Susan, you or your audience may have a suggestion regarding this? My late mother was an Artist and Printmaker. I am trying to find a way to share her work, her legacy. I have her work all over my home right now, but I realize that is temporary, and limiting. My children have some of her work, but they don't want it all. I spent my youth going to Art Galleries and Museums with her. She was a volunteer Art Teacher in my childhood classes and I would love to honor and share her work with others. Please suggest. Thank you for being such a wonderful patron of the Arts. 💕
Oh wow Diane!!! How about starting a GO Fund Me and put your Mothers work in a beautiful Coffee Table book??? Or a lovely website? I would help you promote it!!!!! That is so tender and dear of you to honor your mother's talent like this...what a beautiful person you are! xxoo Susan
@@LittlePoet It would have to be a website - maybe a blog page? Just more sustainable and available. Thank you for the suggestions and offering to promote. It might be a while since it's a rather large project.
Set aside an afternoon and invite her friends and acquaintances over to choose a piece. Make it joyful. It could even be a sale. I'm an artist and I often wonder what will happen to my pieces.
I don't know how I stumbled upon your YT site, but I love your videos! I subscribed immediately! I'm 73 years old and I've already learned so much from you. I lost my husband 3 years ago to a stroke. After his death, I sold our big home on acreage and downsized to a ranch house with no steps. I have 3 little dogs and it was the best thing I've ever done. My oldest little dog and I both have arthritis in our feet and knees. Your apartment looks fantastic! I have twinkle lights, but I've only used them for Christmas. That will change! I plan on watching all of your videos. I wish I had started with the very first one. I couldn't wait to get to Goodwill, lol! You are such a great motivator. I hope there is some way we, as subscribers, can do a little something to help you in return. Hugs from Georgia!
Oh what wonderful words to read tonight Devonne!!! Your life sounds fantastic! Oh you have your doggies...I know my Desi is everything to me and I bet you could tell!!! LOL....I am so sorry about the loss of your husband...starting over again can be daunting but you truly sound like you have found peace in your new life!!! We gals that love twinkle lights need to form a club!!! My love to you and welcome aboard!!! xxoo Susan & Desi
I got a little faux fireplace for my bedroom and painted it to match my furniture. Can’t tell you how peaceful and relaxing it is to enjoy from my prayer chair. Totally worth it.
What you do matters because it brings light to so many! I have a glass diningroom table, have had" You light up my life" in my top 5 most requested wedding songs since it came out! Desi and you, your warmth, your artistry and your spirit are such an inspiration, so many like me think on Saturday, Susan's video comes out today and We smile ! My wish is that you feel what you are capturing for us. I think you do...💗
Probably the best thing I've done to make my house feel like a home was to start feeding birds. I have bird-seed feeders and a hummingbird feeder hanging from shepherd hooks in the flowerbeds at the front of my house, plus some ground-feeder trays for bigger birds. I enjoy watching and listening to them at the front windows... and my cats enjoy it too!
So beautiful. I started to become more interested in birds during the pandemic since I was spending more time outside. It opened up a whole world to me...
Oh my God how I love birds this was one of the topics we discussed more recently just before she died. There is nothing more encouraging than a bird’s song &/ put that together with a beautiful fragrant flower nodding in the breeze, only thing I can find more encouraging is my Holy Bible because in it are all the promises of God. As kind people like to gather here with the kittle poet I hope we can always stay together
Diane you are absolutely right! The scriptures are the word of God! And he is the hope of the world! The word of the Lord is so beautiful. So peaceful ! So encouraging. In fact I hope to design inside one of my closets a prayer closet! We can't pray enough, we can't get too close to God, he's the answer to everything! Thank you for your comment. God bless you.
Thanks for telling me about the painting over your shoulder Christina’s world Luv it not sure why? I lost my daughter in Nov.2021 she was my everything I have a picture of her from her back at this beautiful wrought iron gate in Paris her hair was beautiful (as always), her favorite color was purple the color of royalty in heave. She was wearing a fabulous purple suede coat & carrying a beautiful large suede carry-on God rest her in peace.
I lost my husband in 2012. Hope I can return to the place I love, this year. It's where he's buried. I know I will be at peace then. Best wishes to everyone.
