Stardew expanded can be a bit overwhelming at times, but you get used to it quick
Kinda like the base game sometimes
It can get really overwhelming, there's so much new stuff to do and as a person who loves to 100% it has cost me so many hours lol.
@@lifedesa it took me like 50 hours to finally unlock everything lol, i'm still far from 100% tho-
I tend to treat SDV Expanded as like a DLC. It’s good for people who have completed SDV entirely and want more content and/or extra challenges that the vanilla didn’t originally have. Honestly love all the new dialogue and areas you can explore.
I played Expanded along with Ridgeside Village and HOLY SHIT I got overwhelmed so quick 😭 it was like 70somethin NPCs I had to introduce myself to it was insane. Definitely a cool mod but probably better for after I’ve done all the expanded stuff
I think the grandpa becomes a ping pong table is the most essential mod
Excuse me, grandpa becomes a what?
@@supercamborg4218 ping pong table
There's a mod for that? 😂 I'm loving this game even more
@@pou8295 I looked up the mod and found a video that was a compilation of different mods changing the scene with grandpa at the beginning so f the game. I would link it but then comments don’t usually successfully let me post them if I do, so hopefully it shouldn’t be to hard to find if you look on UA-cam for mods for this game for grandpa. One mod that stood out to me had Kirby use a new mouthful mode.
@@pou8295 yes. Look up grandpa mods there are so many of them
For me SV expanded is the best, it's so well done it looks like a huge update for Stardew Valley
I agree
What about Ridgeside Village mod?
What if I apply the mod to my old farm? Will it work? Or will it remove/replace things at my farm?
@@resenicascades4896 it depends on which version of mod you use. You see there are different versions of mods & smapi for every version of SV. Like 3.7.5 of smapi is only useable for 1.4.5 SV.
I would suggest you to store a copy of your farm before implanting mods.
@@RealNicolasDouglasridgeside valley is broken lol you can buy a prismatic shard for 4000 g at a festival in summer
I wouldn’t recommend expanded for the first playthrough. However, after playing the game throughly, exploring things, mining fishing farming etc doing everything you could, expanded feels like a new game honestly.
Personally, I wouldn’t really recommend any mod for a first playthrough, unless it’s really minor
I actually started my first play through with sv expanded, automate and some other mods (on a multiplayer world). It was a lot of fun lol. But getting used to the actual map when I switched to vanilla was wacky!
Yeah do the og stardew first so you can actually see the different with the expanded and not everyone will like big ass map 😅 takes almost half a day to walk around lol
@@salmence100 ui info suite, fish and animations, some good mods to use in your first playthrough
I played 1 year w/o mods then added mostly QOL and recolored mods, feel like a better version of the base game
I wish there was a version of the anime mod but it was just the cows
There is a mod called Cuter, Fatter Cows that does exactly that lmao
@@salmence100 is there a mod for fatter, cuter townsfolk?
@@superguy9834 you want a pam mod?
@@randomcatname7792 all of them
@@superguy9834 the intensity of that sentence
Some other quality of life mods!
1) Simple Foliage (just looks nice :D)
2) Canon Friendly Dialogue Expansion (so that you don't have to hear NPCs say the exact thing 15 times)
3) NPC map locations (so you don't have to memorize your future spouse's schedule lmao)
4) Elle's seasonal buildings (cute alternatives for your house, coops, barns and more!) + Any other Elle's mods
WHATS 5.
lol at first when i read 4. i thought it was Elli like Elliot and i thought ew since I dont like Ellieot but i realized its actually Elle 😂 (sorry elliot fans)

Anyways nice suggestions! they all seem pretty useful!
Ngl downloading the Anime Mod is probably the best decision i have ever made . Esp since it makes me even harder to pick which marriage candidate i wanna go with .
Please say you ment it makes you THINK harder, or did you say what you ment?
@@Black_Templar_ i mean i said its even harder to pick .. what .. what do you think i meant ? I think my english is good enough , no ?
@@raydranorae144 both of u need to touch grass
@raydranorae144 it should have been makes it even instead of makes me, as makes me harder implies penis
@@raydranorae144 it was, good english, its just that my screwed up head thought it was a penis joke, sorry
I recently downloaded ridgeside and expanded, started a new game, and have been playing for two days. Lemme tell you, when i started that new game and saw I had to introduce myself to SIXTY-SEVEN PEOPLE, I almost passed out. But it gives a good new feel that made me play stardew so much when I first got it on my switch.
automate is a life saver. ALSO chests everywhere. It helps a ton with organizing the chests and let you get access to everything anytime
i cannot play without chests anywhere!
automate is one of my favorites, it lets you put more kegs or furnaces and stuff like that, packed together with no space left open, but it’s okay, because it all goes into a chest automatically
Sometimes automate feels like really cheaty, cuz u can do some whacky stuff like put a chest next to a bunch of crab pots, put a recycler next to the chest and then also put a few worm things near it. Completely automated and highly profitable.
