THAT SMACKDOWN VS RAW 2006 SOUNDTRACK THOUGH! I loved the music in this game, the 2007 version (the best one in my opinion), 2008 and 2009 (which was probably the worst soundtrack but had some decent songs on it).
I had some much good childhood memories from playing SVR 06-08, I remember I had a toy World Heavyweight Championship belt I got from Toys R Us that I would always wear while playing them lol.
This is still my favorite wrestling game to date. I remember spending countless hours in the GM mode. This was right around the time when I was watching wrestling religiously and knew almost every stat of every wrestler from both rosters. Damn, good times. Good memories. Good video. :)
Watching this and seeing current condition of wwe2k20 brought tears to my eyes. Games were made with passion before. Now it has taken a large step backward.
I remember given my wrestler that Powerful release German Suplex that makes them land on their head and seeing that in slomo is great sight to see hehe becuz they look and feel helpless on what's coming.
I remember back in the day we used to use batteries to kick out from a pin lol just literally smashing the buttons sliding it with a god damn battery and people using freezing finishers and shit that was fun now its all crap miss svr 10 09 11
Anyone remember the mods and hacks? Freezing your opponent, climbing up the air or leaving the arena so far that the the in ring action was only a small dot on TV and sometimes you had a full black screen in the background and your players in the front if all players left the arena. Or the table glitches where we tried stacking tables up high. Or the different lobbies and in one lobby there were players of community clans. Anyone remember EWA? Or the gamespy thingy in the chat. Trading Caws was also sick. Zurick, Wolfgang JT and how these guys were called. They made the best CAWS back then.
I don’t get why there’s only 2K, Live, and Madden nowadays. There used to be NBA street, NBA Jam, NCAA March Madness, and other variations basketball games and there was NFL Street and a variety of different WWE games now it’s just 2K...
SVR 2006 as a whole will always be so nostalgic to me, but I remembered that Teddy Long storyline before I even watched this video. The culprit behind Teddy getting run over would change depending on your superstars decisions I think. If your superstar was a heel or chose wrong decisions then you would end up being the one who ran him over, otherwise it was somebody else that Teddy pointed to.
Should be reworded as the last game with eddie and chris both as active superstars or eddie and chris both alive. Well eddie died a day before this came out in the US which I always thought was crazy.

I'm amazed at how good this game still looks today and it's 14 years old! The only thing that makes it look old is the 480i resolution. You play this on an emulator in HD or even 4K and it's on par with the WWE 2K games.
@@TheGaara802 Emulators don't "upscale" games. They run the games at native resolutions, much like PC games. So if you're playing PS2 games on the PCSX2 emulator in 4K, it's native 4K. Plus like with PC games, ROMs and ISOs can get graphical mods.

That being said it still lacks a lot to make it one of the best video games. The creation is insane, the matches, the graphics, the gameplay and you can turnoff stamina and reversals. But I believe nostalgia is the reason people like no mercy or hctp and svr 2006-2007. Those were great games and had good wrestlers on it, but why do you guys take a dump on wwe 2k19? Just want to know.
This brings me back to sitting in the spare room with my friend playing SVR 06. We played all the wrestling games up until about SVR 10. We enjoyed SVR 07, 08 and 09 the most. I don't talk to that friend anymore, things just aren't the same now that we're adults. We would still be friends but... they rarely ever asked me to hang out anymore. I wish I could go back to 2006 and just play this game with them again. With no care in the world and a bright future ahead of us. Talking about how the next game will be better and what we would add to the next game. People change and it sucks.

Once women come into play and they get they 1st shot, priorities will change , I was that friend to leave the gang behind because a women , but they understood once it was they time , we still friends til this day an we whip out the ps2 and multi tap to bond and bring back the nostalgia.
07 was terrible that's when they introduce the stamina system and the soundtrack and roster were bad as well. It was honestly the beginning of the end of the SVR series.

The game was so good. The season mode & GM Mode was great. The thing that’s underrated with 05, 06 & 07 is the PPV Mode. Made your own matches sort of like universe mode but only PPV events. The real ones know about Create a PPV mode.
I still play this on my psp at work , fantastic game. Controls can be a bit confusing though. How the hell do you focus on someone else in a triple threat match for example?

