Goosebumps and tears! Best reaction you could get! S&G's version was a warning that we are growing apart due, in part, to technology and that we need to learn to communicate our feelings and stop relying on material things to appease us. Wake up! Disturbs version is basically rage that we didn’t heed the warning in the 60's and now, 60 years later, we are even more attached to our "neon gods" internet, texts, emails, buried in our cell phones and communicate even more poorly than during the 60's with the civil unrest and the Vietnam war. Television, back then, was the 'neon god' that everyone paid attention to and paid less attention to humanity😢. We just don't get it! I'm 63 and, admittedly, never realized the meaning of the song, but David's delivery of the message really drove it home! I get it and I hope we all can wake up in time! Thank you for your honest and WARM reaction😊❤!
I have played this more than a hundred times by now. Best cover ever! David is one of the best vocalist of our time, in my opinion. He is also a huge champion of mental health (my field of work) awareness. I greatly admire him both as an artist and as a human being.
The amazing voice and vocal control of David Draiman! He can go from baritone to tenor...from sweet to vocal fry in less than a second! One of the best voices on the planet imho. Loved your reaction J
He is voice trained. Such an amazing performance. You should watch his live performance of Sound of Silence on The Late Show with Conan O'Brien. So beautiful and he was ill at the time.
I think Disturbed made this song their own. I heard Paul Simon approved of this rendition. I get goosebumps almost every time I listen to it, it never gets old!
I've listened to this many many times and each time it gives me goosebumps. It is the best-ever cover of one of the best Paul Simon songs. I will go as far as to say it's better than the original.
You can imagine the reaction is from an emotional person such as myself. I saw this hundreds of times and cry every time..I even stop breathing when he begins to “growl.” My daughter turned me on to Disturbed and I’m a huge fan. This song was much different from their usual music so I was pleasantly surprised. David Draiman, IMHO has the best voice in the business but I’m a bit biased. I so appreciate you, that you didn’t interrupt the song. I abhor when they do that! You might want to listen to the live version on the Conan O’Brien show..it’s incredible! David was extremely sick with the flu and had a temp of 104. He also had a cyst on his vocal chords. The man would not cancel but had to sit down to sing. He never uses Autotune but the producers tried to sneak it in. David was flaming mad! They only kept it on for aa minute because he looked at Conan and fried his eyes! 😂 Something I just found out 2 days ago. I was watching him being interviewed and 2 months ago he had a cancer scare. He found a very painful growth in his lower right arm..his ulna. They performed surgery, found a tumor and permed a biopsy. Thank God it was benign! Sorry..didn’t mean to write an encyclopedia!
OMG, the tissues I've 🤧 gone through since I discovered David Draiman and Disturbed performing their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" on April 29, 2024. That day I have to believe my spirit 🙏 guides (out of the blue) first led me to a cover video by Dan Vasc singing "Amazing Grace" which was phenomenal 👏 and then to the cover video of Disturbed and David Draiman singing this most POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL 😂rendition of Simon and Garfunkels "The Sound of Silence". I'm 75 and was 15 when they released one of the most popular classic songs of our time during the 60's. It is amazing how relevant it is today, actually I feel it is even more relevant than ever in so many different ways. I've spent days since listening and seeing, you notice I didn't say viewing, the many channel hosts and each of their reactions and have 😢 almost every time. It's funny that more males have gotten teary-eyed than females, just an observation. Thanks, from Diane
I don’t laugh at humor. I don’t cry at sadness or violence. I worked EMS. Ive been told I’m dead inside. I didn’t react on the outside to Disturbeds version of Sound of Silence… but I I cried inside. It was nice. It made me feel human. So did your reaction.
I was EMS then a nurse and I’m the complete opposite. I’ve always been an empath so I’m sure that’s why. I was hard when I had to be, but never with children. I’m glad the song made you feel, and I don’t like that someone said you were dead inside.
