The issue that many don’t realize is that the vast majority of people who go “missing” for a day or two show up unharmed soon after. If police went after every single instance of someone disappearing for a few days they’d have few resources to do anything else.
Not to defend by any means. Usually a missing persons report isn't put out until the person has been "missing" for at least 24-48 hours. That being said, as soon as you're presented with video evidence that something shady is going on and the person still hasn't shown up, regardless of the situation, any decent person would have no issue with putting out a report at that point.
Happens with kids that hate there home invioment they usually take off to a friend's house not letting the parents know is why they just up n leave and yes wasting time n resources most the time where the person turns up later on.... everyone needs a breakaway now n then
I love the perspective and attention of this video being so heavily towards the victim, instead of focused on the perpetrator. So respectful and informative
But it’s also useful to get the perspective from the suspect because it helps us see how someone can live a normal life and appear to be a family man, but be plotting nothing but evil things. It helps us see how cowards plan and plot on how to get victims. It helps us learn and be more aware of certain things we do in our day to day life, that can help us defend ourselves in certain situations.
its because he requested a lawyer... so we are not seeing that footage of the interrogation, otherwise this whole video would be based on it. But still very informative video!
This is key. Beware anyone who is cruel to animals saying things like the chickens got squashed on the road because they got out of their run, or not taking a dog to the vet on the weekend who is not able to respond because of the predicted cost...there are small cruelties too that indicate power plays and threat leaking into speech. It's wild out there inthis anonymous dating world. We don't need for love to be a death sentence. Have good old friends, get out and about, you might get lucky one day bur have the fun that stays safe. Join a choir, a hobby, hang out with work mates and family.
what? I know a ton of people who dont take their animals to the vets and while its really crappy they arent violent or anything like that. And youre pretty much talking about every farmer/country person that exists if you want to group people who let their chickens loose to get hit by cars as bad people@@julianolan2860
Major respect to the girlfriend who gave all the information needed even though she was in a relationship with him. There are so many cases where people will withhold information because they want to protect their significant other

Yep 100%!! And that makes me sad and angry that some pull and influence is so obviously needed in some cases for a department to even start taking it half way serious! That should never ever be the case cos how many of us are lucky to have a parent or family friends working in certain sectors of the government? Not many of us I would say.

This poor girl. I can't fathom how anyone could do something so atrocious to an innocent girl. I pray that no brother ever has to experience this horrible feeling. Casey is admirable, and his work was invaluable. What an incredibly tragic and unnecessary loss of life.
As a law enforcement officer myself, that deputy that refused to file a missing persons report NEEDS to be fired. There is absolutely no reason he should be in this field if that’s going to be his attitude.
To still refuse to file a missing persons report after emerging surveillance footage of a strange man getting into her car with her in it and driving away is absolutely unforgiveable.
the fact that law enforcement officer just shrugged this case off as if it was nothing, and tried to cover his ass by immediately calling it a “drug deal.” his acts make my blood boil, and i fear for others lives knowing there is officers out there like this. never will i stereotype other officers, but knowing that there are at least a handful of them like this, im truly speechless. this is why we live in fear. props to the casey, truly holds an influence to never give up.
That officer that refused to make a missing persons report and then try to cast aspersions on Naomi’s character should lose his job and pension. That is delinquency of duty.
That's ridiculous. It did kinda look like a drug deal, I've been in a few.... and she was an 18 year old that hasn't been seen by 1 person for less than a day. But to lose his pension and job? you know how many calls they probably get about a missing 18 or 19 year old that ends up being just that person going to a party out of town or something? It's not that suspicious unless someone had seen something. The next day with actual video of it, it was kinda stupid to just dismiss it at first, but it didn't sound like the cops actually did, just an offhand comment, they put out a BOLO on the car directly after he said that he didn't know and it looked like a drug deal to him.
Yup foreal!!!! I lock my doors sooo much that people get pissed at me. (Family members or roommates) they get pissed about having to unlock it, but hey my Momma always told me "better safe than sorry."
Thank you for spending more time speaking about Naomi, and her family. We always seem to hear about the villain’s life, but not the victim. It was nice to see a loving and supportive family who cared for her, and looked out for her. I’m also impresses with the girlfriend, Zulema, who was eager to work with the police to make sure they knew all the details she knew to be important. I feel no guilt saying I am happy he is gone, and cannot hurt another person again.
The first red flag would have been ‘hey, do you want to go to a really remote area and sit by a water trough for our first date?’ 👀 I mean, they weren’t teenagers!!
If you're a deputy refusing twice to file a missing person's report about a stable, predictable, untroubled person, you should not be a deputy. Go work at McDonalds or something if you care that little about people.
In another one of these videos people reported a homeless guy missing, he had a normal routine where he would come and read in front of this ladys shop and work for some place. They all reported him missing after 1 day and the police took it seriously turns out he had been murdered. People noticed he missed his routine after one day tho and he was a homeless old man.
I don’t understand how such nice people could do something awful like this? I mean they were all on Ashley Madison for Christ sake! I’ve been on that website and tell you what, everyone on there are always such nice, genuine, honest people! It’s almost unbelievable that a man with a AM profile would lie to ANYONE, yet alone their girlfriend and the cops! Craziness I tell ya!
More than likely she was the catalyst for any bit of this. Who knows what that kid grew up?Seeing as a child that made him the way he was but he clearly had a hatred for Women.. I'm not excusing what he did, but something tells. We really look hard and long at what she was.We know what he was and what he became.