Hi Susan. I am having a quiet day at home. I didn’t go to the Flee Market today as it is very hot about 90 degrees. I cooked chicken and vegetables today in one pan with a little water and a little butter added and some spices added, and the whole thing got steamed and cooked for 45 minutes and then I added plain cooked rice that I made in my rice cooker, and it was really delicious. I also am cleaning and organizing my house and getting rid of a lot of things and donating them to Goodwill and the flee market. It makes the house more organized, and I can find things easier; and getting rid of things makes more space and I breathe easier. It’s a work in process. Desi looks beautiful. He is so cute. You have beautiful things in your apartment. Take Care Susan.😊
Susan I get excited to see your weekly post. Your home is so adorable, you make it full of love and so inviting. I will check out your ebay store as well. Desi looks so cute sitting outside at the table with his bow tie 🎀 as if he is waiting to be served !!! Love you Susan, you cheer me up every week. Happy weekend XOXO Mary
You are my Sunday morning watch. I enjoy you shopping but those pretties are not meant for my decor. I'm the colonial, country decor and my loves are redware, yellow ware and scaffito pieces along with folk art. I do look sometimes at pretties like yours, but they really don't have the look I want. ( PS...my 2 close friends and I went to see Downton Abby yesterday...it was brillant! To be immersed in the lifestyle for a few hours was a tonic for me!)
Dear Susan, n Desi is the happiest little doggie because he has the best mommy in the 🌎 whole wide world, I so love your honest open warm heart , your beautiful smile , your creativity, your knack for Finding the things that jump joy into your life, I love your smiles. My own recent purchase has been from an online ad : something I always wanted , a beautiful Imitation Tiffany Glass floor lamp, it is so beautiful and lights up my little apartment . Your home is so beautiful and a real reflection of your inner world. Sincerely,🤷♀️ Mary Canada 🇨🇦
To make my home a happy calm place I have three dogs ! I also put a plant in every room whether silk or real . I have picture of my grandkids in every room. I also have windows in the main rooms uncovered to let it lots of sunshine . I use lamp light to put out a glow at night. I set up fake candles to go on every night on timers and I always light one real one to scent the room.
The older I get the more I move towards minimalism. I'm 68. I feel relaxed when my small, one bedroom apartment is clutter free. I like modern furniture. I have given away a lot of my clothes, shoes and little gadgets that I have hardly used. I love orchids and watching them bloom again and again makes me happy. I love geraniums on my balcony and every year my son buys them for mother's day. All the best to you Susan and your viewers.
I find myself always being attracted to shades of fall. Tans, browns, creams, oranges, greens. My home is all wood inside and I decorate with these colors and find them soothing along with candles and soft lamps. Always look forward to your videos Susan, you and Desi have a great week too!
Oh yes, me too...fall colors make me happy and they seem to make everybody happy...which her in Michigan is a goos thing...the winter is coming!!! Brrrr~~~
I loved your fireplace so much i bought one too..im in a senior appt complex..love my appartment but missed a fireplace... So now I have my ambiance back add heat if I want it❤
Since I have watchin you I have added little lamps up on my hutch etc, I love them. It changes the mood of my living room & dining room. Thank you so much. I am 70 & live along & I;m so hapy.
I loved this .... about things that calm. Give a sense of Serenity on days when we cannot always make sense of the World. For me, ...it's similar to you ...I need to be surrounded by things I enjoy looking at .... and feeling warmed by, in my Heart and Soul. I am a tactile person- I love things that are " soft ", plush, cozy , ... velvet fabric ( my favourite) chenille, etc. - you get the idea. I have always owned what I refer to as " Sensual Furniture "... it's got curves. Rounded corners. Oval shapes, circular shapes. I have very few pieces that have what I call " hard edges ". ... I believe that rounded type Furniture does help with having less anxiety, less stress. I'm not a Scientist, lol....but I do feel it helps. I also feed the birds that populate the area where I am....I get joy and calm from watching them,I have several food trays, a bird bath , an Oriole feeder, and Hummingbird feeder. Our home reflects who we are, in part.... and being true to ones' Authentic Self within our home can provide that sense of Well- being. Serenity. Calm. Feeling Grounded, and creates the kind of space that offers all of that,...and so much more for the Heart and Soul.
Since moving into our country cottage in the hills, I feel like I've been transported to heaven on earth. We may be in the autumn of our lives, but I'm bringing Spring into our home. I'm attracted to florals and vintage fabrics, barkcloth curtains and love bringing fresh flowers in from the garden. Although I kept all my antique dark mahogany furniture (it fits the English cottage theme going on), walls in the living areas are painted 'candlelight' - a very pale yellow. The cottage gets great light all day and I waste much time distracted by beautiful views of the hills, beautiful birds....but that's not wasted time at all, right Susan?! ! God's creation around me is comforting, so I'm letting it all in!! We've been so blessed with this stone cottage and I find joy in decorating it. We are so thankful to God for placing us here. Happy! Calm! Peaceful! Love your thrifted finds, especially that art deco pin dish! Thanks for another great video. Can I borrow Desi for a few days? I haven't gotten another dog yet --- we lost our big boy yellow lab back in January 2021. He was the best! Dogs are a great comfort, too!
