  • [Werbevideo] I show you the easiest and best drystart method for a lazy start. Finally my first studio tank moved in! A FLUVAL FLEX 34L tank which i scaped with the lazy drystart method. Inspired by mountains for climbing in Indonesia include Mount Semeru, Mount Rinjani, Mount Merapi, Mount Bromo, and Mount Krakatau., i decided to make create an easy iwagumi layout for beginners. Simple and a low tech aquascape.

Absolutely beautiful scape. Fluval plant stratum is a must for any serious scapist and it's present in all 9 of my tanks. Very smart of you to allow the plants to grow in before adding water. For those who haven't used this stratum, it is a soil, so it cannot be rinsed and is prone to quite a bit of 'dust' if it's not covered with another substrate or a thick carpet of plants. If you do use a capping stratum, you'll want to use one with a grain that is larger than the stratum balls, as traditional sands will just sink to the bottom of the stratum.
I've been wanting one of these curved front Fluvals for some time, thank you for the great inspiration. This would have been an equally beautiful terrarium and I would have loved to have seen a fogger/mister coming down through the rocks.

I know the video is quite old, but curious, how did you deal with the bottom vent on the back of the tank when you filled it ? Did you block it off and only relied on the top vent ?

Hey Dante, i had no problems with the buttom vent and everything runs like it should 🤷🏼

Is the light strong enough for HC? Are you running co2?

I run the tank with co2. My hardscape build and soil is very high so it is very close to the light.
