- Wear a helmet if doing this, plenty of chutes with loose rock to fall on you if kicked down from others.
I hiked this trail via the sea to sky gondola round trip about 8hrs including grabbing the camera.
Thanks to Paul Romein for flying the drone!

Amazing camera work, amazing performance, beautiful music.. this is one of the best adventure videos i ever watched!
Spider-Man, you are a superhero!!
This is incredible Brandon! Keep up the good work. Love these hiking videos.
Yo Brandon, don't think I missed your Yard sale on the snow. Just sliding down and tried to pick yourself to safety. Whoop! And there goes the pick! Great video man! Make more. Please. I am bored due to Covid and need more hikes to watch!
Really nice.
Never seen someone capture the pink slab quite this way. Brings back a lot of memories. Sky Pilot is one of my favourites.
Thanks! Yeah the drone helps get perspectives that are hard to get with a go pro
So film with a go pro when you hike? And where do you put your drone? Your backpack seems too small to fit a drone.
@@DeeDee-vl2sd I only had two shots in the video with a go pro, the one going up the snow and going down. The rest was shot with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, on a tripod. The drone was in my bag! I was using a Mavic Air 2 so it packs down pretty small.
Good job capturing all those camera angles 👍
I LOVED this! The solitude of it made it captivating! This guys a bad ass and makes it look easy!
One of the Best video hike to skypilot I've ever seen here in You tube! Youre one of the Best Brandon! Regards from the Philippines.
Thanks Chucky!
Always wanted to know about this hike. Thanks for showing us.
Always wanted to see a more detailed look at sky pilot, you did a great job at showing us the major moments, and again going back down to get the camera is quite the feat. For me would be a turnaround at a good vantage point or before the climb.
Thanks! If you weren't comfortable with the scrambling bits there are some bolts and rappel rings above the pink slab if you're wanting to bring a rope.
Perfect video. Beautiful.
Amazing stuff man! I’ve been watching through all of your videos and they’re absolutely jaw dropping
Thanks a bunch!
Awesome stuff man, can't wait to get back into scrambling and free climbing again
Insanely well done! The fact you did this on your own and it’s got lots of style is awesome, ik how hard that can be. So thanks. Also, the 1st person audio and piano music reminds me of Minecraft haha
This is amazing!
Really enjoying your videos! You and foresty forest are my fav youtubers now for hikes
Thanks!
Very Impressive, you make it looks so easy
Very well done video. Valuable footage for those of us who are not able to get our ass up there. Peace.
Beautiful
dope video man! definitely getting the kraig adams vibes!
Awesome
Amazing video!
That butt slide tho from 11:00 to 11:15 LOL Glad you were okay after that! Awesome vid and I am so glad you filmed this and shared it! Your filming and editing is superb! I enjoyed it very much!
Thank you! Just was a little wet for the rest of the hike down
Amazing video Brandon! I landed here while doing a bit of research on ski pilot scramble and found this link on reddit. Thanks for all your efforts!!
I hope this video helped!
Amazing! :)
dope!
Need a collab with LifeOfLuke
Front point bro you’re sliding all over!
haha I'm a snow gumby
The best skypilot video on UA-cam
Thanks!
That was incredible!
:) 🤜🏻
Always wanted to know how to do that.
Incredible Video bro. What kind of skill do one need to climb like that, Scrambling....mountaineering
Great video Brandon. What is the walking time from the top station of the gondola please?
I did it round trip in about 6 1/2 hours but I would allocate more if it’s your first time!
Thank you. This video inspired me to ascend finally Sky Pilot last Sunday august 14 2022.
Great job! I read your trip report in SW peak baggers group, good on you for being over prepared!
@@BCHiking thank you 🙏 for taking the time reading … realized I bought the wrong size and length of rope that practically exhausted my energy towards the last and most critical part of this alpine hike climb … will go back again soon and hopefully in a better physical condition with smarter approach and smaller backpack
The casual way you walk passed that guy descending and start climbing was absolute GOLD, dude!