Desi always looks so handsome and adorable, but especially so this week after his spa day! I love the way you have your outdoor deck arranged with the lovely decor and lights. Such a cozy feel to how you decorate your home, and elegant at the same time. Thank you for another wonderful Saturday with Susan & Desi. I always look forward to it. Wishing you love and light. Hugs to you and Desi. xoxo. Susan
Great to see you here this week! My home is my sanctuary and everything in it brings me peace and joy. It's 800 sq ft total and is my jewel box. I painted my bedroom a gorgeous shade of lavender. It is the most soothing calming pretty color. It took me months to find it. I love my colors in my home. My living area walls are tall and vaulted and painted deep green/blue. The color of Italy's Amalfi Coast. It is truly my home in every corner.
@@vickip54 Benjamin Moore the only paints I will use. Their color saturation and finishes are the absolute best. I will give you the bedroom color when I find it. The deep green/blue is called Beau Green (eggshell finish)
Everyday I open a window or door to my balcony to let in fresh air, including winter (just not too long) that always gives me the feeling of hope for a new day. As a caregiver to my husband air and light are essential for both of us, and when I learned to open our place to some fresh air it makes for a great beginning to each day. Love your channel and love to you and Desi. Thanks
I love orange in the Fall. I put out pumpkins & change all the pillow covers to Fall themes. I have candles burning year round plus the plug in Wallflowers. Everyone who comes in my apartment, even maintenance remarks on how nice the apartment smells. I have lots of pillows in the living room & bedrooms. We change the pillow covers for each season. I have loads of the battery pillar candles. Lots of angel statues also. Can’t forget the vases filled with artificial flowers. Amazon does have some nice flowers. Desi looks very handsome. I bet he loved his spa day. I almost forgot books. I have two bookcases in my bedroom. I have my children’s book. I love old fairytale & stories from the 1940’s. I love the beautiful illustrations. I also have a huge fairytale book that I had as a child. I have two bookcases in the living room. Lots of books there also. Looking forward to next week’s video. I love photography. I used to go to the library & look at the large book of Diana Arbus photographs. Her photos were so different. There was another woman I used to look at her photos but I can’t remember her name. It’s been a very long time since I was able to go to a library. Love you, Lucy
That very Andrew Wyeth painting is so fascinating to me because at different intervals of my life I tend to interpret the emotion behind it. It’s one of those hauntingly identifiable, moody, and captivating pieces. When I went through a lonely time, it conveyed loneliness. During happy times it looked wistful and positive. During depression it gives me the same feeling of abandonment. I think, in my opinion, this is why that painting is so magical. It is ALL the emotions in one painting. What a genius artist Wyeth was to be able to have captured it all in one.
I grew up in Chester County Pennsylvania where Andrew Wyeth lived and painted. The woman in the painting Christinas World was actually unable to walk .( I believe she had polio as a child) Mr. Wyeth used her as a model in several of his paintings. The house in the distance was her home in Maine where the Wyeths had a vacation home.
I recommend a book called A Piece of the World by Christina Baker Kline, it is the true story of Christina and her friendship with Andrew Wyeth. The house is in Cushing, Maine and can be visited.
Susan, your videos are truly a piece of art. They are so much more than you sitting in front of a camera speaking to us. I truly appreciate all the work that goes into your weekly videos. I have to tell you that I purchased the same faux fireplace you have after I saw it in one of your videos about a year and a half ago. I just love it. Oh, and Desi looks so handsome.
Hi Susan, There were so many good suggestions in this video. I have a rectangle glass dining table with french legs and curved carvings on the top. It is in a pale taupe wood and was custom made over 25 years ago. I have a round glass top coffee table and round glass top end table. Glass also makes a room look more open and larger. Making our homes look the way we want really adds to our happiness.
Really really beautiful…I love how you talk so peaceful…I love it this is the first time I watched one of your videos and I really love it…thank you 🙏🌸🌸🌸💗💗💗🌸blessings 🙏🙏🙏🙋🏻♀️🌻
I wish I could reach through my phone and give Desi a big hug and kiss. I love him so much. I surround myself with artwork, good lighting and my precious dogs and that brings me happiness. I love setting a mood and making my home my safe space in this scary world. Looking forward to next week’s video!
3 more days until I’m in my new home. I’m so excited! And this video just reminded me of how fun it will be to decorate it. I love yellow. I remember when I got my 1st sofa. It was yellow with a floral print. People told me I was crazy for getting a yellow sofa with a black furry dog. I didn’t care. It made me happy. And fresh cut flowers always brightens my mood. Look forward to next week’s video!
