- The 2018 model year GMC Terrain was redesigned from the ground up to fall in line with GMC’s latest design language. Pricing for the Terrain starts at $24,995 for the SL model; with the top-of-the-line Denali going for $39,300. The SLT model seen here starts at $31,400. Styling elements upfront include: a new grille, c-shaped headlights, and a sculpted hood.
Under the hood the 2018 GMC Terrain is powered by a 1.5 liter turbocharged Ecotec 4-cylinder engine that makes 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft. of torque. Thankfully engine upgrades are possible with the 2.0 liter engine that makes 252 horsepower or a 1.6 liter Diesel 4-cylinder. The gas powered engines get a 9-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy for the 1.5 liter is 26 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway.

The C shaped daytime running lights will not fully light up until the car gets shifted into drive @0:50. Since the car is parked you can barely see the cool C shaped DRL's.
These reviewers don't realize that most buyers will be moms picking up there kids from school and dropping them off at soccer practice
I think the Terrain looks great. Its styling actually stands out in a group of boring styled SUVs
It's almost "minivan like" in appearance. Which is probably why it stands out and appeals too many. I know it does for me. And will probably be my next vehicle. However, one thing is for sure GMC should have NEVER dropped the 2.0 engine. They could have left it exclusive to only the Denali trim as they did from 2018-2020. Or as a "paid option" for lower models. That 252hp and 260lbs torque was the perfect pairing for this vehicle.
@@tomtalker2000 Agree about the 2.0 engine. I have that on my 2020 and love the power and torque. Don't know what GM was thinking by not offering a premium engine but marketing GMC as a premium brand.
I swear they will find anything to complain...lol
Blake Swan well I think it's fine and I'll take it over the others SO WITH THAT SAID you all truth are invalid!
keri ellerbe Facts 👌🏼
I like to the gear buttons.
Note after having driven the Terrain for a few minutes, you can quite readily find reverse & drive buttons by feel (they're inset, while P, N & L are not), which is better than most of the non-stick shifters.
Stop Complaining... its a GMC NOT A BMW!
The thing to consider here is this is a quite adequate daily driver. The push button shifter is also no big deal on a grocery getter like this. It took me about a day to get used to it. The great thing was the unbelievable lease deal I got. 2 years and 20K miles for me. Gave them $150 up front plus a GM Credit Card Coupon I had worth $750 and the per month is only $153.00. That includes the MO sales tax. This is costing me less than the Nissan Sentra I am turning in. I think I got a big rebate for having a competitor's lease. My wife thinks this car is big. It is inside, but the outside is exactly the same length as the Sentra. Even in the basic trim, it feels more expensive. I love the Android Auto. Hook up my phone and the Google Map integrates with the car's touchscreen. The 1.5 turbo engine, while not exciting, is quite competent. Feels fine to drive and runs adequately at highway speeds, all while getting small car mileage on a family size, seats 5 easily.
Boss, the car is fine. You are nitpicking on non-issues.
Only car remotely better in the segment is the crv, which is a great car for the money. The gmc looks sophisticated, luxurious and stylish while still remaining practical and fuel efficient. This review is just so weird how he tries so hard to down it.
I was thinking the same thing he complaining about the guard above the tire making the tire look small and a heavy hood like come on lol
I like the fact that you can get one with a diesel.
i just delivered a terrain that has a usb CORD not port next to the others in the center console and i cant figure out what it is for.. it is the male end that goes into the port
I got one 2018 1.5 fwd I could hear the turbo but how do I officially knw it has turbo?
Anyone know the max boost psi on the 1.5l turbos?
Maybe you should hit the gym a couple times a week if that hood is heavy champ lmao
I absolutely LOVE mine. The push button shifter takes getting used to because my other cars have normal gear shifts so I get confused searching for it but after 5 seconds I come to my senses, and yes when I'm trying to do quick maneuvers the buttons work against me, not to mention my nails are usually long so....just a bunch fouls. But I'm born and raised GM lover so when its time to upgrade cant wait to see the newer models and hope they bring back a gear shift, make it similar to the Cadillac.
the first time I drove that car I put my index finger on R and my middle finger on D. I had no issues quickly shifting between R and D while parking
Hey, do you still have the terrain? I am about to buy one and looking for reviews.
It will be a 2019 terrain denali.
