Hi Asia & BJ from Liverpool UK. This was my younger brother's favourite song. Unfortunately he passed away 8years ago from a brain tumour but he had prepared his music list to be played at his funeral & this was played as the final song. It makes me cry when I hear it play but I love it because he did. Thanks.
As a Black woman my peers used to say I have universal ears. Because I liked all genres of music. This here was my jam. Still on heavy rotation in my house.
the music in the 80’s was just fantastic, so many great bands with so many different styles . i’m very fortunate to have been part of that decade. glad you guys are finding all the great music we had to listen to. keep on with your journey . 🥂
This hit is so time appropriate. They come to build a wall between us..don’t let them win! I rediscovered this song about 3 wks ago, can’t get it out of my head! The look on Asia’s face was priceless..I gotta watch it again. PEACE!
Yep. Saw them multiple times in the Bay Area back in the 80's. They were so much fun. During their sets, I was literally laughing out loud while they were running around the stage, chasing each other... Love 'em!!! For me, the thing with Crowded House is, as pop-y and fun as their songs are, there's always this...foundation of sadness or melancholy. The songs touch your heart. Love the band.
"I hope I never" is a quietly hilarious take on break-up misery, It operates on 2 levels, the misery which is does so well, and the humour which is just self-mocking that bit of melodrama which we all indulge in for a time.

As a fellow New Zealander i'm very proud of Neil Finn's contribution to world music. For a period of time Neil's older brother Tim was also a member of the band.
I love Tim Finn…”Persuasion” was my intro to him. I was married to a New Zealander called Tim, and visited the South Island. Tim used to watch them at Otago University, they used to play in the varsity pub.
Crowded House are legends 🙌. A byproduct of the 80s New Wave movement but went beyond the synth and flash to create real, genuine and soul searching music. This is their biggest hit off their 1986 debut album titled "Crowded House"...like their band name. I highly advise giving the entire album listen as its high quality like this song and I would love to watch a first listen to it.
This is what I hope for in reactions. Reactors discover a song they really love or realize they're hearing a song they already somewhat know and love and finally put a title, band and face to it. Asia's reconnection to this song is just wonderful!
Great song. You can never go wrong with a sing-along chorus. If folks are singing along with the chorus the first time they hear the song, you have a hit.
Asia, BJ… Crowded House are an incredible group formed in 1985 in Melbourne, Australia, & their founding members were Neil Finn (from New Zealand) & Australians Paul Hester & Nick Seymour. They were huge back in the day & if anyone can remember the Stephen King telemovie “The Stand”, you’ll recognise the song from the soundtrack. They were hugely successful in New Zealand & of course, here in Australia as well. Their tours were almost always sold out & their shows are awesome & they are still playing & touring now.
@@robert-ef8qv … I know there have been many Stephen King books made into movies & Tele-movies but that was my favourite…. The world (✊️😇) vs the infamous Randall Flagg (🔥😈🔥). Filled with many future Hollywood stars, it was awesome to watch 👍😁
I have read THE STAND, 87 times! I’ve watched the ORIGINAL mini-series- from the 1990’s. Starring Gary Sinese, Molly Ringwald, Rob Lowe, Jamie Sheridan, etc.- more times than I can count! It’s all I can think of- Frannie & Harold, sitting on the couch…… as the World died- when I hear this song! Also- Don’t Fear the Reaper! The new, tv series/Paramount Plus show, just wasn’t nearly as good! I did enjoy Alexander Skarsgard but, only him! Lol!
Gerard Roll it’s one of my all time, fave movies/mini-series! Stellar cast! And just so in tune with the original manuscript. I’ve read THE STAND 87 times, as of now. It will probably be 88 by the end of Summer, because I always pick it up and re-read it a couple of times a year. It’s just THAT incredibly written!
@@tiffanycoates431 … I’ve only read it a couple of times but have watched it more times than I can count. It also featured one of my favourite actors who at the time was greatly underrated in Ed Harris. With the way our politicians here were carrying on in the early days of the “you-know-what “, we could’ve been mistaken for thinking the world was about to end as they made it sound “apocalyptic” & far worse than it was.
This is just a tremendous 80's classic. Neil Finn is a monster songwriter, much respected in the industry. Cool to see him with Fleetwood Mac as of late.
And now he's back with Crowded House which is even better imo. I just read that they had to postpone the last 4 concerts in their AU tour because Neil tested positive for covid. I hope he's ok. Nick Seymour just had it too. I LOVE this new CH lineup with Finnsons Liam & Elroy in the band!
Crowded House is a phenomenal band. So much talent! I would suggest "Fall at your feet" and "Better be home soon". Neil Finn has an amazing voice and both of these songs really highlight it.
Haha, loved Asia's reaction to her realization he had heard the song (and loved it)! That's what I call "hearing it again for the first time". I've had that happen, too - it's really like finding $20 in your coat pocket that you forgot (or never knew) you had in there.
Check out Split Enz sometime thats Neil Finn's previous band. Also the bassist brother is the lead singer of a band called Hunters & Collectors and their song "Throw Your Arms Around Me" is a genuine classic.
Asia, don't you just love re-discovering a song this way?! I've had that happen too many times to count! I've known and loved this track since it first came out in 1986, and have followed Crowded House ever since!! Such a wonderful band. That chorus is so, so infectious and singable! They have a deep, deep well to go down, and I highly recommend doing so: Private Universe, Fingers Of Love, World Where You Live, Something So Strong, Into Temptation, Better Be Home Soon, Fall At Your Feet, Four Seasons In One Day, Distant Sun, Mean To Me, Don't Stop Now...just for starters!! I guarantee you'll enjoy what they have to offer! Cheers.

