Caving in Skaha
Переглядів 775Рік тому
Cave in Skaha, Penticton. Fairly easy with ropes on all the steep sections. It should take less than an hour to complete, with about a 20 minute approach from the North Skaha parking lot. Tightest section is the end, with the rest being fairly roomy. I ran onto a group of three midway through the cave, and they helped film the exit squeeze for me. Link to coordinates of the entrance below. The ...

Mt Sir Donald NW Ridge Solo
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
Mt Sir Donald. Took about 12 hours from the bivy site below the col. Descent took around the same time as it took up, with a lot of the time spent routefinding on the west face bypass descent. Don't follow the line that is put up by the national park descent guide, follow the cairns instead. Most rappels were 20-25m. Cost 10 bucks for the national parks pass, and another 10 to camp at the bivy ...
Bugaboos - Pigeon Spire West Ridge Solo

Hiked on July 30th. B-S Col was still in, but the top was melting fast. Easy snow travel to the base of Pigeon with very obvious crevasses to avoid. Up to the base of Pigeon there were no crevasses, and no snow on the route. No rappels, except for the B-S Col. Drove up the morning of the 29th at 5AM, got to the parking lot at 5PM. Took 3 hours to reach Applebee camp from the lot. Woke up around...

Mt Robie Reid on August 29th, 2021 Elevation Gain: 2755m Total Time: 14:34 (including sitting in the car for 20 minutes) Length: 27.3km A little over 14 hours car to car. I ended up scrambling to the side of the first chimney crux, likely low 5th class. There's a water source up past the tarns about 1500m up that has runoff from the glacier. Bring a headlamp.

