- 3 Thrift Stores In One Day - Decorate With Me! You always bring me luck! OK! For 2022 I am decorating with navy and yellow in mind. I am on the hunt for all things yellow and blue and we scored! I saw so many amazing things and I even scored a vintage jacket that I have to model for you!

We went to 2 Salvation Army stores here in Grand Rapids and 1 Goodwill. What fun and I truly felt we all went together! I am anxious to see what you think of the items I picked up!
I am going to open a little eBAy store so I can showcase some of the items I find and offer them at very low prices. I love to change out my items often so this might be a win win for us!
I also chat about how we sometimes don't feel we have what it takes to succeed. Have you ever felt like this in your life?

The funniest time at a thrift store was when I went with my friend who was mad at her husband. He had told her to not spend much and just go to a thrift store. So she found lots of items….and when we got to the cashier….she had spent $350. I about died….laughing because she didn’t bat an eye.
Her husband later shook his head and laughed and said he never dreamed anyone could spend that much money at Goodwill. Oh my do we laugh about that!!

I found a beautiful full length black coat with a button in lining at the Goodwill. I really needed one, and it was only $7.50.

Hi Susan, I received the same blue mosaic plate for Christmas from some dear friends that you found. It is made in Isreal and depicts the Miracle of the "Five Loaves and two Fish." ❤

Dogs, pets and family and friends just don't fill the warm loving embrace or holding hands as you watch the sunset or being covered with a warm blanket out of the dryer. 😪 oh my gosh i so very much miss my husband Jim of 52 married years. We were together since i was 15 years old, my one and only.
Regret not telling him everyday what an amazing husband and daddy and grandfather!!!!

A few years ago when l moved into this house l started painting my kitchen cupboards COBALT BLUE (commercially referred to as Mediterranean Blue). The walls were to be painted TANGERINE, but then a whirlwind blew into my life and l never finished. Soon l hope to have the time to finish it.
I simply need to thank you for the Thrift Store visit. Here in Toronto we are snowed in, so a trip like that (without leaving the house) was a treat.

I've given and donated car loads of things and surprisingly i do not regret parting with a single thing!!!
I look at it as "stuff " that was an amazing "find " was loved for a time and now passed on to be loved again.

Ah, so happy you discovered RC GORMAN! My parents relocated to Colorado in the 90s and my mom started collecting his work from all of the great thrift stores in and around Denver. I gained 25 lbs in the last two months because of debilitating depression, laying on the couch and eating whatever I felt like. I found a casual designer dress yesterday at a thrift shop in a size 8. for $10. It was too snug so I passed it by telling myself that I’m not rewarding myself with clothing until I drop at least 10 lbs. My winter weight usually comes off with spring gardening. But I haven’t had this kind of gain since childbirth.
There was wall art that I loved. I need to go back and try again. My apartment is a bare minimalistic slate. My curtains are white. It’s time to fill my life with happiness. Secondhand happiness won’t hurt the planet… lol
I love the fan wall sconce with fairy lights. It looks perfect in our hallway!

I have found many things at thrift stores over the years .Last Spring I found a corner curio cabinet that I put in my bedroom and have displayed all my jewelry in it . It is lovely to see all my pieces and allows me to choose outfits that go with the jewelry, rather than choosing jewelry to go with the outfit !

The animal print jacket is a real find! I watch your videos every week and what you do so well is a mix of this and that, fashion, stories, quotes, lots of pretty things and decorating. It really is like sitting down with a friend and just chatting about whatever. The format is really fun.

Susan & Desi, I’ve enjoyed buying many beautiful clothes & home decor items at thrift stores in the past, & it was always so much fun!
BUT, since I downsized & moved into a small apartment, I can’t buy another thing until I finish going through, sorting & purging the many boxes of photos, mementos, papers, files & excess clothes I have! Although some are crammed into my garage & every closet, many are still in plain sight with no where else to go. I’m in my late 60’s, widowed, live alone with my kitty, & the decision fatigue &
lack of motivation are sickening. I’m trying hard to stay focused & keep my chin up, but some
days, it feels futile & all I want to do (& have done) is just sit down & cry. I’ve tried several methods & even had a pro come in to help, until I couldn’t afford to keep paying.
I have a good life & am thankful for my many blessings. I just need my space to be serene & uncluttered, where I can finally feel at home.
Thank you for letting me share my feelings with this community of supportive women. If any of you have been through this & finished, I’d love to hear how you did it. Thanks & love to all of you wonderful, strong women!
I went nuts when I saw that RC Gorman tile. So glad you didn't leave it behind! Famous, prolific, important artist. To me that tile is "worth" more than everything else you got. It might literally be worth more. So glad you got it. I thought I was going to have to tell you to get back to that thrift store and buy it!!
RC Gorman was born in Arizona, but moved to Taos, New Mexico in the late sixties. There are RC Gorman galleries in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos (as well as Arizona). He died in 2005 at a hospital in New Mexico, having been transferred from his Taos home. I live in New Mexico and also love his work!

