Despite its flaws, I honestly think that Deadly Alliance had an amazing lore and atmosphere. The idea of two of the series' antagonists teaming up and killing both the main antagonist and protagonist was so bold but also so epic, I am glad NRS has been doing something different with the new timeline but I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't love to see this story redone with the new technology and experience, there really were a lot of interesting concepts in the 3D era.
It was a change in the story and i can respect that

These 3D MKs got a lot of hate, but I actually liked all of them. Sidestepping added a cool way to play defense imo. It's pretty satisfying when you time them perfectly on these games. They also had parrying and a pretty cool combo system. Being able to combo seamless through them was a nice touch imo.
I like Deadly Alliance, but tbh grinding in this game is AWFUL. I must play harder difficulty to earn more koins and prices of these bloody koffins on Krypt are ridikulous

All sidestepping did was make projectiles worthless. I don't know why Midway kept projectiles behave like they are in a 2D plane bu then added a 3D sidestepping that makes them pointless.
I had so much fun back then with Deadly Alliance, loved it's sound and music design. the whole game's feel of "scary death tournament" and weird goofy shit made it super charming to me
I bought this game day one, I was beyond hyped, spent all my 13 year old money...I was SO very very disappointed, the gameplay was stiff, new characters were uninspired and just one fatality per character?? And most of them were trash with no stage fatalities? Felt like a huge step backward from previous games. This is the first game I ever traded in, this was my first true huge disappointment in gaming. I still haven't recovered
The chemistry between these 3 guys is great. Always fun time watching them

I really liked the stabbing mechanic. It was pretty great. Sucked it limited combos but the bleeding effect was hilarious and the health drain was great
@@FluXuaL88 Yeah, the stabbing mechanic was actually kinda sweet. Take away your ability to not take chip to make your opponent's health drain.
the reason why you don't hear any character from Tutorial Realm is because they can't survive outside their realm without having a tutorial to do anything. They can't drink water or take a piss without a tutorial so they end up dying if they leave.

Man,deadly alliance sure deserve some recognition for it's roster, It was so "weird",kharacters like Nitara and Drahmin are among the most unique in mortal kombat,and at the same time it had kharacters like Frost and Hsu Hao, who were not that unique in moveset or visuals.
I never played this one but I apreciate how they tried new things.

Among newcomers I really like Nitara, Kenshi, Mavado, partially Frost and Moloch. Mavado's moves could have been better though. This game saved MK from complete failure but I still prefer Deception, Shaolin Monks and Armageddon by a long shot. I know, I'm in minority with this
irina1296- I agree. I liked Armageddon a lot and I played the heck out of Shaolin Monks. Deception was really fun too. And we can’t forget how amazing Armageddon’s intro was. Seeing every character fight each other in that opening was the coolest thing ever!
Same games i love from the MK franchise. Shaolin monks being the best for me because of how awesome the game was. Armageddon because i enjoyed the konquest, seeing the two forces collide and what not ( i was still young then) then years later see mk 9 pick up from armagedon was mind blowing lol

Mavado and Nitara suffer a lot in this game move set wise,it's like they stopped working on then halfway trough, the all only have 2 special moves. Maybe if they had more they would have been received better. At least Armageddon gave them all new special moves.
Deadly Alliance led to Deception, and Armageddon, it was a good foundation.
Armegeddon had Meat so it is the superior game

IIRC, the deal with Shao Khan then was that he was really wounded from a war with Edenia. Meaning that when they chose to act want the prime opportunity to do so. And then it was revealed to be a clone

I liked his hookswords way more than the way Kabal use them in deception and Armageddon
@@damiangallo4185 wait a minute. Didn't they used them in the exact same way? I pretty sure they re-used the hooksword style from mavado in Kabal on Mk Deception,so much so they both have the same weapon in armageddon.
Every moveset in the 3d MK games sucks, though.
@@viniciusraraujo in MK DA, it was the first game in which those Blades Made an appearance in a 3 D game, and it had different combos and animations, when deception came out, kabal regained his swords, they gave him different combos using different animations(actually, were the same, but animated in a different order), AND when mk Armageddon came out, instead of giving mavado the combos he had in MK DA, they gave him all the combos kabal had in MKD, the only difference between the two is the combo 1, 1, 4, in which kabal has a knockdown at the end while mavado does not, allowing him to perform a throw inmediatelly after it
I enjoyed this 3d Mortal Kombat. And frost is just as crazy then and now.

They put a surprising amount of effort into representing fighting styles in the Deadly Alliance Trilogy.
It was MaleVolence because it was MK V (5). Kinda clever, but thank the elder gods they went with Deadly Alliance.
I miss when they put all sorts of fun extras and behind the scenes things as unlockables in these MK games. That was one of the best parts of Deadly Alliance, going into the krypt and getting all those crazy unlockables.

I think they capitalized the "V"s because V=5 and this was the fifth game in the series. You can actually see in the MK:DA logo it is a big metal and bloody "V" in the background.

Lore wise Frost has ice daggers because she doesn’t have enough control over her ice-powers to make a full sword like Sub-Zero can.

Frost looks sick, the heavy feeling of martial arts, the different powers, the narrative, into the fatalities is what makes this game for me.
Max always advocates for training modes in fighting games like Konquest. He was all over it when Guilty Gear Xrd came out. I don't get why he shits on it when the 3D MK games do it (and do it well, for that matter, with lore in between each training stage).
I just found this game at my good will so I am excited to get a ps2 now :D

Deadly Alliance was the first MK game I owned, and I remember watching the intro with my older cousin and us both freaking out when Liu Kang's neck got snapped *in the intro*!

To me, there was never a dark age. I love the 3D games the same if not more than the original trilogy or the newer games. The Krypts and all this secrets, Deceptions and to a lesser extent Armeggedons konquest modes. The extra modes like, chess, puzzle and motor Kombat. These games are from a time when Mortal Kombat didn't take itself so seriously and I love them for that.

I think they are bad because they had terrible awkward animation, slow, clunky, and stiff gameplay, and the new characters were 90% trash in my opinion. Yea extras are cool and all, i loved that about those games, but i play games for their gameplay and the 3-D PS2 games just didn't deliver on that front (to me). They weren't fun or enjoyable for me. The original games up through Trilogy (and even MK4) were much better in my opinion.

For everyone who's bummed about Mileena not being in MK11 I felt your pain when this game came out. Seeing my main indirectly getting deconfirmed with the intro sucked. I got Kenshi but man that took a while to adjust.
I really hope Frost’s playstyle in MK11 is fun. I think her design is rad, and her fatality that got leaked is awesome. Might be one of my mains depending on how she plays

Ahh Deadly Alliance, my first MK game all the way back in Kindergarten, drew the characters and got some weird faces from my teachers.
While I haven't played this game since my middle school years, I still have fond memories with this one.
Me and my cousins played countless hours beating the tar out of each other, trying to unlock all the characters (we could never find Frost despite clearing out 94% of the Krypt), looking at the behind the scenes and concept art, watching the MK history video and Adema music video that alot of people would probably cringe at nowadays, but not me. I still remember my first fatality I've ever seen, my cousin went upstairs to use the washroom, I was Reptile on arcade lost to Raiden, expecting to get punched, only to be greeted by the screen going black followed by him electrocuting and exploding me, jaw dropped to the floor and started to call my cousin on what just happened to me.
