Buying a Magnum 4000 series gold hot water pressure washer. Fixing a few initial problems with it. Than trying it for the first time. T shirts: ebay.to/2vd5Kzs
I own a pressure washing company here in illinois. Couple tips on your new hot water washer. Keep a good battery on it, the transformer that ignites the diesel fuel needs to have constant 12.5-14vdc. Put a high pressure swivel between your hose and wand it will save on the hose, fighting it to get loops out when washing. And when your done be sure to shut the burner off 1st and run it till cold water comes out. And finally when you start and shut the motor on and off hold the handle down on the wand to release pressure. Nice machine tho if you ever have any questions feel free to reach out to me, I'd gladly help. Great videos also keep them coming!

They're responsible for taxing your stuff (land, buildings, materials and equipment) and can be brutal, especially on new equipment. New equipment has a depreciating value schedule of 7-15 years and the tax rate changes depending on the market value of the item. if it's over a certain amount, you get one rate and if its under a certain amount, it's another rate. If the equipment is older than the depreciation schedule, the rate falls pretty significantly. I run a services business and purposely don't keep inventory because it's a nightmare. Hot water pressure washers make a huge difference (especially on cold-wet days when you tend to do most maintenance)). Add some biodegradable detergent and it gets equipment really clean...
As usual, thanks again! You are taking me to school! So let me share something with you. I am a nut for cleanliness so I got my son to wash his truck (a 2003 Kenworth with a 15L CAT engine and four axles and a Fontaine 55 ton RGN trailer) and have the truck detailed twice a year, washed when needed. Believe it or not, that clean truck and trailer with spit shined Alcoa wheels has gotten him business. People figure if he takes such good care of his own equipment, they have little to worry about their cargo.

You are correct about it being a CARB Compliant engine because of that tube going from the tank to the intake for the gas fumes. What happened was you overfilled the tank and the excess poured through the tube into the intake and then filled the cylinder and crankcase. You should be able to plug off the line or just not overfill the fuel tank. Edit: I guess it is a clone since it doesn’t have any Honda labelling on it anywhere. They will counterfeit anything in China if the market is there for it. Supposedly at one time a factory was making complete knockoff Honda CRV’s that looked exactly like an actual Honda CRV but the engine was no where near a Honda in quality. Since they weren’t exported, Honda couldn’t stop them so instead Honda built factories there in a deal to stop the counterfeit production.
Thats all a rich story to excuse Honda moving from Japan to china, thailand, brazil and every other 3rd world shit hole to cut manufacturing costs. even Honda sells honda clones these days. Ever seen a Grom?
There is clearly a design fault if you can overfill the gas tank if its only half way full. Lucky the diluted oil was spotted straight away or the engine would be gone. I expect these were at auction due to all the sized returns ect.
no design fault, the recirc is in the filler neck not halfway up the tank. if you fill it over full, and keep filling, it overflows into the tank. You can thank your local bureaucrat.
Wayne Crews I have a diesel generator that had a grey market single cylinder yanmar clone in it and it wouldn’t start one morning and my father gave it a snort of ether before I could stop him and it popped once and split the head in half and shattered the piston. It only had 200 hours on it. Needless to say I replaced the motor with a real yanmar and it has about 8k hours on the meter now and god knows how many prior to me buying it.
Mate I need to buy that blue shirt folder and impress my wife, now I’m searching for the shirt folder. I just continue to be impressed by your quick diagnosis’s and problem solving skills
My first thought was that...that line was a Fuel Vapor recovery line, preventing raw fuel escaping wild into our atmosphere. Especially since it fed back into the top of the fuel tank. A completely wasted appendage some engineer stuck on to make an enviroActivist to feel happy. But I sold on buying one of those heated PW’s in the near future. Having clean equipment alone can build a business. Not New and shiny, more like worked, bruised, and glowing with purpose!!! Great video... God Bless
That pressure washer sat out in the rain for way too long. Happened to me when I forgot one of my mowers behind the garage for a few weeks. Engine, carb, and oil were all flooded with water. I ended up draining everything and then getting a universal carb off Amazon for $15. It's been great since.
