I'm getting ready to make a big move to another city ... I'm 59 and doing this alone for the first time in my life... I needed to be encouraged bc I have been nervous about this move... but I need a hero so I will become one. Thank you for this video.
Hello MarieRose!!! You got this!!! This move is going to be wonderful and rewarding for you! A new beginning. Beginnings are always scary but so rewarding...I am saying a prayer for you and I know everybody here is wishing you safe travels and a glorious new life!!!! Love always & always, Susan & Dez
Hi Marie Rose you will be fine. I just took a leap of faith for the first time moving to another state at 54 years old. I’m doing it alone and I have made it this far and it has been quite an adventure for me. Enjoy this time of your life things will work out and be great for you!!!!!
I recently heard a saying that might encourage you. "Build your own ark instead of waiting on someone else to". It's v similar to your saying. I love that saying. I know you will be ok. One day at a time!
I’m 59 and moved across my state of Texas after growing up all my life in a West Texas town. After losing spouse I wanted to live closer to grandkids. It was scary, but it was the best move I ever made. Don’t be afraid of change, be more afraid that you didn’t at least try. Best of luck on your move.
Bloody hell Susan you made me cry again! When I moved into my small apartment I came from a shelter and I remember the feeling of putting that key in the door; My door! We forget sometimes in the struggle that it took some doing to get here. I still don't have much but it's mine. Thank you for reminding me to be grateful.
There is a large difference between a house, and apartment, or your home. When I walk in the door of my home which is a small apartment it reflects me and I love to look around and see everything here that I love. It does not matter who else loves it, the important thing is that I love it all.
Yes exactly right well said 🙏🏻 My dark goth-cottage decor isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and I wouldn’t want it to be to be honest. It’s me and it’s eclectic and unique 🖤
My favorite space is my prayer cottage in my back yard...I love decorating it....it is so peaceful...I can truly feel God's peace! Jesus is my everything!!! I love what you have done in your home.
This video made me so sad as I dislike my house so. It needs so much work, I hate having to go home once I am out and about. You have inspired me to update and find my happy place. Thank you.
Don’t be sad Pat. My home also needs a lot of work and I can’t afford to do that work. But I am trying to make it beautiful with paint and lovely ornaments and pictures from charity shops. I hope you learn to love it.
I've moved several times in past 30 years. I must express myself quickly in my space. I decided years ago to replace anything plastic with items of wood, stone, glass, pottery or metal. Nothing of plastic except few for food storage in fridge. Once you start conscious effort to upgrade your life.....you will feel empowered. Start with 2 or 3 pictures that you really feel a connection with at thrift stores. $10 to $15 can usually buy something colorful. You can upgrade later as you find new treasures. Don't keep ugly anything. If you think it's ugly....needs to go. Look for alternative that you think is nice. As William Morris has said " Have nothing in your home that is not useful or you believe to be beautiful."
Also....see if you can find copy of Alexandra Stoddard's book, " Living a Beautiful Life". I have read more than a dozen times. Was a life changed for me.
Walking into your home feels mystical, ethereal, magical. It's beyond beautiful....it's heavenly. Your artistic spirit is poured out throughout your whole home. I feel transported into a fairieland. I always feel very emotional while watching your videos. You have such a lovely gift. ❤ And then there is Desi. ☺ Very irresistible. Cute beyond words....🐶
I agree.. it has a beautiful feeling of the heart there.. and one of my favorite movies on the tv too.. Bridgett Jones's Diary.. Lol. I may have to watch it again this Christmas season.😅💕
I agree! I feel so much emotion watching these beautiful videos. Each one has so much truth, heart and emotion mixed in with wonderful words of insight and inspiration. I am a new fan!
I just love your apartment. The other day I ran into an on going estate sale & it was the last day. Everything was half off. I bought so much she was giving me 70 to 80% off. I immediately packed it away for my new home. Smaller house closer to my daughter. I will take inspiration from you. My bedroom is my favorite room. I have bought all new pieces since the loss of my husband and gave my old furniture to my daughter. I decided maybe I won't live in Paris, but my bedroom will make me believe I am. Thanks to you & Dez for sharing your experience & Congratulations on your Anniversary 🎉🏠
I love your spirit! May I also recommend my friend Joan here on UA-cam, who has just redone her apartment bedroom in a Paris theme: her channel name is Thrift Queen.
I was just thinking I would have my morning cup of coffee out on that terrace every morning possible. Just starting the day with the sights and sounds of nature is so therapeutic to the mind and soul . I live alone and have made my home my sanctuary . And the glow of little pools of light everywhere is the essence of cozy to me. Makes a homey, tranquil nest .
