Having bought The Elite edition of the game at launch, I feel stupid for not waiting until all the DLC was released. Should’ve known they’d bundle all of it together for the same price I paid at launch. Forget the lack of support or content I feel ripped off for sure.

They let nostalgia make this game and it failed because of that. No Mercy is 🔥🔥🔥 for its time but not what we need from a modern wrestling game. Day Of Reckoning brought the no mercy style back perfectly but lacked in other areas. Fight Forever lacks in almost all areas.

I argued from launch N64 ganes were amazing on N64 in 2023 not so much.
The Aki n64 are still the gold standard of wrestling games. You don't need a million modes to be fun. And before people argue with me I literally own almost every wrestling game from 90s onwards including the Japanese exclusives. As much as i like the 2k games they are getting stale.

No Mercy has a good story mode, good features like backstage roaming, random interferences, great weapon selection, bomb roster etc. But I personally feel 2k19 should be the standard for a modern wrestling game. Universe Mode, Goated roster, backstage roaming, more interactivity with the ring and its surroundings, and many other features you would want in a wrestling game. 2k22-2k23 tries to build off of 2k19 but they broke too many things so those games dont feel as good as they should.

Anytime a wrestling company say they will beat the WWE their company is rendered doomed. I guess no one ever learn.
Difference is WCW was beating WWE and was the main wrestling show for some years AEW never had a chance to be competition to WWE they are not even on the level TNA was at their peak

AEW fans were jumping on the 2k games for releasing the same gale each year and were creaming over this game to be updated for years so they didn't have to buy a new one each year. The prices for these updates or dlc are insane

Remember that it is well documented that EVP Kenny Omega was the primary push for what the developers referred to as an "unfinished game" to be rushed to store shelves.
This may be a "TLDR" post but here it is. There truly should be a law for this type of stuff. I mean if a person buys the "top tier" edition of anything especially a game; then they should have anything as part of the updates and DLC. So for a "X" amount and "X" period of time; a person should be entitled to everything that is to come with the content/product they purchase. Tier levels work for all parties if they stick by the rules. Base level means just that, "base" game and updates to fix something broken. Mid-level should be what we see now. You buy the game and content/DLC after because you didn't want to spend for everything at said time. Then Last Tier or Best Tier (Season Pass) should be anything that is going to be put out should be an option to be included into the game as the customer see fit. They download what they want and get all updates. No extra charges. I know this is long but it shouldn't be that hard to pull off and everyone would be happy.
One of the more frustrating things is all the changes they could make that are already in the game that would for sure strengthen the replayability of offline mode. Handicapped match, 3-Way Ladder match, and 4-Way Lights Out match are already in the game in RTE mode. The ability to have a Tornado Tag match I have to imagine is already in the game. The PPV intros from RTE mode can be used for the simplest of introductions for a simple Create-a-PPV mode. Maybe let me put a BCC shirt on Moxley or Danielson...because it's already in the game. So many easy things that would lessen the slap in the face that is everything else. I can't imagine being a Switch player who bought the Elite edition now waiting for any word on the release date for the Acclaimed DLC.
At this point, I'm done. I've tried giving these new wrestling games a shot. I even started to enjoy AEW more because of the fun factor. So I had hopes that they'd be better with communication. That we'd start to get more content in the item shop. Maybe buy arenas, caw parts, ring attires etc. But nothing, only these slow drops of season passes. I'm exhausted by it. So from now on. When it comes to wrestling games. I'll play them on the PS2 & PS3. Our last hope is Ultra Pro wrestling.

How fast are you expecting drops though? Wrestling games will always be behind. I am trying to support because I want competition with games. Another UA-camr said it best WWE games operate better with competition. We got inferno when tna got a game and now aew we get wargames. I hope you don't feel bad for purchase but aew games, thq nordic, and yukes need to learn from this and communicate with us!
Wrestling games are generally so difficult to create. I feel like there are way more mediocre/ trash wrestling games than actually good ones. But it’s true that FF could’ve been so much more but in the end it’s just depressing how communication between the fan base and the devs is pretty much nonexistent at this point.

