Just a heads up, There’s a mod of SVR 2006 that was made to mimic HCTP, but was more of a wrestling game wheee you could crawl to the ropes. You might want to watch a “match” on PS2 with, rolling, flipping, generic reversals, long canned animations that couldn’t be interrupted such as the people’s elbow. There was a lack of wrestling structure in the ring in HCTP. I feel like if 2K gave a wrestling game that was HCTP gameplay it would be laughed away bc it’s as deep as an inflatable pool for toddlers. Submissions in HCTP were basically a move on a loop 3 times over. It’s easy to get these game confused especially with mods & I’m not trying to be argumentative or a d*ck, just wanted to inform you about what is considered the holy grail of wrestling games, wasn’t much of one.
It’s why I feel that it’s everything that you can do outside the ring, using forklifts & motorcycles, modes & matches that people tend to talk about as opposed to matches if you can call them that. I feel like you can still have a realistic (sim) wrestling that is fun, but give the freedom of HCTP/SVR outside interactions, environments, climbing the areas, matches, etc. & some basic options like speed, stamina, selling, etc to make it as Arcady or as realistic as you like is the sweet spot, imho.
There is so much that 2K could learn and implement from Here Comes the Pain, unfortunately I just don’t think that’s their priority anymore. I’d really would like to see how much money they pull in from My Faction. It must be enough if they continue to push that mode while leaving the main game in the condition that they do.

8 wrestlers at 1 time makes for a pretty odd lumberjack match, imho. I guess 1 on 1 no ref 2 on the hard camera. To me, I would rather they use strike or grapple based fight system if they stick to these ridiculous combos & body damage animations to start. We each have our priorities.
I love how you talk about the interference option. One other thing is the tag team option to manually call your partner in and what not.
I’m surprised they haven’t changed up the interference option in the last few years it would be so much more fun
I was hoping that superstar mode in universe mode would be something close to HCTP season mode. Where they had ppv specific feuds for your character to go through so it didn't feel so tedious
Since 2K22, 2K added something new to Universe Mode.
2k22 had Superstar Mode, while 2k23 had Rivalry Action Selection.
Are these groundbreaking new features? Especially for the 2k22 one, arguably they're not.
However, it kinda gives me comfort that 2k at least does something to the mode...though I expect a huge overhaul TBH.

I just want to be able to take any wrestler into story mode. I don’t care if it’s the same story. I hate having to create a wrestler
I know same , just let me pick both lol. I know they’d say well we have the showcase mode but I just like picking anyone on the roster
Don’t get me wrong, I prefer a simulation style wrestling game. I like my wrestling games to feel like real sport games. That being said, Shut Your Mouth, Here Comes The Pain, and Know Your Role are my favorites in the series. Borrowing ideas from there season mode to use in Universe mode would be interesting.

This might sound crazy but I think these wishlist/what we want to see added/changed videos are made too late, realistically they should be made 1-3 months after the next game releases because then if anyone from 2K/Visual Concepts seen it they would now have more time to implement stuff that the community wants rather than only 3 months where the majority of the game is most likely already done and they don't have plans to add anything new because of the stage of development the game is in
No we've been telling these people for about 10 years ago what we want and still haven't gotten it.
Here comes the pain 2 would be a breath of fresh air!

HCTP had an amazing roster. sadly, Hogan, Hall, and Jeff Hardy missed that cut. but still a solid roster.
There’s so much 2K could learn from all of the wrestling games and take bits and pieces from them and make it into their own. But then again that’s gonna be years from now until they make major changes.
Matt! The way WWE can make the greatest wrestling game is so simple. Take AEW Fight Forevers engine, and give it the match types, game modes, player base, and creation suite WWE has. (Cross play as well) Maybe make the campaign better. But overall I'd be happy with 2k17 with the engine of Fight Forever. (Fix leg sweep and a few other broken moves for Online.)
i remember when Batista and JBL faced each other at the taxes bull match 18 years ago. it was one of the best matches they ever in 2007.
My favorite moment of HCTP is after the match you had options to do after the match like be respectful or just be a bad guy
@Assemble even though there are some ideas for hctp that can work really well but I feel like if they took some ideas from svr 06 svr 2011 and wwe2k14 would be the other games to make the ultimate Wwe game experience having the weapon physics from svr 2011 svr06 for gm side of things 2k14 create a story mixed with wwe12 universe mode would be the ultimate 2k wrestling game experience then 2k can just improve upon those ideas if they were able to then 2k should be looked at in a way more favorable light
I’d add DOR 2 & ASPW 3, but yes go full buffet. I think realistic wrestling in the match but the off the wall interactions & environments outside of the ring with basic options for sim or arcade. The gameplay of HCTP was a hot mess. Assemble at times is showing things from a SVR 2006 HCTP mod bc there was no submission system just the move on a loop & then release or tap.
ASPW 3 transitions of submissions Abdominal stretch into an octopus & realistic technical reversals in submissions like abdominal stretch into an abdominal stretch or reversing a figure 4 & it applies pressure to the opponent not just the animation for it & then release.
DOR 2 WD, stamina tied to submissions, strikes caught & reversed into other strike or grapple just to name a few. I believe The love is for the match types, insane environmental interactions & awesome season mode.
We also need create a story in WWE 2k24, It's long overdue. And mixed with SYM-SvR 2007 gameplay mechanics.
Couldn't they tie in Create-A-Story with Universe Mode?
2k needs a lot of work. Stop having 10 renders of the same wrestler and have different attires of that wrestler, get rid of my faction cause it sucks and replace it with create a finisher and road to wrestlemania.give us custom entrances from the attitude era.