Susan....OMG, this really got to me. I have been on a very similar journey as you, pretty much in the same time frame. I am in a TINY apartment alone for the first time in my life. I love your apartment videos because they inspire me, they give me hope. Thank you so much for hope you have given me over the many years I have been watching you. Love to you & Desi, from CA.
That tall floral arrangement with lights on the Bombay chest will always be my favorite piece that you have. Gorgeous!!!! Your home is absolutely beautiful Susan. I'm glad you took the chance and moved there.
When you filmed yourself from a year ago. You look younger now. Really. You are doing something to yourself. It could be from inside out. but look at it yourself. Right? !!! Your place is so cozy. I think you could go anywhere in your place and you could feel good. Desi looks so soft and is fur looks like he has been to the pet beauty shop. Maybe it is the light. thank you for coming into my home every Saturday. I look forward to it. Are you looking for a house ? if so. Have fun! Joyce
I think it may be weight loss Joyce...I was 15 pounds more in that clip and I also wasn't feeling well...that was the height of the pandemic last year...you are very very kind..when I saw those clips back to back I thought wow, I made it!! happy weekend!!! xxo Susan
Thank you as always for inviting us into your beautiful cozy happy home and taking us on your journey through your life!!!!!! I love you Susan and Desi!!!!
To me you’ve always had style. Everything you do is so well put together. I’ve always wondered if you were some sort of decorator or worked in merchandising ? I mean if you ever got bored and had some free time you could do staging. Your apartment is very beautiful and to me it’s very eclectic. It feels very comfortable but also feels like a home !
Sue you have turned that darling apartment into the warmest most inviting home I've seen in a very long time. Shoot, I can't believe your beautiful closet.....I could live in that....😂.. I love it. ❤️
I call my little apartment my Nest, its cozy, safe, and comfortable! I, like you, want to own a home again, but I have enjoyed decorating my little nest very much!
You make your apartment look so cozy. You’ve created a great “ nest” for you and Desi. I love how you’ve decorated your closet... something I never thought to do before. I think Desi really likes his new toy. Desi steals my heart every time I see him. He’s a gangsta’ for sure.
Hi, I find I subconsciously wait to see Desi - and I always smile involuntary when I see him. He is so cute and I believe, understanding. It amazes me that a little dog which I haven't even met, can bring me so much joy every week xx
Oh Susan, I don't know about being a poet but I certainly do confess to being a pirate. I have stolen many of your wonderful decorating ideas for my home. I get so excited when the notification bell rings on a Sunday afternoon to see what delight you will be bringing into my life that day and I am never disappointed. It is a rainy day here in Auckland New Zealand but that is in my favor as I decided to go down the imaginary road with this video. I turned on my heater, mind you only the light as it's 16deg here today, (yes it is the same one as yours's, a pirated inspiration) I lite a sweet smelling candle, snuggled up and pretended I was sitting in that beautiful chair of yours beside your heater. As you chatted and looked back over some of your shopping sprees, I sat there reminiscing as I had been on many of them with you. You are such a sweet soul and I am praying that yes you and your best friend will be moving soon into your own little cottage. Yes I do believe in miracles because one happened to me.
@@irenejennings7810 Oh yes to that, but isn't it so nice that whilst we can't, we can go with Susan on her shopping sprees. The goodwill shops in the US are amazing, are they not.
I could sit in your flat with nothing to do and I wouldn’t be bored. It’s so beautiful with so many things just to sit and enjoy looking at. It’s stunning!
I’m a homebody, so my home is my sanctuary. I don’t follow any specific trends when it comes to decorating, just what I like and looks cozy. I have a covered porch and decorate it for the seasons, I would say it’s my favorite “room” even though it’s not a room. It is my favorite because everyone can see it even people I don’t know. I get many compliments on my porch decor, many people tell me it looks so cozy and inviting.I love that, because that is exactly the reaction I want when people see it.
Your home is warm and welcoming. Most importantly you have a special little man who is always glad to see ya. I've always said if men would act more like dogs, there would be less divorces. Desi helps to make your house a warm, cozy place to share and call home. I know you see your home every day but it really is lovely and inviting. Most of all you are so very blest and talented. I look forward to, what's Susan and Desi up to every week. Thank you Susan for just being yourself! Please give Desi a hug and a scratch behind the ears. From a friend in Texas!🇨🇱 By the way, I am 65 and live alone with my two Shihtzu's, Mozart and Monet! God bless!