Also save you a LOT of time and resources, you don’t have to manually add stuff to each keg or manually take it out because it all just gets done for you. You can also do stuff like put chests next to the mushroom bins and not even have to check on them. Or put chests next to berry bushes and they’ll automatically harvest it. I know this is all intended but I’m just not sure if it’s the best idea for new players since it takes a lot of the legwork out of the game. Oh yeah and instead of having to make loads of cheese presses you can just make one, put a chest next to it and forget about it. So, your saving a lot of early game resources.
You can connect trees without taps to shake them every day as well. Also, you can change the settings to add paths to connect chests so you only need one chest for a group of trees
the seasonal outfits are also great!! adds more personality to each npc
Once you've played with Automate, there's no going back. I see it mostly as a quality-of-life feature. However, some machines are otherwise impractical, so it feels like the intended way to play the game. (Plus, there are associated costs, like crafting even more chests than usual.)
Deconstructors and the crab pot recycling machine combo definitely got way better especially with the deconstructing tackles
Stardew is literally pure pressuring me into a PC
android just got modding capability on the stardew valley android port!(though some mods don't work yet, improvements are still being made) the game is also free if you have google play pass
@@EthanLamoreauxoh wow I love stardew on my switch but I've been wishing i could play mods. I'm gonna have to get it on android.
pier*
@@Glitchmaster331peer* or I just missed the joke
@@violetskies14 I wanted to mod the game so bad i just ended up getting a pc lmao
You had my attention, and now you have my focus
Tractor mod is so good it should just be part of the base game.
It's direct cheating
You can make it super expensive since its for endgame stuff i make my tractor cost 20mil for challenge stuff
i highly recommend vibrant pastoral recolor mod. i don't see it quite so often as other mods but it's absolutely beautiful, most similar to vanilla actually, but everything is just a little calmer.
peachy objects pairs well with pastoral recolor!
and DC burger portraits!!! so beautiful! really brings all the characters to life!
as for the quality of life mods i really like ui info suite 2 and almanac mods.
Expanded is such a well made mod. Easily adds another 20 hours of extra content. Big praise to the creator(s)
Ah yes, this is very inportant to be watching at midnight when I play Stardew on Switch
I’m on console but the anime wiafu makes me wanna get a PC
Easy, just get a PC for anime haley
I mean it doesn't take much to run the game, you could pick something up secondhand for pretty cheap
@@BlahajBlast139PC is a great device for modding and playing Stardew valley, it's a popular choice
I first played Stardew valley on the switch for years until two days ago after watching all these awesome mods, I don't have a gaming pc but I have a normal laptop with windows so I bought an xbox controller, downloaded steam, bought stardew valley, learned how to install mods and now I'm addicted to it!
I use the earthly recolor a lot because sometimes Stardew normally can hurt my eyes is I play it too long and I also just like the aesthetic
i immediately ran to re texture and shader mods and couldn’t be more happier. Eventually, when i finish the game for the first time i’ll try gameplay changing mods. For now, the visual mods make the game feel so new and refreshed
man those recolors aré 👌
I have one that connects all of my chests so you can access everything at once and it's AMAZING
If you get the automate mod midway through a playthrough, make sure you don't have anything against the shipping bin. I accidentally sold pretty much everything I had
Hope you didn't save the game
shit thanks I have a furnace there
I literally can't play stardew without ui info suite now
In order to get rid of the mummies for good, you need to bomb them after taking them down with your weapon. Just wanted to let you know that!
Automate mod is S tier! ❤️
I want a expanded ginger island but like ginger mountain with acorns lol
Shouldve added the "Remove Fishing Mini-game" mod. Thats the best
I was so bad at the fishing mini game on PC, and repeatedly clicking the mouse hurt my hand. So I did download a mod that made the mini game basically un-loseable. Then I played on the Switch and it was so much easier. Playing the mini game with a controller instead of mouse & keyboard made all the difference for me.
Oooo that recolor one looks so nice
Oh so we're going at it with everything we have? Fine...
Xtardew Valley.
