Daut is still using the same mouse and keyboard since 2005.
I legit still use a keyboard since 2011 lol
clearly it works.
I'm still using the same head since 1990.
That Viper run at the top is insane
also impressive is DauT with over TWO DECADES in the top 15, over 3 different versions of the game, and hes still here!
@@HappyDragneels_pagehe's the real og mvp
Insane how fast it went!
Here are answers to some questions and remarks I got:
- The data is from aoe-elo.com (as stated in the description of the video). Values use to rank players is Elo from there
- There is no decay implemented, so I just removed players when they get to 1 year of total 1v1 tournament inactivity. You get some weird things because of that such as Riut still being here after 2019 when he was barely playing tournaments anymore (just barely enough to makes him stay in there.)
- In the last 2 minutes of the video event dates in the annotations all say "24 January". Oops. Obviously events happen on other days throughout the year :) was plain and simple editing oversight, my bad.
- You might notice a slight discrepancy of a few days between total number of days at #1 in the animation and in the last still of the video. It's because the animation needed some adjustments to make it smoother, but sometimes it means the positions change a couple days before or after they do in the raw data.
- available 1v1 tournament data in the early days is scarced! You might find some of the placements curious or imprecise, it boils down to this lack of available tournament records.
- Sorry for the spelling/typing mistakes! I'm cringing at myself seeing them all now.
thanks for watching the video anyway :)
Good cooking!
Thanks mate, great watch and ty for all the details!
Daut is the goat, he never got out of the Top 15
I didn't realize he has been there from the beginning. He actually is the GOAT for sure
21 years :O
we have to give capoch credit too as he is generally top 20 still
And Jordan and F1Re.
im pretty new to this game and just watched a DauT game 3 days ago. i freaked out when i saw him climb up there in 2003. insane longevity.
I’m Dante, one of the top 10 guys from those earlier years. I remember being at the arablet cup 2 and the first two WCG for age2. Some really great memories. A lot of good players and nice guys on this list from the pre2003 days. This brings back memories. Proud I was up there for a few years :)
Didn’t realize Daut castles were over 20 years old
I think he started when he was 14
His castles never age.
Daut is the heart of the game.
What's amazing to me was how long Chris dominated the game.
He was basicly Viper before there was Viper, thats why Vipers and Jordans playstyle look so similar, they both looked at him and daut.
Competitions of all kinds go through phases of information available and player development. A new meta develops, there's a scramble at the top, then a champion or two settles out once the meta has been fully figured out and whoever is the best player wins. Then someone has a good idea or the game gets changed a bit and everything shakes up again. In games with small and/or inactive (as in, just playing how they know and not trying to figure out new things) playerbases the meta can stagnate where there isn't enough innovation happening quickly enough to knock down the champion. You see this in e-sports, auctions, speed running communities, etc. Chris dominated pretty much until all the Voobly players came over, and while Chris was familiar with more civs, the Voobly meta and mechanical skill were just that much more focused because Hun Wars.
Back in the day they weren't as many tournaments that is why you see little to no movement, in contrast to past years everyone is moving up and down
Dude wrote an actual book about the game
Chris was amazing. It would be a beast on new versions if he was 20 years younger 😅
Didn't realize Capoch has been on the scene for so long. Damn good player!
hes basically the argentinian DauT XD which is why i always root for him. he tends to choke a lot in tournaments so i think the pressure gets to him, his ladder games are way better
He also went to a WCG in SC2.
Check his history in other games, he was top player in many games, not just aoe2
Presenting DauT as number 1: *uses the sharpest mugshot in the world*
Presenting Viper as number 1: *uses random picture taken in a rush*
Should used Viper pic from 2013. He looked badazz
It's so nice to see how many shifts we had in the recent years - AoE2 is doing better than ever!
love how the competition for such an old game continues to be at its peak.
Around 2006 Grunt started playing AOE 3 among other pros, also dominated and then completly vanished when he had to go to the military
He might have passed away.
Mysterious Edie disappearance also.
Has anyone heard from him since 2009?
and AOM end 2002
Legends, I remember most of them. Zero Empires is the guy who started AOE2 streaming too, praise to him.