Live version with orchestra on Conan Will definitely raise a Goosebump or two on you. People are looking down not up nor around tech world today is somewhat hindering our lives…it’s all that but it’s a bag of chips NOT
I totally get it. Military and contractor for decades. I completely believe finding something to react to is one path to human-ness. I hope you find more paths. And find more people to help guide you to being a tested and traumatized and real human who can remember that they are, in fact, true humans who have lived in this too often fucked-up world. Best rl 🤘👹🤘
By the way, David Draiman was really sick for the Conan live performance and I heard he was not pleased with his performance, being the perfectionist that he is I can understand why he felt that way. However, the production as a whole was amazing and his performance was EXCEPTIONAL! I loved it. So POWERFUL and EMOTIONAL! Disturbed "The Sound Of Silence" 03/28/16 | CONAN on TBS Team Coco Thanks, Diane
I went down the rabbit hole of Disturb’s music during COVID lockdown in 2020 when I came across it on UA-cam. Love all their music, their heavy metal and nonmetal. The lead singer David Draiman is trained as a Jewish Cantor when he was a young man, as his father and grandfather before him. He chose heavy metal in 1995. Paul Simon endorsed their version when he heard it. This 74 grandma still has her vinyl of Simon and Garfunkel’s 1st album, that includes this song!
@@NoreactionswithJ If you're looking for suggestions, we all need a good laugh. Try Tim Minchin "Prejudice". This talented performer puts the medicine in the candy! Of course, you can't miss with anything by Weird Al. Do "White and Nerdy" LOL!
It seems to resonate with so many people, not just the wording of the song but the audio of his powerful beautiful voice and light but effective music all seems to do something physical to the body and soul and pretty much everyone gets emotional listening to it. Many tear up, many get goosebumps and many just simply cry unashamedly. Its such a rare powerful beautiful performance ive watched well over a thousand times and it still makes me cry every single time.
Nice reaction! You're not cold, you just need the power of a a message and voice like David's to break through that outer shell ❤ If you're looking for an artist to react to, perhaps going down the Aurora rabbit hole could be fun. She's quirky but has the voice of an angel and all her songs have deep meaning for her and her "warriors". If you decide to check her out, I'd suggest starting with her performance of Runaway at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert then move on to Murder Song 54321 at the same venue. She's a musical genius as well, having started writing music at age 11 (she's 19 at the noted concert in 2015). Good luck on your channel, I'll suib to help out!
Listened to this song for 50 years without ever understanding the message, David made me listen and get the meaning. I will say, to me, it's better than the original because the message is dark and foreboding - Paul & Art sang it like a folk song. Taking nothing away from the writing, that is still masterful, but this brought tears to my eyes and that never happened with the original.
I am so with you on this one. I am 62 and grew up with this song but only when I heard Disturbed´s version, a couple of years ago, did I get the message. I must have listened to this hundreds of times and I still get goose bumps

Absolutely love this rendition. And it's always funny watching reactions to the video. Almost every time, people are like "Is the sound on? Oh, there it is." Then...wow.
This is a powerful song and with the video, the emotions surface. I've been a Disturbed fan for a very long time. I am very happy that you let the song play through without stopping every 10 seconds. I liked and subscribed. Looking forward to more.
Agreed. I think S&G's lilting folk style version was intended to be IRONIC. Then Pentatonix did it with Great Skill and Beauty. (Everything they do is amazing.) But this... THIS... David's version, DISTURB's version.... Absolutely EPIC. This version declares WAR on silence -- the silence that alienates us from one another -- the silence that keeps people divided and steals our joy, our love, our lives. THIS version, is THE version that expresses the TRUTH of the song.
It is a very powerful rendition . . Your friend chose well . . Maybe youd like to do a reaction to a band called The Warning . . 3 sisters from Mexico. . . Thier cover of Enter Sandman when the youngest was 9 has had over 25million views. . . And have since done a cover of it for the black album aniversary . . Those or any of thier song would be good especially from the Teatro Metropolitan concerts . . . . Hi from New Zealand . . ⛄️👍
This gives me chills every time I hear it. Definitely brought the song home in a way the original did not (and the original was good, but this one was stunning.) The imagery in the video is also excellent. I did see a version where he did it live without the video support, and it was equally as powerful. It is like he has a voice that was just made for this specific song.