6 1/2 hours car to car. Drone flying was done from outside of the park boundary. Please respect your local drone laws. Crux IMO was coming off the Markhor peak, might want to bring a rope to rappel if you're not confident downclimbing. Started from Lions bay. About 8 1/2 hours car to car. Hiked on October 3rd, 2020. The scramble to the peak from the ridge takes about 10-20 minutes one way. Make sure to follow the right path up and down (marked by orange markers), or it gets significantly harder. Very informative for me, can't wait to hike the trail next month. Any bear sighting? I might need to rent a spray just in case. Thanks!
Didn’t see any bears when I went, but I know they’re in the area!
going to visit BC mid July just to do this hike.. going to make short and sweet.. any thoughts on this route during that time or, anyone wants to do this on the same date?
How long did it take to get to the peak from the start?
I think around 6-7 hours
Great video! love your videography work! what camera slider you used for this?
Thanks! I used the IFootage shark slider nano. It’s a 2 axis slider and I put it on the Peak Design travel tripod
Bucket list hike unlocked 😮
It’s pretty good! One of my favourite hikes in the Garibaldi area
That is heaven
Felt a little hellish on the boulder fields below the summit haha
@@BCHiking yeah I can imagine, how long are you hiking on boulders for?
@@ethanderksen5131 Only about an hour and a half. The short scramble at the end makes up for it though!
Nicely done, it's a good thing you didn't leave your climbing shoes in the car, they could have been eaten by the porcupines. Nicely protected though on the back of your pack.
😂
AT what point were you using the rope for this scramble? Awesome shots, looking to do the Bugaloo's this spring
Was going to use it to rappel the BS col for pigeon but ended up not using it at all and just did this hike instead
Buddyyyyy... this is absolutely insane!! Would you ever attempt Opal Cone to Garbaldi Lake?
Maybe, would have to suss out the route first. I’m more interested in Mt garabaldi before the ski resort gets built on it!
Great video thank you! Loved the commentary at the end and appreciate your willingness to help another hiker
Thank you for watching! I would feel way too guilty if I didn't end up helping him
congrats 1k bro
Thanks rob
Pretty hard to keep my attention...But NEVER your videos Brandon. Please keep it up! Im a huge fan!
Hah! Thank you, though my own videos make me sleepy sometimes
I lived 12 years in Van and climbed lots but never this one......thanks for sharing your adventures
Thanks for watching!
Such an authentic video, deserves more attention
Gorgeous video! Hoping to do this traverse this summer. If you don't mind me asking, what backpack are you using? I've been looking for a new one and those side pockets look so nice! And the nice spot for the axe.
Hey! It’s the moment x strohl camera backpack. I’d say it’s a little expensive if you’re just carrying camping stuff, the hyperlite backpacks might be better for your needs. If you’re carrying a small camera/drone with camping gear then it’s perfect. Just enough room for everything!
Hello, how do you climb with such massive balls? Asking for a friend
This is how climbing should be filmed, awesome stuff
Can someone explain why all the cars parked in the opening scene have sticks leaned against them? What does this protect from or accomplish?
They're there to prevent the brake line eating porcupines from wrecking your car. I believe they're attracted to the road salt on the bottom.
@@BCHiking Ah. OK. Good to know.
Very well done..thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Many thanks to the bc taxpayers for flying your poop out. I'm ok with that as long as people pay for their own poop. Nice video
Only $10 a night to have your poop flown out! Worth it in my eyes
Wow, fantastic video! Makes it look easy
Thanks Rick! It wasn’t
great vision you have! Will send you an email to the one listed on your profile :)
Really salute ur effort to shoot all by yourself..i do some hiking video in my channel but not really as good as yours. 😊
Haha just gotta carry a heavy camera/slider with you
Wow! Lots of work to setup the camera, walk away, return, pick up the camera, and repeat. The resulting footage is clearly a few notches above the other videos taken with a handheld cam or mounted on the helmet. Some of the angles were very deliberate and the framing was very cinematic. The opening forest scene's lighting was very dramatic. Simply amazing! Thank you.
Appreciate the kind words!
Awesome video!
Thanks!
absolutely amazing stuff!
Loved the extra commentary near the end! It gives so much information and compliments the cinematic part
trail running on the way back was a blast
beautiful
Thanks Ammar!
Kudos on helping the injured hiker. Saved a SAR activation . And yes second always carrying a Satellite Communicator device.
Totally for having a satellite communicator, if not for yourself for others as well!
Very impressive how you managed to mostly keep the crowds out of frame, given that half of the lower mainland appeared to be there over the past couple of weeks haha. Excellent cinematography and how-to as always!
I left pretty early, so on the way up it wasn’t too busy. Was super busy on the way down though
<3 awesome as always
Awesome video as usual! Was a pleasure meeting you on the way up man, even more respect now knowing the setup you carry for these shots 😂
Great to meet you too! Haha yeah it gets heavy
The best hiking videos on UA-cam as always. Your videos show exceptional cinematography skills. Your hiking and climbing skills are truly impressive. Art. The commentary at the end was helpful and appreciated.
100% agree! Was just saying literally the same thing to my partner, that Brandon’s videos are many levels up of anyone else, especially now with the added commentary and tips. Really nice job!!
It's been a while.... can't wait to watch and enjoy...thanks Brandon
Hope you like it!
I love your videos. I really enjoyed your commentary at the end, too.
Thank you!
Next time do the West summit in winter! It's fantastic 😊
Hey man, 100% sure we passed you on the way down. Was good seeing you up there!
Hey, say hi if you see me again! Did we meet near the summit or somewhere else?
Wow, that was really great! Love the addition of the commentary, super helpful!
Glad you found it helpful!
Love your hikes and with you describing the details really adds to the video, look forward to the next one!
Next Alex Honnold!
I like how you totally ignored that marmot.
Didn't want to interrupt his sunbathing
Incredible cinematography!
What beautiful production
Much appreciated!
Beautiful!!
Thank you!
Normally I hate these type of videos but this is tolerable! No stupid music, no over dramatization. No fish eye lens. No stupid antics or asinine narration. Just a competent person going about his business. Well done. Maybe the first UA-camr I’ve seen that it looks like I’d be happy to do a trip with.
Great video! Just curious: at the 40sec mark you can be seen wearing a camera holder pack on your hipbelt. What pack is that exactly? I bike and ski with a large chest pack that is pretty bulky and cumbersome. I'm looking for a better option. I have a Sony mirrorless camera which I typically carry with a 70-200 lens. Curious if the bag you use might be a good option? Many thanks!
It’s the Moment Alex Strohl backpack! It’s basically a hiking backpack with a camera cube insert at the bottom. The hip pack is by them too, but I’ve found I prefer to just use a quick release system instead. The bag would easily fit a 70-200 lens, probably a 24-70 and the body inside the camera insert. If you have the hip pouch as well (I brought my Blackmagic and a Sony a7rii) you can carry several bodies with you easily!
I love your channel. Do you still use Alltrails for your GPS coordination?
Yes I do, though it’s been a bit unreliable lately so I’m thinking of switching

Excellent work and beautiful videography as always - enjoyed the commentary and stats at the end.
Thanks! I’ll probably be doing stats for most of the new videos I make