I used to play AoE2 in the early years and remember them well, all the names mentioned here 2000-2003. The GoaT then was Koven, no doubt. While others tended to stick to highly efficient strategies and build orders, Koven had a far more creative, yet highly effective approach. Replay data with Koven was rare and it always was worth to publish and discuss his play in the community, if one got hands on those.
IIts the same today, you see alot of bot play, around bild orders
Sweet to hear Creative play were rewarded back by Koven being #1
We need to give more respect to player like nicov that never dropped from the top 15 since he came back in 2017, even if he lacks a brillian tournament performance, he has always been there
the wwc2 defeat over Hera suddenly makes more sense
i feel like nicov has always been the best player to never win major s-tier tournaments (that I can remember seeing) - right up there at his best, but somehow never manages to bring his best when it's needed most
I would love to see the return of some old legends like Bact, RiuT, Edie, Ruso or even the oldest ones like Koven or Grunt. Excelent video!
Grunt was a long time Aoe3 player, practically dominating it till 2010. He then went on military service, never to be seen again.
Also missing was a certain Mastermind91... Flauta´s time!
Mueva la burra, comente el video. Ojo hijo, ojo.
Its trange what happened with BacT.
He went from quite active to a complete deadstop one day to the next.
Also rip Edie_cz, Clown King
No hijo, no
You can clearly see how DE revived the game. I would love to see this more often with old games. Instead of weird spin-offs just apply some state-of-the-art quality of life changes, some proper balancing patches, and an ingame ranked game system.
Ah memories... Who could forget the legendary L_Clan_Chris !!
and arch_koven ...korean heaven
The Age of Hera is starting
He’s an incredible talent.
Has been there for quite some time now.
@matthieumenard8149 based on the video, it's been Viper's playground until like last year lol.
Viper will always be > Hera
@Nublus if Hera stays on top for another 4 years, then your statement will be very debatable.
Aside from all the achievements, I'm grateful to The Viper for what they brought to the game. If game has undergone an evolution, The Viper is its chief revolutionary.
All the while he was always funny, entertaining and a helpful gentleman.
Hera always try hard, want to win and he is just succesful.
The top two best players will always be Koven and RD for me. Just a magical time to watch and see them play the game. True Viper and Hera, Lierry have surpassed them in skills. But talent wise I got to give it up to the oldies for leading the way and making the game what it is today.
Hera is amazing, and there is no doubt that he is the greatest player at the moment. But Daut and The Viper = The biggest goats in AoE2 history, and it's not even close. And now I understand why Tyrant/Secret/GL has been the OG team for as long as I have watched competative AoE2
Its just a matter of time, DauT and Viper dominated AOE for almost an entire decade respectively, Hera has been the best from approximately 3 years so if hera keeps the level he has right now (and surely will) he will gain the title of GOAT too and btw if the rank were made of ELO Hera would be a lot ahead right now.
Also it's unfair to Chris and Ryut not to mention them in the grand hall of fame.
Yea I used to play at the time of Chris and learnt tons from him. One of the best, if not the best. It's good to see the game having more numbers all round the world, still fun and competitive to this day.
Thank you for making this.
Great video. Cheers from Nilli's channel
The Lord is unsurpassed with almost 8000 days in top 15
I still remember playing on gameranger and voobly long live aoe2
It's incredible how the youth took the lead... let's maintain respect for the legends.
Viper the GOAT, and RiuT peak was insane, would be great to see him playing now!
Just like many others I got introduced to the active community of AOE2 by T90/Tristan and it's nice to see the history behind the rated ladder - right after the shock settled that 2017 is indeed 7 years ago and not 2-3. I remember him fanboying over Viper had me look at Viper and damn, what a god at the game. I never really cared for AOE2 itself that much, but it was really impressive how well he played but he is also a genuinely nice dude. Didn't follow tournaments usually, but watched all of the Hidden Cups - and I recall the 0:4 for Viper against Yo very well, that was quite a crushing experience I think no one expected. But yea, was great to see so many names I've never seen, names I'm very familiar with that had been around since the beginning, and then all the familiar names crawling in
Viper will always be the one that changed how we see the game. Watching 2015-18 gameplays from him never fail to blow my mind as we never saw that kind of play before. Right now, Hera mastered the game mecanics way better than Viper, but he will never have the same panache as there is less to invent. #clearly
agree with this observation!