Your home is warm, full of light sprinkles from every angle, sophisticated yet comfy, elegant, charming, peaceful and gentle. I think it really reflects who you are and what you put out to the world. Lovely meeting you :)
My favorite room in my home is what we all call, "Club Melly". It's a screened-in Florida room off the back of my house. I have twinkle lights and plants, and photos of my favorite people strung across one side of the room. Windchimes greet me on two corners of the room; gifts from friends who know me, and love me. In that room, I feel known and loved. I happened across your channel and was drawn to your peacefulness. Contentment is a gift. May we all be so blessed to unwrap its surprises, and settle into solitary adventures. Life is good.
My home is tiny but well loved! I decorate with treasures that belonged to my mother and grandmothers. And with gifts from friends over the years. Your home is so lovely and comforting! Thank for sharing your thoughts on design and making a home a retreat. I get a lot of inspiration from your creativity. Your videos are soothing to me - very much appreciated!
Susan, you have blossomed! It does not matter the size of our homes - I agree, we are so grateful to have a place to call our own, our home, our sanctuary. How blessed are we. You and Desi have taken that apartment and put your stamp on it, it reflects your warm, beautiful personality, the depth of your soul. It is wonderful to see you again. I smiled all the way through, my heart sings for you. You have made me look at my home and think, yep there is a wall (or two) for gallery art, more lamps, and not forgetting the twinkly lights! Thank you.
Your apartment is warm and inviting, just like you. You look brighter in your new place! I look forward to your videos every week! ❤ My favorite room is my family room and it's in the middle of a complete overhaul. New windows, new carpet, a new couch, new lamps, a new end table and it's all coastal themed. Not over the top but color wise. I can't wait! The carpet goes in Wednesday and the couch is here in my garage. It's a LoveSac. I also have some beautiful pieces that were my Mom's. I'm very excited 😊 My other favorite place is my hallway where I have a gallery of family photos and track lighting that shows them off. I'll be doing a wall of that in the family room.
My husband passed away and slowly my home became a reflection of my likes and treasures. I so enjoyed sitting in my different rooms enjoying my views and my beautiful things, gifts that had been given to me, things I had collected along the way from favorite places I loved. It was truly my home that I had created and enjoyed everyday. Even the bathrooms did not escape. I can identify with the joy it will give you. It was the first time I only had myself to please and such fun!
I agree with you about women like lighting. My husband could sit in a dark house but not me. I need lights. I wish I had more lamps than I have but maybe someday I’ll get more. I don’t use real candles because I’m afraid of a fire so I get the fake ones. I love your comfortable home.
I agree!! My late husband would sit in the dark no problem!! I still sit with one lamp & a little light in the kitchen...he only passed away last month, still hard to change...I miss him... I want to declutter & redecorate a little...so much “stuff” not furniture just a lot of extras...
I am so grateful for your vedios I have rewatched them over and over again to get me through extreme loneliness. They have literally saved me and have encouraged me to try harder. To have hope and to find gratitude in each day Thank you 💞🙏🐕
I Iove your home it is so warm and welcoming! I too have the cutest little 🏠home..it is approximately 630 square feet but to me it is the Taj Mahal!! In August it's been 2 years that I am here. It was a total wreck when I purchased it but HGTV inspired me that I could rebuild anything! In summertime outside is my job and I'm working hard to make it my own little by little! In wintertime inside is where I'm working to continue to make it inviting! It's always a work in progress but so fun and so grateful each day when I wake up to my special place❤️❤️❤️we all need that place where we feel cozy, safe, and at home sweet home!😁
Really love your balcony,I went to Goodwill with my mom after many months of not thrifting due to COVID-19.I call it "Goodwill hunting" I really scored today finding things that went with my decor,so happy to add to the cozy vibe.😊💛
Hi….I am just watching you in the last 2 weeks and appreciate your comments and soul filled journey. You are introspective and intuitive in your approach. With your new apartment what you did intuitively and with such grace is written in an older book called “ Shelter for the Spirit” by Victoria Moran. It is one of favorites and is about how your space shelters your spirit and what you are doing and have done so aligns with the principles in the book. I think you are special in more ways than you know. Thank you!
I love that you have a mirror on the wall at the end of your GALLERY WALL, by the front door. Just a thought . . . I’m wondering if you put a really tall mirror, like floor to ceiling that it might even look like the gallery wall goes on into a longer hallway. I found some beautiful very long mirrors with an ornate frame at Home Goods. I put them behind my night side tables and wow it really made the room look larger as well as reflected some pretty pieces and added a lot of height by my poster bed. 😊🌷👍please do not take this as an insult. I love that you added that mirror but wow, floor to ceiling would be awesome.
