Yep, and then using generative AI to fill in all the gaps and build everything in 3d with unreal engine . It will happen one day, but I just hope it is faster than 20 years (which is what I predict now).
@@jimj2683 They already use AI to tidy up all the buildings and stuff which is why the buildings look so sharp as if it was actually modelled. They also remove cars and stuff from the roads too which is why 2d mode has lots of cars and then 3d mode the road is clear. Just a couple more steps to tidy up the ground level and you'll have a nicely modelled map of the world to walk around in which is crazy. They could probably use street view car data to help out since they already take lidar scans of the street level and have done since near the start I think. I assume theres some legal mumbo jumbo that'll stop it though.
They already had that about 15 years ago in a similar way in Google earth, where you could generate 3d models in sketch up and add them to the right location on Google.

Yep. They are using AI right now to make old video footage high res and color. Heck, even 3d. In the future they will be using AI to turn the low quality old google maps into something super high quality that you can drive around in and explore.

Here is a challenge - Collect data how much data consume one user for the expected playtime for a day using imagery and elevations, check pricing, then multiply that by 30, than multiply that by the expected playerbase number, and that would be the expenses for a single month. than make video about the resulting numbers :D And i subscribed :)
were you able to get the topographic data? I thought that one of the uses of Cesium would be to import into UE5 real landscapes, then you would just need to paint it and add assets.
My Map Tiles are missig when rendering out from the movie render queue, however they work fine in viewport, any idea if something has to be set up for this :)
For those who are not able to export the scene, why not load the tiles, use render warmup, I set it to 256 warmup frames, and it loaded my scene before rendering the shot.
I used the Cartographic Polygon like you said in the video but the colliders are still there. How can I remove colliders? Also could you scan for the city of London as an object. And then delete Cesium?

During rendering, Google tiles are loaded constantly and this spoils the entire render. I do not know how to fix it. Pruning didn't help in any way. Perhaps the quality of the cut should be reduced to the default level? I have it on the 8th

question, when having the camera fly by how can I make it so that the mountains in the background stop changing? for example I have my scene ready with camera movement but as the camera moves through the scene some of the trees in the background shift and change into another frame from a different angle, is there a way to keep the same picture of the mountain still? or is this because of the lack of photo info it has on the area?

Since saving those huge tilesets is illegal in theory, ( its a shame since at least for distant backgrounds even if low poly theyre pretty accurate and good looking ), I wonder what is the best way to at least copy the terrain without doing it by hand. I wonder if maybe some kind of height maps import could do the job, and then just use the gmaps tilesets as a reference to draw things on

I'm a beginner when it comes to unreal and cesium, I want to create an application where I can use get the coordinates for a building address from google's geo api, crop everything in the universe except for the builidng, use some sort of computer vision algorithm to count the number of windows on a specific building in unreal, does this sound feasible? are there any pitfalls you would warn against? can you point me to tutorials or give me a skilltree of things I must master before I attempt this? (I'm proficient with web development and ML, no experience with unreal or google maps api)

I have the Cesium3DTileset working fine, but after adding a ThirdPersonCharacter and a cube to land on, when I press play the 3D Tiles do not load, I only see the character fall onto the cube, which I can move around. When I stop playing the level the 3D tiles reappear. Not sure what i'm doing wrong and how to get the 3D tiles to render when playing the level?
@@MrKams1 Thanks -the cube height is placed nicely above the tiles before I press play, and seems to be in the same place after when the character lands on it. Just no tiles rendering

Just imagine the combination of Google maps, Unreal Engine 5 and GPT. I think GPT could render everything to high resolution by searching itself the best building of the market or tree or car or whatever.
@@qad417 I don't know what it is this guy wants so I can't understand his question properly. EDIT: I understand now. By leave behind the google API he means to not rely on the google API or the streaming from Cesium as you have to be connected to the internet and logged in for the places to load/ stream into the scene as you explore. Unfortunately the Cesium meshes aren't exactly static meshes. They're drawn in real-time from coordinates and not stored as static meshes anywhere. They're full of N-Gons too. What may be possible with both the google API meshes and the Cesium meshes is that you could select a general area and goto file > export selected. I haven't tested this but it might export as obj or fbx and you'll get mesh/ texture data. Good luck though because google's textures are an absolutely shit show and need packing properly to make a reusable asset from. Check out a blender addon called 'lily packer'.
@@MonsterJuiced Exactly, for example if you want to migrate the level to a project with no cesium in it, or simply working offline. Im downloading 3D meshes from google earth with the renderdoc and blender workflow, but is a little bit painful to do for a big area with the closer quality.

I was doing exactly that for a location in my city. Renderdoc and ripped the chunk to model over and get scales about right. It helped a ton but this new release by google has really made things so, so much easier and more accessible.

There should definitely be a way to bake the Cesium mesh and edit it yourself. An Unreal plugin for this would be perfect.

Hi add a player start to your level and ensure to move it above the landscape.
I suggest using exr. file format for no loss of render, and also 16 for aa.

If you can't see it in your UI, go to Window>World Settings (3/4s of the way down)

i think you can do it blender, but cesium themselves have a new feature that allows you to crop and keep parts of their dataset

the google data would have to be accessible, there may be other workflows using other google data in DCCs but not in ue5 afaik

I hope someone is wokring on a plugin that uses AI to clean up the textures and maby some of the geometry so it f.e replaces trees eith actual tree models etc. That would be a dream.
I have been modeling the canary wharf area for a few months now, from original cad dwgs using 3dsmax for unreal, all buildings even the ones in construction phase though not yet complete
if I cant get layout plans sections, I was using Rendrdoc and google earth, but this integration seems much better.

I was doing exactly that for a location in my city. Renderdoc and ripped the chunk to model over and get scales about right. It helped a ton but this new release by google has really made things so, so much easier and more accessible.
