@@deand8070 still 1000% better than another youtuber who was on step 9 and hasn't made a video in the past 6 months - won't say who but was creating The Antikythera Mechanism ( 9 steps in 2 years sad )
Does Will have any experience with using a coke forge? Alec started out doing exclusively coke forging but I can't imagine that it would be very fair if Will doesn't know how they work. They seem awfully tricky if you don't know what you're doing.
I never understood why forged in fire would wait so long to temper the blades. There is a lot of internal pressure that can crack a blade if you wait too long.
I think they temper them off camera. On the Beat the Judges special they showed that they have tempering ovens in the warehouse they use for filming. So they probably have them temper in there before putting handles on them. Will would always say that now that the blades are heat quenched and tempered, it's time to put a handle on them. So they most likely just temper off camera.
I think will has this one. His design and overall forging looks better. I feel like Alec is more of an aesthetics guy while will has the edge on functionality, especially in knife making(and this is basically a big knife)
Absolutely love these versus episodes. No quest for perfection, just to guys beating their steel into submission ... ok that doesn't sound very nice, but you get my point! Good work.
Okay, honestly these are some of my favorite videos you make. I love the concept and it's great seeing how the two of you interact and yet have such different ideas! Team Steele btw
@asdasd asdasd - not actually sure that's a 'furry', because when you look at the picture close up there's no fur, the 'tail' seems to not be attached to the body and looks more like a beanbag or something, and the ears also resemble a costume piece more than anything else. Even if you assume the tail and ears are a part of the character, the general consensus is that merely having a tail and ears (eg catgirl, wolfgirl, etc style) isn't actually enough to qualify as a furry. But this character doesn't even seem to be that. So... Eh. XD Cute cat by the way. ;p
Really love to see you guys get more and more goofy in your videos. We can feel the complicity between you 2 (and the rest of your crew in the shadows) and it's a nice bowl of fresh air. Keep on forging boys!
I am extremely excited for the next step of the kukri's, but I am even more excited what will come from the new heat treating oven! I love this channel, keep up the good work!
I bet they're not willing to risk their credibility on Forged in Fire, it has been known to "RUIN" the careers of lesser known smiths, but with the work these guys have turned out in the past people know they make high quality blades... BUT IT WOULD BE AWESOME if they did and it's about TIME!
So I asked my son out of all the makers on you tube and we watch many of them, "who is the most entertaining ?" And we both unanimously agreed it is you guys. Well done keep it up don't mess with your formula!
I liked the sword breaker just think a bunch of the episodes could have been lumped together and it been like a 6-8 part segment. I know they really wanna showcase how much time and effort they put into that amazing blade but 8 episodes of grinding the guard just got a little hard to watch from time to time. But if it helps them sell the blade for 20k I guess it's worth it to drag it out.
Good, We get to see some competition between the two of you. That is a monster from Paragon. Beautiful heat treating oven. I like both designs on the Kukris so far. I hope y'all do the blade tests in true forged in fire style. Have an amazing day guys.
Awww, as soon as i saw khukri in the title, i thought you were going to spend 20 episodes making my absolute Dave type of blade. I'm glad you're making a khukri, but i do wish you'd make a much more fancy giant product. Looking forward to part two though!!!
It's possible that the Kopis inspired the Kukri. Consider how far East that Alexander the Great made it with his Greek/Macedonian armies; it wouldn't take long for a Kopis to be transported to the Himalayas.
Actually, no, it didn't. Egyptian kopesh is "the original design" probably. In Egypt was one of the earlyest transitions to bronze age and kopesh was bronze weapon...
Wow both of your kukri blades look amazing. Cant wait to see them finished. And i am so happy for you guys that you found such a fitting sponsor. Your work is amazing and you can really see the talent both of you have. Sorry alec but i am rooting for will this time :D
Alec steele is the channel i originally followed but i want stelter to get this win. They are awesome together I hope they never have a falling out. Excellent duo bro's 😎🤙
Alec!!!! We need more Mokume-Gane experimentation! Apparently Mokume can be performed with more than 2 metals at once (ie: Gold, Platinum, Iron)! I'd love to see what you and Will can do in a tri-material blend.
I'd really love to see these guys do this segment (steele vs stelter) like once a week or biweekly, definitely more often than they currently do know. Love seeing how they both attack a build with different ideas to achieve the same end result. Keep it up lads.
I like how paragon was like “ Let us show y’all the correct way to ship equipment” such as your mill and lathe that we’re both damaged. Seems like a good sponsor to have !!
Yaaaaaasss! WvA is back! No more long breaks or blades cut out by water jets! Make forging great again! Sorry that was a lot of !’s. I’m just really excited for a WvA episode.
Love to see the Little giant getting so much love! Tiny power hammer...so much feel! As a shade tree smith I am a little freaked you got that bad of warps after that many cycles.
Love the new Paragon oven.....with an oven that big you can make much longer swords. An Irish Ring Long Sword would be a great sword that you and Will can put your own spin on
This is a great channel. I don't normally say things like this on UA-cam channels, but it's captivating. When I saw Will break the sword-breaker blade, I actually called my wife in. She looked at me like I was crazy. Could you make a warhammer? Carry on making awesome tools and weapons!
A two handed kukri was mentioned by Stelter and I had instant hopes of seeing someone make the Armadyl Godsword from Runescape. I have suggested all of the Godsword styles and even the old school Runescape Godsword with interchangeable handles to many smiths on youtube and have yet to see one come through. Maybe you guys could get Jagex's support/sponsorship to use that nice big new oven you got for hardening some life sized Godswords.
That was a real fun episode, I love it when you guys give yourself some challenges like that. And there's not that much more challenging then Forged in Fire 3 hours blacksmithing. If they don't invite you one of those days, which they really should now that you moved to the US. It'd be interesting to you two tackle some of their harder challenge like a canister damascus from random steel sources. We've seen you dealing with damascus pretty often, so I think it'd be nice to see how you'd tackle it in that scope. But hey, no worries if you don't either. Your videos are always a good time ^.^

Because shattering blades makes ratings go brrrrrrr!

When does Will acquire himself a space-suit for the grinding room?

I was hoping for more Steele vs Stelter and have always wanted you to make a kukri! Christmas came early
Stelter has gotten a lot more comfotable with Alec's processes and personality, I love it!
Alec: alright so i’ve got my design laid out its about 20” long
Will: so i’ve decided i’m actually going to make a small sword
Alec's forging skills are really impressive!
I think with the new heat treating oven it’s time for another claymore. Extra challenge, do it in feather damascus, because that would be badass.
Glad to see you bring back the S v S and with my favorite knife design.
on another note: can we pleeeease get a damascus poleaxe/halberd?
I would love to see them make a pole arm