@@NoreactionswithJ I can barely sing on key. I just pick out the parts of songs where I know I won't wind up scaring the neighbors and sing those parts out loud. The rest of the songs, I just hum to myself quietly. I always like those vocalists that know how to put a bit of grit in their voice - especially in rock songs. The last big live performance I saw was Guns 'n' Roses back before Axl kind of ruined his vocal chords. It was a pretty spectacular show. Would love to have seen AC/DC live, but never had the chance and now big concerts like that are just way too expensive.
Diana Ankudinova, as she grew up - Reshenka, Wicked Game (Chris Isaac), Can't Help Falling in Love (Elvis) as she sang in contests. She was like 12, 14, and 18 years old respectively, finally, in The Crow the young woman is there.
I really loved your reaction. No stopping and starting. Every time I watch this video I still get the goosebumps. I’ve seen a lot of the reactions where the stop every few seconds or so. It really is annoying. Thank you.
I saw your goosebumps from here. Lol I get them everytime! I appreciate your playi g it through and still letting us see how it hit you. I bet 70% of the reviewers visibly show you they have goosebumps or tears, i get both. 😢❤
I have now watched somewhere around 100 reaction videos to this song from vocal coaches, composers, song writers, opera singers and many more... The near universal Stunned Silence followed by a "wow, I was not expecting that" is quite a testament to the skill and range of David Draiman. You should also check out the Live version done on the Conan Show. As powerful and stunning as the studio version is, the live performance is considered by many to be even better.
Songs with the same sort of power. Hurt by Johnny Cash, Believe by Brooks & Dunn and Floor Jansen's version of Lady Gaga's Shallow live on Beste Zangers. You will never regret listening to any of these.
If you like this, watch the live version on Conan. You get a real feeling of how good the song is, without the distraction that the studio version has with some of it's visuals, and also, how excellent David Draiman's voice is, singing multi octaves with little or no effort. Kudos to Paul Simon who wrote magnificent songs at the age of 20. Words that sound even better, and more meaningful some 60 years later.
Another unbelievable voice in these world - please react to Dimash Kudaibergen singing "Ogni Pietra" ( OLYMPICO) from the Arnau Concert on his own channel. This guy has an 6 octave range and he is trained since the age of 5 years old. Never heard a voice like that. It's mind blowing. Hope you enjoy it and wish you all the best from Germany 🇩🇪 Petra
I would really love to see you react to James Blunt's song Monsters. A bit of a back story about this song is that when James Blunt wrote it and made the video, his father was in stage 4 liver failure. He wrote this song for his dad. It is a definite "Must" for your reaction list. But, Do Not peek at even a portion of this video until you react to it for the first time.