You have the patience of a saint. Soon as i would have pulled the plug and gas spray out i would have swore repeatedly. Then pull the oil plug and see gas come out i would have called it everything but a pressure washer and kicked it over
I guess there is a hard line or plastic line in the tank wich is pointing to the bottom instead of the top part of the tank. It collects gas fumes and send them into the intake. You shouldn't be obliged to get a vented gas cap, since the tank will not be under vacuum once it's working properly. The hose venting fumes on the intake side wich is under atmospheric pressure.(before throttle plate)
All evap systems are vent valves, they are sealed systems venting in the vacuum side ,and the pressure is equalized by allowing a part of the vent tube to go on the intake side PRIOR the throttle plate. The hose you see on this washer is doing both : allowing fumes to be sucked in,and allowing air to go in the tank from the intake.
That line is the vent for the gas tank - inside the tank it 'should curve up to the top of the tank...the gas cap is not vented...if you leave the hose blocked, the motor will eventually starve for fuel until you loosen the gas cap (or get a vented cap)... The pressure washer will run all day as long as it has water, oil, gas and kerosene in it... A tip - do not run the engine for more than a few minutes at a time without spraying the pressure gun for a few seconds - this lets "fresh" cool water into the pump. If you don't press the gun's trigger, the same water in the pump just recirculates, getting hotter and hotter and the pump will overheat...which will cut down on the life of the pump's seals and plungers...The plungers are usually made of ceramic and can crack in as little as 5 minutes if fresh inlet water is not allowed into the pump via the garden hose.
5 років тому
@@sharpshorts You can see around 9:30 that it only heats when you run it. I guess it has pressure meter which will cut off heater and disengage engine when it reaches maximum pressure, at least I've seen similar thing working this way (but without heater). It won't load engine so it revs higher when you are not spraying. The other thing is if this one is (tap) water cooled or just air cooled. Most of cheaper machines use cold water for cooling engine but bigger ones, especially with Honda engines that are quite popular in Europe are air cooled and you can run it all day long without spraying. It only needs water to build up pressure, otherwise it won't disengage clutch for pump and will try to pump air all the time.
With that fuel line coming from Midway up the gas tank I would say it is acting like a siphon and is draining a half tank of gas into the intake witches flooding the cylinder and filling the crankcase with gasoline. When you first pulled it over and it jammed up because of the fuel being in the cylinder that is what they call hydraulic lock. It could very well have had a crankcase explosion I'm blown the motor up. I'll say this Andrew you are very diligent, when a problem presents itself you get right to it and resolved quickly. Other guys might have just said screw it doesn't run and pushed it into the shop and left it in the corner to collect dust.
Great shirts a little heavy for the heat in the south but when it comes to t-shirts they run back and forth in that area, i really like mine. (Also i want to thank the Lord for a great outcome on my cancer surgery, a while to recover now, and very sorry to ever smoking!) Keep up the great videos while i need something to look forward to getting back to work!!!
I just bought a Mi-T-M hot water pressure washer. It is a true commercial-grade machine that is built to last many years and it is so much easier to use. Anything made by Mi-T-M is going to be the best money can buy. It is also the most expensive. You get what you pay for.
All it needs is a caustic soap dispenser. We had one of these sorts of heated pressure washers installed centrally at a job I used to work at cleaning/refurbishing drilling rigs. The soap made all the difference in the world.
I am guessing (maybe you found out) something (a tube) INSIDE the tank, that was going (floating?) to the top of the fuel, fell off or disintegrated and raw gas was flowing right into the crankcase breather through the outside line. You have the right idea. Plug it off and vent the cap. The engineer that came up with that one was the sister of the inspector that made you tear up the septic system that you had just installed. :-)
I have the same unit. Got it at auction in Ct. Had a few small problems also. But it works awesome now. We even have the sand blasting attachment. Also works well.