You are a true inspiratio🌻 My husband left me 2 weeks before my surgery. When I found out that I had 4th stage squamous melanoma cancer I was devastated! It’s taken these past years to rid my home of his belongings and today I packed his art supplies to donate. I feel free for the first time and a sense of being okay! I’ll be 60 in July and your inspiration has given me a new feeling of “Hope” Thank you for your openness, simplicity and honesty 🌸 We are all beautiful and deserve to be happy 🌷🌺💐🌸🌹
I so enjoyed the apartment decor tour! I always think your home is the kind of place that friends and family must look forward to visiting; it’s so warm and welcoming. Friends seem to find my home cozy and warm. I have one friend who comes in, snuggles down on the couch, looks around and sighs. I think that’s what I’d do at your place.☺️
Your home is truly the greatest reflection of who you are. I love the coziness and relaxed warmth of your sanctuary. Love the life you live and live the life you love.
Can you show us how you use fairy lights and candles around your house? I love the way your place looks with all the lights but I'm clueless on how to do that. thank you! Love your channel.
My favorite room in the place I am at right now, is the porch. It’s peaceful, and little. I am so grateful for it, with all my heart. I sit outside by myself and just breath. Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. I’ve watched the trees bud their leaves, and watched ice form on their bare branches. I’ve watched Owls, and Bluebirds, and Deer, from that porch, and the little blue tail lizards walking the banisters. I drink my coffee there and write in my journal. It’s kept me sane and given me an escape. I understand your love for your balcony, I understand it completely.
My favorite place in my house is a clean and straightened up one. Living with a 5 yr old granddaughter one can only imagine the never ending messes little artists love to make, or barbie doll clothes strung all over the house. Toys dropped here and there and everywhere. So when she and I clean it up and get it straightened, that is my favorite place to be. Another tip would be mirrors for a small home. Light furniture helps a room feel bigger, and yes a glass table is perfect to keep a small space feeling open and not heavy. lighting brings life into a home and you are so right about that. Have a blessed week Susan n Desi!
I'm Gwenda. David is my son. Your little dog is just precious!!! He's darling!!! Your apartment is just lovely !! Lord bless you and your puppy and keep you both!!
Hello, I am a newbi...I was so surprised that you have only lived in your apartment for one year. It looks so beautiful and 'together', it is just lovely.
Yes,decorating grounds us ..brings us a safety feature ,our essence and even a legacy that says,we were here: we lived our life however humble ,we mattered, we left a mark ...
My little 1 bedroom apartment is my most treasured place in the world!! You see, prior to living here, I was at the YWCA. I have been through a LOT of heartbreaking losses!! I am so very grateful to have my own home now! I have been here now 11 years. I absolutely love decorating and it has all been done from thrift stores. I love watching you Susan because we have so much in common. We are both older, I am 72, we have adorable little dogs, and we love shopping at thrift stores and decorating on a budget!! I look around my place and it so thoroughly screams my name! I lean toward elegance and my home is very elegant. When people come over (I live in a senior community) and see my place, they just oooh and ahhhh and wonder how they can make theirs look better. I love helping them, it brings me pure joy!! Have a lovely week and I will see you nexxt Sunday!!! Marrshia
Maybe the #1 tip is the one you've taught us, dear Susan: get as many supplies thrifting as possible! Not only is it less expensive, and organic///good for the environment, it gives you items you're not going to find my waltzing into Target and picking up the Magnolia Home line or Hearth and Hand that every 3d house has! ..... My favorite room in this apartment is the one that told me this has my name on it - having a dedicated library!!!
Thank you for showing us your space. I am 73& kinda an old hippy. Certain things give me peace. Music, salt light ,little lights& quirky things. I enjoy you& Desi so much. Always be you..☮👍♥️🙏🤗
It's the first time I have heard someone talking in such depth about what decorating is and means and how we can use it to give our lives more meaning and connect with ourselves and our family etc... you are so right! You have given me inspiration for how to decorate my new home I will be moving into in December. All the other UA-camrs I have been trying to follow and learn from just tell me to make everything beige..! Thanks for your energy and deep reflexion about something which is often seen as trivial... It's so important to create that sense of calm and comfort in our homes. XXX
When I was looking for a home, I left everything in Gods hands. Dear God you know what I want and need. Put me where you want me...Oh boy did he deliver!!! I feel so blessed at my home. We have a little creek in the back and deers. I love to be home. Thank you Susan for showing us your home. It’s beautiful like you.