Best wrestling games since my middle school/high school games. Now in my 30s I got my first 2k wrestling game in 2018 and its was so complicated to use(on Xbox).
Feel like they really need to update the mechanics of the hell in a cell, cage matches and elimination chamber like why do I have to spear someone through the glass and lay there till they get up? And they have the same animations for going through the cell and off the cell it seems since they introduced the modes

HCTP was on a different level.
This is all good for 2k to consider but I'd like for them to make factions in Universe mode more of a thing instead of them being NPCs around the ring. Make the Judgment Day, the Bloodline & other created factions presence felt. Stare downs, retreats, fighting on the inside and outside of the ring. When they all have the titles, that should be mentioned too. Mentioning & having cut scenes of wrestlers joining or defecting from the faction.
No Way Out 2001 Stone Cold vs HHH 3 Stages of Hell. One of my favorite matches of all time. Would love to see it in the next 2K game.

then you were also able to drag away from the ropes why isnt that a thing in 2k like the earlier games nailed because the passion was there i dont think 2k truly has the passion for the series to include these small little things like the dragging and manual things
That's all I've ever been saying, make the game more like HCTP with todays graphics and roster and most importantly the creation suite, now that would be the greatest wwe game ever
The Ruthless Aggression games gave you a vibe of that era, when I play 2k games the classic arenas don't give me that vibe maybe its the lighting
Speaking of MyRise and Myfaction, imagine being able to build up an evo card of your custom superstars (1 male and 1 female) through MyRise that you can then use in MyFaction. It would use your first 2 primary MyRise saves for each gender as the base for the appearance and moveset of the cards. You could delete the save and replay MyRise to make a new card (giving up the existing card in the process). You could start at bronze with your choice of 1 lowest tier badge and each evolution you get the option to add and upgrade 1existing badge each, with a selection of stat increases for each evolution as well, all the way up to pink diamond. Maybe the card is acquired through completing MyRise, but upgraded through challenges in other modes to sort of soft gate the evolutions so you don't have a pink diamond card on day 1 (playing at least 1 match a show for 1 full year in universe mode, showcase mode completion, weekly towers up to a certain week, # of live events, # of MyFaction team wins, and # of cards collected for example).
Seeing as we now have the ability to edit Superstar's costumes, it wouldn't be too difficult for them to include a Special Guest Referee mode as they'd just need to stick a referee shirt on the base model. then have that Superstar instead of the usual referee associated with that arena.
If HCTP has universe mode and create story designer, it'll be the boom like rockstar game level.
A little bit of HCTP, a dash of No Marcy and a sprinkling of the modern era.
I forgot just how much HHH looked like Val Venis in this game lol.
All I want is the My Rise roster to be playable in exhibition matches and Universe mode...
What I want from WWE 2K24 is the following
1) CPU stop constantly reversing my moves (particularly signatures and finishers)
2) CPU stops constantly throwing my out of the ring in Ladder matches
3) Allow me to get up faster after being hit by minor moves
4) The referee stops being out of position when I’m pinning my opponent and they count faster
5) Stop having me land near the ropes after hitting finishers
6) In tag team matches either my opponents partner needs to stop constantly breaking up my pinfalls or there should be a rule where if my opponent’s partner breaks up the pinfall five times it’s a disqualification.
The problem I have with modern 2k games is why can’t you have the option to use the d-pad to move your wrestler instead of the damn analog stick??
I guess cause the d pad is already used for taunting
omg, never played SD HCTP, but the amount of matches that you showed that game had in them makes 23 look depressing! I wish we had Championship Scramble at least.

