Congratulations I bought a 2005 Softail Deuce with.just under 17,000.miles. I.took it to 20,000 miles.and.had. the full works S+S Gear Drive with 509 G cams , Adjustable push rods , high volume oil pump , cam plate ect ect. Let me tell you I am not a mechanic I can do most stuff but I left this to my mom and pop shop. With the S+S kit and fitting and Tax it came out.to.around $2,500 ( mainly.because.S+S had just had a price increase)my.luck.But.Thank God I've got those shit cam chain tensioners out of the bike. Whoever had that bike before you was on the right track putting Gear Drive in and saved you a crap load of money . Enjoy 😎👍
How are you likeing that 509 upgrade? I have an 01 Deuce and she's up at 21k miles now. I'm itching to buy the kit already and get rid of the tensioners too.
BigBlock, the front cam will have the grind or number stamped on the end if you look close. Example S&S T 510G would be the 510 and the G designates GEAR DRIVE. Nice Scoot !! T.S. RACING 🇺🇸🏍👍
Yes Sir you're welcome. I forgot to mention that the cams can also be from FUELING or ANDREWS, with the S&S gear drive. I don't recall if they're marked visually like the S&S as 99 percent of the time I use the S&S. I have a drag bike in shop with some ANDREWS cams and they're marked with a 2 digit number like 64G. 64 being .640 lift and G for Gear Drive.
That pipe has been on the big for 5 years and has minimal scraping on it. I didn't think I would like it at first. But the bike builds so much power with it that its awesome.
This system produce a low whine like noise from the cam cover area? My bike sounds similar to yours but it's hard to tell for sure if that's same sound mine has.
It is very low whine noise which means that the run out was very minimal when installed. Ive heard some that are loud and very noticeable. I would have never know it had a gear drive if I didn't pull the cover and see it.
CFM on standard heads doesn't change above .475 so it's all about the duration. S&S .509 with standard compression or go the whole way. I have fueling .525 but going with .509 for 99% of the time they have more useable torque.

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sick sounding cams, sweet ass bike....
Thank you
How has the D&D pipe been. I like them but do they scrape a lot on the right hand bends?? Your bike sounds tough 👍🏻🇦🇺

I’ve got the same in my 2005 Fatboy.

Song in background?
That would be "Outlaw" by Marty Ray Project.
585 cams