Oh my God.. thank you for making this video..I feel like this is the needed for closure to us that lives in the area. It is so tragic... what happened to Naomi 😢❤
Naomi's brother seems to be such a great dude, intelligent, strong and full of compassion. He can rest assured that he did all he could. Keep it up man.
This was such a crazy story!!! My brother just moved out to Fernley Nevada and He just got transfered to that Walmart for a night shift position!!! Working there for only two weeks! His girlfriend worked at the battery company as well! And was aware of her missing work!! My brother even said that the Walmart employees weren't allowed to talk about the incident , it's so crazy.. she was only 18.. In a small town.. Rest in peace
I’m a big brother, can’t imagine how tough this was for Casey trying to advocate for his sister but not being taken seriously. Heartbreaking, I’m sorry for your loss.
I can see why he felt the way he did (after settling for the idea that the cop came up with). As he was literally speaking to someone that is being paid to be helpful, responsible and experienced enough to see and understand what he witnessed on the video. The outcome of his feelings pretty much runs along the lines of what takes place, compliments of disappointment and foolery.
My son is so protective of his sister no matter how many stupid decisions she makes. She’s doing great now for the record but there is definitely something special about a brother’s love for his sister.
It’s because cops are hundreds of thousands of cases of teenagers going “missing”, so they just assume it’s another silly case. This is why my city’s police department changed the policy a long time ago. They will take the report from a family member no matter what, no 24 hour rule, no questions asked.
As a retired police officer.... I'm ashamed of that copper dismissing the brother's concerns. As soon as a complainant states the behaviour is uncharacteristic of the missing person, you (at least) take a report.
Why do cops not tell you why you’re under arrest or why you’re being detained? It seems like it should be illegal to do that. If anything like that is going on you should be informed as to what is happening.
i believe the sheriffs department only took up the case as aggressively is because a FBI agent called and pushed the matter. If the mom did not call the FBI friend they ( Sheriffs Department) would still be not issuing a missing persons report.
Naomi's brother is one of the sanest people I've heard on any video like this. It's incredibly sad that the police didn't take him seriously straight away. So sorry for the family. RiP Naomi.
She was 18 considered an adult! Not going to be a priority especially it was like 1 day or so that’s how it works! It’s easy to say they didn’t do their job but people disappear All the time especially teenagers
these officers probably get missing reports from teens all the time, where they ended up just running away. they probably ignore them based on what their available resources look like. people with the power of hindsight and no experience will always be outraged though. there are a lot of dumb people who can't reflect on anything in this world
@@jenniferbowie2773the minute that surveillance recording showed someone getting in her car and she wasn’t seen again, it was more than that, and most people know that.

