How to bring the entire WORLD into Unreal Engine 5 - Cesium Tutorial

- This is how I used Cesium to import the entire Earth into Unreal Engine 5. I originally talked about this in previous videos where I was preparing to rebuild Peterborough in UE5. After countless hours trying to manually scan, optimize, and import pieces from Google Earth, I discovered Cesium and wanted to share how I set it up.
It uses Google Map Tiles API, essentially bringing all of Google Earth into Unreal. In case you were wondering, yes I took all those pictures in the thumbnail using this tool.

Paste this into the URL section as mentioned in the video. Replace MapsAPIKey with your own key.

A lot more followers coming your way with such quality content
Awesome tutorial Matt! Its well laid out and easy to follow. I managed to get this up and going in minutes thanks to you. You probably saved many of us a great deal of hours doing this on our own. Thanks again! 😊
Glad I could help!
Thanks for the step you mentioned for enabling the map api
Great tutorial by the way, it would be awesome to have more of these!
Thanks!
This is so underrated, I love this video and you now have a new subscriber!
Thanks!!
Very cool! You got a new follower ! Eager to test it 😉
Great video and really interesting that it is possible to bring Google maps into Unreal Engine .. Keep up the great work ..
Great job I’m on a similar path. Two issues I keep coming across I’m curious if you’ve figured out.
1) How to prevent Cesium from ever reloading the tiles after they’ve loaded and cached the first time?
2) How to convert the tiles to a real landscape to interact with water simulations?
It is awesome for large area architect design.
But for level design om the street/houses, There is not enough pixels to make it playable.
I use to import DTM Height map files that I convert to greyscale.
Then load into unreal, and start to build my map from there.
I add grass, sand, Stones, roads, houses and so on.
I tried importing a height map but it didn’t really line up with Google Earth. I was planning on using this as a template to rebuild Peterborough but still figuring it out.
Can you make more tutorials on this?
I’m going to make a game with this
How accurate are the elevation contours
there is some brightness issue, It's too bright to see the actual map, how to adjust it?
If I only use the Google Maps tiles add-on from the marketplace, is there no hidden fee or something for using their data? It says free up to $300 of usage per month. But how is usage accounted for? I don't want to see a charge from Google on my Creditcard next month 😅
Nice work . Br great if it was possible to drive a car round your own city .
I placed the cube but nothing appears when I start the game I am placed on the cube but the card does not appear and if I get off the cube I am in a vacuum ....
Area on Google Maps has to be in 3D for this to work. My home town is not yet 3D but a City North of me is. So all I can do with my home city is maybe use it in a fly over.
that’s a rip
I have the same issue. My world is blocky and resolution is low. I am trying to make a small area almost photo realistic. Have you found any solutions?
did you find a solution yet?
7:09: Is the water modificable ? 🤔🤔😯😯
I always get to the lat/long part and it brings up the default fine, then i change it to another coordinate and i just get black screen? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Weird, it should just rotate the Earth underneath you to line up with the coordinates. Did you try deleting everything and starting over?
Upload more pls bro
I think I wouldn't even be able to get an API key. Sad
Help please to make maps offline
It uses Google’s API so you can’t since it has to stream it from them
Im making a game were you have superpowers and couldnt decide were to set it so i decided the whole world
im looking to just get a small portion of the map but at very high quality because i dont need the entire map but i just want a high quality small portion of my hometown
edit: nvm i didnt watch the whole vid yet if you just want a small portion of the map watch 7:20
Is using this with ar possible like in this unity video?

I think so but not sure. It looks like he’s using Cesium as well in that video.
@@mattlinkert he uses a google ar add on, but it’s not currently available for unreal. Wondering if there’s an alternative way to do so