Well, that just made me smile! Crowded House has been one of my favorite bands for over thirty years, and to see a song that's been such a big part of my life bring smiles and happiness to the two of you just made me happy. Welcome to the Crowded House family! Enjoy more! Their first two albums are simply magical.
I have been blessed to enjoy Crowded House in person multiple times as they soared in Canada early on so they spent considerble time here. Leader Neil Finn for me is one of rocks most glorious talents whether performing live or writing. Perhaps a in person performance drives that conclusion home best. I'll thoroughly enjoy his talent if he's still with us at 100 every bit as much as did so first concert. Thats exactly how rich the experiences have been.
Asia! So cute that you remember this song from when you were little! I adore this song and it NEVER gets OLD! Members of Crowded House were previously in an early 80's band called Split Enz - if you like this song you will Love MESSAGE TO MY GIRL by Split Enz.

I lived in Te Awamutu back in New Zealand where Lead singer Neil Finn, his amazing singer brother Tim, who was in Crowded House for a little while, and the family grew up. Met Neil and Tim a few times. They started a group called Split Enz, then Neil and 2 of the members from Australia including the late Paul Hester, drummer for Split Enz and Crowded House formed Crowded House out of Split Enz. Awesome group with equally awesome songs. This was the last song played at their very last concert. Never ever Dream It's Over. Love your reaction to them Asia and BJ and this beautiful song. ❤️ I think Neil is still with Fleetwood Mac.
He's touring with CH now but I just read they had to postpone their last 4 Australian concerts because Neil tested positive for covid (Nick Seymour just had it too). It's a new lineup and they sound fantastic: Neil, Nick, Mitchell Froom on keyboards and Neil's sons Liam (guitar, vocs) & Elroy (drums, vocs).
The song that Neil Finn will probably be remembered for the most. Crowded house was a very similar group to Creedence Clearwater revival in a way. Both were a group of four at one time, the older brother left, but I think the difference is that crowded house handled the situation better. Both groups had the younger brother as the front man of each group, both of them were the songwriters, and both of them had their older brother in the group that was not quite at the level of themselves. I'm talking about Neil Finn and John Fogerty, the front men of each of their groups. I believe that this is one of the greatest songs ever written, it has been redone by several different artists, my favorite being by Paul Young, that is my second favorite version of this song next to the original by Crowded House. Neil Finn is definitely a great musician and songwriter, great guitar player. My brother and I met him at amoeba records in San Francisco, he was doing a preliminary concert there before he went to the war field theater to do the official concert that night. He was sick that evening, he had a cold I recall, but he insisted on doing the concert.
Nick Seymour is the bass player. His brother, (Mark), was the lead singer for a great Australian band named Hunters and Collectors. Check them out." Holy Grail" and "Throw Your Arms Around Me" just to name 2 songs.
Oh that's a priceless reaction finding a song you loved from your childhood and didn't know who sang it! So awesome, they have so many great songs I can't even recommend any, too many to pick from!
I remember the first time I heard this song I loved it so much I rang up the radio station and asked what was the name of the group. Listed to all their stuff and fell in love with many of their songs.
Might be my favorite song of all time. I believe Something So Strong is the other song of theirs that got some radio play in the U.S/Canada. RIP Paul Hester.