As someone who never bothered to get this game, none of this surprises me at all. It turned out pretty much the way I expected it to. The thing with AEW Fight Forever was that it didn't really have a foundation to build upon. It IS the foundation. All it was built on was the idea that they wanted it to be like No Mercy. That's sounds great, but you have to understand that games like No Mercy, and HCTP weren't made on their first go. They were built on the foundation of other wrestling games before them. Fight Forever was never going to live up to those standards right away. I've seen this many times with other wrestling titles that were either the very first in their series, or was a game in a series making it's transition to new hardware. The best they could hope for is to get out a decent game, hope it sells well enough to make another one where they can implement the the ideas, and refinements they couldn't before.
This is the same way I felt when 2k23 released the new Bad Bunny Edition a month or two ago. I had bought the icon edition specifically thinking "I'll pay this up front cost but then I'll get everything" and then they add shit I have to pay more for! That was not the deal I made lol

I don't watch AEW really, so if the game was reviewed well I probably would've picked it up but people don't seem to love it. I just mean that the feeling of a bait and switch seems similar. Honestly, you said everything about how I was feeling. I thought when I bought the elite edition that I was going to get every single added on bonus just like how it works with WWE 2K when you buy their season pass or etc. and when I logged on and saw that I had to buy the acclaimed, I was like OK that kind of sucks but whatever then I saw that there was actually a second edition, which had the beat the elite mode and the acclaimed and something else I can’t remember though. I felt kind of cheated at the fact that I just bought the acclaimed and realized that I could have just bought that other addition, and gotten everything that I wanted. But I still was upset at the fact that I had to buy that again because when I bought the elite edition, I thought that everything else was just going to be downloaded. I don’t remember having to buy hook or Danhausen or any other wrestlers that have been added to the game so far other than the acclaimed. For me I do enjoy playing the game, but it still needs more and I’m hoping that they can improve it big time with you know some new modes may be increasing the story length as well. But I guess we’ll have to see.

I bought this game for about $40 from GameStop today and have yet to unwrap it because I wanted to make sure I didn't want to return it. I searched and found many thumbnails and titles hating on the game only to find out it is about the DLC model. I'm not complaining about that, make your money. I'm just questioning is the game itself that bad? I'm not a huge fan of AEW and I'm not that much into who is and isn't on the roster. I just like 3D wrestling games and games with decent create-a-character options.

Bought the Elite edition myself on day one. Got a refund from the Playstation store because the game kept crashing every time I started a match. Then, a few weeks later, I bought it again. Yeah. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Great retrospective and summary of the issue. When the game released and we saw the reviews, it seemed pretty clear given the development history of the game that something isn't right. Now we see the effects of that "something." Safe to say it's better to wait until they sunset all development and make a "GOTY" edition. And I use that term... very loosely.
That doesn't make sense. It's a live service game. You're approaching it as if it's an annual. This is not 2K's DLC model. If you want them to improve the game, you actually have to put money into, or you're sending the wrong message.
I hear you, but live service games don't usually repackage the base game with whatever current DLC they have currently out, and call it a different version of the game. Then release more DLC and repackage again. The DLC also has been underwhelming for the price they charge per DLC. And it's only been six months.
Also, as a general note, calling the game a live service doesn't necessarily mean it's going to continue indefinitely. Look what happened to marvel avengers.
I'm not trying to be overly negative, but you can't deny the multiple delays this game had, and the underwhelming game that was released eventually. You can easily see a scenario where they can call it a live service game in order to buy more development time, and money, to release content.

When this game came out on June 29th, I told myself that I was just gonna get it in December when I had more money from my new job and sales began.

I got it on a Black Friday sale on Amazon. It’s more fun than WWE2K if you like No Mercy, but I’m shocked by how limited it is, and that’s after several updates and knowing what others said about the game in advance. It was just about worth the £25 I paid for it.

Sadly it's the era of gaming in which we are in. Companies charging us full price for a game and then we are paying them for whatever they didn't finish on time.
As I like to say: Much like with TNA Impact, people who wanted this game to be like WWF No Mercy got exactly what they deserved.
I got this game as a gift…so I had 0 dollars in for the base game…and even I’ve only bought 1 DLC pack simply bc the pricing model is far too aggressive for my liking.
And it was one of the cheaper ones, Hook & Danhaussen.
Almost certainly no extra wrestler is coming in season 2. All over XBox shop the Bring the Boom Edition is advertised as "PLUS access to Matt Hardy, Broken Matt Hardy and Seasons 1 and 2 DLC, totaling 10 wrestlers". 10 wrestlers means toni storm is coming on her own I'm afraid. However we do get this...."a new arena, an all-new tournament mode AND 10 new tracks". The word "AND" is doing a lot of hard work in that sentence. The way season 2 was released and marketed is just the most recent baffling decision by AEW Games
I'm so thankful I didn't pre order the game. I was moments away a while back, but I was telling myself to wait and see reviews. Low and behold, reviews were mid to low and I dodged a hell of a bullet. Especially sense my best friend DID buy it and he voices his regret all the time now