@ Andrew You my want to rethink the sandblaster attachment. I got and used it on a trailer. The trailer was orange the next morning on the 1/2tha TV in sandblasted. I did the whole thing with conventional sandblasting and the part t did with pressure washer rusted back under the paint I thing the 4000psi imbedded the water in the metal. I sandblast a lot of stuff and have never had a problem ( except toe time I used that attachment, ) I am going with HOTSIE now . They are more money but better quality, my friend has had used them for 20 years and they are made about 50 miles from me.
if the water hose is pressurizing the pump it will make you fight against it when you pull the cord to start it. I Just squeeze the trigger on the wand to relieve the pressure and it will be easier to pull and start.
Hey Andrew, very cool to see all your good work! Have watched a bunch of you videos. Love the vibe, content and everything to learn. I used to make big films and know what quality looks like.
This is a much improved Steam Jenny that I used when working for Maintenance Dept in McDonnell Douglas Canada years ago... the grease and grime it washed off under power was awesome. By the way it was on huge Farnham milling machines that milled spars that were assembled inside inside MD11, MD 80 wings. Was one of the dirtiest, stinkiest jobs cleaning coolant oil and aluminum chips out off the machine and coolant tank. BTW it done a great job.... wish I had the machine now lol
hey Andrew, my name is nick. I met you there at the auction that day. didn't realize I was bidding against you on the pressure washers. I ended up getting the 3rd one. I bought it for a lady that has a trucking company. I don't know if she has tried hers yet but if it has the same problems, I can now point her to your video to get it up and running. Also was nice to meet you!
Slick as melted butter. Glad it worked for you. Electric start is a must . I hate pulling start if cold weather. Enjoy all you videos. Thanks for doing them.
Please Read I have an engine like that, that has the same problems. The fuel problem for me was to do with the small pin on the float, not stopping the fuel from flooding the carb bowl. Then the petrol would hidro-lock the engine and would leek into the crank case through the piston rings and mix with the oil. I address this issue by buying a slightly bigger pin with a bigger rubber point. Ps, love your videos. Really interesting and keep me occupied👍👌
That's definitely one potential cause. Another possible cause is a bad needle valve in the carburetor OR a tiny bit of "trash" on the needle valve or needle valve seat, that allows the valve to not seat/set completely, thus causing the flooding issue. I've watched quite a few videos regarding this. Some guys suggest adding a fuel shutoff in the line to the carb, but honestly, that's just a band-aid fix for the real/underlying problem. There's a 99.9% chance the flooding issue is either a bad needle valve or needle valve seat in the carb OR the float itself has a pinhole in it, allowing the float itself to take on fuel, and so it never floats to the top and allows fuel to continuously flow...
I just found your channel a couple of days ago looking at tractor stuff. I've noticed 2 things now that I'm about 5 video's in... #1. You do great work and I wish I could find someone like you in TN. #2. I'm holding out for a video where there isn't snow on the ground and/or the ground isn't wet.
You should have spent a bit more money and got a BE hot water washer, ua-cam.com/video/2eV3maByYFc/v-deo.html It comes with a Honda engine General pump and is made by people who actually know how to make a pressure washer. Unlike that thing you bought that is slapped together with the worst of the Chinese parts.
I love all your videos. I am a you tube addict and yours are the best in equipment and excavation. You are a pro and shows in everything you do. Keep em coming.
Really? The gun on mine wont stop spraying now, the heater switch fell apart, and the blower doesn't turn off (not the switch), and it kills the battery. I guess I got the bad one.
@@AndrewCamarata Update: My heater switch fell apart and mine wouldn't stop spraying. Inside the spray handle there is a o-ring that melts if you go over a certain temperature. I believe its over 180º witch is stupid if the washer can get a lot hotter than that.
Even if you had a melt down, the fact you chose to edit it out shows a lot more character than I have. I would have commented more about how gas got into the crankcase, WOW! Having been in sales my whole life - I can assure you anyone who sees this video would not buy this brand. You never said a negative word, what a pro!