The straight vs. curved lines interests me! In my living room, I have a very large stone fireplace with stone mantel and hearth. The stones are (basically) cut straight. My piano is straight lines, and quilt on the wall, also rug (lb oriental) and coffee table are straight. But the back of my couch is curved, The 2 chairs are not parallel with the wall, except for the chair with oval seat and back. My dining room table (beside living room)is round, too! The walls are "whole grain" from ACE. A color that has turned out to be my very favorite, and goes with everything! I'ts been fun to look for the curved lines in my house! Have a great week! Peggy
Being heard and understood is the key to successful communication in relationships ..Without this all words fall on deaf ears.Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences with the audience..😊💐Great video !
Thank you for such a wonderful video. It's been a tough week. You've brought me a smile, some joy, a little beauty and companionship. That's your gift. Making everyone welcome and to feel heard and seen. I hope that you're having a wonderful weekend. Hugs to you and dashing Dez.
The first thing I did to make my home comfy was to decide on a color theme. Mine is copper/orange, blues, and grays (with some black). Now, you might think that the blues and grays would be too "dark", but for me they are "grounding" colors. I use orange and copper décor to use as the counterpoint to the blue (it's on the opposite side of the color wheel). My bedroom is tan/sandy colors, blue and orange, with a seaside theme. So that's aqua blue and coral orange, plus tan to be the "sand" neutral to ground it all. I have artwork on the walls of the ocean, seaside and sunsets on the ocean, so again, all kinds of blues and oranges. I carry the theme into my dining room with a light blue table cloth with peachy-colored or copper candlesticks, and black and copper vases with sprays of faux olive branches and flowers. My carpets and rugs have similar hues -- and I agree that they really help with the acoustics. My coffee table is round, with a round wood tray on it, with little décor items in it. I love art deco styles, so I've found some treasures at thrift stores and the like, and don't bring in anything that isn't beautiful. I also love the ambiance of a faux fireplace! Something soothing and reassuring about it. I also have a chiming wind-up clock, which I love, and the tick-tock is a soothing sound for me. Have a great week, and find joy in something every day!
it is so nice that glass tables are readily available at thrift stores now. People who decorated with them in the 80's have donated so many of them. Easy to find and inexpensive for a change around our homes. I like things in their place too. Neat and tidy makes me feel at ease. I don't think I could cope with all the things you have layered everywhere. The clutter would cause me anxiety, even though it is so nicely done.
Hello, Susan and Desi. I'm a guy and I have to tell you how much I enjoy your videos, and I look forward to each and every one. I don't know how many men are in your audience, but I believe that much of what you say is applicable to men and women both. Susan, I just love your delightful personality. I love your sincerity, warmth,, and kindness. And I especially love your dry and very funny sense of humor. Your apartment is beautiful -- you've given me a great many ideas for arranging my home. And Desi is one handsome (and lucky) guy. I wanted you to know that there are men watching your channel. Your channel is my favorite on UA-cam, Pease keep making your wonderful videos -- I'll be watching.
I agree about water features but I love the sound. I have a smart TV so I can get UA-cam on it and there are Zen fountain, candles and music videos I play for ambiance and a chill vibe. They also have fireplace videos and since I don't have one in my apartment, I play them in winter. I love my home, its tranquil and true reflection of me. It is a small space so I don't have round tables anymore but rugs on my carpet and lots of windows and light. I'm home 90% of the time as it's my favorite place to be! A minimalist I'm not. Desi looks so handsome after his spa day! You bring light and life to all of us with your inspiring videos. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I love watching these videos. I know there older ones but I haven’t seen them and they just make me smile and feel so happy. Little Desi was certainly handsome today and looked so well groomed. Thank you 🙏 for sharing these sweet and informational stories that you do. Have a good week and take care. ♥️🌹♥️
I love how you have decorated your apartment, it looks so cozy and welcoming. I live with my daughter and son-in-law presently, so I have a bedroom and bathroom that I have decorated. I love the beach, my bedroom is decorated with various sea creatures on the walls, Christmas ornaments that are sea horses, mermaids, starfish, fish. I also have some photos I have taken at the beach hung up, along with sea creature twinkle lights! On the walls in the bathroom are metal figures of sea creatures along with a very colorful picture of an angel fish. In my room I also have a metal shaded little lamp that has patterns cut into it, I have a flame/flicker lightbulb in it, love the effect of the pattern on the wall. My colors are teal, turquoise, pinks and light grey. I find my room comforting and totally my space! Love seeing Desi, he is looking absolutely fabulous! Look forward to seeing next weeks video as it sounds very interesting.