Whenever I see all the beautiful things in your apartment I must always think it reflects all the beauty within you from which it emanates. Cheers dear lady…
The music you chose was a great compliment to your sweet home. We've been in this house 39 years, it's been in my husband's family for 100 years. Its a cute bungalow. We've updated here and there. It's ready for a new coat of paint and some sprucing up. Thanks for the ideas!
Your apt is beautiful. Can't imagine having a closet decorated like that. I have 4 walk-in closets filled to the brim and haven't worn a third of the clothes. Admire you for clearing out unworn items. I think you can be happy anywhere if you have someone to love. And Desi is the perfect love bug ❤️
I’m searching for artwork for our bedroom walls. Artwork that makes the room cozy and welcoming at the end of the day is what I’m looking for. I love your style and look forward to your videos each week, seeing you and Desi. Love your apartment and everything you have done to it. So beautiful, just like you! Blessings from Central Florida.
Cindy P. I also have a home in FL that l just inherited. My husband and l started the process of updating it and turning it into our home. I have kept some items that were my mother’s bc l want to retain her memories, but her taste in art is not our taste at all. We are going to go to a lot of the art shows that we have around us this winter to look for new paintings . Maybe your area has art shows too. Artigras in Palm Beach Gardens is a good one in Feb. but there are so many up and down both coasts .
Because of Susan’s inspiration over a year ago, might be two years ago, I started looking for real oil paintings. I don’t know why I hadn’t considered them before. I’ve since found one and two watercolors that the whole family loves.
So nice to see your apartment and how you are settled in with Desi. I live alone since my husband died in 2014 and I got my little bundle of joy after I stop working in 2017. A wheaten Cairn terrier named Otis Ray.. I named him after Otis Ray Redding😍 He is going to be five years old in January and every time I see a picture of Desi sleeping on your bed it reminds me of Otis because that’s where he sleeps.. I love your videos, I too picked the decade.. I decorate between the 40s and 50s..my favorite era.. you are so warm and refreshing you’re like a comfortable friend that I have known forever. May the Lord put a hedge of protection around you and Desi.. have a blessed night and thank you for being here for us..loves and hugs from me and Otis from Massachusetts❌⭕️❌⭕️
Dear friend, you are such a beautiful lady and so talented, never feel inferior to anyone! Your coordination of lovely soothing music and beautiful photography is stellar.I’m a great grandmother who had a wonderful life with my soulmate, a career and large gorgeous homes. I am now a widow and live in a 500 sq ft Cottage that I love! When I look around there are old and new belongings, hundreds of photos that I took over the years and sweet memories to cherish! When my two great grands come over and their tiny little arms hug my legs, I know why I am still here, God has a purpose for me! Thank you for the love and encouragement you share, it is so heartwarming. I love your apartment, it is such a warm welcoming home for you and little Dessi!
Decorating is the outward appearance of the inner soul, or it should be. The backdrop of a simple beige wall becomes the bountiful color of Autumn with artwork, pillows and a scented candle. You have vision and the ability to make a concept come alive. One year and growing. ❤️
An assortment of Lamps and Plants really makes a statement My house is huge with three floors and lots of stairs but I love it Every month or so I tried to add something pretty and new Cute Desi
You have inspired me. Your apartment is so cozy and beautifully decorated. I love the tip on lighting. I’ve lived in my small place for years and never decorated it completely the way I wanted because I was always waiting to move to a home I loved. The key is gratitude and loving where you are and making it your own.
I have some of those "word rocks"...picked them up at an estate sale [pre pandemic era]..."Hope," "Wisdom", "Charity", and "Faith"! Incorporated them in my frog scenarios! They are laser cut and the lettering is very sharp! I live in a 1919 bungalow...the home I grew up in, six rooms and a full basement! I will be here for the rest of my days! The place is my "time machine" furnished in the 1920-1950 era. Your apartment is very neat, warm and creative. We have to live with items we enjoy...reflecting our inner spirit! My closet is of a "little ol' man" tastes! My basement workshop is my "sanctuary"! I'm a "tinkerer", restorer of vintage radios, Victrolas and furniture. Today, just added another frog to my collection...he is a "Santa Sprogz Frog"! Plants, well, I'm not a plant man...have a couple of artificial ones...no water or fussing over them...just dust them!
I moved into my own two bedroom sanctuary just a couple of weeks before you. Unfortunately, I was in much more of a lockdown so could not follow my passion of thrifting. I lived vicariously all last year with you and especially seeing the joy you received from that perfect piece. Thanks, Susan and, of course, the wonderful Desi! 👍🏼💖🇨🇦
I always believed and still do... Do what makes you happy and puts a smile on YOUR face. Life is short, enjoy your home, big or small, it just doesn't matter. Who cares what others think, do YOU! I truly enjoy you and your channel!