Has to be some supernatural or divine input into that song too withdraw such emotions from me and everybody I know who's looked at it multiple times cry every time
Hey there, always glad to see someone new checking out some cool music! Disturbed’s version is very different from the original, and I absolutely love it, especially seeing as I heard this version before the original :‘D So, I got some suggestions for artist you should definitely check out if you don’t know them yet. They are all artist I listen to, and are a completely different style than disturbed, or the sound of silence. So anyways, here’s my list of great artists to check out: Aurora - Runaway (official music video) - All Is Soft Inside (Live ob KEXP) I just love her as an artist as well as a genuine and kind human being. She is also generally better live, but you should check out runaways music video too, it isn’t her most viewed one for no reason. If you enjoy her music I’d be happy to give you more suggestions! Wardruna - Lyfjaberg (official music video) - Kvitravn (official music video) - Wardruna ft. Aurora Helvegen - Live So, old Norse folk music reimagined. As we don’t have a lot of actual music handed down from that age they made it their goal to reenact what could have been the peoples music in those times. As their texts are usually not in English, feel free to activate the English subtitles or pull up the lyrics elsewhere, as the songs meanings go even further and deeper than the music makes you feel on its own already. Heilung - LIFA - Krigsgaldr LIVE - LIFA - In Maidjan LIVE - Anoana [Official Video] If you liked the folk and traditional feeling of Wardruna, and are ready to be entranced, get this going. You can look up the lyrics after the reaction if you’d like to. Now to some lesser known artists that are also up that alley (if you can call it that, their up my alley anyways) Kalandra - Brave New World (Live at Kulturkirken Jakob) - Borders (Official Music Video) They are far too small for the amazing music they make imo, but judge for yourself. If you like them, they also have a great cover of Wardruna‘s song Helvegen, amongst other great music of their own. Eivør - Trøllabundin (Live Version from the 10.08.13) - Falling Free (Live at the Old Theater in Thorshavn) She has an amazing voice and stunning range, and her music is so relaxing and soothing yet makes me wanna dance every time! Ok so, I‘m gonna cut it here for now, as I said, I’d be glad to recommend more of their work and other artists as well if you happen to enjoy this music as much as I do!
I do not call this a cover song. It is an experience and stands on its own merit. Still giving kudos to Paul Simon but Cover or not. Doesnt matter, It is its own power and emotion. If you don't get chills, or emotional or tears then there is something seriously wrong with you. Your reaction shows you got it!! So glad
I hadn't heard of disturbed perse, (realised other day is a song had heard before this) I cried and at end went "holy fuckballs" and now i am addicted to watching reaction videos of this song, and crying and having different "thought imagery"(i have aphantasia) every time , the original I listened to AFTER this and like "words, music voice do NOT at all go, david and disturbed's version is perfection and an "gut punch", as a rule i'm an "internal storer of emotion" this song I think should get anyone not sociopathic
If you want the more emotionally evocative version, the live performance on the Conan O'Brien Show was stunning. Just two lines into the song all of Conan's backstage crew came out to the wings to watch as they knew something special was happening, David Draiman was even sick that day and was uncertain about his ability to perform, but many think he did it better than this music video version. Certainly the audience was enthralled.
I love this cover. It's so moving and the message is very clear. I would love if you did a reaction to Heilung | LIFA - Krigsgaldr LIVE version. I hope you will be moved by it!
If you got the chops and like a bit of rock and roll go find anything from AC/DC’s 3 nights in a row concerts at River Plate in Argentina in Dec of 2009. You won’t be disappointed!!!!! After all the lads are best tasted live in my humble opinion!!!!!!!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!!! 😍😍😍🎸🎸🎸🤩😎🍸
Dude... grew up with AC/DC! Love them! Live at Caste Donington, England, August 17, 1991. Fantastic! Love watching people who hears "Thunderstruck" for the first time. Everybody loves it. :D
I would like to see your reaction to "Cry" or "Victory" or any other composition by Thomas Bergersen. Music is performed by the orchestra "Two Steps From Hell" with vocals by Merethe Soltvedt. TY hope you are well.
Quelqu'un pourrait m'expliquer les paroles de cette belle chanson. J'adore et j'aimerais savoir de quoi parole cette belle chanson..s'il vous plaît..merci J'oubliais je suis français et je ne comprends pas l'anglais.
So Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt (originally by Nine Inch Nails) will leave you crying. and For something Different I suggest Baby Metal Chocolate ( so confusing LOL) and then Pa Pa Ya by Baby Metal is so much fun you'll be dancing in your seat!
Hi John, Just love Distubed's verson of Sound of Silence. As rebelbabeconner9064 mentioned, A Reason to Fight is a great one, and Hold on to Memories as well. But, have you heard any Sabaton songs? I can recommend Christmas Truce, and listen to the lyrics as well as look at the video. Joachim has both a great voice and is a great song writer, and they will go very far to get their texts historical correct. They also have their own history channel!