Please post up a satisfying video of you power washing the dump truck engine. Watched the engine fan pulley bearing replacement video the other day, and the drivers side of your truck's engine was coated in grease/oil.
I have the same washer...if it has the spot for the battery you neeed it for the burner..or else it would have the cord. Always pull the trigger to relive the water pressure
You should build a wash down pad with a grease trap to collect the oil etc. You don't want to wash the oil and stuff off of your gear onto the driveway. It is still nasty stuff but it will be spread all all over the drive. i agree with your sentiments regarding electronic stuff on working equipment. I find a lot of faults are caused by the built in diagnostic systems themselves..
I’m like you. I’ll buy stuff no one wants and I’ll take my time and fix it up. I bought a steam genie at a city surplus auction. They said it was tore up and didn’t know what was wrong with it. I got it for $100 and piddled around with it and found out the flywheel was rusted up as it wasn’t getting any fire. I sanded the flywheel and coil and changed the plug and it fired right up. My son has used it and made over a $1000 with it in two weeks time. I’ve got $106 in a $3000 machine and two hours of my time. Never let anyone discourage you from doing what you do.
Hey, I just picked one of these yesterday and your video will help me go through it as I use it. Mine was from a guy who just had no room in his shop and never used it much. Easy Kleen 15 horsepower.
My friend trained as a mechanical engineer in Nanjing, the college, Highschool and primary school were all linked to an institute and factory that was dedicated to reverse engineering products. They did not teach any subjects that were not related to mechanical and electronic engineering. Even in primary school they were taught technical drawing. She can recall seeing a fax machine sending faxes to each other and they were wired up about 10 metres apart, there team leader said we have the blue prints and now we have to build a copy
That heat coil will last a longer longer if you run cold water through it when you're done for like 3 to 5 minutes. Trust me, I've fixed a ton of them and they ain't cheap
the line from the top of the tank is a vapor breather to the carb. you have water in the pump and holding open the spray valve makes it easy to start.if you over fill the fuel tank the gas runs down to the carb and floods out the engine,
@4:00 - money shot! That had to be a frustrating thing to see. And working on a brand new carb is never a good experience. Motor oil full of gasoline too. Hmm.
This line is for emmisions in some parts of the world, because these motors are sold everywhere they wont make a different design for new york state. The way that it is supossed to work is is to vent the gasses from the tank in the air intake instead of outside. Normally you should not fill the tank higher then the level of this hose.
Great pressure washer. Never leave it running when not being used....it will eat itself up! Everytime you have to stop ...even for 30 seconds...shut it down and restart it....or just leave the trigger held open...so it is constantly spraying!

Magnum should pay you to take this video down.
😂😂😂 I agree!
Lmao
.
.
🤣
Bobcat should pay him to never mention their name again.
I watch a lot of your videos and can tell enough from them that you are a pragmatic and humble individual. So I don’t think a stranger’ s complement on UA-cam mean much to you. But in any case your dad can truly feel proud of his son. He will not have to worry about you. Your drive and work ethic will ensure that you will always be successful.
This guy does more before 6am than most people do all day!
3:55 😂😂 man I haven't laughed this hard in a very, very long time. Thank you.
Edit:
I guess it is a clone since it doesn’t have any Honda labelling on it anywhere.
Wayne Crews look closely it says honton
This is why I like to watch this fella cos he don't edit the bad bits out Also as young as he is he has tough me to be patient !!!!!!!!!
It's so impressive how you are able to fix anything.

Mate I need to buy that blue shirt folder and impress my wife, now I’m searching for the shirt folder. I just continue to be impressed by your quick diagnosis’s and problem solving skills
3:52 i flinched so hard lmao
Yep, I ducked to get out of the spray. :)
I flinched so hard my cigarette fell out of my mouth. It's a sign to quit.
Thank you!!