A lot is on the table for them, especially since this is as close as we have been to live updates for a game, I'm assuming is supposed to last and continue to be built upon. Maybe it will all come together soon. Hopefully. Game was a nice change in pace but haven't picked it up in a while.
At this point I want to wish AEW fight forever. The best on its future endeavors. I paid 80 plus for this game an now they have the nerve to charge for more an with little pay out. 😮
The problem is they released barely anything in the base game and even with season 1 put in it feels unfinished. Compare it to any WWE game from the past 10 years and it lacks it almost all departments. the fun and easy gameplay doesnt make up for the lack of content.

I was so excited for this because it’s Yukes. Yukes used to make all the WWE games since 2000. Their absence in WWE was so severe that WWE 2K20 ended up being so bad that they skipped WWE 2K21.
I was so happy that WWE 2K22 and 2K23 became successful and was hoping Fight Forever will be a challenger in the space but unfortunately this doesnt seem to be the case
Definitely not buying the “Bring The Boom” Edition for 100 bucks since I already purchased the Elite Edition at launch that was 80 bucks. I knew they were going to pull some shady shit like this. AEW really tried to be the new No Mercy which failed and like you said felt like a demo and now they’re desperate for attention. Definitely feel ripped off.
The bring the boom edition is for people who don't have the game yet. You're not expected to buy it, you're not the audience for it. Have been in a coma for the last ten years? This is how every other genre of video game works.

@@tonchigaming7238 I play them both, have both games on my channel and honestly they are the same game but the FF has been polished a little, it is a little smoother, but if you play Raw for PC again or watch videos of it, you can tell it is the same game, the animations of the blocks, reversals and movements, running, getting up from ground, the way you are blocked from doing a grapple after they just get up, the animations for everything are exactly the same the whole feel of the game and the controls are the same pretty much but they have worked on it a little, I admit that. If you have the game still, play it again and you will feel like you are playing FF. It feels the same.

Buying the elite edition was a huge mistake for me. To say I'm let down is an understatement. I feel ripped off and stupid for supporting this game. All I wanted was a good wrestling game like No Mercy, instead I got a bare bones wrestling game with limited options and match types, garbage CAW, a bunch of mini games no one asked for and a big burnt hole in my wallet. Screw you AEW.

I don’t see the DLC going too low on discounts as the wrestlers get their biggest checks from the first scan into a game. Company needs to try and break even/make profit. A great alternative and nostalgic, but still agree lacking. However. I think the next game will be a lot more improved, polished, and greater.
Turns out this game is a money pit not just for AEW, but for their fans as well.
For me I love AEW FF it's my favorite wrestling game in terms of gameplay. They just need to add more content that adds to the replay value like a season mode.

I Bought the Elite Edition and I do feel ripped off.
My overall experience with the game left me very disappointed.
I Beat it, Unlocked everything and uninstalled it and I haven't looked back since.
Way over priced for what they offered at launch.
I felt the Campaign was Lackluster, Bored me to death with the stupid Restaurants. And you had to replay it to fully unlock different things because of different paths.
I can only do Exhibition Matches so many times. I wasn't a fan of the Mini Games.
I still feel like they Advertised Broken Matt Hardy as a 2nd playable Character with unique Entrance/Music.. Not just it being an Alt skin for Base Matt Hardy.
Honestly I feel VERY Ripped off by this Game, I would get my money back if I could but.. Sony.
You pretty much said what i was thinking. The game just does not offer very much content. The campaign mode was the biggest disappointment. I am happy that I only paid about 20 euros for it. It was ok for a 20 euro game. If I had paid the full price, i would be really disappointed.
I just never trusted this would be a good game because of how it was developed. Then everyone lived the game for about a week and then got bored. That’s just not a good sign

The game is fun and there lots of cool moves and nuances that make the game fun, but there just aren’t a lot of modes and creation options.