New viewer.. Great Reaction.. I have a few suggestions.. Electric Callboy - Hypa Hypa ( if u need to smile ) Falling in Reverse - Popular Monster ( to be rocked ) Tom Macdonald - People so Stupid ( to hear facts ) Jinjer - Pisces - ( to be blown away)
After hearing Disturbeds version on Conan, Paul Simon sent David Draiman and email and told him that this song is his now. S&G were warning people about what was coming... this version is the rage we feel now that S&G's warning was not heeded. This song, no matter which version or how may times I hear it, still gives me goosebumps. His voice, the lyrics (which you are forced to listen too, unlike in the original), the build... the climax, the entire performance... you can't say enough about it...
He never told him this is his song. It's an internet myth. You are confusing this with Hurt by Johnny Cash in which the song writer did tell him it's his song now. Paul Simon just said he enjoyed it.
It’s absolutely phenomenal
Got chills with this version. Wow didn't expect that!!
I know right,,I was silenced,,but now this up lifts me,,I listen every night
Loved it. I listen everyday
If this track/video isn't perfection, then I don't know what is. Masterpiece.

The last big live performance I saw was Guns 'n' Roses back before Axl kind of ruined his vocal chords. It was a pretty spectacular show. Would love to have seen AC/DC live, but never had the chance and now big concerts like that are just way too expensive.
Try out... Heart - Stairway to Heaven Led Zeppelin - Kennedy Center Honors HD.... very memorable! 😃👍
Its ok to have your soul stirred 🎼🎧🙂
Absolutely! :)
This brings out true emotions.
Beatiful I Love
♥️🌹♥️🌹♥️🌹♥️
Diana Ankudinova, as she grew up - Reshenka, Wicked Game (Chris Isaac), Can't Help Falling in Love (Elvis) as she sang in contests. She was like 12, 14, and 18 years old respectively, finally, in The Crow the young woman is there.
Evanescence - My Immortal
It’s a powerful amazing experience 💙
I love these reactions, Stunned silence.
Another good example of stunned silence: look up (on UA-cam) Brian Jason Crum singing Creep by Radiohead on America's Got Talent. It's incredible.
This version is the best
Disturbed and David own this song.❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Love this song. ❤
I really loved your reaction. No stopping and starting. Every time I watch this video I still get the goosebumps. I’ve seen a lot of the reactions where the stop every few seconds or so. It really is annoying. Thank you.
You are very welcome. It is annoying when they stop the video. :)
You have a new subscriber 👍
I saw your goosebumps from here. Lol
I get them everytime! I appreciate your playi g it through and still letting us see how it hit you. I bet 70% of the reviewers visibly show you they have goosebumps or tears, i get both. 😢❤
I feel this version deeply
Yeah, this was incredible!
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤
Yes tingles,, emotional
Love your reaction! ❤️🎼❤️🎼
good
It's do powerful. I recommend 'The Light' and 'Hold on to Memories' also by Disturbed for more emotional videos.
Several have recommended that one. Sounds like a plan. :)
Thank you for playing the video without pausing. Pentatonix also does this cover. You might consider that one next..
Love the way you listened and reacted.
Good reaction. I liked it.
sup dood love yer vibe, no really, like your style and vibe great reaction
Thanks, dude! Glad you enjoyed. :D
Words that sound even better, and more meaningful some 60 years later.
idem retournée!!
Love this emotional song❤
Good Reaction👋🎼🎵🙏
Hope you enjoyed the ride! You were in the vortex for a while.
There were some second there where I forgot I was making a video. haha.
I might check it out. Thank you for the suggestion. And same to you from Norway. :) Danke, danke!
Haha, I have to remember it, and not to peek. Will be careful when I download it for the reaction video. :)
Minor correction - kidney and not liver illness. :)
Should listen to Dan Vasc sing Amazing Grace excellent.❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Nice reaction.
Has to be some supernatural or divine input into that song too withdraw such emotions from me and everybody I know who's looked at it multiple times cry every time
Hey there, always glad to see someone new checking out some cool music!