You know heads had to roll in that sheriff’s office after the FBI got involved, especially after learning how high up in government her parents worked!!!
Not all the time tho. Sometimes moms file missing persons reports because they forgot there child had school and they’re like where tf are they. But for this sort of situation yeah that officer should be fired
Stop voting for Republicans bc Mitch McConnell has led keeping Qualified Immunity to protect cops😳☠️. If Dems are the majority in both houses & President they will get rid of Qualified Immunity 😮
The sheriff's deputy who failed to take this report seriously is a disgrace. Even if she is an adult, take the report. If she turns up safely there is no harm.
I find it strange that people fresh out of high school are considered adults, as if turning 18 means anything. Our brains don't even finish developing until our mid 20's.
Yeah, but well-adjusted people think "Wow, what a screwed-up freak," and losers like him think "Goals" Failures with nothing going on take the lazy way, and hurt someone to feel big. Simple as that.
This video is one of my favorites and I would love to see more like it. Seeing the victim be a happy person and the interviews with her family were a great addition to the regular videos with interrogation and investigation
Troy’s girl friend, Zulema, deserves a LOT of credit for being so open and honest about what happened over those days after Naomi’s kidnapping. She must have realized that she and her family were living with a potential killer and by telling everything she knew, she protected herself and her family. Her answers were intelligent, detailed, and organized and must have made the FBI’s job much easier! Well done, Zulema!
i feel like once she saw HIS truck as a suspect in a disappearance, she put it all together. The weird statements, the obsession with killings and killers, the dating site activity, the time away from home, the aimlessly driving around in the early hours, the despondent activity directly after the kidnapping/murder. I bet she realized it, and then got scared. So when he got picked up through his own mistakes, she played ignorant but desperatly wanted to tell investigators she though he did it. That's why she was so 'helpful.' It was the only way she thought she could escape him.
Yes, I was impressed by how intelligent she is and how she was willing to accept the possibility he was guilty. Too often people intentionally close their eyes to overwhelming evidence in these cases. She was like… “I’m going to just tell everything because if he’s innocent it won’t matter but if he’s not…”
@@snowman2834 what do you mean? like buried his ass with evidence which ultimately lead to his conviction? ... or do you mean like a literal burial? I did not hear anything about a burial if you meant that.

I met someone at my job who seemed like a very funny nice and caring person. Later I learned he had some drama between co-workers and I also didn't like the place so we shared experiences and it felt better. He became my mentor as well. As time went on he kept sharing with me about his on-going issues at work, and that some customer reported him because allegedly he made an inappropriate "joke" to another worker and the customer was a witness. He got fired as a result, and I truly felt sorry for him, because knowing him he made inappropriate jokes but they weren't directed at me, and while we were outside of work hours. I was angry at him and told him he made a mistake that ruined his career. Later on he shared with me that his father shot his mother in the head while he was in a car. And that trauma remained with him all his life, and he became an alcoholic as a result. Said he joined a gang group as a teenager and he along with a group of other teenage boys were doing so-called "justice" to women. They were catching all men who beat their wives and beating them (the men). He said they caused them serious injuries. He was in jail. I asked him if he ever killed anyone, and he would never answer. He asked me one time "you're not recording our conversations, are you?" I said "No, why do you have something to hide?" "I can make that phone disappear, you know that, right?" that comment sent shivers down my spine. But he laughed about it, as if this was funny. Finally one evening when we were out for some drinks, he said he did in fact kill someone unintentionally. Then next time I would ask him about it - he would not remember the conversation (or pretend not to remember). His behavior concerned me more and more because he showed up completely inebriated when I met him in public places. I didn't feel safe being in his vehicle for 1st reason - he was probably drinking and driving. And other for all things he already shared. Finally I took a photo of his license plate and also I casually took a photo of him and myself as a "selfie". He said "are you taking this photo as evidence (laugh)"? I said "of course and by the way, if I disappear my phone has a tracker. Everyone would be looking for me, and I always tell my family who I am going out with. I share their name and phone number." (this was a bluff, but later when he contacted me I told him I couldn't see him anymore and that he needs to get help with his addiction). I ended all conversations and blocked him. Luckily he doesn't know where I live, but he knows the area where I live. I'm still a little nervous coming outside, but at least I know he can't get to me. So, listen to your gut, always.
I'm glad Zulema was cooperative and didn't blindly defend a man only because he was her own romantic partner. She was brave enough to allow herself to see the truth when it mattered most, and this probably saved lives.
No wonder america has so much crime if even these elderly have multiple weapons . This country has the highest murder rate of any western country by far ...... its like it is in their DNA .

