I obviously know who disturbed are and I know the song but I don't know how I have not heard this version. Loving this what do you think?

He was sick on this day. He performed with a fever and felt like crap. Flawless, amazing!
NOW THIS SONG IS COMPLETE! It took decades, two bands, two renditions and David’s relentless haunting beautifully perfected voice to have a perfect song.❤
I've never heard anyone cover a song with such respect, passion, and feeling! It's made me really pay attention to the actual message in the song. Stunning!
Paul Simon apparently heard David sing this rendition and liked it so much that he said David should now own this song. He said this version really hits the emotions he was trying for when he wrote the original version.
No matter how many times I listen to this song, I get the chills. Perfect cover.
David Draiman...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. He has a tone to his voice I've never heard before. When he sings....you know who it is. He can go from angelic head voice to rasp/distortion on a dime and back....not easy to do. Also did you notice he can put vibrato on the rasp too? VERY difficult to do. Love your take on it CJ.
The power of this version is just amazing.
He actually had the flu when he did this. He was upset when he needed auto tune at one part. Absolutely amazing.
Best cover ever. Saw the official music video in 2015, which is epic, and have been a Disturbed fan ever since.
David Draiman was classically trained as a cantor... Once you know that.. You can really pick it up in the absolute control he has over his voice.

The best cover ever! Disturbed really made the message clear..Simon and Garfunkel did not have this effect on me.Maybe I was too Young or I didn't understand the lyrics English not being my language.Thank you for your reaction👍
As is often repeated, the statement goes that Simon and Garfunkel's version gave the warning; Disturbed's expresses the rage that the warning was not heeded. The same lyrics, in very different styles.

Simon and Garfunkels original version was the warning of what was to come if we didn’t change. Disturbed’s version is the rage because we didn’t listen. And it’s my favorite version.
Another side to Disturbed ... "Don't Tell Me," from their album Divisive that dropped a few months ago. It's a bit of a power ballad, but it's a duet with David and Ann Wilson from Heart. I mean ... their voices together are freakin' epic! She's in her early 70s, so her voice has obviously changed from her days as a young rocker, but OMG, is it special! So rich and inviting, but in keeping with her rock goddess status. Love it!

Paul Simon said he wrote this after a dream and the meaning is still argued about.
The video I feel talks of the rediscovery of lost music. One island find the sheet music, the other find the instruments and travel to them...
Paul Simon saw THIS very performance on Conan and loved it.
Poor David was really poorly with a bad cold when he sung it on Conan, so I urge you to watch the official video to hear David in top form and the visuals really add to the music.

Paul Simon wrote some great songs full of poetry and meaning. But the best versions of his songs are done by other singers. Bob Dylan’s cover of “The Boxer”, and David Draiman of Disturbed’s cover of “The Sound of Silence”, come to mind. The grit, emotion, and meaning of Simon’s lyrics were always present in his songs, but not best conveyed by Simon and Garfunkel’s voicals.
I absolutely love both the official music video which has astounding video and the music and voice are crystal clear as you expect from a studio version while I live this live one is just as brilliant as he had to do it live and very sick and it's very rare for a live version to be as good as the studio version.

Better than the original, it gets the message across. I love Hold On To Memories as well. Have you reacted to any Home Free videos? They are my go to singing group, they helped me through the lockdowns, they put out a new video every two weeks even when they were all in different parts of the country and are still giving us Home Fries new music regularly. 🏴

When Simon and Garfunkle did this it was a warning, David's version is anger that we did not heed the warning. See the cover by Puddles, His spin on the song reflects a deep sadness that the warning has come to fruition. 3 versions, each adding a meaning to the original, yet each true to the original composition. And David Draiman has one of the most amazing voices ever.

I’m English from Bath but grew up in somerset and Devon.
"The guitar is far in the back ground" This is the only reason I like the studio version better, the guitar is up front and adds so much to the song, give it a listen. Also has a killer video to go along with the song.
The video of the studio version shows the story exceptionally well but does not have the 20-piece orchestra behind him.

Thanks, I appreciate that yeah I struggle with spots since being an adult never as a child I was told was rosacea so I'm a bit bad with my diet. not supposed to have coffee, or wash in hot water but I'm terrible at keeping to it but I will check that.

That's the version where they also added auto-tune on top of his vocals. He made a better version without any auto-tune on their own channel.

Remember that film that was so good you didn't want it to end, this is the equivalent but a song
I so want to go to a concert or comedy show and see you interrupt the live band or comedian to pause constantly so you can tell everyone around us what your opinions are DURING the show rather than wait and after enjoying the actual experience in full and reacting to it properly and then giving thoughts in parking lot (ie at the end when you can reply or jump to spots that impressed you). Do not fret 99.999999% of the so called REACTION videos do the same thing, which is a total lie because its an analysis video, to properly react it has to be uninterrupted and fresh. Still I do agree with what you said just hope future REACTIONS are treated as such and you react first and then pull it apart after.
Dude you have to pause it or it gets blocked. You can’t simply play the video in one. UA-cam will cancel your channel eventually if you do that. If your not someone who posts regularly yourself you won’t know that. I always hope that if you truly love the performance you will go and watch the original video for yourself. All reactors have to do this.

How can you give a reaction to a song, that you haven't even heard the whole song ?
It's impossible, because you lose the whole emotions and feelings of the song.
You are not allowed to play the whole video from someone els in one go you have to pause or you risk copyright infringements and strikes.