I flinched a little too
At least he turned the key off so their was no spark
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
My first thought was that...that line was a Fuel Vapor recovery line, preventing raw fuel escaping wild into our atmosphere. Especially since it fed back into the top of the fuel tank. A completely wasted appendage some engineer stuck on to make an enviroActivist to feel happy.
But I sold on buying one of those heated PW’s in the near future.
Having clean equipment alone can build a business. Not New and shiny, more like worked, bruised, and glowing with purpose!!! Great video...
God Bless
my god i thought he was going to rebuild the engine in like 3 minutes lol this guy knows what he's doing haha
You are a Great Mechanic and very hard working. God bless you and your family
That pressure washer sat out in the rain for way too long. Happened to me when I forgot one of my mowers behind the garage for a few weeks. Engine, carb, and oil were all flooded with water. I ended up draining everything and then getting a universal carb off Amazon for $15. It's been great since.
Brand new, I came here to learn about hot water pressure washers but these issues are much more interesting
Yes the joys of auctions!
Very practical.
It does too, because there is a bit of vacuum between the throttle plate and the air filter, and mostly when the engine is reving up
"I recon it aint got no gas in it uhhh hmm " Karl CHilders
Eugene Courtney Best wishes on your recovery I hope you return to good health very soon.
@@mariesophie3053 Thank you, it all was a big scare.
I just bought a Mi-T-M hot water pressure washer. It is a true commercial-grade machine that is built to last many years and it is so much easier to use. Anything made by Mi-T-M is going to be the best money can buy. It is also the most expensive. You get what you pay for.
Netflix: are you still watching?
Someone’s daughter: 3:52
Watching your videos motivates me to work harder!
I've been power washing for a long time and I love the heated one's
Me too. I just brought one. I am a girly with no strength so I use the key start.
Yeah, that thing gets stuff clean. I want to get the sandblaster for it.
@ Andrew
You my want to rethink the sandblaster attachment. I got and used it on a trailer.
The trailer was orange the next morning on the 1/2tha TV in sandblasted. I did the whole thing with conventional sandblasting and the part t did with pressure washer rusted back under the paint
I thing the 4000psi imbedded the water in the metal. I sandblast a lot of stuff and have never had a problem ( except toe time I used that attachment, )
I am going with HOTSIE now .
For sure you always should hold the gun down when starting a pressure washer
I had forgot all about that. Soon as a guy told me that she started right up. You NEVER forget after that.
That's what I always do, but I thought it was just because my pressure washer was unique. I guess not!
Mine did not do that when it was new. But I had to rebuild the carb and ever since then I've had to hold the trigger to start it.
I guess he didn't read the extensive and helpful users manual.
The joy on his face walking up with his pressure washer.
When I die, I want to come back as Andrew's son.
I love how you elimunate poseble problems and Figure it out wats wrong with it.
Dang when a vent makes your gas tank really half its capacity
You sir are a dying breed...I don’t know how ole you are, but you’re cut from the same cloth as myself. Diligent, persistent, and curious. Well done!
Love your videos Andrew! Cool pressure washer ... I would go crazy on our ranch cleaning things if I had that pressure washer 😀
Then the *tax man would hear about your place and hit you up 4 a bigger cut.*
Okay, I have been looking at your name... you are either a United States Nerd from Orange County...or a United States Navy Emergency Room Doctor.
hey Andrew, my name is nick.
Yes, same here. Hopefully hers doesn't have those issues.
May I ask how much you paid for something like this at auction ?
Slick as melted butter. Glad it worked for you. Electric start is a must . I hate pulling start if cold weather. Enjoy all you videos. Thanks for doing them.
All the fluid leaking created more emission problems than the machine it's self.
Please Read
I have an engine like that, that has the same problems.
New toy, everything gets washed lol 👍. I spent a few hours cleaning anything I could lol
I just found your channel a couple of days ago looking at tractor stuff. I've noticed 2 things now that I'm about 5 video's in... #1. You do great work and I wish I could find someone like you in TN. #2. I'm holding out for a video where there isn't snow on the ground and/or the ground isn't wet.
those things are damn expensive on the open market... hopefully you got a good deal at auction!