Hi, Susan: As a fellow photographer, I enjoy your content and how you put your videos together. I’m looking forward to your next video with Vivian Maier’s images as a source of inspiration. Be well!
Susan, its always good to see u desai I never realized that I have straight everything in my home my tables wow it's so interesting and I love putting twinkle lights around my plants. I'm so ocd🤦♀️like my Mom lol. But I love the way you have ur home so beautiful full of life and happiness. Continue to do what you do I will be watching 😊 Thanks for sharing. Love from Chicago😘
At this time in my life, I want my home light and bright, and it is. I have a 2/2 garden home. I put up Hunter Douglas Silhouette shadings in every room, no drapes. No dark and heavy furniture, I have a red "apartment sofa", aka a loveseat, and a slim recliner in my LR. I decorate with what I like, not having a theme or one color per room, like in the past. Off white walls and carpet make it easy to add colors in every room. I bought a fireplace for my bedroom from QVC several years ago. I love it, I highly recommend it to all. Love your home. I also live on a greenbelt, I have a wall of glass doors looking out over it.
Wyeth’s neighbor Anna Christina Olson inspired the composition, which is one of four paintings by Wyeth in which she appears. As a young girl, Olson developed a degenerative muscle condition-possibly polio-that left her unable to walk. She refused to use a wheelchair, preferring to crawl, as depicted here, using her arms to drag her lower body along. “The challenge to me,” Wyeth explained, “was to do justice to her extraordinary conquest of a life which most people would consider hopeless.”
As a spiritualist we feel colour in everything, saying that we believe there is a positive and negative in colours, with healing orange is indeed true ,yellow for the mind, blue is for communication etc.I love photography and so enjoy your filming,I love my fireplace dress it up for christmas,,your home is so pretty and comforting, gorgeous desi such a sweet boy, take care.Look forward to your next post.😊
My condo became much more interesting to look at when I added a tufted round ottoman and a curved leg desk instead of all the 90 degree corners on everything. It adds so much more interest to have a mix of shapes. Warmer and less sharp.
I'm 74, but still love non-"cozy" slick, clean, ultra modern with the human, gentle touch shown in the large variety of art on my walls. Should I think about growing up? ha ha
Very interesting video...but, they usually are! My dining table is round with a glass center; my coffee table is oval glass and brass. I never thought about shapes and how they affect us. One of the many things I love about my home...dimmer switches! When I get home from work, I need a few moments to decompress. Being able to dim the lights, give a soft ambiance to my space is so soothing!
It’s such a wonderful thing to “ Finally” have spring weather, sit outside before the Mosquitoes hit. I love Michigan, traveled worldwide & prefer it. One thing that came to mind was while I love certain items I do need to take my MR in mind. My Mr loves clutter, messes, piles of mail etc. I’ve come to realize that stuff is just that, only stuff. I pick my battles & stuff isn’t one of them. Roseville, McCoy, Haegar…….to die for
I have to have everything in it's place, lots of light in a room and I have been called many times a neat freak, Susie homemaker, etc; but it makes me so calm to have a clean home, everything in its place, even in my closets are very organized. Can't agree on the color orange, I hate it. Love blue, pink, pastels
It's funny you mentioned the circles Susan I have a round glass coffee table a round glass end table a round rug in my kitchen around rug in my bathroom😍
I sleep with so many pillows. I am surrounded front and back, and I use an electric blanket. When I get in bed with my sweet dog sleeping to the side, I feel so safe and comfortable. I always think I am like a bear in a cave, just comfy.
Mom's miniatures in my display case, Mom's mirror on the wall, the tapestry of cats, my daughter's art work she made for me as a child, my peace table, pillows my best friend bought me, my dolls collection, my stuffed animals, all make me happy!
All you’ve been through , you still manage to live a peaceful life. Believe it or not that does transfer to your readers. You and your precious desi’s home is a peaceful retreat not only for you but also your readers. I can always count on a positive and encouraging post from you. You never really know how it will affect a reader who is going through something difficult. Thanks for all of that !!!
