This is absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing this wonderful history. I am always an enormous fan of Mercedes Benz. To me they make the best cars. The AMG is so incredibly successful.
I used to have 2001 CLK AMG 430, Engine was regular Benz, but almost everything else was AMG and that car was just something I cannot experience any more, and after that I've had mustang, Trans AM, Z4 roadster, Boxter, 540 and S4 but still cannot find anything that perfect. Now I'm in France where I do not use any car but end of this year I hope to find true love again
Wow, this video makes me even more proud to own my AMG-tuned Merc. Really professional stuff, checked my engine just to see the signature of the guy who made it!
Excellent History ! but today the engineers of AMG have another obligation to succeed and that is to manufacture a car to WIN the Nissan GTR(perhaps a special SLS AMG)! Its a matter of HONOR!
@xanderschwab there is no doubt that Mercedes-Benz has had its quality issue mostly of that is due to the chrysler merger chrysler was in the whole and mercedes spent all their money buying them so cutting quality to save money was the only way to pay the defficit and now the mercedes is getting the name back no matter what Mercedes-Benz is the only car that will stay in my heart
@BlagoP they don't need to make performance car with manual transmission .. watch this video again, DIFFERENT is the word they repeat again and again ))
The last comment was, "You have to be crazy." I agree. AMG is unnecessary except as a marketing ploy, which makes an expensive car ridiculously overpriced. I bought a non-AMG SL on purpose. I do need anything the AMG version would provide -- especially more power. If my SL has a fault it would be too much power. Where can I go 180 Mph, or 0 to 60 in 5 secs? I would rather have a smooth-purring straight six and get better gas mileage. My SL looks small, but it isn't. It is very heavy at 4400 lbs.
I've had 4 Mercedes, and my favorite is my E55 AMG w210. Luv it. The Best or Nothing

I think if AMG made more manual cars, such as C63 and E63 with a 6spd manual, they could overtake BMW as a performance brand.
I bet that MB buys Brabus next.. :D
The volkswagen that my parents have has problems like feet smelling AC and the trunk opens every now and then.
English translation is very poor - lot of mistakes, for example in middle of '70s it wasn't 6.3 SL but 6.3 SEL
