@Francisco Delgado They are connected in various small ways but that doesnt make things in the old timeline fully canon to the new one.
@Francisco Delgado I think we're using different versions of what canon refers to. Youre right in that it all officially happened in their own universes of the general overall canon. But I meant in the official canon of the new timeline that they're focusing on/using. The dragon medallion for example might have different properties and might not age sub zero like in the previous timeline. Just because one thing functioned like it did in the old universe doesnt mean it would automatically work like that in the new universe.

MK Deadly Alliance just screams "2002 edge-lord", especially because of the Adema video (with spiky hair and everything). I think this is the Mortal Kombat that I've sunk the most hours playing, I had the PS2 and GameCube versions. Also the collectibles were amazing ("Cooking with Scorpion" anyone?) and I just felt like finishing the game with every character, even if the game in the end is just average.
I loved the hell out of DA for no reason at all lol
Definitely above average for me, so many childhood memories with it. Also, I loved that Adema music video. Much better than trash Savage 21 they used for MK11.

Deadly alliance and deception are actually pretty decent to me. The gameplay is a bit slow yes, but the collectibles were great

The CG in this game looked so bizarre, even for 2002. They improved the designs a lot in Deception.

That first Kung Lao costume is the best he ever had in my opinion. The fact that the hat is on his back and the animations for when he has to use it are tweaked so he actually has to reach for his back instead of his head is a neat detail considering the game it came from. Would love to see a similar costume in a modern MK game.

It's crazy that Li Mei's default v-neck kimono is so much sexier than her "sexy" costume which is just a plain bikini.
Interestingly her concept outfits had assloads more character and personality, loads of sigils and flared flame covered pants.
While doing they rounds all they received was positive praise and women who saw them admitted they’d love to have an outfit like that IRL.

I think that was the whole premise for MK11. Fans ( including myself ) love the kostume so much that it was a surprise to see the homage.

Deception is the BEST! I love the 3D era. It was cheesy in a good way. The current MK games take themselves way to seriously.

@@TyranusRex721 Oh, you are not gonna like Max's opinion on the 3D era. And i agree with him, this whole era was very rough. Gameplay was actually pretty weak with how it felt you were fighting underwater. The stance mechanic, while cool on paper, was honestly poorly implemented. Most of the new characters are uninspired garbage like Kobra, Kira, Darrius and Hsu Hao.
It felt like Ed Boon and company didn't knew how to make actual good 3D fighting mechanics, so instead they resorted to this slow, side stepping nonsense for some reason. Seriously, go back to any other 3D game around the same time and they have better 3D fighting mechanics by a mile. Going back to 2D in Mortal Kombat 9 was the best decision they made because they are at their best in 2D and not 3D.

Sonya looked fantastic in Deadly Alliance and Armageddon. I love ther both costumes. Kenshi, Mavado and Nitara looked great as well. Kitana's blue costume is awesome but the purple one is just NOOOOOO

I actually like Nitara's alt. Maybe I'm just a thirsty vamp lover, I dunno. I actually liked her as a character as well, even though most people find her forgettable.
Even though Nitara only appeared 2 times in the series,she is still easily one the most unique kharacters in Mortal Kombat,on my opinion at least.

3d era reptile turned into a simple jobber and lost all capability of thinkin plus it just took away his good looks i dont mind reptile lookin lizard-ish as long as its done like in shaolin monks or mk9 and X
They're just blinded by nostalgia. I feel like it was better to make the ninjas more unique, instead of, this one is yellow, this one is blue, this one is green, this one is red ect.

I loved reptiles design in this game and the fact they actually made him reptilian to the max lol. It ties in with his fighting style in the game so well.
To me it’s pretty decent. It is a bit ugly but it fits him.

I like how Raiden's alt costume makes him look like Zeus from God of War, which came out 3 years after this game was released.
That Sonya alternate costume is the best Sonya costume ever. I can see people liking the MK3 version more but since this game was released, nothing has even come CLOSE to this version of Sonya.
Also, I'd still take this version of Reptile over MK4 or MK9 Reptile.

They already did, and sure enough gave that a 10 (MK4 though, Quan-Chi's fatality in DA is the worst thing ever)

Man a kenshi stand alone game would be so damn cool. Imagine, being able to beat up some dude while your sword is on the other side cutting up some other dude. Not to mention that stand like ability.