Would highly appreciate your feedback.
Thanks
The transmission buttons are a SAFETY FEATURE. A driver should always be deliberate, slow and careful when engaging reverse.
unless trying to escape from a bank robbery etc. haha
Good review thanks!
i wonder how is the cabin noise
There is no spare tire?
Any opinion on the transmission buttons? Are those hard to use on daily basis?
No. I've been driving one for 7 months now and I got used to them in the first few days. Took me less than a week to make muscle memory
I like the styling of the c-hr much more, but the inclusion of awd and the mood roof puts this ahead imo.
Jonathan A true, I was just comparing the two when I was pruchasing.
Love the buttons! That’s amazing.
This guy complains so much. The gear shifter is a non-issue. Yes, there is a learning curve but that is what happens when you evolve and change.
This guy Miles did an excellent job reviewing this car. Most car reviews on UA-cam are trash. This one is not, he went over every facet of the car , things that won't bother the owner until a few months in. Transmission behavior, handling, getting in and out, merging onto the freeway, the instrument cluster appearance etc. many of these things are overlooked in most reviews, This is the stuff that matters. Good job man.
Step up to the Denali package and the black rim around the wheels go away and as far as the rear window design looking like a Murano.........Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Toyota, Mazda and Chevrolet to name a few stepped up to a similar design before GMC made the decision however I think it's clever because the design goes well with the whole package to give it a tough rugged looking front end flowing with simple sweet uniqueness on to the rear keeping cohesive unison which makes for a beautiful ride.
I like it very much for face 💯

Or as a "paid option" for lower models. That 252hp and 260lbs torque was the perfect pairing for this vehicle. It's not too much for GMC to do. Considering other car manufacturers such as Honda are offering 190hp turbo in there CRV.
I have a 2018 SLT and I love ! Feel much better than Honda Crv
this guy is sponsored by someone lol --got that from the first two mins of the video
I like the button shifter, it only takes me 10 seconds to remember were they are without looking. I guess this guy is challenged in the muscle memory area.
A heavy hood ? Really?
Big incentives exceeding $5000 right now make a fairly loaded model a sub $30K puchase which is a bargain against the competition.
It goes faster than you think, it does not take a few seconds to get up the hill I mean I barely touched mine and mine goes from 40 to 70 within a second
Hey, do you still have the terrain? I am about to buy one and looking for reviews.

Bigger cargo holding at 81 cu ft than a CR-V with front passenger seat.
If your talking about total capacity with the front passenger seat folded down. Then yes it's larger. But if your talking about just behind the rear seats it's only 63.3 cubic feet. And that is far smaller then the CR-V's 75 cubic feet. I will say the Terrain has a wider opening when the lift gate is open. The CR-V has a narrow section behind the rear seats. It makes up for that in length not so much on width.
All cars are going to look similar? Of course there is going to be something that reminds sos.thing about another. What are the positive things about the car? Let's focus on that what the the major issues are not what your opinion is.
Good and ⛽
The terrain is one of the safest vehicles on the planet it doesn’t matter what u say why don’t u say something nice about the vehicles for a nice bub
GMC Terrain 1.5 L 4-Cylinder ??? oR GMC Terrain 2.0 L 4-Cylinder???????????????????
The lack of a shifter is a deal breaker for me, it just feels less satisfying to drive
Painful to watch this review, but at least he tries to be balanced. The new Terrains are flying off the lots in sales.
Anthony Evelyn because there is a shit load of incentives on them. You can lease them 0 down $200 a month in my area.
Blake Swan Yeah but GM ain't complaining. They are making a bunch of cash off these.
Anthony Evelyn ok ur the only gmc terrain fan in the world thx for ur opinion as useless as the car
methafuture Not the only Terrain fan in the world, liar.
Yes, the incentives made the difference for me. I picked up an AWD SLE on lease with extra miles for $247 a month. None of the competitors could touch that pricing.
Does nobody in the industry understand how physics works? what does it say about putting in an economy car engine in a big bulky wagon like this?
pontiacGXPfan it says that you get good gas mileage and still as much torque as a 3.0 V6.
