I think it sucks with all the random fills. I understand improvisation but placement is everything. Especially on drums. I love Lars immensely but I just wish he was tighter live tempowise. I agree it gets better further in.
@@frankiebanali4202 Cliff never got to play it live before he died. The studio track is the only example we have and it's honestly really sad to think about.
When you put your blood, soul, sweat and tears into a song, you don't need lyrics. Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted and Robert Trujillo proved that in spades. The look on Suzie's face sums up the pure bliss I feel every time I hear some stellar metal. When it comes to great metal, I just love to cut loose and headbang until my neck hurts.
Was so privileged and will never forget seeing Metallica perform this live when Cliff was still with us! Master of Puppets is and always will be my favorite Metallica album!
First Metallica song I fell in love with back in the day! Never seen this version, thanks so much for reacting and to whomever requested it! Love you guys ❤️
They have that look on their faces because this song is more than a song this was Cliff Burton's Masterpiece and they have to play it like what Cliff imagined it.
I've heard this song 1000 times in my life, I never actually heard a version with Robert before tonight... it's not bad but I will always go back and listen the album or a live version with Cliff... no disrespect here but for me, this is the most Cliff song in the entire Metallica catalogue.
This is one of my favorite Metallica songs and it's because of the base and drums. I play it back to back because it's so awesome! This is one of the best instrumentals ever! Thank you for this reaction.
For those who go to Metallica shows hoping to catch a pick from the stage, it must suck for them when they realize that Rob is on their side. Keep thumping that bass Rob.
RIP CLIFF 💔😭 we love and miss you so much and thanks for your gift of music you left us ❤️🥃🥃🍻 Rob you are doing cliff notes and making them your own personal touch with you always keeping Cliff's spirit alive and kicking you are just the right fit and thank you so much for your own insight into the band 😉
wait...you guys never heard metallica orion?...crazy...the one thing I like about this performance is the very end...rather than a fade out, which was epic on the album,...they do an actual ending riff...I though that was really cool....but who am I to criticize any song on master of puppets!!! definitely one of my all time favs
As much as I love live versions of Orion I think the fade in - fade out of the studio version needs to be there. It makes the song feel like it's constantly playing in the universe and it only becomes audible every now and then.
Well. This damn song is so amazing and it's hard to find anyone to react to it. So, I am subscribing and Robert Trujillo just kills it on the bass no matter what but I love how he bangs this song.
shouldn’t make you upset, realize that your time on earth isn’t long and not every day is promised. he played bass like a badass until the day he died, whatever it is that you do, do the same. blessings 🙏🏽 and never forget cliff
I'm so old that I refer to Rob as the new guy, Cliff will always be the Bass player from Metallica to me... gonna check you channel to see if you've reacted to Bass Solo take one next
Hi guys, this reaction was amazing! (as usual of course). You probably have a lot of requests, but I would love if you could check out Welcome Home (Sanitarium) Live in Mexico City 1993. I think you may love that one, same record as Orion. Thanks!
You REALLY need to see a Live version of this with Cliff Burton doing it. The original. No slight to Rob....he is awesome. But Cliff was just built different. You will enjoy it even though you've seen this version. STR8 Facts!!!
@@apersonok8426 You're right. I was actually thinking of another tune...dammit, my brain isn't working right now...what was it? It is like...part of the bass bible to watch.
Great reaction. I’ve never seen this before. I quit keeping up with Metallica in 2000. I already knew everything, history, personal, and so forth . So, it’s good to find new stuff.
The next reaction, please honor Cliff also the song is "To live is to die" from the official metallica channel celebrating 30 years. It's very exciting...
Cliff never played the song live, and Metallica never played it until June 3, 2006, at the Rock Am Ring festival at the Nurburgring, when they played the entire album to mark the 20th anniversary of its release.
The worst part about this... I was at this very concert and dont remember them playing this Song... 35 Year old me is very upset at 20 year old me for not paying enough attention back then.
Fun Fact - James has the Bass solo notes tattooed on his arm as a tribute to Cliff.
Wow. That's cool
People: you cant make bass the main instrument of a song
Cliff: *hold my joint*
The hell you can't! I agree with Cliff!