Hi Susan I was so excited to see the plate that you picked up that looks like mosaic tiles. I have a ceramic tile exactly like it that is framed in wood that you use as a trivet. This was gifted to me from two dear friends that brought it back to me from Bethlehem!. They told me the tile represents the mosaic at the Sea of Galilee site where people from the Byzantine era made a memorial to Christ’s miracle of feeding the masses with two fish and the loaves of bread. I just love mine.
P.S. My thrift find was a metal chandelier with sculpted roses on it. I painted it and had it in my kitchen. I saved it when we moved 18 years ago. It is now hanging up in my daughter’s dining room at her house. I love seeing it every time I visit them. It reminds me of all of the fun times when she was a little girl and was sitting in the kitchen! Lots of love!❤️
Could you please consider doing a video on what you do with all your home decor items when you redecorate or change out decor and get new things for your home, because living in an apartment doesn't leave us much space to store all these extra items we change out in the seasons when we change to summer, spring, fall, and winter decor. Do you store it in a rented storage unit or donate it or have a garage sale or yard sale in order to recycle and get new stuff all year long? I'm sure a lot of other people are just as curious as I am about that because you do change out and get new home decor quite often. I'm curious to learn how you store, organize it and remember what you have and where it's at when it comes time to change out and redecorate your home decor when the seasons change. Also maybe you could do a video on how often you clean and dust everything and what some of your favorite cleaning supplies are and what some of your cleaning techniques and cleaning secrets are to keep it all so new and shiney looking all the time. A special trip to the thrift store for me was when I found a vase that my Grandmother had cherished.
While she was alive someone had broken it and she tried to glue it back together.
But it completely broke one day and I know she was sad to let it finally go.
So know that she passed I found it in the store and it made me cry because I felt like she was saying remember me.
And Yes I bought that little vase and I cherish it as I cherish my Grandma ❤️

You are just the most precious soul, and with just enough spunk, and sass and humor. I adore your positivity and joyful spirit. In the past, I always chose friends who were much more outgoing and dynamic, and more domineering than I am. I loved to be a follower, and they were happy to lead. But now, I just want to be the leader of me, and decide where I want to go, eat, shop, travel, instead of letting someone else decide for me. I would rather have no friends, than friends who need me to follow. I know, this is off topic, but I do wish I knew someone like you where I live. I cannot believe your neighbor doesn’t like you. Oh my gosh, I've been a navy/burgundy/yellow decorator for years! Since I was in my 20s I have been collecting a type of blue and white china called flow blue which was mainly produced in the 19th and early 20th centuries, so when it came time to buy a new sofa, it had to be navy blue to look good with my china collection. When that sofa wore out, I bought another navy blue one and I love it! I use accents of burgundy and yellow and I think it looks lovely. I like that you buy things that make you happy or inspire you, not to fit trends that come and go. Good for you!

I grew up thrifting out of necessity now as a hobby business. I LOVE treasure hunting & am out at least 3 times a week. I don’t always sell my finds but the Native American tile is FABULOUS! I have sold $2 tiles for $100 ( I’d have kept the tile for myself). Dressing & decorating with one of a kind items to me takes talent. You have the eye, flair & artistic ability to put it all together. I bought a hand carved Walnut wood Eagle that is about 4 feet tall, wingspan at least 3 feet wide for $50 in Hastings ( over $1000 resale value) and surprised my Mr as a gift.

*I thought your Thrift Store choices were wonderful.* I have a blue glass collection of bottles mostly, with some ceramics (in the kitchen). This is the second time l have watched this channel and l am really enjoying it. I got a sweater at a thrift store to wear at Christmas with tiny embroidered flowers and precious little bows. My family hate it but l love it and l have had compliments from complete strangers on it.
I love the leopard jacket. I had one that was similar, back in the day, but I think I only wore it a couple of times. I got so much attention, when I wore that jacket, that it actually made me self conscious. When I see the way you styled it with a black dress, it makes me wish I had worn it more. Mine ended up going to a thrift store and I guess a more confident woman got to enjoy wearing it. LOL

I've had a lot of great thrift finds over the years but the one I really like is a bow front long dresser that I use as a entertainment center, also my 3 piece solid wood bedroom suite that is awesome.You always find interesting things.I really love the leopard print jacket and the crackel vase, but the one thing that surprised me is how good the wall sconce looks with the lights in it!It really looks great! I've found so many good things at thrift stores it's hard to say what was my best find. When I was a young single I decorated with thrift store items out of neccessity, and now I do it for fun like you. I also donate. Thrifting is not only fun and economical, it's good for the environment.

I call my style "taste full clutter". I have what I want and don't care what anyone else says. Hey, I'm the lady who had orange and green shag carpet wall to wall! I have a blue delft collection (not the real thing) that I just love and use it all over the house. I have one antique flo blue plate, but it rests in a box for my fear of it getting broken. Crazy! Great finds! My Grandma had a yellow kitchen. She made the best dinner rolls and breakfast rolls I've ever had. It was always so bright cheerful. My second apartment had yellow checked wallpaper. I've used yellow and and blue in my kitchen for about 3 decades. I can't imagine using other colors. Am I in a rut? I don't care. I love it and it makes me happy. Almost everything I own came from a thrift shop. All my prize possessions came from thrift shops. To pick one would be impossible. A very large owel and lion pencil drawing framed in rustic wood are more than special and a pen and ink drawing of 5 people in bohemian clothes are also a favorite and a black and white painting of a boy clambing in the sea hits home because it's how I spent my youth on peconic bay messing around with boats and crabbing. So many priceless treasures give me a hug as I wander around my house with my best friend happy my dog.

My greatest Thrift find was 4 designer scarfs that were $1.99 ea. I scored an Hermes (Carousel Horses), 2 Gucci, and a Chanel. They were 100% authentic. The Hermes I sold on eBay for $140. The other three I kept for myself.

Susan you definitely have the IT factor. I was in the GOODWILL and I found two antique porcelain dressing table items. One was a handpainted basket trimmed in 24k gold 3.99
The other was handpainted dish with lid 3.99, both Victorian. Then these beautiful porcelain figurines with porcelain lace on their dress also Victorian. I love antique and thrift stores. So HAPPY to see you and Mr Desi. You both have a blessed and safe week. Until next time hugs.
