I've been telling people the same thing. The Hex Screw on the front of the Mag is not going into the Hole in the Front of the Mag Well, but for some reason it seems to fall on Deaf Ears. It is frustrating. Most people insist on building up the back of their mags with Tape or Clue. I have the same Rifle with the same problem, and a New Stock fixed it.
Had a similar issue but mine was more a left/right location of the forward bedding block. Called Ruger and was told they would send me new stock. After several weeks of waiting and numerous phone calls I gave up and sold the gun. Really poor design here which makes a potentially good gun a total piece of garbage. I would never buy another one. If you are wondering why all the stocks are tight up against the barrel only on one side this is the reason. Ruger really let me down and I think they know they have a major design flaw or manufacturing error to cause a bolt gun not to feed, ridiculous.
My stock was replaced under warranty and the rifle has not had a feeding problem since. My mags are still loose but they feed just fine. The problem was with the stock.
I just bought a new american ruger. 22 bolt and had this issue too, was particularly bad, i used a little chainsaw file gently on parts of the top of the mag, cos i thought it was a mag problem. I didnt destroy the mag. Then realized mag was dropping down and tip of bullets were banging into bottom of chamber entry. Took it back, they said nothing was wrong with it, but replaced stock anyway. Its slightly better but mag still jiggles and can drop down and make it jam. Gonna take it back again. I thought it could need a new action.
The one i just bought is a 18 inch barrel bolt action, i also have a long barrel version that is about 3 years old and it feeds perfectly, never had a problem at all, maybe theres a bad batch that has come out of the factory that is rubbish and need to go in the bin.
Thank you for the video. I just came back from the first day at the range with this rifle and I've got this exact problem. I'm in Australia so dealing with warranty is going to be a pain in the arse. I reckon I can build up the missing area with resin tape and then sand it back to Size. Pretty frustrating having to push the magazine up into the receiver every time cycling the bolt.
I'm also in Australia, also bought a brand new American rimfire in 22LR, also have this exact magazine seating issue. (Shipped in 2018 according to serial number lookup). Tried calling but didn't want to leave a voicemail. I will try when it's daytime in USA. Super disappointed
Same problem here. Sent it back to Ruger. Got it back 3 weeks later and same issue. Sent the pos back to Ruger for a refund. Got fucked out of 100 buck transfer fees nics etc.
Exact same issue, in Aus too. Personally i just use my left pinkie to push the mag up a little and feeds nicely, 2nd hand rifle so no point talking to Ruger, I suppose I could buy a new stock, but i tend to use this one for bench rest single shot stuff now anyway.
@@ianjones5599 There is several work arounds but in the end it is the stock that's the problem. I found that out by trying to fix the magazine issue again. I was wrong about the bedding block hole not being deep enough. The block is fine but it sits misaligned because the slot that it sits in, in the stock is misaligned to the receiver. In my one the block is canted to right and so the magazine hex bolt ends up pushing up against the left side of the block. In the end I ground the hole out bigger on the left side of the block and the magazine now finally slots in to the hole. I can with confidence say that I'll never buy a Ruger again. What a lemon. It's meant to be working straight out of the Box. This isn't just a failure in manufacturing its primarily a failure in inspection. How does crap like this make it of the factory floor? Because inspection staff aren't doing their job or even worse because idiots in management has decided to do away with inspection all together in certain critical parts of the process.
I have an easier fix for this. Mine wouldn't feed even from the 10s. I took half the tension out of the mag spring and haven't had an issue since. And I still have the mag play.
So had this problem with my girlfriends found the Front part if the magazine was not locating in the aluminium part as was shown in the movie I used a strong blade sharp knife and shaved the hole in the detection it needed to located the magazine works 100% now
Bought a Ruger American Rimfire yesterday and had the EXACT SAME problem. thanks for the tip!

Thanks for video. Mine had magazine loose/feed problems. I fixed all problems with Kidd plunger and higher tension spring. Simple and cheap.
Thanks for wasting our time. You could have just said Call Ruger and they will fix it
Without all that.

Will Ruger send a replacement rifle? You said to call and let them know?