You want to attack randy orton but you’re facing triple h. Then he RKOs you because you didn’t know how to switch lol

SVR 06 and 07 had basically the best soundtracks I’ve ever listened to. It was a different vibe to play with your brother/friends with PS2 controllers that were wired up 😂. Just the best.
I had the multiplayer adapters so me and my cousins would go crazy playing tlc matches, hell in a cell, elimination chamber etcc...good times no doubt👌
SvR 2006 is the best wwe game ever, barely edging out HCTP. It had a fantastic season mode, Thought some moves look stiff. But it was a blast to play, GM mode was introduced and it was my favorite version of GM mode because of how simplistic it was, Gameplay was perfect, You could also have a great 20, 30 minutes match with the AI. The soundtrack, though not the best. Its still one of my favourites. It also had a deep CAWS. This game captures 2005 so perfectly, This game was the best.
The way you fawn over this game makes me feel I took this game for granted during my childhood. Looking back, I & my cousins had an absolute blast with this game.
@PHILL SHIVELY Day Of Reckoning 1 and 2 were made by THQ and Yuke's, so that's 2K's call since they have the WWE license. Yuke's is now developing their own wrestling game for current gen systems since they no longer work with 2K or WWE as of WWE 2K20. _Maybe_ we might see a spiritual successor to Day Of Reckoning in the near future (hopefully without the awful stamina meter from the second one).
Had this on my PSP when I was young and stayed up late all during Christmas break playing this game so much. My PSP literally stopped working because I played this and SvR 07 so much
It was really unfortunate with the roster in 2006 that some of the wrestlers left before they could register them. No Dudley Brothers just Spike. No Matt Hardy since he left only briefly and Jeff would only return late in 2006 after the game was released. There were a lot more but a lot of terrible mid carders in that year. Maybe 2008 had a worse roster? No sure.
@@KM-lc6hj Yeah. That kinda bummed me out because RVD is my favorite. In HCTP he has 9.5 Speed, the minimum requirement for you to be able to jump onto the turnbuckle instead of climbing it.

Looking back at actual footage of HHH i realized how much the games influenced my perception of him I used to think he was super strong, jacked to hell, and one of the best wrestlers but in reality he wasn't that great
My favorite song in this game is Unretrofied by The Dillinger Escape Plan. Whenever that song plays I'd listen to it. The music used in it is ominous and weirdly enough it fits the game. But of course SVR2006 is a load of good songs like Pieces (Dark New Day),Start a War (Static X),Still waiting (Not Forgotten),The Broken (Fireball Ministry) and many more. This game still has great graphics to this day and the Season mode is awesome. GM mode I didn't know what to do with it. The Stiama in this game is Satanic,it drains too quickly and it takes forever and a day to refill.
One thing I love about this game is the characters look so real like they do in real life like triple H, HBK, Eddie Guerrero, undertaker and so many more

The storylines of WWE games back then predicted some of the storylines to come in WWE. (SvR 10’s Legacy triple threat, SvR 11’s Christian World Title win [not the same way tho])
You forgot to mention if you had SVR06 for both PSP and PS2 you could create a character on PS2 and transfer it over to PSP. Surprisingly you could only do this for 06 and no games after.
Some things I disliked in this game besides the stamina meter are the sound effects. Certain hits sound like slaps even though they aren't, especially compared to SVR05. Just not as satisfying. And fighting a dirty AI is just annoying b/c they keep going out of the ring way too much, and sometimes get themselves disqualified on purpose. But the title belts are definitely my favorite additions in exhibition mode.
The story modes in SvR 2006 and 2007 were ok, but I couldn’t replay them over and over and over like Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes the Pain. GM mode gave these games so much replay value. I can’t explain the disappointment and disbelief I felt when I popped in SvR 2009 and there was no GM mode.
Going to high school party’s and getting drunk as shit, skating and hanging out with friends without a care, never leaving my house without my iPod, wacking off to cable tv, and playing some good ole smackdown v raw 2006. Man, those were the days
Great video. The PS2 Smackdown games hold up so well today, especially visually and 2006 was peak SvR graphically. This was probably one of the last games where the character models were very accurate and realistic before they started going down the stylized route for next gen. I hope you mention Umaga's god damn six pack when you cover SvR 2007.

This was the last WWE game to use those beautiful HCTP grappling mechanics. Man, for those 3 years, from HCTP - SVR 06', The Smackdown/SVR series had the best pure grappling mechanics of their entire run. It's a shame that they ended after this game, but I'll always be grateful for what we got. 🙏💜

Smackdown vs Raw 2006 was everything a wrestling fan could ask for! Only thing the game was missing was the Money in the Bank match. Besides that that game was insanely perfect!
This was probably my favourite wrestling game of all time. Got it for Christmas back in 05 and played it extensively, online play for this game was an addiction for me.