Yoooooo
For me, Cornucopia is a must. Its a set of 3, more artisan machines, more crops, more flowers. It's what it says on the tin and I love it
Pixel anime is cool. Noice
I love To-Dew, it adds an in-game to-do list that has lots of cool features like weekly/seasonal reminders or even weather related ones
automate and earthy re colour are 2 of my favourites! automate especially. pairing things with an autograbber in barns and coops is a life saver
Big YES to uiinfosuite2.
SVE is so great I can't even play the original game without it haha
Earthy recolour and sv expanded sound like nice combos
Pam horse and pam bus are also amazing fpr starters it really give a taste of what the games about
Me as an android player: let's wait for Zane and the 1.5 SMAPI update. The reward for our patience will be ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS
Automate is really cool in late game. It could take the entire day to do all the stuff at farm: two sheds with jars, one with kegs, one with crystallariums. And another one with cheese/mayo/clothes makers. And I have 5 animal buildings, so it's not so quick to put another 60 different items. Also there's can be ready furnaces, crab traps, mushroom cave, tree taps. And also 125 casks every 2-4 weeks (I use fairy dust to speed up the wine ageing).
I don't even plant anything, because it was even worse, when I tried to deal with maximum free space for crops. It was about 1400. And I don't even count the greenhouse and 430 crops at the island.
I had to use tractor mod one last year, but after returning in 1.6 I just ignored it at nexus. So I used the remaining space for 31 fish ponds. Now I'm free about 11:00-13:00 and everything is already selled. It significantly helped to do something else and still do not think about money
Seasonal Villager Outfits is my #1!! love seeing them all dressed up for the specific events, seasons, and weather 🥰
Little tip for the automate mod. You can fill every tile in your basement with casks and just put a chest near the bottom of the stairs for maximum efficiency
Personally, SVE and recolor mods are really amazing for me personally
SVE just adds so much new stuff and new people as well and I have reached the point of not being able to play without a recolor mod because it's too bright
Gotta love the automate mod for the pure fact it also automates the mushroom cave.
Ridgeside Village is super cool too!
I would love to use the anime mods but it's unnecessarily complex to set up. I want to be able to use it for Vanilla, SVE and RSV without needing to download 7 packages or overwrite files and without encountering issues and/or inconsistencies. As some of the projects are abandoned anyway, someone should update it and clean up the installation process. (One easy download for Vanilla and optional add-ons for mods or alternate portraits)
Same, I have more issues with compatibility with 3 or 4 mods than my 100 in Warhammer 😂
Yeah you do not want to know the amount of time I ran into issues trying to run the seasonal anime portraits mod. You can just drop it into the mods folder with smapi and content patcher and you'll be good to go, but I didn't like the updated portraits of Abigail and Leah, and i preferred Ohodavi's original designs. So I had to find replacement files to replace those folders and make sure they were named correctly, otherwise the pngs wouldn't load and the original portraits would be used. Not onky that, but I think seasonal outfits III had some portraits MISSING that seasonal outfits II had, so I had to look into each character folder to make sure all the seasons were covered. What a mess.
I got over 60 mods and have no issues
That includes
East scarp, ridge side, and expanded as well as the anime mod. Idk what issues you get, but I haven't encountered one yet.
Try using Vortex Mod Manager-because it uses 'deployment' instead of actually installing the mod. Basically, Vortex creates links to your mod folders, and _moves_ mods there, without editing the game files in any potentially destructive way, like manual installation. This means, with a little bit of fiddling, you can get mods that are either abandoned, broken or out-dated to work with the newest version of Stardew. So with the anime mod, you just download the base file and any of the patches for other mods you have, and Vortex sort of _mashes_ them all together...
I'm pretty sure it lets you get rid of SMAPI as well (which I've had issues with and don't like) because it has its own API.
Huh? Is the anime mod different than other mods? For me it’s just a couple clicks. I use the vortex mod manager and it’s super easy
"a little bit" :D
I am offended you didnt mention the amazing pam horse
gotta check out ridgeside village too
A man of culture i see
I wasn't sold on changing the character art, but damnnn that emily portrait changed my mind
I wish ConcernedApe put 2 and 4 in as settings.
I can’t wait to try expanded but I’m still doing my Ridgeside run and I don’t wanna give up Jeric yet 😅😂
I love automation, didn't know such a mod existed :]
Something weird I noticed in the game that I just remembered, is that if you look at the player and a villager, you notice that the villagers don’t blink, and the player doesn’t breathe
The earthy mod kinda nice ngl
DCBurger's mod is a top notch avatar replacer. Get it.