I've never once understood how "The first 24 hours are the most important" and "We won't file a report until 48 hours" go together. Edited to say thank you so much for the replies! I didn't think this was a hard and fast rule or even the law, just the line we seem to hear over and over. Agreed heartily with everyone who said to report immediately and, if necessary, keep calling / hollering / badgering until you get the answer you need! May none of us ever find out exactly how it goes. ❤💔❤
There is no waiting period to file a missing person report. The minute you think someone is missing, report it! The idea that you must wait 48 hours is actually a common misconception. In reality, there is no mandatory waiting period to report someone missing. This misunderstanding may stem from media portrayals.
There were a few times my sister went missing because of her addiction, just dropped off the radar for a few months. We were told they wouldn’t file a missing persons report for her until at least 72 hours:/ luckily she came home each time
There is no law requiring law enforcement to wait 48 hrs. If you truly believe someone is missing call, report, keep calling, call other agencies, just keep on them. Even post and getting the post to go viral so the mayor sees it! Do whatever you can! Don’t let cops make I wait!
Firstly, I hope Naomi is at peace and Zulema and Naomi's brother and families find peace too. Such a sad and terrible end to such a lovely young girls life truly heartbreaking. Not everyone who studies true crime, serial killers, and criminal psychology have bad intentions. My motivation started when I became a mother to a daughter. As horrific, as all of these crimes are I use the knowledge I gain to protect my daughter, other women I know, and myself. Knowledge is power and by getting a glimpse into the mindset of these depraved sick people I hope to continue to make wise choices to protect those I love hoping to greatly minimise the risks we face every day just by living our lives with people out there who potentially set out to harm us. I'm sure Naomi would smile, knowing her story is helping other women protect themselves just a little more. She deserves to be remembered in a positive light.
My heart....this brother is just an incredible. I'm sure you will never be able to "turn the page" so to speak, but I'm thankful that you were faithful to bring the light even in the darkness of such a terrible situation.

she wanted a bad boy and she got it. Anyone who's spent 15 years in prison isn't exactly someone you should bring home to meet your kids. She got lucky that he didn't kill her kids.
When the police found out that Naomi's father works with the state department,it was suddenly taken seriously. That first deputy must shoulder the majority of the blame for what happened.
The idea that "yeah, it´s a 18yo and can do whatever she/he likes" needs to go out of the window. If a 18yo who normally keeps in touch of her friends and family doesn´t in time when her/his family expects them to, it needs to be investigated.
I agree that it is concerning how lackadaisical the police officer was with Casey's distress, but how many worst case scenarios come from emergency calls from an older brother being concerned about a sibling? Secondly, the issue isn't with their adulthood, it's frankly the opposite, 18 year olds can be incredibly childish and can do REALLY stupid things for no apparent reason.
I totally agree. Before cellphones were available, my mother would worry if my sister didn't call every day, though she was married and lived elsewhere. I lived with my mother, but was always away on long work trips. After 30 days without calling home, I called to let her know I would be back that evening. I had to delay returning home due to work issues, I forgot about the call, and only two days later, my mother called the head office for news about me.
Naomi's brother had that really suspicious footage of that guy getting into Naomi's car and the cop still wasn't ready to take a missing persons report. I thought that was really strange. As for the evil that took her from her family and loved ones well he doesn’t deserve anything but the hell he resides.
That first policeman’s incompetence or laziness is unforgivable. Naomi, you were so loved by your family and I’m so sorry your life was brutally destroyed.
I think it’s unconscionable that an officer would say I’m not gonna file a report because this just looks like a drug deal. So that means that if it looks like a drug deal and someone disappears, then they don’t care the point was that she still was not found even if it was just a drug deal. Obviously something went awry during the drug deal. it’s like the officer was saying well if she was involved in an illegal act that I am assuming then her life isn’t worth me finding out what happened to her or where she is. Just disgusting that’s not a peace officer.
What monster! How is anyone with a record that bad out in the community! Another failure of today’s “justice” system, with disastrous consequences. I’m so sorry for the friends and family for the loss of their precious girl, it never should have happened. 😢
That Sheriff Deputy needs to be fired. I feel so sorry for Naomi's family especially her brother who tried to get the Sheriff's Dept. to take this case seriously. The questions he asked Zulema's stepdaughter about riding the charter bus was he maybe thinking of taking her but then found Naomi first. I'm so glad he can no longer hurt any other young women because he wouldn't have stopped.
With so many cases like this, it still boggles my mind how police can still be slow to act when a person is being reported missing, especially when there's CCTV available. If Naomi's parents didn't know that FBI agent, they'd still be looking for her killer today.
I totally get not filing right away when all you know is "she hasn't shown up today", plenty of likely reasons why that could happen and the person would like to be left alone, HOWEVER nobody gets in a car and drives off that quickly unless they're either not supposed to be in said vehicle, i.e. a kidnapping, or they're being chased by a crowd of zombies. Really surprised me that they brushed off that CCTV incident, nobody gets in a car and drives off like that
I'm impressed by the great police work afterwards: all the footage they collected and watched, the search they did. Such a meticulous job! Interesting how all the pieces fall together in the end. Even the damn tractor.
@EisernRob, are you daft? Cops have INSANELY high budgets and that's why they're building these Cop Cities for millions of dollars. That's why NYPD has a presence in over a dozen COUNTRIES. The police are not here for us. They only exist to protect property and do the government's bidding.

