It puts things into perspective. The officer understands that he is a working man that just had a bag of weed. If he were not to say that, the search would have been more thorough and the stop would’ve been more intense. When he said that the cops defense was lowered.

Very true. That’s why people laugh at accusations like that is because you have a cop pulling over a black woman for speeding, is very professional and kind yet the woman calls him a skinhead. Look up the video, it’s called something like “woman calls cop skinhead after pulling her over”
As long as it still works, people would say literally anything. It is what it is. If it works even 5% of the time people will never stop trying it. People like this will do or say most anything to avoid taking responsibility for their own choices. It's sad but true and it really isn't about race at all. If old people got out of trouble by saying "I'm old" the result would be the exact same thing. The 'race card' has much more than a 5% success rate of making (white) people back off, so it's here to stay until the day comes where it *never* works.