My mam has their album recurring dream. We listened to it over and over on a 5 hour car journey. One of my favourite is distant sun from that album. Love your reaction 😂😂
Before they formed Crowded House, Neil, was in another band with his brother Tim, called Split Enz Formed in 1972, with Neil joining in 1977. They had a lot of great songs as well, I got you, one step ahead, and 6 months in a leaky boat are just a few .
Big big Enz fan here, loved the entire True Colours album, first LP (or any music at all) I ever bought with my own money! Recommend Poor boy and I hope I never from this album
HA , This one got me too ..When i used to hear it i never made out all the lyrics but it is a well written song and still applies in current times with regard to the division out there.
they had some truly great albums! Crowded House, Wood Face, Together a Lone, Temple of Low Men! were some of my favorites! i am willing to go out on a limb and say these albums will amaze you!
Neil Finn and sometimes his brother, I think. Many many years ago I saw a concert on Direct TV shot in Australia, and Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam was a guest on a special they filmed there, among others.I had no idea how good they were. All we got in the states was this song, which I really liked; but had no idea of what they could do.
I've experienced what Asia went through in this one. Hearing a familiar tune years later & having that light bulb come on is like running into an old friend. That feeling is so cool. 💙 from a couple hours south.
Wife here..Takes me right back to my cheerleading days.,.school dances..,Ahhhh the 80's!!..Amazing decade of music!!..Great inspirational reaction as always!!..
Crowded House has been my favorite band since I was 15 years old (so 36 years now). I'm glad you guys were feeling it AND enjoyed the lyrics. 😊 There's a lot more where that came from (though not all of their songs are this mellow -- not by a long shot! 😉) I recommend "Recurring Dream" from the Tequila Sunrise soundtrack. That one is so uplifting and has amazing lyrics!! ❤️
So many great songs from this band. Something So Strong; Mean to Me; Four Seasons in One Day; World Where You Live; Better Be Home Soon; Fall At Your Feet; Weather With You...
For those of us here in Australia (Sydney to be precise), who can ever forget their last show on the forecourt of the iconic Opera House on November 24th, 1996 ???
Great group… and individually they’ve got some great albums - Neill Finn especially. Asia brought a chuckle and big smile out of me when she pretty much levitated out out her chair when the chorus of the song hit. Great to see how music gets in our heads and becomes part of our lives!
What I always find amazing is whenever Asia just riffs and hums a few bars of any song - doesn’t matter what song - she’s always pitch perfect. Like she had sung it a million times.
I imagine this is quite an archetype of that song everyone has heard before but only a few know the artist. Crowded House represents to me the purity of good songwriting, songs that sound simple even if they're not, and always straight to the heart. My personal favorite and a good next recommendation would be 'Private Universe'.
I always loved this song but I did not know the artist until about 10 years ago. I probably saw the video on MTV in the 80’s and forgot the artist. It’s the type of song that gets stuck in your head and you keep singing it to yourself.

In the 1980s, I was in my late 30s to early 40s and living in Northern California. There was so much good music, like this great song.
Neil Finn has performed this unplugged in recent years- soooo incredible, even after all the decades!
We always remember the hooks if nothing else and then it’s like hearing
all over again. I’ve done that many times myself. What a beautiful song.
Crowded House, one of my favourite bands of 80's/90's, please go down that rabbit hole..
Asia's smile and joy uplifted my heart. thank you both for 'reacting' to this wonderful song. sending love, Thomas
the bliss she felt to find a old song that she forgot and enjoy this so much is wonderful to watch ...Ya'll

Her smile at the chorus SAYS IT ALL. Music magic.
Watching Asia’s face light up when the course came in was wonderful…it’s so nice when you have such memories.
The 80’s had the best music and movies!!!
Saw them live the week before last, still sound amazing.
One of the best songs from the 80's. His voice!! The Hammond B-3 is immense.
One of my alltime favorites ♥ so many fond memories of school dances! Thank you for reminding me...
My favourite song in 80s, plus with Sowing seeds of Love, Head over heels
Great British band from the 80s
Love them. More songs:
"Weather With You"
"Private Universe"
"Fall At Your Feet"
"Something So Strong"
Lots more....
I had crowded house on repeat, when I lived in Australia in '89. Better be home soon is another great song from them👍
The 70s and 80s was a wonderful time for Music and Bands, i am Happy to grow up in this aera! 🎸🎸🎸👍🤘
This was the last song they played at their farewell concert. It was very emotional for all.
Neil Finn sang this with a string section in New Zealand which is great.
I saw this band in a small venue in Cleveland back in the day. A really tight band.
A true TIMELESS CLASSIC love the reactions
So excited to hear the "music of my youth"😁this is an excellent song. Great reaction ❤️
I hope you guys watch the official video, too. Crowded House is just the best.
For those of us here in Australia (Sydney to be precise), who can ever forget their last show on the forecourt of the iconic Opera House on November 24th, 1996 ???
Definitely fall at your feet. Neil Finn is a genius great reaction 😀
Some songs are timeless. This is one of them for sure
This tune definitely takes me back to a good place, but the message is just as important as its ever been.
One of the greatest songs out of the eclectic sounds of the 80s. Loved it then, still love it now--what a groove😊
THE HEY NOW, HEY NOW IS THE BEST PART!
Singer Neil Finn was in the group Split Enz who had a great song "I Got You" in 1980. I played that song on the radio station.
I imagine this is quite an archetype of that song everyone has heard before but only a few know the artist. Crowded House represents to me the purity of good songwriting, songs that sound simple even if they're not, and always straight to the heart. My personal favorite and a good next recommendation would be 'Private Universe'.
That whole recurring dream album is great.
I always loved this song but I did not know the artist until about 10 years ago. I probably saw the video on MTV in the 80’s and forgot the artist. It’s the type of song that gets stuck in your head and you keep singing it to yourself.
A great choice - my favorite song is Four Seasons In One Day but DDIO & Priv Uni are also favorites.
I loved Asia's reaction to this 😊...it's an absolute classic✌️💜