Ikr! Cool perspective!! Good video! Poor girl:(
But it’s also useful to get the perspective from the suspect because it helps us see how someone can live a normal life and appear to be a family man, but be plotting nothing but evil things. It helps us see how cowards plan and plot on how to get victims. It helps us learn and be more aware of certain things we do in our day to day life, that can help us defend ourselves in certain situations.

Out of all these videos I’ve watched I am amazed at the detective work that went into finding this man in the first 25 minutes of the video. Honestly one of the most impressive things I’ve seen.
It took them 3 weeks
@@jodeerochelle3370 Just shows how methodical this guy was. Is it wrong to appreciate the level of puzzle piecing they had to do in order to bring justice to her? This could have easily turned into a cold case under other circumstances.

Im glad zulema was honest but man was she the queen of ignoring red flags
Troy has the face and eyes of a Demon!.
i feel bad for her. she met him on a site meant for cheating and talks so casually about him using the same site to cheat on her. and so nonchalantly describing the suspicious things he’s said and done. i don’t know if she was in denial or blinded by love but yeah, this man is a walking red flag.
He was wearing a mask. Narcissistic psychopath.
@@proctorsledge I don’t feel bad for her at all she put her children in harms way. What kind of mother is she?
she wanted a bad boy and she got it.

It's a shame that it takes a corrupt state departments employees daughter as a victim to get any action......

When the Mom involved her friend from the FBI, this seemed to get the local police off their asses. Naomi's brother is wonderful.
Cops are just generally lazy and don't want their daily routines messed with too much. It's inconvenient for them.
They're lazy af.

What a remarkable family and I know Naomi is so proud of her brother. His instant instinct to take action is truly remarkable and his tenacity to not give up. This is one story that will stay me. It was done very respectfully and just touched my heart. May she rest in heavenly peace. As for the evil that took her from her family and loved ones well he doesn’t deserve anything but the hell he resides.
This brother was more qualified to be a detective/ cop than that "so called cop" who was informed about this.
That first policeman’s incompetence or laziness is unforgivable. Naomi, you were so loved by your family and I’m so sorry your life was brutally destroyed.
It might be unforgivable, but it's also typical... and they aren't asking for forgiveness... they don't care about us.
He's not lazy, he lacks empathy and shouldn't be an officer.
@@saltycat662 Tbh I would imagine a lack of empathy is a positive thing in your resume if you want to be a police officer

Omg! I remember when this happened! Thank you for covering these detials!
The fact that he was let out until he actually murdered someone is scary enough.
Masonic brotherhood wont allow that, & draw attn to the dept? Naw
My thoughts exactly..
What's his name?
He would probably went after Zeliuma’s children.
Really surprised me that they brushed off that CCTV incident, nobody gets in a car and drives off like that
CCTV mean what ❓