As a PS4 user i feel even more ripped off than everyone else. I purchased the elite edition for 80 dollars and couldn't play it the first month until they released a patch to fix the constant crashing. They lost me then, because I didn't want to play when patch came out.
I dont get why we needed mini games, that effort would have been best spent elsewhere in the wrestling part of the game.
In a few years, if they keep adding season passes and bundles along side it, you'll be able to buy the complete version of AEW Fight Forever for the price of a Mercedes Benz

The decline started a month after it dropped and everyone realized the game was a dud.
A lot of AEW super fans played the game with rose tinted glasses and reviewed as such. Passably fun wrestling mechanics is a good time for an hour or two if there's nothing else on offer.
Frankly I am shocked at how little match typea are in this game, no tablea match, no TLC match, no cage matches, hell no fiest blood matches for the 2 Moxley fans im the world, nor AEW's signature match type, the Backstage Brawl.
In the US on xbox the base game has only been disounted to 45 to this day. It's atrocious. Even WWE puts their games on sale more often and for a much higher discount. 2k23 at the time of this writing is on sale for 19.29.

We was promised an updated version of No Mercy and we got nothing like that. For me im personally done with the game and no matter what dlc they drop in the future wont be enough for me to ever go back to playing it again. Keep up the great work Assemble.
Everyone had their breaking point. Mine came on day one when I realized most of the animations were recycled from SvR's create-a-finisher mode.
according to Hartgrave the DLC pack included some secret skins & arena parts
I bought the elite edition on the Microsoft store and within two weeks got two packs and the preorder packs . I then asked for a refund and got it, in full ,from Microsoft . Much later i got a second hand copy of the game and when i loaded it all the packs i had been given were restored. Unfortunately i still dont enjoy the game because of the repetitive kicking and punching.😅
We all just need to realize that AEW will be considered an epic failure sooner than later. This game is a prime example of the overall product now.

Yukes should just make a new 2K19 style game with a focus on a gm, and Universe Style mode. A lot of the stuff in FF like the thumbtacks, Deathmatch, and Environmentals would be awesome in 2K19.

I was absolutely 1 of those that said it felt like a demo. It's unfortunate because they got some good ideas, also saying it was the next No Mercy was a misstep. This game is a massive flop, 3 years more a less for a glorified demo

AEW FF isnt a bad game. Its a solid 6 but for the same price as the season 2 pack I was able to buy the base version of WWE 2k 23 while it was on sale.
I have almost every wrestler from FF in 23 now and ones they have not added yet. The lack of CAW parts and sharing really hurts FF and given how its under the THQ banner why they couldnt use similar setup as Saints Row (2022) style of creation and sharing is beyond me.

I don't play anything newer than Gamecube so every time I hear about DLC drama it's like hearing about a dystopian society from another world.

im sorry but if you actually thought this game was going to be good or a decent alternative you was lying to yourself from the start lol....I didnt bother buying it and after seeing numerous vidoes on it in past couple months I made the right decision lol

@@TheSpookcitysame here ! I grew a huge fan of wrestling games so this sparked some interest. I saw 2 reviews at midnight and instantly knew it had no longevity and it would flop hard.
Great video! Haven’t played this game in months, kind of wish if you bought a digital copy that like on steam you could return it within 2 hours for a refund cause I would have returned cause game wasn’t and still isn’t worth 60 bucks
I personally don't think the game is salvageable. The brand isn't strong enough, the developers don't have a strong enough reputation to put faith in, and AEW as a whole has gone stale.
I usually wait until the season pass is at 50% off
I've never seen a wrestling game Have their title holders locked behind a paywall. The acclaimed were well into their championship and we're already the biggest tag team next to FTR at the time. Hell even FTR was DLC.

I got it for £23 on UK Amazon last week. I picked it up on switch. I have a ps5 and Xbox s but I felt the switch was the right console to play this game on.
This game just needs more modes. Like the only ladder match u can play is just 2 players
I feel ripped off as someone who paid for the Elite edition, especially as a Switch owner getting everything later. AEW games is outta their minds if they think anyone's spending $100 for a lack of match types/CAW items, trash story mode, and almost no online community.

This game is exactly what’s been wrong with AEW as a whole. A nostalgia company with no new ideas that don’t understand why those moments in wrestling were awesome. They try to replicate without understanding. They also forget the point of the wrestling business is to make money, not just fulfill fantasies

I still haven't bought this game because it's always looked like dogcrap, but are they still featuring story lines with wrestlers they've run off like Cody Rhodes and CM Punk? The character models at 4:17 look like they were made by that meme kid who mixed the Pringles guy and a giraffe.

I was really looking forward to this game, but after finishing the career mode in the first week of playing ... I started playing an other game and never went back.
I supported this game through development they will never get another dime from me
I feel bad for the people who threw 80 or 100 bucks into this game. The game isn't even worth 40 bucks at best even with all the current contents they've added.