Your home is stunning! I remember when you moved in and I thought it was beautiful. I loved the before and after videos. It was fun to see your progress to the beauty you have now. I just want to crawl through the screen and curl up on your couch and read a book! I feel the way about my home also. I bought my house 6 years ago. I am 52 years old now. Up to 6 years ago, I either lived (after I moved out of my parents at 18) in dorm rooms or apartments so I always had to have white walls. When I purchased my house, I painted every room a different color! My family and friends thought I was nuts, but when it was all complete, they loved it! I agree with the lighting. A soft light is what I enjoy and what I feel makes a home. I love just to sit and enjoy my classical music in my living room and not do anything but be still. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God. Thank you for another wonderful video! May God Bless you!
You nailed it when you said, "My home is EVERYTHING!" Your decorating speaks volumes about you! It reveals your talents, your loving personality, expressing what you love! For me, when I walk into my home it gives me a big hug and says, "I'm glad you're home. I've missed you!" Susan, you have made yours perfect and yes, your apartment makes people want to stay! Your lighting is exquisite! All of your colors are warm and inviting! I hope you and Dezi get your forever home soon. I am still waiting for mine, but until then, I have made my little rental a miniature Downton Abby. Oh so many thrift stores and antique shops......... Love you! and sweet Dezi
@@LittlePoet The tea pot is on and the raspberry meringues are ready! I have something special for Desi too! (Don't let him know I misspelled his name, he'll think Aunt Ginger had a senior moment...ugh!) lol hugs till next week. Have a sweet one!
My favorite thing in your home is your bed!! It's absolutely fabulous! The camera always goes too fast for me when you show that bed. It has such strength and character, I think it keeps you safe and protected at night as you sleep. It's a magic bed and I'm so glad it's yours!
I think you've made your home so warm and cozy. I think what I love most about it is that it is an expression of you and how wonderful it is to have a space that is an expression of ones' self!
I called it when you asked what we thought was your favorite piece of new furniture, I immediately called out that gorgeous coffee table! See, we do watch and we can see what brings you joy!
You have created such a peaceful, happy, truly beautiful sanctuary for you and Desi. I have always taken pleasure in decorating every apartment and house I have lived in and making it a home. Now in my tiny cottage I have just enough…its filled with with color, art, plants, and sunlight. I find myself surprisingly content in my accidental dream home. Sending love and hugs to you and Desi.
Susan - your home is rich and textured, and cozy and welcoming. I love artwork on the walls but I'm not as good at keeping plants alive but I always try because they bring so much life to a room. My tip would be using mirrors in every room to bounce the light around and make a room seem more spacious. My esthetic is French Victorian Cottage. I have a two bedroom apt. with a balcony as well. It means everything to have that little private bit of outdoor space to decorate and enjoy. Not all year around, though. I'm the Michigan girl from the Lansing area so I know it can't be year 'round. Again, your home is just lovely, my friend. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Blessings - Judith 🎵🎭🍁
@@LittlePoet I'm there with you as well, my friend. My second husband died of cancer but we were together many years so I did what I could for him when he was ill. You can't shut off your caring about someone, even after a divorce so when you talk about your x- husband, I totally understand. - Judith 🎭🎵
Anyone can buy items at a thrift store, but you create magic Susan. I buy things, but can't figure out what to do with them. You have a gift of creating a magical place.
I love the way you decorate. You are very artistic & it shows. I love all the color & lights. I am into decorating with what I have accumulated over the years and I like moving things from one room to another and changing things up. I'm in the process of putting mirrors behind the night stand lamps in the master bedroom. I love decorating with lights and mirrors. Decorating gives me a lift in my spirits.
You must love having a balcony to sit out and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, so beautiful. Desi seems to love it too, you seem so at peace, you deserve the very best Susan, thanks for sharing your life with us. Oh I think my favourite room is actually my garden, this is where I feel happiest and serene ... just love it
Happy first anniversary. So very proud of how far you have come since I have been watching your channel. I love watching you and Desi share your wonderful, amazing life. You are truly a beautiful person. Thank you for sharing and may god continue to bless you.
I wrote you earlier today and my post is gone. I just want to thank you for appearing on my UTube.after I came home from the doctor depressed, been in bed for weeks after an injury, severely depressed, just turned 65. Alone now for 8 yrs. In my first home alone. So lonely and sad. My blood pressure was stroke level and I never have have experienced high blood pressure before but I knew I felt something was wrong. I laid down and you appeared out of nowhere. Since moving to Texas to help care for parents until they both passed has been so lonely. I questioned if I wanted to live anymore. There you were talking about living alone in our 60's. I just turned 65. I suddenly started changing my thinking and attitude listening to you. You have changed and saved my life. I am now looking forward to the future. Again I can't thank you enough. You were my guardian angel.