Fantstic footage! What do you think of your RODE microphone? I'm trying to decide what to get.
It's pretty good for ambient sounds! Fairly sensitive and the auto on feature is pretty convenient
Incredible work. Such fantastic shots. What gear did you use camera wise? Tripod, camera, gopro... a friend with a drone...
It's all the description!
cool beans!
Hey bud! Thanks for this video. Thinking of doing it this weekend (May 2021) - do you think it's too early in the season to go for it? Also - do you think there's a spot to camp up there?
If you're okay with hiking mostly snow it'd probably be doable, but not as enjoyable until probably June/July when the snow melts. The scrambly bits at the top wouldn't be too fun with snow in the mix. At around 4:20 in the video just before the pink slabs there's a pretty nice spot that has some flat areas where it looks like some people have camped before. If you look at the drone footage at around 0:15 seconds the camping spot is in the middle of the screen. Might be a bit windy though!
@@BCHiking thanks so much! Will wait ‘til august :)
@@Deweythesecond It's august! Considering it tomorrow. How long do you think it will take from the top of the Sea-To-Sky gondola?
Is this a good climb for aspiring/beginner mountaineers? I’ve done a good few overnight trips in the backcountry with my dad and more recently just my friends but I want to get into some more extreme stuff.
I’d say if you’re used to a bit of climbing it’s easy, if you’re used to mostly hiking then it’ll feel hard. Technically it’s not too big of a day (First time I hiked it it was car2car in 6 1/2 hours at a casual pace) but it can get bigger and more real if you’re not used to exposure or heights. I’d recommend easier scrambles first like golden ears or needle peak. If those feel way too easy, then maybe you’d enjoy Sky Pilot!
Is that semi-spire and hump on the left at 3:11 one of the Lions? ]
If not it sure looks to it.
That’s Habrich! There’s a few climbs on there I was looking at doing, specifically Life on Earth 10.c
@@BCHiking cool, I hope you get to do that climb and I would love to see that in person or posted on UA-cam.
I found Al's Habrich Ridge trail online, not sure if this trail takes you right to the base or the spire or not.
Also, how do you find these climbs and their ratings?
@@robhasenwinkle Thanks Rob, maybe I'll film it one day. There's a scramble route that goes around the side and takes you right to the top, but I'm not sure of it's difficulty. For climbs I use mountainproject to search the area, or from a guidebook.
@@BCHiking man I would like to see that potential video.
And honestly, I would like to do the hike that takes one to the base of Habrich.
I am also interested to do a hike with you sometime. I do enjoy scrambles too.
This is a piece!
Thank you!
How did you capture all these angles?
Camera on tripod, walk in front, walk back, repeat!
I sometimes get weak legs if I have to walk any cliff edges. How treacherous does it get along the way? Anything to make a person nervous? Haha
Everything up to the pink slabs is pretty easy, with some rockfall potential at the glacier. Once you’re up at the slabs it’s solid rock but its sheer drops on either side with some slippery talus sections above. If you’re not solid on 4th class scrambling it might be a little nerve wracking in some sections!
@@BCHiking hiking is a stupid hobby when you have a fear of heights like me haha thanks for the info. Sweet video man!
Is it class 5? More difficult than West Lion? Thanks!
Wouldn't say anything on here is class 5, more like 4th class so long as you stay on route
I’ve seen people go off route on the pink slab and it looks pretty dicey if you do. Easy to rack up real exposure if you traverse out climbers right too far. Agree with class 4 scramble. Fantastic videos dude. 👌
Would you rate this a class 3 scramble?
Depends on if you're a climber! If you are it feels pretty easy, if you're not it could feel pretty hard. I'd give it an easy class 4 rating but it's all subjective!
I did it. Piece of cake. Pink slabs were class 2 tops
