    So glad you were able to get through your health crisis with relative ease! Love the idea of “studio chat” versus “knitting podcast”. I’ve never really liked the latter term as it seems like a misnomer in so many makers’ videos. I appreciate your thoughtful approach. ✨✨✨

    I cannot get over how pretty that Hydrangea colorway is that you're using for the headband!! I'm glad to hear you're recovering well after the emergency surgery. And you've made me extremely curious about the Versal pattern with your sneak peak of your green version.

    I really love your pod cast…. It is so much more than knitting or crafting.
    I’d wish more people would be more considerate and less materialistic. Kind of hard to do, but good way to focus our thoughts!
    I realized that especially during the pandemic , when I was home with my family…. I had all I really needed in life to be happy …. All under the same roof.

    Okay, that green of your Versal is like the perfect green! 💚💚💚 I have started a green summer shirt and now I want a green sweater, too. I'm working up a zipper sweater in a lovely hunter green unspun yarn for my 10yo son. Green is having a moment in my life - and I'm here for it!
    I don't know about any white leafs, but there are Magnolia trees with white blossoms. Just before the blossoms open, they look exactly like the white leafs on your headband. I love it!

    Congrats on getting a new serger! I learned a great tip from a local fabric store when threading and tensioning one for the first time is to make each thread a different color so that when your looking at your stitches they are color coded and you can easily spot which thread to tension. When you’re ready to switch to one color just tie the new thread on the ends and pull it back through the machine. You can probably use spools you already have if there’s an attachment for regular spools too. Really helped me figure out my machine quickly. Good luck!
    Also I love the beret!

    Appendicitis, not a very nice way to get extra knitting time but I'm glad that you're well on the road to recovery and was able to put the rest time to good use. I can't believe that you were in hospital for such a short length of time. Modern surgery techniques are amazing. I particularly love your Scout Shawl. The colours and yarn make a beautiful combination. The first time that I did colour work I knitted it flat as I saw a pattern, liked it and got on with it. It was before I discovered Ravelry and knitting online and didn't realise that purling was a 'thing' some knitters didn't like. I learnt to purl right from when I started knitting and whilst yes it is slower it definitely doesn't bother me. I feel quite lucky in this regard.

    • @brookwillow
      @brookwillow  7 місяців тому +1

      That’s awesome that you were able to beginning color work before heading others opinions of purling! I do think we all psych each other out sometimes with different techniques that aren’t actually too difficult or annoying 😅

      @@brookwillow I agree 100%. I love all the things I've knitting things I've learnt via You Tube and the internet that have definitely upped my game particularly in relation to adding finesse to my garments. However, sometimes I definitely feel we can be inhibited by so much information. This is where I'm at with a small steek that I need to do and in fact decision made I'm going to do it over the next couple of days. 😀

    I'm glad you're recovering well! This was such a cool episode - the Scout Shawl looks amazing, I'm stoked that you're making it! It's been on my list forever, as well. I love the way you're approaching this channel and I totally resonate with your approach to crafting. I just watched the 17th season of Project Runway and have been thinking a lot about the intersection between art and craft because some of the designers are so playful with their work. It's so fun to dabble and play, and so much easier when you're working across mediums. Can't wait to see what else you make!

    That was a wonderful studio chat, Ahna! Did you hear me chatting back? What a week! So glad that you are okay now. As always you inspire all the making, and I appreciate the thought-provoking life-style chat, too. Take good care. ❤

    I made the Scout Shawl too, love it. However, it will roll even after blocking due to the heavy double-knit fabric not being counteracted by the single-yarn, rather flimsy garter stitch edge. Sorry to say. I’ve asked around, and the consensus seems to be to add an I-cord edge, which I’m going to try. I’ll probably just leave the garter set too. 🤷🏼‍♀️
    I also had an emergency appendectomy, when I lived in Peru as a foreign exchange student. I had just learned to knit then, but I wasn’t hooked to the point that I used my down time for knitting! Glad you’re recovering well (I assume because you’re looking good). I bet the knitting really helps! 🧶 💗

    • @brookwillow
      @brookwillow  7 місяців тому

      That must’ve been so scary having the appendectomy so far away from home! I hope it all went ok for you 🥺 I definitely needed my mom haha. I don’t do well with needles/hospitals etc. I get so fainty!

    • @brookwillow
      @brookwillow  7 місяців тому

      Also big bummer about the scout shawl!! Haha I didn’t even consider that it may still curl after blocking. I suppose I will see how mine turns out. The yarn I’m using is super drapey. I’m not sure if that will affect the curl or not. But good tip with the icord! I will have to consider that if needed.