The apartment is beautiful and warm. Makes me remember how nice when I had a home. It's hard to not have a place to live at this age.it is so a place to let your mind and heart find peace. You and Desi have a blessed week and will look forward as alway to see you both
Sweet Susan ~ You have created a magical spot ... an oasis from the outside world! You have a great eye and sense of style; the home you share with darling Desi is everything! Hugs from California, Michelle 🍂🍃🍁
I also needed to hear this. Shes putting out some great inspiration 😊❤😉
Lovely to read your post
There is a large difference between a house, and apartment, or your home. When I walk in the door of my home which is a small apartment it reflects me and I love to look around and see everything here that I love. It does not matter who else loves it, the important thing is that I love it all.
Yes exactly right well said 🙏🏻 My dark goth-cottage decor isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and I wouldn’t want it to be to be honest. It’s me and it’s eclectic and unique 🖤
@@gramarye_cottage authentic, eclectic, is who we became in our Era. I'd have my friends no other way then authentic.
@@gramarye_cottage &
Your apartment is YOU. Lovely, and feminine, interesting, and unique a reflection of your spirit. And Desi is just the right touch.
You said that perfectly!!!
I love your decorating and all the fairy lights.
It does not matter the size of our home, it is ours and that is all that matters. I am just grateful to have a roof over my head.
An apartment IS a home. So it's apartments and houses - both are homes that people love and live in. And spiders too.
They say “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Your eyes see things as beautiful and so they are.
Yes Pat. I was in your position as well for many years. Got great deal fixed up with life insurance money, but one bathroom.
One little space at a time. Let your beauty shine one beam at a time!! You can do it!!
Susan you've totally blossomed, possibly again. You've come a long way baby; emotionally & physically and hopefully spiritually. Blessings to you 🙏!
I feel that same way too....
I agree.. it has a beautiful feeling of the heart there.. and one of my favorite movies on the tv too..
@@jeanneewaseck6635 Thank you
I was just thinking I would have my morning cup of coffee out on that terrace every morning possible. Just starting the day with the sights and sounds of nature is so therapeutic to the mind and soul . I live alone and have made my home my sanctuary . And the glow of little pools of light everywhere is the essence of cozy to me. Makes a homey, tranquil nest .
That sounds so lovely, I love the sound of nature it just makes me so happy. Your home sounds beautiful too. :)
I love what you have done with your apartment. It is so warm and inviting.
Thank you so so much! I know I am not " on trend" with the farmhouse white...but I love love love color!!! Happy weekend Chrissy!!!
You give me hope...to carry on...thank you...hugs
God bless!
I had a shitzue named Beethoven. Loved my little man.
Your home is warm, full of light sprinkles from every angle, sophisticated yet comfy, elegant, charming, peaceful and gentle. I think it really reflects who you are and what you put out to the world. Lovely meeting you :)
I love your balcony. It is beautiful and peaceful.
Love that concept! 🥰
the 'florida' room , always the best room of the house ....lol
@Anderson Dickson I don't chat with men who look for women on UA-cam channels. Sorry.
@Anderson Dickson yes I do
@Anderson Dickson You too.
Wow! It's wonderful to get new things I suppose. You are blessed! Have fun and be happy.!
@Faye E it's nice but there's always work to be done in a home you own.
@@carolsailer1395 condolences to you 🥺my husband died just before last Christmas. Stay strong, lots of love 🇬🇧xx
Totally agree, we are both retired…I get up and open all the blinds, turn on my lamps and go outside to my patio..beautiful 👍

I am so grateful for your vedios
I have rewatched them over and over again to get me through extreme loneliness. They have literally saved me and have encouraged me to try harder. To have hope and to find gratitude in each day
Thank you 💞🙏🐕
You don’t need a lot of money to make a home. Your home is warm and welcoming. Love it all!
I am a lamp person. I have two frog lamps. And about seven art nouveau lamps throughout my house. Plus several more regular lamps all over the place.
You are a true inspiratio🌻
My husband left me 2 weeks before my surgery. When I found out that I had 4th stage squamous melanoma cancer I was devastated!
It’s taken these past years to rid my home of his belongings and today I packed his art supplies to donate.
I feel free for the first time and a sense of being okay!