I really enjoy your channel, and I love watching Desi he is so handsome. I hope you stay on UA-cam for a long time because I would miss you and Desi, y'all make my day. Thank you for sharing. Have a Bless week both of you. 💄💖🐕🐶🐾
I hope you read this comment. I visit your videos everyday . it takes me to a positive place . your personality is so relaxing , not to mention your talent is amazing . I went out to to the flee market and saw so many idea's , Thank you for all you do
My tables are a mixture of round and square/straight. My furniture is very light wood, oops my dining table is black though but I love it. My couches and chairs are a very cheerful butter yellow cotton denim with with crewel embroidered sunflowers on them. Love the cheerfulness as the sun comes thru the living windows and the room looks golden with light in the morning. I actually enjoy having my tea in that room in the morning to start y day, so pleasant. Also I love your twinkle lights. I also have twinkle lights on my large front porch that come on at night draped around birdhouses and plants along my picket fence. That is my fun for my little house. My bedroom is filled with many quilts on my bed and folded on shelves, art by Carol Endres on my walls, just what I love. I share your joy in doing your making a home you love and that loves you and desi. I lost my little dog whose name was Shadow because he was also my little companion, a fitting name for him. Happy to see you with Desi.
Speaking of light, the blouse or dress you're wearing lights reflects your own personal light. Your photography is breathtaking and thought provoking. You weave insight into the background that pulls it all together. Is a book in your future? We'd love it!! 📒🌻❤️
The little girl in the picture looks like you as a child. It is awesome. I love it too. I love your art Nouveau /deco, tray also . I learn so much from you and Desi. Thank youx
I love to mix straight with round, and I love walls with curves. Also, love different textures & colors as long as everything remains uniform and there is a focal point in each room. Everything should flow together. I really like your mixture of wood, glass, metal and plants, and I love your Tiffany style lamp on the wood cabinet with the picture above … and your twinkle lights.
My style is eclectic, with my modern sofa being the only piece with truly straight lines. Even it has round bolster pillows on each end, and a fluffy, loosely knitted throw with uneven balled fringe tossed across one corner for softening. My tables and chairs are either round, oval, half moon, or have curvy shaped edges. I don’t know why, but curved shapes make me feel like more of a free spirit and less restrained. And, I love moving things around to find their spot. Love this video!
Can't wait for your videos each week..You are so inspiring to me. I have a new mantra this week. It is " I am special, and I deserve to be happy." Sometimes you just have to believe to become. Keep on inspiring all of us. Thanks Barb
fasted 21 min... always want more!! I like things neat and tidy and I like my "stuff' around and I like changing decor seasonally. You and Desi bring so much joy each week, thanks for the smiles!!!
Hi Susan I look forward to your to your weekly video, it like a good friend visit and we have so much to talk about and tell new things. I am now shopping at the goodwill center once a week too
Hi Susan, I love vintage anything! I was always drawn to more ornate objects. So I feel more comfortable with vintage decor. My garden has old rusty tools and galvanized watering cans.
Thanks for another beautiful video Susan! Desi looks so handsome! He is just so adorable!!! The one way I make my home warm and inviting for my family and myself is to incorporate what makes everyone happy in my decor. My husband and daughter love the outdoors so I bring some of nature in into my decor and I love the beach so my bathroom is beach/ocean themed. I decorate my kitchen, dining room and living room for each season also to bring new life to each season. Thanks again for the wonderful videos and I look forward to seeing you and Desi next week! Have a beautiful week! 😊❤️
I have a round dining room table, and a round end table. I don’t like a light oak, I have a darker shade of oak, and cherry. I have lights and clocks all over the place😊your apartment is really inviting and comfortable looking.
I am very similar to you in every way. That is one reason why I like You so much! Our tastes and style of decorating is warming and romantic. My stained glass lamps create and bring an ambiance into a room. I decorate using orange lights. I love the softness. My candles are scentless. YOU ARE VERY SWEET!❤️
My goodness...your thrift shops are so high end and beautiful. So nice to hear your beautiful kind soft home and your beautiful sweet lovely face💝. Love from Debbie and Dexter-Dog the amazing rescued Chihuahua companion. 🙏👍😄💝
Love your home Susan you have excellent taste. I like a cosy home too. My home is a mixture of both dark wood and light walls and floors, I don’t keep updating and adapt what I’ve got to modernise. I’m what they call O.C.D too but I just call it clean and tidy 😃 Looking forward to your upcoming video about Vivian and her life through the camera lens. Yes it’s really a vocation being an artist, whatever field you decide on. God bless Susan for another wonderful video and that beautiful Desi makes my day 🌸
I have that very same blouse, great minds think alike. I love the music you pick to go in your video, I use windchimes around my house outside and inside too. Supposed to bring good chi energy to ones space. I just love the sound. Twinkle lights are my favorite too sparking along side crystal, so beautiful, blessings. Ann
You should look into Western Feng Shui! It’s so fun and pretty much what you’re talking about. The placement of objects in the home to bring about harmony to your surroundings. There’s even special sections in each part of the home. Like the painting behind you of the girl in the field. I would not place in the ‘love’ section as that depicts to me, a single woman being wistfully alone but that might be great in the ‘knowledge’ section for reflection, stuff like that, it’s fun. I love to decorate and strive for a harmonious environment! 💗 You and Desi are awesome❣️🌟👸🏼🐕
Love your channel, Susan. Looking forward to learning more about Vivian Meyer. Also, you look beautiful, your face looks as though a professional applied your makeup. Thanks for the time & effort you always put in these videos. I, and obviously many others, look forward to seeing them each week.
