As a Marine during the VN War I ended up in the Philippine jungle. The Philippine instructors sold us Kukuri survival knives made from the leaf spring of a Ford for $5. I still have it. I've used it for all kinds of tasks over the past 50 years. It is not a pretty knife, but it is a beast!
it took me almost two weeks to forge my 15" Kukuri knife out of an old DAF 8 tons truck leaf spring. With rat tail tang, a 5" long Tropica Letter or snakewood handle.
Yeah I had to learn this lesson the hard way too lol 5160 and I believe 52100 will not hammon. I believe the chromium in it won't allow the separation of heat enough for a hammon to form. I spent a lot of time one a few knives that a hammon never showed up on lol it was a bummer haha but yeah turns out 5160 will not hammon. Not sure about 52100 never tried. But I believe it's in the same boat.

W2 is pretty much the best I've found there for hamon. Also some folks like 1095 or 1075. Most spring has too much chromium in it for good lines.

Excellent work.
You certainly made that look easy . What length is the blade on that ? T.y.
The blade length is 9.5 inches and overall is approximately 15 inches
really nice
Thanks
Do you want to sale that Kukuri knife love it good iron works
It's not kukri. Its khukuri
Yeah, but most leaf springs are 5160 Spring steel just temper it twice. I’ve never had an issue.

Using clay so you don't have to temeper the blade after quenching
Yeah
cut off any 3 three, all at once I'd like all videos.
Your using the wrong part of your blade when chopping use the more forward part ,big surprise
I was using it just fine my guy
@Thepigeonforge just trying to make things easier for you 🤷
Bro saftey edge/cut is missing from design ...
No it’s a safe design I haven’t cut my self and the edge isn’t sharp by the top of the handle.
How old are you?
17 now, 16 at the time