I’ll be 60 in July and your inspiration has given me a new feeling of “Hope”
Thank you for your openness, simplicity and honesty 🌸
We are all beautiful and deserve to be happy 🌷🌺💐🌸🌹
Nice apartment for a nice lady! God Bless you!
Your apartment is just beautiful. I love everything you've done to it. You're a very talented lady.
YOU ARE SO LUCKY TO HAVE YOUR G-GIRL WITH YOU!
I'm Gwenda. David is my son. Your little dog is just precious!!! He's darling!!! Your apartment is just lovely !! Lord bless you and your puppy and keep you both!!
You have a beautiful home, and yes, lighting makes everything look so warm and inviting, then in the morning you think, I need to dust!
Blessings from Central Florida.
hire a decorator and wait til you find art that speaks to you! lessons learned.
I am from central FL too. Blessings your way.
@Anderson Dickson I am doing good thank you for asking I hope you are staying safe and doing well yourself. Have a good night.
@Anderson Dickson Yes I did thank you I went for a walk with Otis today, went to my doctors appointment and I am home watching videos.
@Anderson Dickson Yeah long story short I have to have surgery on the first but I am from healthy Italian stock I will be fine! Thank you for asking.
@Anderson Dickson No that’s fine I enjoy talking to you
Dear friend, you are such a beautiful lady and so talented, never feel inferior to anyone!
An assortment of Lamps and Plants really makes a statement
My house is huge with three floors and lots of stairs but I love it
Every month or so I tried to add something pretty and new
Cute Desi
You have inspired me. Your apartment is so cozy and beautifully decorated. I love the tip on lighting. I’ve lived in my small place for years and never decorated it completely the way I wanted because I was always waiting to move to a home I loved. The key is gratitude and loving where you are and making it your own.
I love shelves, old books, old chairs, old pictures. Natural flowers and plants and fake ones too.
At 60 I became a widow. I did the whole house over, it's now a dream come true. It was so much fun, took 2 years to clear the place and make it mine.
Congratulations on turning your apartment into a warm, cozy and inviting home. The bursting of colors radiate your personality and loving soul. 😘👏
"...not much, but it's my home--and it's everything." I just love and appreciate listening to your thoughts.
Ok Ginger....me and Desi are on our way!!! Downtown Abby here we come!!! Big Hugs to you!!! always, Susan
@@LittlePoet The tea pot is on and the raspberry meringues are ready! I have something special for Desi too! (Don't let him know I misspelled his name, he'll think Aunt Ginger had a senior moment...ugh!) lol hugs till next week. Have a sweet one!
@@gingershaffer2547 Oh this sounds so so good Ginger!!! Desi will dress in his Sunday best!
Simply put I love your apartment.
My favorite thing in your home is your bed!! It's absolutely fabulous! The camera always goes too fast for me when you show that bed. It has such strength and character, I think it keeps you safe and protected at night as you sleep. It's a magic bed and I'm so glad it's yours!
Everything you said filled my heart with joy..decorating is everything 🤗
I think you've made your home so warm and cozy. I think what I love most about it is that it is an expression of you and how wonderful it is to have a space that is an expression of ones' self!
Loved your little tour! Your home is lovely and so warm and inviting! You and Desi are blessed! ❤️🐾
I called it when you asked what we thought was your favorite piece of new furniture, I immediately called out that gorgeous coffee table! See, we do watch and we can see what brings you joy!
Thank you for the tour and the memories. Your home is you. It reflects light and warmth. Stay happy and enjoy every season.
Hugs from Texas.
This lady has that special touch. Brings joy to my heart.
Love your apartment! And love Desi!!!
Oh thank you so much for your kind words, Judith! Keeping the live plants alive is challenging!!!!A lot like marriage for me!!
You have a gift of creating a magical place.
oh my..what a beautiful to say....I love magic! Happy weekend to you Miss California!!! Beautful you!!!
I love how you say “we’ll be here” at the end. ❤️❤️❤️
You must love having a balcony to sit out and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, so beautiful. Desi seems to love it too, you seem so at peace, you deserve the very best Susan, thanks for sharing your life with us. Oh I think my favourite room is actually my garden, this is where I feel happiest and serene ... just love it
You truly are 'living in a rainbow'. Thank you for sharing your decorating ideas. Desi is a real little character and a sweetie!
You and Desi have a blessed week and will look forward as alway to see you both
I love the way you have decorated your home. It’s you and that’s all that counts.
Sweet Susan ~ You have created a magical spot ... an oasis from the outside world! You have a great eye and sense of style; the home you share with darling Desi is everything! Hugs from California, Michelle 🍂🍃🍁
All that matters in homes is the love. Big home or small home it's the love that makes it worthwhile.