I like how the transition of BGM, it is like go through from the dark age to the current age of competitive AOE2
I still remember watching the tyrant wars as a freshman in college. It's probably one of my fondest memories from that time. It was just so entertaining to watch the matches as well as the shenanigans over text chat.
Also makes me miss zeroempires and resonance22. And where did kkab ever go?
The game became a lot more competitive in the last 5 or 6 years. It is clear in the movement of the graph . Nice one !
Started watching around 2016 - it's been a fun few years!!
2016 was EIGHT years ago my guy (it scares the shit outta me)
The Viper was number 1 for 8 of the 24 years. GOAT
Lojza was very underrated. Long run in top10 in not too old history.
I remember downloading saved games of Koven and Grunt from forums and replaying their games over and over again.
This is based on major tournament performance, whereas back in Voobly days, there were events played with no prizes or with token ones. It's a nice effort, but there are question marks over how the website awarded elo points.
Great video, Daut Chris like Messi and Ronaldo 😂
watching Hera and Yo EXPLODE out of no where is wild.
Nice video. I wonder where will be now the old stars, kind of nostalgic feelings here
What a video ! Well done 👏👏👏👏👏
I remember playing on the Zone when "The Sherriff" was the man...
Yea mate! Was expecting to see his name on here
I remember him at some point. I was part of AoKB forum and clan then on the zone. My id was Pyrosin... any other aokb members out there?
@@rilewis3 I was in the IFL clan…I played as IFL_Warpig..
This helps to give some perspective to people who overestimate the last year(s). It happens in all sports and to all of us tho. I feel Hera is still not #1 in history but he's getting close!
Not even close, to even appear in the "days in the top 15" list, he needs at least another 5-6 years, according to the numbers of the video, to even appear in the bottom of that list. And that is on the assumption that that list doesn't change for anyone else, which obviously it is, for quite a few of the players in it still, so realistically it is probably gonna be closer to 8-9+ years before he even appears there, let alone getting up near the top, which would be one of the requirements for being "#1 in history" at least.
Daut is such a Legend
okay as someone who was not active in the community for the last 2~ years
its insane to see Tatoh, ACCM being that high - Hera was great back then, and I assumed with Viper getting older and his injuries that he might be a good rival - but he has completely taken over now... wow
Es respetable lo alto que se han mantenido Nicov y Capoch a pesar de los años. Y especial mención a Capoch y su gusto en destacar en varios juegos a la vez
Thanks for making this video.
crazy how the Definitive Edition revamped the game's competitive scene, closing the gap between top players
Oh bro... Arch_Koven was insane in his hay day. When we first seen the Drush people went mental.
Hera made history reaching 3000 elo for the first time in aoe2 history. What a beast
Wow. Excellent vid.
I remember watching Feages last tourney and his team almost beat Finland A and that was his last tourney and retired and ever since I've never seen him play again 🥲
you guys remember voobly
poor voobly, too focused on aoe2
Yeah that was the real competitive Aoe2 scene before Steam and before Microsoft joined the e-sports scene. A lot of pros, like DauT, were on there a long time developing their skills. People mock the Hun wars, but it was an extremely accessible and balanced way to play that made it pure skill.
@@misteral9045 It was all Huns war and Maya.
This game never dies
i played vs and with Jordan, Grunt, Elfanor. Mimmox, Ugnis, Bender, Crouvex, GeeK, Iron, Rip and Storm-Clan... long time ago😅
QUEN ERA BENDER?
@kevinsantiagotorresayala2750 PG_Lance, best DM Player and Legion Clan Bender!
@@christiangebhart6042 gracias bro un honor:)
@@kevinsantiagotorresayala2750 yeah, but that time I was a bad player and now even worse ;-)
Wow, it's way closer than I thought!
I didn’t know I needed this
Wow Unbelievable Daut #1 for 24 years straight
- Great video.
- I've always wondered where kkab would have been in the rankings if he had ever played singles tournaments.