I been a fan a of wrestling since be no mercy and beyond. But what's making me change my mind about games nowadays is the fact the dev keep taking things out. The games from years past should be getting better not going backwards. Its seems like we had more the games in the 90s n early 2000s but to keep taking little enhancements out of games it really amaze me how people can buy the games for more and ultimately get less and less to play. Sorry for the rant
HCTP is just like many other old video games simple and easy to play and navigate, that's why people to this day LOVE it.
It's not rose tinted glasses or anything. It literally these two things. Simple and Fun, that's what makes a good video game.
It's also not as arcade as so many people say. Yes it's quick and yes you have background music, but you can tell that the producers actually know how WRESTLING WORKS and the crawling towards the rope is just one example...
Unfortunately just like EA, just like other companies, 2K only cares about Money, and that's it.
One thing I hate about the new submission system is that when the oppenent breaks out.. they just instantly break out.. no struggle.. nothing.. just grab your arm and move it 😂 the entire submission process should be a struggle!
Hey Matt your Canada guy haha with AEW upcoming CA tour how close are all the shows apart from each other.. they have bad attendance issues at the moment but I remember last time they did a Canada tour it got bad because was only going 50k or 1hr and half down the road
Also I would love A HCTP remastered just do a mix of all-stars where you mixed the current roster with older or legends
Loved this game. But my absolute favourite will always be (might be the first or second can't remember) smackdown vs raw, gm mode. In game challenges, fun story, lots of characters, good match types. Great soundtrack that you could use for entrances as well. Always loved it... or them? Haha
I have never played my rise cause never really interested in playing as a CAW and never play my faction, and only do the showcase to unlock the stuff but don’t really care for either of those modes, I go straight to universe until I get bored, wish they could just make universe mode feel like a real season of wwe instead of continuous modes with some added cut scenes
My favourite wrestling games growing up were Smackdown Here Comes The Pain & Smackdown Vs Raw & Smackdown Vs Raw 2008.

I know what would beat Here Comes the Pain. VR, you could have the wrestlers in your lounge room or, maybe, the bedroom, actually interact with Nikitta Lyons and Bayley, or create Paige, or anyone you like, give them interesting moves that they'll actually use on you using some type of hard light tech. Special moves you modded in.
Yeah, that still won't beat the lack of voices, no face or logo import, no online so having to painstakingly create everything, and backstage cut scenes you can't win.
Its simple. Add in all the old match types & then just patch back in the environment & weapon physics 🤷🏿♂️
They really need to focus on online on the next game. Because you can barely play a match without it disconnecting u from the match mid match. Or the beginning of the match
I need a spin off of wwe 2k of HCTP version.The impact of the moves,no random suplexes after reversals,signature moves to groggy opponents (in SD! SYM)shorter animations.And I want they to add in Special Submission actually part of the finisher where players easily storing finisher during the match.And rid off the body parts damage on arms and legs.The moves to attack them are limited and repetitive to wear them down especially ankle lock and armbar part of their finisher.And doing variety of OMG moment replace the Signature moves bar.
WWE needs to build competition for 2K... A remaster of the game would be great by YUKES but since they aren't available they could easily find someone else to build it from scratch

You had me up until you said you like the new controls from 2k22 and 23 over the controls from the “old” games like 2k19. I’m sorry, but that’s a major L in my book. The older games had better and more simpler controls. I don’t see how you like pressing 3 buttons to do a finisher compared to 1 button is bananas to me. Even preforming a finisher in AEW fight forever is simple and to the point.

15 year old games should not be more immersive and customizable than a game in 2023

2k needs to ditch my faction or make it so you can import my factions cards to the main game modes , but they should just use that free space to add stuff like cgi during entrance and cameramen during matches

me personally i hate the new submission & reversal systems...i have 2k22 i dont play it no more i aint buy 2k23...
so what i did was went & got 2k20 for my series x it plays smooth on there to.gameplay wise no glithes & bugs.i love 20s gameplay.i have the other ones incuding 2k20 & 2k19 on ps4..i rather play older wrestling games they took out all good things that previous games had like crowd fighting.. & many other features that games like here comes the pain had.i dont care to but any future wwe games 2k dont know what they are doing..yukes made the best wwe games & thq

People can keep ignoring this game all they want I'm still the only 1 I know that year by year buys the new wwe game once I'm done playing it in its HOT release I go back and replay Shut your Mouth and here comes the pain the reply value will never die in those 2 games in my opinion and let's be honest if they did give a remastered version of those 2 games the new games would not be getting much love say what you want if you havnt played those 2 you have completely missed out.

I play these games removing key things from games is bad for business. Think of all the features removed from games since the 2000s, if they were still in the games today merged and blended into game play how much more enjoyable the games would be

I strongly disagree about the controls. The feel is completely off. Everyone feels the same. That is a major L. 19 gameplay is superior. And I disagree about being forced to play Myrise. What is the point of accelerator if it doesn't unlock everything?🤔

I'm going to say that they need to get better with the cheering/booing mix sounds effects for the next game. as the matches go on for at least 10 minutes, it gets less louder as it continues on when the superstars taunt.😂