Disturbed’s version is very different from the original, and I absolutely love it, especially seeing as I heard this version before the original :‘D
So, I got some suggestions for artist you should definitely check out if you don’t know them yet.
They are all artist I listen to, and are a completely different style than disturbed, or the sound of silence.
So anyways, here’s my list of great artists to check out:
Aurora
- Runaway (official music video)
- All Is Soft Inside (Live ob KEXP)
I just love her as an artist as well as a genuine and kind human being. She is also generally better live, but you should check out runaways music video too, it isn’t her most viewed one for no reason.
If you enjoy her music I’d be happy to give you more suggestions!
Wardruna
- Lyfjaberg (official music video)
- Kvitravn (official music video)
- Wardruna ft. Aurora Helvegen - Live
So, old Norse folk music reimagined.
Heilung
- LIFA - Krigsgaldr LIVE
- LIFA - In Maidjan LIVE
- Anoana [Official Video]
If you liked the folk and traditional feeling of Wardruna, and are ready to be entranced, get this going. You can look up the lyrics after the reaction if you’d like to.
Now to some lesser known artists that are also up that alley (if you can call it that, their up my alley anyways)
Kalandra
- Brave New World (Live at Kulturkirken Jakob)
- Borders (Official Music Video)
They are far too small for the amazing music they make imo, but judge for yourself.
If you like them, they also have a great cover of Wardruna‘s song Helvegen, amongst other great music of their own.
Eivør
- Trøllabundin (Live Version from the 10.08.13)
- Falling Free (Live at the Old Theater in Thorshavn)
She has an amazing voice and stunning range, and her music is so relaxing and soothing yet makes me wanna dance every time!
Ok so, I‘m gonna cut it here for now, as I said, I’d be glad to recommend more of their work and other artists as well if you happen to enjoy this music as much as I do!
Also these aren’t songs to laugh, but some of them really hit me hard right into the feels every time I listen to them…
Dude, thanks. I will be checking this out, for sure. Thank you again for the comments. :)
Love this song- I would recommend checking out Johnny Cash singing "Hurt". 👍👍👍
I love this cover. It's so moving and the message is very clear. I would love if you did a reaction to Heilung | LIFA - Krigsgaldr LIVE version. I hope you will be moved by it!
Love.song
@@NoreactionswithJ Sweetness!!! Good to know you appreciate good old rock an roll!!!!🤩🤩🍸
I would like to see your reaction to "Cry" or "Victory" or any other composition by Thomas Bergersen. Music is performed by the orchestra "Two Steps From Hell" with vocals by Merethe Soltvedt. TY hope you are well.
Highly recomend checking out everything Tommy Johanson and Sabaton.
Wow is easy to say.
It sure was/is! :)
You should do The Light by them as well. The Official Video
Pentatonics does a good version also but this is the best version by far😊
I have to check it out, thanks. :)
Quelqu'un pourrait m'expliquer les paroles de cette belle chanson. J'adore et j'aimerais savoir de quoi parole cette belle chanson..s'il vous plaît..merci
J'oubliais je suis français et je ne comprends pas l'anglais.
You should do their song Hold on to Memories
I have actually heard that one. :)
Hi John,
Just love Distubed's verson of Sound of Silence.
❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
New viewer..
Great Reaction..
I have a few suggestions..
Electric Callboy - Hypa Hypa ( if u need to smile )
Falling in Reverse - Popular Monster ( to be rocked )
Tom Macdonald - People so Stupid ( to hear facts )
Jinjer - Pisces - ( to be blown away)
Everyone reacts to the same songs so I have a suggestion for you. Takida - Curly Sue.
Great song.
Try to their song Inside the Fire. I bet you will react to that too.
You said at the start, "something wrong with the sound"? Pop quiz, what's the name of the song?
It's funny half of the reactors get confused at the start. The title is The Sound of Silence, and it opens with...SILENCE.
7 years by Sully Erna. I'd love to see how it hits you.
