Patrick your the best! Like a lot of folks on here I have a 2018 RGU I bought new with and now has 15000 miles. Typical sumping issues. I gonna do my cam soon and you guys have my business for many reasons, not the least of which the great how to's you put on U tube. Thanks so much!
I put in the S&S 475c cam in my bike a few years back, just gunna run it until the engine needs an overhaul. Also doesn't gear drive require a measurement of crank runout, which the factory Harley crank doesn't always meet?
You do not need to replace the cam bearing on '23 and newer....it already comes with the updated bearing. No need to waste money on the one-use-only tool. You can read the bearing part #...Koyo...xxxxxx. So, before wasting the time, risk of damage and tool expense pulling a out perfectly good bearing, give the thing a look and see if it is already the updated style. It'll be obvious. If you don't have the time, just buy a bunch of things you don't need. I do this kind of thing over the winter so I have the time.
would you recommend replacing and or welding the flywheel with a gear cam setup to never have to worry about run out? im a worry wart and just want my parts to be bolted in
you forgot a huge step. you cant install a gear drive unless you have less than .003" runout on the crank. You will need a aftermarket crank. HD cranks are garbage. You wont have a hd crank good enough to do a gear drive.
This video is on time... I've been thinking about replacing my stock oil pump and cams. I am thinking S&S 475G cam kit.

Best gear cam install video. I’m planning to install a 540 gear cam on my ‘19 SG soon so this it’s very helpful.
J&P Cycles.. Nice job as always Patrick..
On the cam plate did you mean 90 to 100 inch pounds you said foot pounds ?
I was wondering the exact same thing.
Yes. Otherwise kiss your engine case goodbye
That’s a slick tool.

Also, crank runout video - ua-cam.com/video/zHTnnjh1ol0/v-deo.html
Does it matter which way the lifters go in? Whole facing each other? Or facing rear or front?
very well explained, great video.
Nice video .
Probably should have mentioned crank run out. Pressed HD cranks dont have the best tolerances
We used an S&S crank. Runout is fine ua-cam.com/video/avIWauRkzLM/v-deo.html
Great video. Just need a crank runout measurement video.

Makes me wish I was an engine builder.
9:00 ... Should that be 90 to 120 inch pounds?
YES
Good info for a m8
It looked like you forgot the large rubber gasket behind the oil pump, besides the two O’Rings??
Why a gear drive? Why is the chain drive the kit of choice?

Why do all these mechanics finger these bikes for TDC, just look at and use the timing marks on the sprockets/gears for exact TDC.
Explain this one to me please?
Horse tourqes is good ummkay