Probably 1 of lars' best performances in the 2000s. Absolutely crushed it
I was gonna say as well. Usually Lars and Kirk leave me with an uneasy feeling about what I just watched, but they both were on point here.
I think it sucks with all the random fills. I understand improvisation but placement is everything. Especially on drums. I love Lars immensely but I just wish he was tighter live tempowise. I agree it gets better further in.
Real spill. He reppin for Europe
fuck the haters Lars is the man
@@jasonspencer7199 totally agree people seem to forget without lars Metallica wouldn't have formed.
I bet there's not a single time Metallica performs this live without thinking about Cliff.
Straight the homage to the man Cliff. RiP.
Hetfield looking to the sky during Kirk's solo, looking so sullen. Remembering his buddy.
It is Cliffs song and always will be 🤘🤘❤❤
Yeah, as a fan it's hard to watch. RIP Cliff. Man, Metallica has been blessed with some.sick bassists.
I agree and suggest they react to one of the versions with Cliff.
@@frankiebanali4202 Cliff never got to play it live before he died. The studio track is the only example we have and it's honestly really sad to think about.
The absolute GOAT instrumental, the harmonizing guitars makes my eyes water for some reason
Orion!!! RIP Cliff Burton!
Rob said he was terrified he was going to mess this song up for Cliff. He didn’t wanna get it wrong
The perfect song without words.
Robert Trujillo has an uncanny ability to make the bass sound just like there was no other guitarist there. He's amazing!
Best instrumental since ever, period.
Rob is no cliff burton but I can say as a fan of these guys he definitely did right by cliff here and did an incredible job!
One of the masterpieces written by Cliff Burton
I'm a guitarist, and I absolutely love to play this song on a regular basis. It is one of my favorites to play.
To live is to die and Orion will always be very special to me!🤘🤘
10:17 what a transition… shivers down my spine… amazing… thank you Cliff Burton for your contribution to this music genre!
From Beethoven Mozart to Metallica absolutely beautiful song 🎵 listening from Tongatapu I watch clear Orion at night from Tongatapu Island 🏝 👌 🙏
Metallica's Orion from 2006 from Berlin, Germany was a classic.
This guy gets it 👏
I saw them play this 3 days before Cliff was taken from us ,truly one of the greatest ...we remember you bro
This is why Orion is my favorite instrumental of all of the instrumentals they do.
Was so privileged and will never forget seeing Metallica perform this live when Cliff was still with us! Master of Puppets is and always will be my favorite Metallica album!
Really? This song was never even performed live until the year of this recording, 2006. 20 years after Cliff's death.
Them playing this live, after what they went through, was exorcising their trauma and hurt from Cliff's loss that still haunts them to this day.
You guys never stop smiling at all. That is how I know you love this.
First Metallica song I fell in love with back in the day! Never seen this version, thanks so much for reacting and to whomever requested it! Love you guys ❤️
Orion is always on my playlist for road trips. Good reaction guys, as always. \m/\m/
Cliff composed this.
Nope Orion was part of Welcome Home and Lars and James decided to be its own entity harmonies melodies definitely all Cliff.
You don't say...
@@gianwinters The middle part was only on demo. The rest of it BELONGS ACTUALLY to Cliff (including the harmonizing solo)
@@gianwinters not true....cliff showed kirk a demo version of orion he had been working on.
I'm not 100% sure but I think this was the first time Rob played this live and he was terrified of getting it wrong
They played it for the first time in 2005 so this isn’t the first he played it
The song it's not so difficult, the problem is mess something that cliff wrote
My absolute favourite Metallica song, so good!
They have that look on their faces because this song is more than a song this was Cliff Burton's Masterpiece and they have to play it like what Cliff imagined it.
Incredible live version and tribute to Cliff!

There was never a live version with Cliff. The only bassist of the three to play the song to completion live is Robert.
He actually throws out the most picks at the end of the show. Literally buckets of them.
I have 14 MetallicA picks.
My fingers are getting tired of leaving ya all comments you 2 are killing it love it keep it up you 2 rock make me happy

"God bless Cliff Burton." Yes! No stronger truth ever been said.