My favorite of all time is still No Mercy. But I do like SVR'06 more than another common favorite, HCTP. The roster in HCTP better than SVR'06, but exhibition title matches and CAWs in SVR'06 make it slightly superior
One of my favorite memories of this game was the running enziguri attack where the opponent takes a couple seconds to fall down, so me and my friends would all equip that move on our CAW and see how many times we could train it before one of us missed or got interrupted by the other computer

SvR 2006 is the best wwe game ever, barely edging out HCTP. It had a fantastic season mode, Thought some moves look stiff. But it was a blast to play, GM mode was introduced and it was my favorite version of GM mode because of how simplistic it was, Gameplay was perfect, You could also have a great 20, 30 minutes match with the AI. The soundtrack, though not the best. Its still one of my favourites. It also had a deep CAWS. This game captures 2005 so perfectly, This game was the best.
The way you fawn over this game makes me feel I took this game for granted during my childhood. Looking back, I & my cousins had an absolute blast with this game.

@PHILL SHIVELY Day Of Reckoning 1 and 2 were made by THQ and Yuke's, so that's 2K's call since they have the WWE license.
Yuke's is now developing their own wrestling game for current gen systems since they no longer work with 2K or WWE as of WWE 2K20. _Maybe_ we might see a spiritual successor to Day Of Reckoning in the near future (hopefully without the awful stamina meter from the second one).

It was really unfortunate with the roster in 2006 that some of the wrestlers left before they could register them. No Dudley Brothers just Spike. No Matt Hardy since he left only briefly and Jeff would only return late in 2006 after the game was released. There were a lot more but a lot of terrible mid carders in that year. Maybe 2008 had a worse roster? No sure.
My only gripe with this game is they nerfed Rob Van Dam's speed stat to 9 so he can't jump to climb the turnbuckle.

@@KM-lc6hj Yeah. That kinda bummed me out because RVD is my favorite. In HCTP he has 9.5 Speed, the minimum requirement for you to be able to jump onto the turnbuckle instead of climbing it.

I used to think he was super strong, jacked to hell, and one of the best wrestlers but in reality he wasn't that great

My favorite song in this game is Unretrofied by The Dillinger Escape Plan. Whenever that song plays I'd listen to it. The music used in it is ominous and weirdly enough it fits the game.
But of course SVR2006 is a load of good songs like Pieces (Dark New Day),Start a War (Static X),Still waiting (Not Forgotten),The Broken (Fireball Ministry) and many more.
This game still has great graphics to this day and the Season mode is awesome.
GM mode I didn't know what to do with it.
The Stiama in this game is Satanic,it drains too quickly and it takes forever and a day to refill.

The ECW invasion actually predicated the real ECW invasion angle that happened in real life.
The storylines of WWE games back then predicted some of the storylines to come in WWE. (SvR 10’s Legacy triple threat, SvR 11’s Christian World Title win [not the same way tho])

You forgot to mention if you had SVR06 for both PSP and PS2 you could create a character on PS2 and transfer it over to PSP. Surprisingly you could only do this for 06 and no games after.

Some things I disliked in this game besides the stamina meter are the sound effects. Certain hits sound like slaps even though they aren't, especially compared to SVR05. Just not as satisfying. And fighting a dirty AI is just annoying b/c they keep going out of the ring way too much, and sometimes get themselves disqualified on purpose. But the title belts are definitely my favorite additions in exhibition mode.

The story modes in SvR 2006 and 2007 were ok, but I couldn’t replay them over and over and over like Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes the Pain. GM mode gave these games so much replay value. I can’t explain the disappointment and disbelief I felt when I popped in SvR 2009 and there was no GM mode.
Going to high school party’s and getting drunk as shit, skating and hanging out with friends without a care, never leaving my house without my iPod, wacking off to cable tv, and playing some good ole smackdown v raw 2006. Man, those were the days

Great video. The PS2 Smackdown games hold up so well today, especially visually and 2006 was peak SvR graphically. This was probably one of the last games where the character models were very accurate and realistic before they started going down the stylized route for next gen. I hope you mention Umaga's god damn six pack when you cover SvR 2007.

This was the last WWE game to use those beautiful HCTP grappling mechanics. Man, for those 3 years, from HCTP - SVR 06', The Smackdown/SVR series had the best pure grappling mechanics of their entire run. It's a shame that they ended after this game, but I'll always be grateful for what we got. 🙏💜

Smackdown vs Raw 2006 was everything a wrestling fan could ask for! Only thing the game was missing was the Money in the Bank match. Besides that that game was insanely perfect!

My favorite of all time is still No Mercy. But I do like SVR'06 more than another common favorite, HCTP. The roster in HCTP better than SVR'06, but exhibition title matches and CAWs in SVR'06 make it slightly superior

One of my favorite memories of this game was the running enziguri attack where the opponent takes a couple seconds to fall down, so me and my friends would all equip that move on our CAW and see how many times we could train it before one of us missed or got interrupted by the other computer
I played this game so much when I was a kid. To this day its probably my favourite wrestling game, i haven't really played any of the new ones that 2k have been making.
