Great video mate. We will take this on board and improve the instructions. As for the yellow lifting arms. The shorter 3 piece arms go to the front of the car generally. You can put the car either way but it's easier to have them to the front so you don't need to roll the car back and forward to get the arms under. Yes there is a Joel. Great job. 👍
I would have though that the short arms would go to the front of the car because that is were the weight is. Try to get the cg of the car to the centre of the post.
brought one this week in Brissy. looking at a bulk purchase soon, pending quality. First impressions are great, along with phone ordering, easy and friendly, looking forward to seeing our hoist in use shortly. Thanx for the video.
Know this video has been up for a few years but thank you for taking the time to film. Great video and you are a real bloke. I like how you explained all your mistakes, your assumptions and errors. Then moved on. You also didn’t ramble and try to sell everything you touched. Mate, I do have one question; how much space do you have from the hoist columns to the back of the shed. And how much space do you have between the front of the car and the back of the shed?
Great job mate! As a Work Health & Safety Advisor I was getting a bit nervous seeing you on the ladder and lifting that cross beam...🙈😆 You've inspired me to get my own hoist!!!👌👊
Couldn’t agree more about the amazing customer service after sale mate. My hoist turned up 2 weeks ago looking rather sad missing paint & wrapping all torn. I immediately sent photos and within 15 minutes I had a phone call & email response with the hoists paint code & reassurance of when it comes to installation if there are any issues to just reach out.
Just stumbled across your channel, great work with it mate! Love the hoist install, Joel has an awesome hoist, I ended up opting for a different brand because of my height restriction I had, then they failed to deliver said height that was on their diagrams and had to go with their baseplate version, which sucked although the baseplate isn't as high as others I've used in the past so its not much of an issue. Ended up installing mine myself as well, very happy with it though, I also have a HQ coupe and it was scary lifting it for the first time also hahahha
@@TheShedSesh Hahah yeah those safety locks are are much louder than my hoist, would have freaked me out for sure!!! even freaked me out watching it a little haha
Good job.. you did the cross beam a safer way than me. I had a ladder in between the posts, climbed the ladder with the cross beam on my shoulder and placed it on top. It was very dodgy I wouldn't recommend doing it my way.
Put a very similar looking 2-post lift in my new "shop" as we call them in America. Can't wait to actually use it. Thanks for sharing your experience! Question: why are Aussie sheds uninsulated metal? Seems it would get terribly warm, or cold. Or is it a building code thing?
Great job. Loved the explanation or all of the steps involved. I have a couple of questions. I am also going to install a second hand lift soon, How close is the driver side lift post to the wall? Do you have any problems getting out of the car with it that close? Also will you have to back in the car to say remove a driver side wheel. Thanks
Hey mate. The hoist is a set width and if the car is in the middle you can get out of the car fine. The post is pretty close to the wall though but it only stops me getting between the wall and the post. But when the car is up in the air or on the floor I can get between the car and the post..... if that makes sense. On the wall side which if I drive th car straight in is the passanger side I have some shelves that are kind of in the way but I'd still be able to remove the front wheel, it's just a bit tight. I'd like to move some things around so I have a bit more room though..... I'll get there ;) The bay is 4 meters wide by 6 meters long...... ideally it'd be say 5 meters wide by 7 meters long but it is definately usable the way it is. You always need/want more space haha.
Hey mate, I did have to change from one side to the other as the fitting came in the wrong side. It was an easy swap. Any issues message Joel on their Instagram account and send photos. They help out pretty quickly.
Hey mate. Enjoying you videos! I've ordered a Joel's hoist for my shed😎, a base plate model as i dont quite have the height. I have a bay 6mts long like yours. What distance do you have the post from your roller door?
Awesome mate. I have them smack bang in the middle at 3 meters. I’ve run into an issue with putting the commodore on it though, driving in forwards, the spoiler hits the roller door roll at the top. Not sure if I can fix it by swapping the arms around. The front and back are different. But I’d probably have installed it say about 300mm closer to the back wall so giving say 3.3m from the roller door. But as I said, I may just be able to swap the legs and it’d be ok 👍 👍
Quick question. Whats the clearance under the HQ (eg at sill height) when its fully up? Trying to work out if I can fit an clear floor or have to go a baseplate model. Cheers
Good stuff mate. Can I ask, what happens when after you've measured and set the posts and start drilling, you hit rebar in the concrete ? What do you do then ?? Also, are the hydraulic hoses good quality and not that Chinese crap ?
Hey mate, in regard to the rebar just keep on drilling. I was lucky enough to avoid them. May have skimmed a couple in a couple of the holes. Can’t talk to the hydraulic hoses. They seem well made to me. 👍👍
Hey mate. Cheers. Shed is 6 x 12. Each bay is 6 x 4. I reckon a perfect minimum for a bay would be 7 x 5 but it works. Better than not having a hoist haha.
@@TheShedSesh cheers man. Building a house atm, looking at 12 x 9 3.6m walls. Good to see it all fits nice. Like you, bout time I got myself a hoist lol.

Cool car on the lift! What is it?
Any photos of Wire diagram for limit switch and possible motor if possible?
How thick was your concrete floor? Mine is 100mm, thick enough for those anchors do you think?
Great video mate. I picked up a used one. Almost new. Will install next week.
Did you use a 20mm drill bit?
Thanks

What is the overall height of the hoist, says on website need 3.8 but highest point is 3650
