Haha about toxic players on mics.. I ran into a dude that was bodying me, after winning he says "Dang dude, you're trash", and I responded just like "Haha, yeah, I'm still learning. Good game." and he sounds surprised when he says "Oh, uh, yeah I was like that at first too, wanna play again?" It was just so interesting to me that one positive remark completely changed his attitude.
Honestly it’s amazing how a little positivity can go a long way, I’ve made tons of friends by just being positive on the mic and always willing to learn by losing. Keep the community positive dood!
@@shinobi_magi Well, I only have about 20% usage of my left arm, so it takes me quite a bit longer to get good at fighting games, I've become pretty accustomed to negative reactions, I try not to hold it against anyone.
This. Extremely interesting, interested, and chock full of knowledge/expertise. Plus hes very articulate and enthusiastic. A+ Guest! The way he describes arcade days is exactly how i reminisce it. Fighting games were just better for me there. Loved the sticks, and no load times, and just physically be there with my mates and new freinds :)
I've never seen an episode of Frame Trap, even though I've been watching you guys since the GT days. Ben I'm sorry I didn't appreciate the hard work you put into this show. I'll be going back to watch them all. Great show! Love & Respect
As much as I loved Max going off on fighting games, I actually really appreciated his thoughts and additions to games I don’t normally hear him talk about like Dreams. It was a new perspective to see of him. Thanks!
It's weird, I knew Maximillian from elsewhere but had no idea he had something to do with GT. This isn't the first time either. Funny how likeminded people seem to come together,.
I only had this experience in cities, when I get lost, wander around, but end up somewhere random. The light bulbs go off "Ooooh, this place takes me THERE!" Its strange to see it happen with people. "You know that guy, and he knows those guys, and everyone knows everyone else"
As a Max sub since way back, maybe as early as 2011-12, the reason I've stuck with his content is done to one thing: positivity. So many channels devolve into some form of elitism or revel in putting down anyone that isn't good at the fighting games played. Max finds a way to translate his genuine hype through the screen and that's super special and his community, while much bigger than it used to be, still keeps it fun and inviting and I'm thankful for that. If he doesn't like something he'll say why and without dancing around any issues he doesn't just sit there and tear things apart for a reaction or any type of validation. Shine on Doods!
What I really liked about Kronika is that she is the perfect element to finally make sense of all the mess that the former MK story archs were. As a MK fan you often wandered what is cannon and what is not. Why a character dies and comes back. But now all of that makes perfect sense because a character like Kronika and her machinations ARE the reason why everything happend like it happend. This character truly added a binding element to the whole series. I really enjoyed that.
Peter Fox I wasn’t a big fan of Kronika but that’s actually a really good point man. And not only did her inclusion in the game dude make everything make sense but it also basically soft rebooted the entire universe so they can literally go in any direction they want to with the story moving forward
Really dig Max. He’s one of those guys who proves that there really is a huge gap between the people who actually have a TALENT for youtube and then the wannabes.
Everything about this Frame Trap was perfection. Informative and hilarious, insightful and filled with intermittent lighting issues. I’ve never heard of your guest, but Max was a wonderful person to listen to. Will definitely be checking out his channel. I felt bad, I feel Kyle didn’t talk as much as I’d like, but I understand the need to have the guest have the spotlight. Keep up the great work, EZA, you bring so much joy to this world. L&R
2 of my favorite creators doing a podcast together was super hype! As a casual fighting game fan, loved Max's insight and expanded breakdown into core fighting game mechanics here. It was extremely interesting 👍👍
Probably the best frametrap episode. Kyle didn't talk much in the first half but when he started talking the podcast got even better. Ben was a great host as usual and you can't say anything about Max, the guy is overall great dude.
I have been following the FGC for around 11 years and in the beginning the streams were VERY ghetto and the scene did not have the best people in it at all. Even for streams for SF3: Third Strike there were lots of crazy popoffs to the point where it almost came to blows. That is the root of the FGC, thats why he said stabbings were not very surprising. Lots of the people that frequented arcades to get better at fighting games were from poverty stricken areas.
Haven't been following Max since his bare-ass back room days, I'll just say this: You will never find a more genuine, kind-hearted, well-meaning, fun-loving dood. Sure there are the Markipliers, the PewDiePies, the etcs, but none of them are as amazing as Max. When you see a grown-ass man literally break down and cry because of his fear for letting down us--random ass people who just happen to like watching him yell at fighting games, you see something special and one of a kind. I've never met this man and we've only shared words through stream maybe once or twice, but I'll lay down my life for him without hesitation. I hope for as long as I live, I'm able to support him just as whole-heartedly as he's been entertaining us.
Ben, THANK YOU for bleeping out Kyle's Sekiro spoiler. I had approached the Guardian ape boss but had yet to engage with it prior to listening. I know it's a small thing but you did me a solid by bleeping this one out.
the longer Frame Trap is the better, I really Enjoy deep intricate slow burn episodes the best. Thanks for such great content, the time you put into this is very much appreciated.
Thank you for picking my question, Ben! And yes I did play every Smash Ultimate classic mode. I didn't own a Wii U so it helped me learn a bunch of the characters. Plus I had fun doing it, so it is all good.
Max might legit be my favourite gaming "personality/youtuber/ whatever you want to call it. Very well informed, articulate, has respect for and appreciates other people's opinion. Something you can't say about so many other gaming channels/personalities. Deserves all the succes he has and way more. Great show guys!
I hope Allies keep having guests throughout 2019. Something cool would be Bloodworth and SuperGT but I don’t think anybody has a report with the racing game community.
I felt Kyle's criticism was a bit unfair at some points. While I agree that Dreams does have some frustrating aspects, most of Kyle's rant was focused on how he didn't want to spend his time to learn more beyond the basics. Thankfully Max and Ben counterbalanced those arguments, and Kyle himself admitted his problem was not being ready to learn and invest the time. As Ben said, you either have a simple tool that makes one thing or a very complex tool that makes all sorts of things.
Followed EZA from the days of GT - now still here supporting but I remember following max many years ago and the fact that these two groups know each other is great!
The Things people are making already in Dreams is nuts. I see so much crazy creative stuff by the minute on twitter, reddit etc. and so many of the creators are just getting comfortable with the mechanics. I'm not much of a creator, but the community is giving me a lot of hope for the future of Dreams
Been waiting for this since you announced it, Ben. There's only two video game related channels I follow and seeing a collaboration between the two of them makes me so happy.
This is now my favorite episode of Frame Trap. It was so focused.... I love the passion In Frame Trap. Ben is one of the most passionate members of EZA. He clearly loves video games. However, he loves ALL video games. For the first time, there was both passion *and* focus in this show. That focus was largely on a singular genre--and I think the show was better for it.
Good to see Max here, I'm not even that into fighting games but I watch most of his videos. I'd like to be good at fighting games but I don't have the patience to play for hours, I buy them all but never play for long.
That story of Ben and the guy on the mic made me remember two stories of past fighting games and what happened to me. First was MKX I was going for the dropping fools trophy(10 ranked wins in a row) and I had already failed my first attempt at 7 wins. This was a stand out Frame Trap. Ben, I don't blame you for making sure everything was recording correctly hahaha! Seriously, thank you all for this awesome discussion. It went to all the right places.

But it's really great to have him on to have the only 2 allies that really play fighting games be on to talk about their varied histories. Also super interesting to learn that Max technically worked for GameTrailers for a bit because I never knew that.
The things Max said about Sekiro is actually what I really enjoy about the game. The fact that the combat is designed for you to get up in the enemys face and practise parrying until you get it right feels satisfying and didn't break the mechanic for me.
