I was gonna say as well. Usually Lars and Kirk leave me with an uneasy feeling about what I just watched, but they both were on point here.
I think it sucks with all the random fills. I understand improvisation but placement is everything. Especially on drums. I love Lars immensely but I just wish he was tighter live tempowise. I agree it gets better further in.

When you put your blood, soul, sweat and tears into a song, you don't need lyrics. Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted and Robert Trujillo proved that in spades. The look on Suzie's face sums up the pure bliss I feel every time I hear some stellar metal. When it comes to great metal, I just love to cut loose and headbang until my neck hurts.

I'm not 100% sure but I think this was the first time Rob played this live and he was terrified of getting it wrong
They played it for the first time in 2005 so this isn’t the first he played it
Rob is no cliff burton but I can say as a fan of these guys he definitely did right by cliff here and did an incredible job!
Was so privileged and will never forget seeing Metallica perform this live when Cliff was still with us! Master of Puppets is and always will be my favorite Metallica album!

I've heard this song 1000 times in my life, I never actually heard a version with Robert before tonight... it's not bad but I will always go back and listen the album or a live version with Cliff... no disrespect here but for me, this is the most Cliff song in the entire Metallica catalogue.
There was never a live version with Cliff. The only bassist of the three to play the song to completion live is Robert.

wait...you guys never heard metallica orion?...crazy...the one thing I like about this performance is the very end...rather than a fade out, which was epic on the album,...they do an actual ending riff...I though that was really cool....but who am I to criticize any song on master of puppets!!! definitely one of my all time favs
