham blanket so less intimidating now. I’ve already got Black, Gray and White (or Dusty Pink) yarn on hand to try this out. Or, Navy Blue, Orange and White colors for my NFL team. Looking forward to both options when I finish up a few (3 WIP’s)!! 😂🤣😂😉. Thanks again for the concise tutorial.
I love doing the griddle stitch and I really love the way it looks in this pattern! You have a lovely voice and give great instructions. Thank you for sharing with all of us. I can hardly wait to start my black, grey, and white!
Thank you so much for the pattern and instructions. Your instructions were very clear and concise. It was a very easy blanket to work with. Thanks again.😊
Tiffany this is a beautiful pattern the colors are just gorgeous thank you for sharing thank you for all you tutorials but most of all thank you for you God bless
Absolutely love all your Gingham patterns and have been greatly inspired! One thing that I've found makes my life so much simpler is to carry the loose end along with the color change yarn. This way I don't have all those ends to deal with when I'm done with my blanket.
I have been working on this afghan since you posted. Same colors too. I absolutely love this stitch/pattern. I am so happy with how my afghan is coming along! Thank You for sharing your awesome talent with us!
I have nearly completed this project in blues and white. I know others have stated they didn't like seeing the carried yarn running through, but I DO like the look. It looks "homey" to me. I'll post on your Facebook group page after finishing. Thank you for providing a free pattern and tutorials for your lovely gingham baby afghans!!! This was such a fun project! ❤❤❤
I am just discovering you now!! WOW!! Love this stitch; made a baby blanket for my new grand niece using this stitch but have NEVER seen the gingham before. BEAUTIFUL!! Thank you!! 🧶 Happy crocheting💜💜💜
I discovered your videos showing the gingham blankets and I’m hooked! (Pun intended) 😃 I’m on my 3rd blanket and can’t wait to start a new one! Thank you for these videos. You are an inspiration!
Will try this one after I get my sc one finished. Yes, I am one of those who have asked if I am doing something wrong because I can see specks of yarn being carried. I actually really love the look. Can't wait to try this one. Thank you so much for a video well done!
This is a really good technique. The possibilities are endless because the color combinations are endless. I have a temperature palette afghan coming up that I am thinking about using it on. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
I don't know why, but every time I watch one of your videos, you make the yarn look so smooth, I want to go out and buy more yarn lol. I must be addicted!! Haha love you videos!!
Started this afghan, I find that out of the 10 stitches in row of one block, counting stitches numbered {1,3,5,7,9} are single crochets. The even numbers {2,4,6,8,10} are double crochets. Hope that this helps everyone. I just love this pattern. Be sure not to pull your yarn to tightly when carrying your second block yarn, it could distort the block. A measuring tape is useful to measure your blocks vertically and horizontally to make them perfectly square. A test swatch is essential for making sure that you have perfect squares. Remember that everyone crochets at different tension Strengths. Some people crochet loosely while others crochet moderately tight others crochet very tight just depending on each person's tension.
Obrigada pela explicação, sou do Brasil 🇧🇷, e não sei inglês, o Google traduziu para mim. Beijos no seu coração ♥️💋❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 Jesus abençõe imensamente 🙌
Finally someone that wraps their yarn correctly....I was shown tgat was 40 years ago....you cqn make the loop stitch easier with this hold...anyhow...great video
This is a great pattern. I love the texture. I am working it just a bit differently with blocks of white, cranberry and aqua with the aqua being the medium color. I took the colors from a Christmas placemat with a little red truck on it. You make it so easy to follow!
Hi! I've justo started a baby blanket un lugar blue, light creen anda white🤗I'm absolutely un love with this pattern, thanks You so much for teaching us un that lovely way! Regards from Buenos Aires,Argentina😊
Thank you for sharing. I have a grey WIP and your tips are being helpful. Don't you just love this yarn! Somehow it manages to be soft and so warm yet also cooling for the warmer nights.
The colors are very pretty together... I've never done Afghan like this before and I'm excited to learn how to do it thank you for your tutorials are very helpful
I love this video. I have never crocheted the Griddle Stitch before and never done a Gingham pattern. I am going out and get some yarn. You explained this technique very well and was easy to follow. I have some baby yarn and want to make one using pink, lilac and white. Will let you know how it turns out. I am knitting and crocheting for my local hospital. They need children size afghans and lap afghans and prayer shawls and baby things.
I'm absolutely in love with this stitch/pattern. I can't wait to finish the blanket I'm working on so I can start one of these! Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I’m adapting this to make a set of dish towels and cannot wait to see the final product. Excellently explained and very easy to follow.
What type of yarn are you making your dishtowels out of?? I'm wanting to make a large rectangle table cloth but not sure what type of yarn (i.e. 100% cotton or something different). I am wanting it to be machine wash and dry able. What would you recommend?? Thank you!! 🥰

Beautiful story and meaningful for your daughter. The story needs to be written as that blanket will be an heirloom ❤️
I'm so sorry for your loss
Loads of ❤, I have learned crocheting from my mother as well, she always motivates me and keep guiding with new, bright ideas. 🥰😍
So sorry about your loss.
I agree that her voice is sooo soothing - and her teaching is great!
The most important lesson I learned today from you was the way you moved the yarn so it doesn't get tangled. I am a lefty, so this always happens to me. I'll try it your way and I am sure now I will always have no tangles. THANKS!!!!
I'm so obsessed with the Gingham Pattern. Thank You so much for your clear details from your tutorials. Love them so much!

I love those gold and cream shades together, so pretty.
It's so interesting how the same stitch patterns can often have more than one name! I grew up knowing this pattern as the Lemon Peel stitch. :)
Me too!
"Carry the sunshine along with me" that's a great moto.
Just making this into a pillow front
would be beautiful !
Just watched your video on how to stop your yarn from twisting.. Game Changer,
Thank you 😊
Finally a way to crochet in colors without cutting the yard. Thank you.
BONJOUR Daisy ? je vous remercie c est très très beau , très belle journée , Monique
Thank you for making something that looks so complicated but so easy. I absolutely love this pattern
I tend to use a size larger for the base chain because I generally make it tighter and loosen up as I stitch the rows.

Thank's so much , always for your patience as teachers of the craft. And god bless the Navy soliders at sea ..it's calming.
Do you end up using more yarn by using a bigger hook than when you use a smaller hook like a G
Really lovely and nice . Thanks for showing us how it's done. Janice from Malta Europe