My favourite mod is by far Mr. Ginger. As someone who's violently aromantic, I like being able to just vibe with a cat :)
Do you not like Krobus as a roommate. I'm a lesbian and I was still tempted to just have him as a roomie.
The ridgeside village is one of my favorite mods and is completely compatible with stardew expanded
Ridgeside valley has tons of new NPCs, new events and stuff. I havent tried it yet, maybe once i get bored on the expanded 😂
Personally, I just like to use CJB Show sell price mainly because it shows stacked and single sell prices. It's subtle, but doesn't feel like you are making the game easier having it.
I just wanna add ann alternate as someone who got super overwhelmed and disoriented trying SDVE, try single npc additions (e.gMr. Ginger, Jasper and the like) or ones that appear later in game the same way Sandy and Leo do (e.g. Adventurer Guild expanded and such).
It's a way to get NPCs and a couple new areas without changing too much or feeling as huge. There's also mods to make existing non-giftables giftable which can also be great.
Then finally to get finishing touches try modding small additions to fishing, farming or foraging and you get a more customised SDVE feel allowing it to be a little less huge.
(also some mods I've got rn which are just small improvements are spam mail and Pride in the Valley as they just add a few small things here or there)
One that needs to be mentioned is Lookup Anything. It's pretty much like having nearly the entire wiki at the press of a button. Just hover over something, press F1, and boom! Everything you could ever want to know about that thing pops up immediately.
Haven't tried SVE yet, always preferred ridgeside because of the aesthetics, many new features, tons of npcs and implementation of already existing features onto the ridgeside village
Ridgeside is compatable with SVE. I personally like that it has a whole storyline with Morris if you go the Joja route.
Ah, I see you are a person of culture as well
1,2,5 and the tractor mod were the first ones I installed.
Me: *not a new modder*
Also me: ah. yes. a video for me
Stardew expanded + Ridgeside are my must to mods. The base game would feel small for me otherwise
I play with automate and it’s great, but make sure to separate items from the line of furnaces/other machines so they don’t use up something that you want to keep.
better crops and the mods like by that modder are fantastic too, just a redo of the crops and stuff to make them look more natural
Btw if your new, the exp counter mod is useful, you can track your exp
ridgeside valley is very good and similar to expanded but it doesn’t change the base game content it only adds on to the bus stop with a zip line up to the top of the mountain into a little town you can run it with expanded at the same time, you can even hire the npcs in the town to work on your farm !!!
A few things: at the moment UI info suite isn't compatible with the stardew mod loader, and with automate you can place casks and they'll work outside the cellar
I wish SDV mods could come to consoles like they did for Skyrim
for stardew expanded I recommend a few things:
1. be comfortable playing original stardew first. there's lots of content to explore there first and being dumped with all of the vanilla content AND the expanded content all at once for the first time can be overwhelming. also, I think it's just good to experience the original at least a little before adding more.
2. if you're a beginner modder it may be a bit confusing to download because you have to download other mods with it
Of course that's the kind of mod all stardew players are interested in and in all fairness it looks pretty good
the viewers:show the last mod right now in this instant
Guys got his priorities straight, most important mod indeed.
SVE "a little bit" bro it adds butterfish that isnt just a little bit this is revolutionary
Automate just turns stardew into factorio lmao. Factorio is good tho so YES PLEASE
Man I can’t believe you forgot the furry mod smh
bro forgot the hot pam mod
Anime Mod! I see you have some taste my friend😏
Sv expanded and earthy recolor are both must haves for all my stardew saves but earthy relcolor had some certain items that are not changed to that it looks really weird and it is hard to fix so just a warning for people who are interested in it.
I play console, and I desperately wish we had access to the earthy tones and automate mods. There are also a ton more that would make our experience better, but since my back is destroyed and I can no longer use my PC for long periods of time, I’m stuck with vanilla for now.
I always thought the brown ground in the mountains looked so much nicer than the yellow and wondered why it was the only area to use it. I'm a console player though so I can't change it sadly
I like paisley's bridal botique because i can customize wedding clothes haga
You best believe i was already running the anime mod
Can’t believe you didn’t mention tractor
Holy hell I did not expect Emily to look so... good
I NEED THAT AUTOMATE MOD
So wish I had a PC to play this on I've been stuck with mobile and when I get to huge production just moving around and getting to everything is such a hassle
Where do I install these?
Number 1 mod would be Pam as a horse mod
Emily's collarbone
U missed the tractor mod, this mod should be a feature in the game tbh
SV expanded for newbie is crazy 💀
I prefer the nyapu's portraits mods though
I genuinely love the anime mod
