'Orion' was (the late) bassist Cliff Burton's baby... u see Metallica's current bassist Robert Trujillo giving his all for this track... Burton was a schooled musician, and to think he came up w/ this piece w/ James & Lars at age 23 is astonishing. There is a quiet section of the song which sound like a cosmic space soundtrack, and a sad melody... it was almost as if Burton knew that he was not going to be around much longer and was saying 'goodbye' (this was on his last album w/ Metallica, 'Master of Puppets')... He was killed in 1986 in a tour bus accident at age 24.
Orion is epic beyond imagination R.I.P. Cliff Burton you live on as a legend through your music. The instrumental trilogy hit me with a bag full of emotions especially that i lost two best friends at a very early age one for a horrific car accident and another for a horrific pedestrian accident both were also very bright in what they did and how they influenced people around them, surely not on the scale of Cliff and Metallica. The emotional roller coaster Orion takes a listener on is just so affecting the music is on another level and it will definitely live on
In Honor of the Late Great Cliff Burton! I actually was leaning up against the stage directly in front of Cliff throughout the Concert during their 1st World Tour when they came to Kansas City! Cliff left me with my jaw dropped on the floor many, many times through the show!
it's cause you come from pop, hip-hop music, which without words is nothing (imagine Eminem without lyrics?), in real music world, music can create anything, any feelings without word (Bach, Beethoven, Dvorak) .. Metallica's Orion and The Call of Ktulu is great examples too !
Classical music is without lyrics!! I don’t care much about lyrics with few exceptions!! Most of lyrics are overrated and corny!! With few exceptions! But i care the most about the sound; the music and vocals
This is a masterpiece! RIP Cliff Burton! Robert did him justice on this live performance. Cliff was the "Major rager on the four string mother fucker!"
yeah me too was waiting for James to come in at one point; and when the I just put the music on the background, I like it just the way it is, it flows beautifully - thanks for this video, never heard this song of them before!
Great musical performance. Clif Burton's masterpiece but Robert did a great performance. Actually love this guy, he put so much emotion in his playing. ANd in my opinion, every band member are top musicians And inthis song the instruments singing, no voices needed.
I can't count how many times this band saved me from boredom in my little cabin. back when i was a young man, sailing in the Danish merchant fleet. Thanks for the reaction to this great band. I do agree this could use some of Hedfield's rusty voice.
I agree, this version has weird rhythm fuckups and out of tune guitars. Unfortunate because the album version is one of the best piece of music in history.
Hi Rebeka, when will you react to some Iron Maiden or do you know all the songs…since you react to only live stuff, Iron Maiden is known as one of the best live bands ever. First suggestion is “Hallowed be thy Name” live 1982.
I don’t know why she didn’t react to them yet!!!! Like wtf!! Iron Maiden are heavy and very melodic at the same time, and that’s the best way to describe them!! And they are g.o.a.t
You should really try the original studio version for yourself. It is nice because you can hear the instruments really well without the extraneous sound and Cliff Burton who originally wrote the song, is actually playing the base part.
You should really checkout Sanatorium by Metallica. The song has the same sort of build and feeling as Fade to black (that I know you really liked). Live from 89 is great: ua-cam.com/video/Lqee-u7Uq2I/v-deo.html
Hi Rebeka, I recommend the original version because it doesn't sound very good live, I'm sure you'll hear how the guitars and bass sing, greetings ua-cam.com/video/TydZ4NAXMic/v-deo.html
@@juanrezende4914 yeah, but really can’t appreciate Orion unless it’s the masterpiece of the studio version which captures all the subtleties the way Cliff intended.
My dear Rebeka, are you still in Latvia ?, I do hope that you do not support the war on ukraine, if you are still in latvia lets pray russia does not take ukraine, your country could be next, even if NATO helps.
@@swapticsounds That would mean them departing his band. It's just a little technicality of language I was pointing out, it's less that they "Kept him in the band" and more "They chose to stay in the band with him". \m/
One of the greatest songs of our time imo. RIP Cliff!
Respect to ROB!
No lyrics needed. The instruments do the talking. RIP CLIFF!!! I used to keep hitting re-wind on the walkman when I was a kid.

Metallica is the best 🏆
Orion is a great instrumental 👍
Correction Orion is THE instrumental

sometimes instruments talk better than words
Always

DEFINITELY THIS SONG DOESN'T NEED LYRICS BECAUSE THEY CREATE THIS INSTRUMENTAL ON PURPOSE. YOU DON'T NEED LYRICS TO CONNECT TO THE MUSIC 🤘🏼🎶
PLEASE SOME METALLICA LIVE REACTIONS FROM EARLY 80s
Gracias Rebeka 🌹🌹🌹

The lyrics are amazing !
Perfect
I know, I love the " " .
We miss you Cliff 🤘
That was really good! And I don’t listen to a lot of Metallica. Maybe 6 songs I like. I think more women like lyrics in songs then men.

Hi from Adelaide Australia, I was so lucky to see them play this song live. P.S your eyes are so sexy.
You sing this song in your head, the instrumental leads you and you can interpret it in anyway you choose....most get emotional....
Hi, There are no lyrics. This instrumental composition is perfect as is. I do love the video and everything you put out. Thanks 👍
I can't count how many times this band saved me from boredom in my little cabin. back when i was a young man, sailing in the Danish merchant fleet. Thanks for the reaction to this great band.

In England.

Cliff Burton was the Best . RIP Cliff !
While Metallica is decent in all of it's forms, may I suggest you listen to them when in their prime...the 90s
I agree, this version has weird rhythm fuckups and out of tune guitars. Unfortunate because the album version is one of the best piece of music in history.

Lars is pretty bad here
he is just kept in the band because they went through shit together. And maybe because he is still a descent arranger.