I think the colour blue is the most beautiful colour, it calms me and makes me smile - my entire house is blue, all my comfy lounge clothes are baby blue - and my life is surrounded by blue but the only thing blue about me are my eyes. Susan, I'm not doubting what you are saying but I think the person's life and experiences have a lot to do with how they feel.
I so agree with you! I have friends that love gray everything in their home....it's not for me but they love it! There are just some colors that makes me so happy...yellow...oh..that is so happy and I love yellow and red...for a bedroom I think green and blue is very pretty!!!
I just was so impressed with your Vivian Maier program💕. I was familiar with this photographer but many comments regarding her life were disappointing…It was mentioned that she never lived her life; only through her camera. That may have been one part of her life but her heart was in recording the life that she witnessed. I also was touched by seeing another side of you, the creative one that brings you so much peace. Artistry is in your soul which is projected by everything that you produce on your site. I am so pleased to have found your site🙏
Yea!!! Its Saturday evening and time for a new video from you. But I have to admit I watch your older videos over and over; they are so peaceful and calming. Seems I continue to notice new things whenever I watch. I move my decorative items around and that makes things look new and different. Desi out did him self and looks like a charmer. I think I will relax and have a little poet marathon tonight with a good snack and maybe a little glass of wine. Till next week...
Perhaps you can also have some pieces displayed in the local library, or the lobbies of other venues ... at the school where she taught also?

Hello Devonne
I just wanted to say hello and I'm sorry for your loss..
Debra
I got a little faux fireplace for my bedroom and painted it to match my furniture. Can’t tell you how peaceful and relaxing it is to enjoy from my prayer chair. Totally worth it.
Excellent idea, I bought one years ago for my son’s house he didn’t want and has been sitting in my shed. Thank you
I know I did that too .I painted mine pink and wow I love my fake fireplace
What you do matters because it brings light to so many! I have a glass diningroom table, have had" You light up my life" in my top 5 most requested wedding songs since it came out!
Desi and you, your warmth, your artistry and your spirit are such an inspiration, so many like me think on Saturday, Susan's video comes out today and We smile !
My wish is that you feel what you are capturing for us. I think you do...💗
Desi is such a handsome, dapper a little fellow! Absolutely love him❤️
My only disappointment in this video is that it wasn’t longer. I want more.
Oh you are so sweet! Look at that doggie of yours!!!
Same here! I love feeding and watching the variety of birds that show up!
That sounds so wonderful. I like birds too. They're so relaxing. It's such a great part of nature. Enjoy
Definitely round dining table. You always make me feel okay about being myself and decorating with all the things that make me happy.
House plants also make a house calming. Love the living plants in the window. Taking care of them, watering them, watching them grow calms me.
I FEEL you
My son was 39 when he went in 2013.... my heart will never stop aching
Love and blessings 💜
Purple is my favorite colour too xx
I’m so sorry for both of your losses, purple was my mom’s favorite color and it’s mint too.🙏🏻❤️
I lost my husband in 2012. Hope I can return to the place I love, this year. It's where he's buried. I know I will be at peace then. Best wishes to everyone.
@@maureenlewis4300 🙏🏻❤️
I always believed that if you love your home and take care of it, your home will love you back and make you feel safe and happier in it ❤
Green plants and framed family photos is how I add warmth and love into my home.
@@gailhorrocks It WAS brilliant wasn't it! 🎉 I will go again too because it's magical seeing it on the big screen! Absolutely transports me!!!!
Dear Susan, n
Desi is the happiest little doggie because he has the best mommy in the 🌎 whole wide world,
I so love your honest open warm heart , your beautiful smile , your creativity, your knack for
Finding the things that jump joy into your life, I love your smiles.
My own recent purchase has been from an online ad : something I always wanted , a beautiful
Imitation Tiffany Glass floor lamp, it is so beautiful and lights up my little apartment .
Your home is so beautiful and a real reflection of your inner world. Sincerely,🤷♀️
Mary Canada 🇨🇦
So now I have my ambiance back add heat if I want it❤
Oh I am so happy you got a fireplace! I love mine!!! I have 4!!!
Hugs to you and Desi. xoxo. Susan
Yes,so true Susan!
I would love to see your hair me! What’s the bedroom paint called? And brand?