Unpopular opinion: I actually liked Reptile’s design in deadly alliance. Liked the whole lizard concept but his head looked stupid, they just needed to clean it up

Favorite Reptile in the series is the DA reptile. Could have played better IMO but I'm in the boat of him being an anthro lizard cause why not?
I think Armageddon 9 x and x classic costume(my favorite) reptile are his best looks because he is a lizard who is a ninja and just lizard or just a ninja

I dislike the fact that Max hates any Reptile design that’s not the human color palette one. I know many OG fans grew up with that form, but nostalgia is one hell of a drug I guess.
I've always liked the more animalistic reptiles compared to just "green ninja" reptile. Gives him more of his own look.
DA Reptile is best Reptile i will fight everyone to the death to protect that idea.

i like the reptile design in this one, i wouldn't want him to look that way in every game but it worked well in deadly alliance, and that sub zero costume is really top tier especially for an early ps2 era title
Same about Reptile. For me, the problem wasn't about making him a full on lizard (I love reptilian/dinosaur fighters like Riptor from KI and Primal Rage), the problem was the design was just so hideous and unpleasant to look at. I'd love it if they made him look more like a raptor fighter like Riptor and less alligator like.
The reason why kenshi alt costume looks like that is because that's the outfit he had on when shang tsung betrayed him and left him in the tomb to die hence the tattered clothes

He’s not still being controlled by Quan Chi.
After Scorpion/Sub-Zero’s MK4 ending, Quan Chi attempted to seal Scorpion back to the Netherealm, and Scorpion manages to bring the sorcerer with him.
Stranded in the Netherealm, Quan Chi is relentlessly tortured by Scorpion, until he enlists the help of Moloch and Drahmin to fight him off.
This is because Scorpion grows stronger the longer he stays in the Netherealm, and Quan Chi’s powers were useless against him.
Once Quan Chi learns he can use Shinnok’s amulet to escape the Netherealm, he ditches the two oni while fleeing from Scorpion.
Eventually, Scorpion escapes as well, and can now sense Quan Chi’s presence.
He traverses the realms to hunt the sorcerer down during this game’s events.
HSU HAO is the worst Mk charecter ever. Don't @ me.

I love these "Rate the" series
I appreciate that they updated look of many characters and that they made some radically different costumes for various characters. However, they should make more different costumes for some chars, like Hsu Hao or Reptle, who look barely different in they different costumes.

Kenshi just looks really cool, plain and simple.
I think this, and classic Cyrax are my favorite looks for him, everything from MK9 to now looks like a yellow Iron Man suit from the movies, witch I understand why they took inspiration.
@@eliasnicolasmiranda4940 The Cyber Ninjas original design was based off things like Predator, Power Rangers, and Boba Fett. I thought it was a good evolution. But then again, I have a lot of bad opinions, maybe the Iron Man direction is the best one they could have taken.

Honestly, I unironically like the design choices and characters from the DADA period and wish they'd make a comeback for the new games.
I'm not even sure it's supposed to be a pirate. It just looks like a somehow less dignified version of the slave Leia outfit from Episode 6. And it doesn't even make sense in the story. Li Mei only becomes a concubine after the events of this game.

Kenshi second outfit is the outfit he wore when he was blinded by the spritis.
I liked it better than the other alternate costume where he gets a sleeveless vest. If the sleeveless vest had a design on the back like the Dragon on his sash then it be much better.
Mavado was always one of my least favorite characters from this era. He looks like a Tekken character to me. I could see him hanging out with Bryan Fury. I wasn't crazy about his moveset or reusing Kabal's weapon. I think Hsu Hao was slightly above him since the heart cannon is admittedly cool.
Nitara was like a sexy vampirate.
I’m here for the feelings of nostalgia at 4 a.m remember owning the majority of mk games when I was young, mk4 was my first game, I sucked so hard at it thinking back but I found my love for fighting games through it aswell as Tekken 3😁

You know, Scorpion is not, in fact, a scorpion, and Smoke was not (when alive) made out of Smoke, and Sub-Zero was not made out of ice, Rain was not made out of Rain, and Noob wasn't made out of noobs.
MKX version of Reptile was pretty good. He had both Reptile and humanoid features while not going overboard.

The word "solid" was abused here, more than the hadouken when i first learned it as a kid in SF.
I like this raiden as well as both mavado characters great new designs the original characters were great but those were the 10's for me. Blaze is awesome I really was caught up with the mystery of the him in the background of the pit map in mk 2 then in Armageddon he looked like a great final big bad.

As a kid, I had the biggest crush on this game's version of Kitana. XD Spent so much time grinding to unlock her from the Krypt!
I definitely prefer her base costume over the purple one, though.