3000.00 US
You should have spent a bit more money and got a BE hot water washer, ua-cam.com/video/2eV3maByYFc/v-deo.html
It comes with a Honda engine General pump and is made by people who actually know how to make a pressure washer. Unlike that thing you bought that is slapped together with the worst of the Chinese parts.
@@stevesmlz I always hate those Chinese Honda clones besides HFT Predator engines because they're cheap and not bad for what you pay
A dollar 280
@@danleehill I think retail is 3800.00.....did good..
what an honest review. The guy buys the thing and spends half the day fixing to get it started! I would taken it back!
since it uses hot water, it is actually called a power washer
Ya ok
I love all your videos. I am a you tube addict and yours are the best in equipment and excavation. You are a pro and shows in everything you do. Keep em coming.
I bought one of the other three at that auction it was flawless.
@@Chasedgaming Cheapies always pay twice.
You mean the Ford Undercoating? It keeps the salt away!
I have the same washer...if it has the spot for the battery you neeed it for the burner..or else it would have the cord. Always pull the trigger to relive the water pressure
thinking about buy a used one the same size and low hours what's a fair price to pay for the pressure washer???
@@kennywimmer8347 1000 bucks
3:52 Ahhh, right in my eyes!
Thanks Andrew I’m glad I seen this before buying one of these
You should build a wash down pad with a grease trap to collect the oil etc. You don't want to wash the oil and stuff off of your gear onto the driveway. It is still nasty stuff but it will be spread all all over the drive. i agree with your sentiments regarding electronic stuff on working equipment. I find a lot of faults are caused by the built in diagnostic systems themselves..
Burnt fuses and malfunctioning safety systems are half the problems on lawn mowers as well.
Never let anyone discourage you from doing what you do.
i feel so uneasy about running a new machine full throttle straight away. also power washing an engine bay lol. have had bad experiences doing both.
I like your determination to make this machine run and run good too...
Emission controls just make things worse. Absolutely true.
Pretty sure your suppose to keep running cold water through the pump after you shut the heat off. Great vid
Yeah the water doesn’t heat up until it has already passed through the pump
You don’t want hot water sitting in the coil. Very bad for it and the longevity of its life.
That heat coil will last a longer longer if you run cold water through it when you're done for like 3 to 5 minutes. Trust me, I've fixed a ton of them and they ain't cheap
you are a very good mechanic! world-class!
pretty sure you only supposed to fill the pump oil to half way in the sight glass brah
Your coolest videos are the ones where you have to stop to fix something. The ingenuity is contagious. Great vid bud :)
Number one problem, it's not a Honda. It's a knock off. I would replace it with an electric start gx390.
Your absolutely right, those slant eyed commies are devious. Trump2020
That machine is good. It takes a while to learn how to use. You guys are lucky to have access to such machine. How I'd love to lay my hands on it!
That line is for the prime pump, it primes the carb and sends the extra fuel back to the top of the tank...
the line from the top of the tank is a vapor breather to the carb. you have water in the pump and holding open the spray valve makes it easy to start.if you over fill the fuel tank the gas runs down to the carb and floods out the engine,
@4:00 - money shot!
That line should not be mounted lower than the fuel fill port.
@@AndrewCamarata yeah kind of a bad design in my opinion
Btw I love your videos!
If all else fails get an owner's manual downloaded from the internet and read it. Or watch a UA-cam video on it.
owner manual will be in chinglish
Great pressure washer. Never leave it running when not being used....it will eat itself up! Everytime you have to stop ...even for 30 seconds...shut it down and restart it....or just leave the trigger held open...so it is constantly spraying!
I'm so glad I sold all my equipment with engines and became a drug dealer. I don't miss 18 years of lawn service.
itll catch up to you soon. just watch. im sure you love the fact that you have to look over your shoulder all day hoping not to get caught up 😂
