I didn't expect this to be the approach as I was looking for procedural gen/map conversion with UE5's PGC plugin... but that is still cool and made me think of another way to go about it: I want to turn planned routes (i.e. walking or cycling) into equivalent levels, and with this I was thinking if you could just use the crude 3D model from Google and use it as a low-res skybox, more or less, while we sample the near vicinity of the path we're going to spruce it up with artificial, procedural details; sample patches of the texture, maybe find (or rigidly allocate) assets with a similar hue - extra points if you go hard and use some ML classifier to determine different terrain, vineyards, fields, bridges... you get where I'm going with this - and then populate them along the main roads, arbitrarily far away from the player, I suppose.
I'm still not quite sure how best to do this, but I really want to make it happen sooner than later for my home trainer sessions.

Wow, I always wanted to try that - a game that is based on real maps OMG : ) but is there a way to have the map in real time sort of, the whole world? You create a globe and then map the map onto it?

for some reason, Ive tried several times following your instructions and still cant get the 3d houses to come up just stays flat can you help am using win11 and all the software as you explained. I click in 3d in google and get as close as can before it goes to street level and then go back to 2d and all but still comes out flat.

The command line flag "--disable gpu sandbox" that you are using is not allowed as it affects stability and security.
Me too. Then, RenderDoc says connection is stablished but API remains=None. It seems Chrome has been updated to block this "hack".

hmm are not all cities mapped to 3d? i took a few ones in europe and the 3d map still shows flat data other than terrain and completely flattened compared to others cities. is this a limitation of google and what has been scanned?
Google Map 3D will update from time to time. Not all cities are 3D available.

I built a character with fuse and imported into accurig and all went fine.
then brought into unreal and the skel is fine BUT all the objs like eyes etc are all messed up and weird opacity. Help!

I want to know how to make 3D maps more Clear and high resolution.
I'm on a project but I don't know how to do it
Only as clear as what you see. Try using a smaller sample then add in multiple. Or even add your own textures and decor on top of it! Think of it like this is tracing a picture with pencil now you have to color it and bring it to life!!!

Hi. This method no more works... I am going to think a new method to get it.
I got this error messages: " Error Couldn't allocate remote memory for DLL " " Error Can't locate renderdoc.dll in remote PID 248400"

I get a Chrome notifiaction "The command line flag "--disable gpu sandbox" that you are using is not allowed as it affects stability and security." Then, RenderDoc says connection is stablished but API remains=None. It seems Chrome has been updated to block this "hack".