- 6th and 24th January it's when important things happen.
Greetings.
Incredible work mate. Where did you pull this data from?
thanks! data is from aoe-elo.com
I randomly started following Viper in 2020 and always thought he was good, but damn! GL in AOE seems like Dignitas in RTCW back then
Having played since 1999 this was amazing to watch, and brought back a lot of memories. I thought Zeal_Love would be around in the beginning, but perhaps he stuck to AoK? I don't remember. Anyway, thanks for the video!
ACCM is also goat he is really good at 2022 and won 6000$
I'm amazed by whoever put this live chart together. That's some super nerd stat energy!!
Wasn't there a sheriff number one in aoe2
Chris! Wow! I always heard about Grunt and Daut and Koven (?).
Not sure how the ELO is estimated for those early days
Just wild that daut won a huge tournament 11 years later
Incredible video 🙌❤ My respect to CHRIS
que grande el nicky, leyenda total
El nicky guy, el nicky
I hope you get a lot of subs!
4:00 look at this 😮 and this 7:31
Daut… Legend ❤
mad respect to daut and chris for being in top 15 for over 10 years, same with viper now i guess
damn this is so weird I recognize almost all names but I swear I never heard of "High" till now
most people wouldn't have considering it was the super early days of aoe2, "pros" back then would get destroyed by even 1500 players today "if they played the same way that is" it was a totally different game back then
Pretty sure he was from DevilZ clan
@@blazenightash5781I was 1800 then, over 20 years ago. Got destroyed by the top guys like FletcheR, 13lur, DevilZ clan, Chris etc. Calibrated at 1300 in DE without knowing a build. Just one data point and I did play SC2 in between but people generally underestimate how good the guys back then were. Look at Capoch. He took a 15 year break or something and was a top 20 player within like a month.
@@blazenightash5781 Well of course. If a new strategy game dropped tomorrow first best players wouldn't stand a chance against some that come few years after them. But who is really better gamer: one that excels first in total unknown land or one that copies and learns from their predecessor. It's a philosophical question.
Respect to Daut man
Didn't know Capoch been there that long
I dont know why i was thinking that players from North American continent dont play too much RTS games ,but i was wrong because Canadians are always top tier players...
I'm the 100th subscriber! 🥳
And now hera hit the 3000 Elo !! insane !
Where is Fatslob?
Impresionante el despegue del bueno del Sebas en este año, esperemos que siga cosechando triunfos como hasta ahora
Todo un grande ese muchacho
Can you make this for sc2 through aligulac? That'd be so cool tons of people would wanna see it!
Can you make the same video about Supreme Commander: FAF league?
Hmmm. I wonder where I ranked in the early 2000's. I used to beat pretty much everyone consistently on GameSpy back then. Usually I'd play 2vs1 against my own clan which had a lot of strong players as a warm up. I don't remember any of these names though, did they play somewhere else?
Chris, the legend
ACCM world number one most forgotten recent AOE2 history 😂
How many memories and names!
incredible how Arch Koven was the best one for such a short period of time and in my mind he is still the best one!
I was rank 1 teamgame Empire wars for over 1 year and I am not on the list??
This list is absurd. You should be between top 5 to 10 according to my calculations. Also I putting the danish player "High" as top in the early years is nonsense.
I feel like Empire wars is not yet accepted within the community. Even though we are clearly better skilled than for example Hera or Viper
Agreed. Hera even called you out lately as the best pocket player he has ever played with.
Sebastián representando 🇺🇾
Didn't know Capoch is such an old player.
3:54 LONG LIVE THE KING!
Capoch was pro player at high level in AOE2, AOM, STARCRAFT, CS in that period. now in AOE2DE and a little bit AOE4 .. DauT, Chris, Capoch the sacred trinity
amazing, amigos!!!
Hera just came in out of nowhere !
I ve watched the entire video but could not see Fatslob!! he is the n1 at all times
Es impresionante lo q juega y ha jugado Daut!
Es una verdadera leyenda del AOE2, SORPRENDENTE QUE SIGA SIENDO DE LOS MEJORES EN EL MUNDO DESDE HACE 24 AÑOS! 🎉
