The true "pikemen" of Age of Empires. 👌 I love how despite being mostly anti-cavalry, they still do pretty well against many other units. Spears and pikes are the unsung heroes of the medieval battlefield.
Pikemen IRL also performed well against a variety of opposing troops, not just cavalry. Not against archers, but no one would send pikemen alone against longbows or crossbows. Armies were always mixed.
If you get a certain critical mass of them they can beat most other melee units, at least the ones without area or bonus damage. And of course most melee units are better against ranged units in these simulations than they are in actual situations with micro/units to shield them.
These guys are great melee defensive troops since they have 1 range, the 2nd or 3rd line of a tight formation can usually attack at the same time. It's great for making those 300/battle of Thermopylae scenarios
@El Bottoo ,I agree but I said similar, not more, suppose ur comparing two units in head to head in like 1600 food and wood, its okay to make it like 1700-1750, obviously isn't enough to make any real change in the game but it can differ between 1-2 more units, u could assume players have roughly similar resources in games but it's not "exactly" the same, that's very rare,even among equal players, so I think equal resources should be done but a few extra resources for an extra unit is okay
Just a suggestion. It would be nice to have a summary in the description of their results against all other unique units. Who do they win against, and who they lose against.

Well it's curious that the "Kamayuk" title was an administrative one and not militar in the Tawantinsuyu Empire. It says a lot of its organization. You can't control the greatest Empire of America without an elite class of men like them.

Important to note the Archers probably do much better than practice since the AI is dumb and doesn't focus fire. The War Wagons for example lost, but would very likely slaughter if they had a player focus-firing down the units.....not to mention kiting of course, but I think that's a given. Point is archers aren't just missing their kiting but also the benefit of focus-firing down damage sources.

This is what the Pikeman(AoE3) needed to fight against both infantry and cavalry in long melee reach before an enemy melee unit reach his/her target. Because Spears to other forms of pole weapons are effective and versatile but underappreciated weapon. The pole weapon infantry in both AoE 2 & 3 from spearmen to pikemen should fight effectively against both infantry and cavalry than being an anti-cavalry role like the Kamayuk does.
@@bryangamarra3208 actually it is unaccurate, since conquistadors are ranged cavalry and just a little bit of micro is enough to beat pikes. The horse is meant to move fast, no to take damage from slow melee units.
Bryan Gamarra the inaccuracy is about history. Conquistadors conquered our lands and made slaves of the natives. Incas beating conquistadors is exactly the opposite of what really happened hence the irony here
@@vantungnguyen2694 Samurai and Jaguar Warriors get plus 10 attack vs unique units and infantry respectively though, so they were pretty much guaranteed to win that match.
That was a bad use of them because they're should be used like tanks. Use a Onager and protect it with Kamayuk and all the archers gonna cry like there's no tomorrow.

@@toastybatch565 sure on castle age. Mix in some eagles and they have something to chase, (micro intensive) Late game Kamayks get good value mixed in with other units. The 1 range in groups matter. I play on 1900 elo DE.
Not sure either I lost a battle against huskarls with them somehow and I even had numbers and tech advantage...unless they changed something it was super shady lol

They performed a lot better than I thought they would. Though realistically most of the archer types should win if they were properly managed.