@@Onizukachan915 on paper it does. In practice, not unless you have a very light foot
What a weird review. He says everything in a negative way, yet he notes so many things that are good or sometimes better than it’s competition. Honestly seems like every time he compliments something, he has trouble saying it for whatever reason. The car looks pretty good too, so chill out you long torso’d weirdo
Came here to reinforce his buying decision, doesn't find what he's looking for, blames reviewer for pointing out the good and (gasp) bad about the vehicle. Sorry?
MilesPerHr what are you on about? Lol
Actually, I've been driving one of these for that last six months and this is one of the better reviews I have seen. He makes good points all around. I will say that the shifter is not the big deal he is making it out to be in a quick shift scenario. This current generation of buyers is used to placing two fingers on different selectors without looking while gaming. The DRL's are visible enough. Sure, they could be brighter, but they are ok as is. It is a dog on the highway and the styling is sort of hit and miss. He's right about that. Pricing is the turn off with the Terrain, but I found great incentives when I leased, making the Terrain a low price leader.
push button shifting is a deal breaker for me
Me too.
Right? They got rid of this the first time around because it turned out to be a bad design. Another thing, the first time your wife/girlfriend breaks a nail on that you are going to pay.....lol
Harry Jansen wife's are for cunts

Nice to see Ashton Kutcher staying busy after “Two and a Half Men”.
The Terrains are MADE IN MEXICO, plus they have Auto Start/Stop, and per a CarGurus reviewer: a 3-star side crash test rating. All those outweigh the positives, and I say all these as a GM fan and owner.
The Cargurus video is outdated. GMC made an uncommon running update to the 2018 and now rates all 5 stars including rear passenger tests. www.thecarconnection.com/news/1116878_running-update-to-2018-gmc-terrain-2018-chevy-equinox-bolstered-side-impact-crash-safety . You can also look at the NHTSA ratings for the earlier release and the later strengthened release: www.nhtsa.gov/ratings .
Soooo....it's an equinox
crv rogue all cvt trns not fun
Rented one of these in SF and found the interior so GM...seats were too short in cushion length and hard!! Guessing we hard the 1.5 T as it was only ok...Next trip we'll find a comfier mid size sedan!! Proly not GM!
What a complainer. Thumb down. I couldn't finish watching the video without getting aggravated with the little constant negative nitpicking comments.
The current crv and upcoming Rav are miles better than this... What's gm thinking pricing this so high.
Fadi No one pays MSRP. These are $6,000-8,000 off.
They are tops in safety and from my reading so far Zero complaints for 2018 - unlike the CRV fuel in oil problem and the Rav poor passenger safety numbers. You pay for safety and zero complaints.
I disagree. I traded my rav for this car. Say what you want but the 2019 rav had no adjustable seating for the passenger, a gas tank that fills up to 9 gallons instead of 14, loud and bumpier ride, problems with the windows that the tints are coming off, and 8 recalls. I’m happy with my Terrain!
Wtf where they thinking with those buttons!? No wonder they have high incentives on this crap lol
Everything is good about this car but American companies they have to do something stupid always when they build a car like the gear system in this beer GMC and Ford and Dodge this is to everyone every American company you should hire some Asian guys like Japanese to create your car models then at least you'll get some better sales
You haven't seen Acura (and others) with very strange setups
I don't get floating roofs, I hope this fad fades away quickly.
Depends the car, but I like it. What I don’t like are these weird shaped tail lights/head lights on a lot of new cars especially Japanese.
Russell C I love the design it makes some cars distinctive like the new Toyota Camry if you check out a White Camry XSE with the black top it looks amazing what I wish to end is the suv and small 4 cylinder trend
Its luxury. You feel like you are actually flying. Gives good performance too.
Geeeeaaarrss!😰
Shame on u buddy
Why is every car company doing these floating roofs? The front is soooo ugly. The previous generations looked much better.
DAVID Y agree I like the 2015 model
Cheap, especially the interior.
Looks cheapy and fragile compared to the rivals.
U have too many unnecessary opinions
Good review, I think Gm can do better . Is a weak SUV for the money.
He likes one of the most annoying things about this design. The horrible c pillar design. Rear side view is non-existent thanks to it's "artfulness"
Just stopping back here real quick to smash that dislike button.
I would prefer the older model 2015 this model look ugly
1.5l? What a fucking joke
He did a good job. This car is a piece of junk. I was given one as a rental and Holy crap, this thing is slow and uncomfortable!
By far. The worse reviews I have ever seen..just complaints and unnecessary opinions