@@vickip54 Benjamin Moore the only paints I will use. Their color saturation and finishes are the absolute best. I will give you the bedroom color when I find it. The deep green/blue is called Beau Green (eggshell finish)
Desi looked so precious in his bow tie and sitting at the table like an adorable little gentleman! 💖🐶💖Loved the intro. music and the video. ❤️🌹
Oh thank you so much, Christina! Desi is such a little gentleman!!!
Love your little Desi.What a sweetheart.❤️
Your house must be very peaceful; Desie always looks so relaxed :)
Loved this week's and every week's video(s).
YES!!! I feel just that way...when I was younger I saw sadness...isolation...at this age I see strength....!!
@@LittlePoet YESSS! You see that too!? Isn’t it so fascinating 🥰
@@virginiacowan9987 thank yous o much for telling me~~~
Susan, your videos are truly a piece of art.
Would love to know where you bought the faux fireplace. Thanks!🥰
A bouquet of lavender, sage, rosemary, thyme, & eucalyptus is wonderfully calming and fresh .
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
You are such a special lady. I love your videos; they are creative, uplifting, and thoughtful. Thank you.
it is so nice that glass tables are readily available at thrift stores now.
Hi handsome looking doggie handsome. Remember those skates what fantastic memories. 🙏❤️😢miss those precious days.
Hi sweetie! Looking forward to the video!
I have lots of curves in my home .. I love soft shapes, velvets, wood, glass, rugs, French doors, chandeliers and more 😍
Hi, Susan: As a fellow photographer, I enjoy your content and how you put your videos together. I’m looking forward to your next video with Vivian Maier’s images as a source of inspiration. Be well!

I just love you and Desi.
DESI is the cutest thing in the world.
God bless you both.
I’d buy that McCoy vase in a heartbeat . You have me hooked on the vintage vases!!!
Love this video! Have a great week.
Lovely video, and yes, Desi is precious! Some of what I love about your videos is that you speak of important things, and you are sincere.
Can't wait for your videos each week..You are so inspiring to me. I have a new mantra this week. It is " I am special, and I deserve to be happy." Sometimes you just have to believe to become. Keep on inspiring all of us. Thanks Barb
I LOVE IT BARBARA!!!! You do truly deserve the very best of life!!!
fasted 21 min... always want more!! I like things neat and tidy and I like my "stuff' around and I like changing decor seasonally. You and Desi bring so much joy each week, thanks for the smiles!!!
Hi Susan
I look forward to your to your weekly video, it like a good friend visit and we have so much to talk about and tell new things. I am now shopping at the goodwill center once a week too
Susan I enjoy you and Desi so much. Desi is so handsome, I really love him.
Thank you for sharing. Blessings and love to both.
I got mine fireplace because of you a year ago and I adore it. Thank-you Little Poet 💖
I love your blouse, it’s so pretty. Congratulations on your eBay store. Oh my I love the picture of the lady in the field. Thanks for sharing hugs
Your deck is like a fairy land...very nice and uplifting. Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them.
Another trip down memory lane.
Desi is adorable 🥰
I do look forward to your videos. So uplifting. You made it through all you’ve gone through of lives ups and downs. Have such a wonderful spirit 🌹💕😇
I love seeing your decorating and thrift store clips. It is so relaxing to watch.
Love your home Susan you have excellent taste. I like a cosy home too. My home is a mixture of both dark wood and light walls and floors, I don’t keep updating and adapt what I’ve got to modernise. I’m what they call O.C.D too but I just call it clean and tidy 😃
Looking forward to your upcoming video about Vivian and her life through the camera lens. Yes it’s really a vocation being an artist, whatever field you decide on. God bless Susan for another wonderful video and that beautiful Desi makes my day 🌸
You and Desi are something special!!!💕💕💕
You and Desi are awesome❣️🌟👸🏼🐕
I hung the picture of the lady in the field in my bedroom because of you. I love it. 😊
PS! You can't doubt me all you want my sweet friend!!! We are just throwing ideas out there!!
I love blue too and use it everwhere
@@MaryKayAbblett for me is the color that brings me calm and serenity with a pop of minimal light yellow accents it's my vibe for my home-
@@MaryKayAbblett Me too! Blue and always shades of pink.
Love you and Desi Susan! You make my heart smile. Hugs and kisses to you both. Have a wonderful week. See you next Saturday.
Happy new week Melanie!!!
Saw her exhibition in Paris! She was a great photographer and I love her pictures who are encapturing daily life. A really great talent!
Thank you for sharing. I love all your Thrift store treasures, something I enjoy too. Blessings to you and darling Dezi.
