This is the number one problem. You don’t know how dry your mouth can get until you wake up with your teeth stuck to the insides of your cheeks
Yeh no fun there.
Using one month and “then “ started drying out. Why drying out
Or your tongue welded to the roof of your mouth.
My throat stuck together, closed. I woke up in a fight-for-life panic. Holy moly. It's gotten a lot better now but yikes. I use mouth tape now.

Excellent, easy to understand. I'm anxious to try the suggestions pertaining to dry mouth problems.
Thanks for the feedback. Good luck!
Very informative. Thanks for these videos.

Outstanding, Clay! You just lowered my blood pressure. Many thanks!😊
Happy to help.
My dry mouth was so bad I stopped using the c pap for months , started back yesterday because I was always tired or sleepy I live alone thought I'd start back dry mouth and all ,no one to wake me up any more. So now I'm going to order a full face again.thanks for the help.
I have been using CPAP for over 20 years. In the last couple of months I have developed dry mouth. I have also lost 35 pounds and the pressure needed to be dropped. With the dr.'s permission I lowered it from 12 to 10 and with a chin strap I was able to solve my problem. The video is excellent, always look for solutions CPAP can save you heart and life! Be safe and healthy out there!

Xylimelts help a great deal. Also running a piece of bandage tape from just under the nose, over the closed lips and onto the chin helps tremendously.
Xylimelts are wonderful for me. Was skeptical but has worked for me💜

thank you, only had my machine for less than 30 days and have experienced this severe dry mouth. Having the company send me a full face mask, along with a heated tubing. For now I'll use the chin strap until my other accessories arrive.

@@CPAPmyway I have an AirSense 10 and I'm using a full face mask. I have the humidity set to maximum (8). I wake up several times a night due to dry mouth. I have heated tubing, but I'm not sure what temperature to set it at. Can you give me some advice?
I have extreme dry mouth, and I use a full-face mask. Because I have one nostril that has an impacted airway, it is necessary for me to use the facial mask because I sleep with my mouth open. I also have a heated tube, because the regular tube got full of vapor and set off some kind of alarm. I use dry mouth rinse before going to sleep. Still wake up with a dry mouth. The oral rinse just helps me fall asleep.
That is tough if you have maxed the humidity settings out already. Good luck.
O wow. Your situation sounds exactly like mine. I sometimes put a cube of ice and it seems to work better.
I have a full face mask and found the use of Biotene dry mouth rinse to help a lot.
Thanks for the input.
Good to know. I have a full face mask, and heated hose. Part of the problem is some of the meds I am on cause dry mouth AND I am a mouth breather by nature. I will set up a humidifier near my CPAP and see if that helps. I live in BFE Montana and it is high prairie/high desert (VERY DRY, people actually use evap coolers up here and the work better than when I was in Phoenix.)
BFE Montana sounds awesome. Good luck with the humidity.
Thank you very much for the video! I have actually just recently had my pressure raised to 16, and I wasn't having any issues with my mouth being extremely dry until now. I do wear a full face mask, and my humidity is up to six out of eight on my present machine. And last night it even ran out of water. So I'm kind of at the point where I may actually need a humidifier, but thank you for all the suggestions I appreciate it! May Jesus greatly bless you!
Good luck. In some cases we do have customers that have to refill the humidifier reservoir in the middle of the night. Which is no fun, but is an option. Room humidifier may be a better option to start with.
I actually reduced my pressure, and dry mouth better.

@@CPAPmyway I’m getting a severe dry mouth using a full face. 🙄
@@mercurym-7904 really I thought would help
I didn't have a problem with my mouth opening at night until my pressure was increased. I was using the AirFit N20, and, when my pressure was increased, I used a chin strap briefly, which helped a lot with the dry mouth, but it was bulky wearing the chin strap with my mask headgear over it, so, I switched to a full-face mask, the AirFit F30, which I really like. It's helped a lot with the dry mouth, but, my LIPS still get dry. I'm working on fixing that.
Thanks for watching and for the input. Good Luck!
Thank you I’ll try one of those straps
Awesome. Good Luck!
I was a full facemask user with dry mouth. My problem was that when I would fall into deep sleep my jaw muscles relaxed and I got leaks when my jaw dropped. My solution was a cervical neck brace. I am a side-sleeper with a thick square pillow. The neck brace was surprisingly comfortable to wear, and it supported the back of my jaw.
Interesting. Thank you for the input.
Which neck brace did you get? I'm having the same issue.
This is the issue i have.
@@qotsafan7638 It was just a generic one from Walgreens or CVS.
Thank you for all that information but I am the exception to the rule as I have a full face, with all that you suggested and still get the dry mouth .... very challenging indeed.
I am sorry to hear that. Sometimes it all just isn't quite enough.
Same for me!
Good video. Dry mouth happens about once a month or once every two months.
Thanks for the tip!
You can also try a nasal pillow mask that also goes over your mouth. I use the hybrid #500 for the purpose of the open mouth syndrome.
As a side note, I also use a night mouthguard because of my TMJ. This is another situation to use the nasal pillow with over the mouth facemask. The Hybrid mask is good for this situation because it has a built-in chin holder
Thanks for the input.
What is the name of the mask manufacturer please ?
Thank you. This helped a lot! I think I will try the Somnifix tape first. If that doesn't work, then I'll move on to the nose & mouth mask. I tried the chin strap already, but it's not my thing.
I am glad that we could help. Good Luck!!
I use mouth and nose mask. ENT suggested pillow mask.

Hi all. Thank you for the video & all your very helpful suggestions.for helping me with my dry mouth
My dentist suggests using Biotene solution in the day as mouth dries. And put some Tooth Mousse (pea sized amount she said) to the ALL teeth surfaces with a finger before bed. Reuse both if wake dry. The Biotene keeps mouth wetter & Tooth Mousse prevents dry mouth related tooth decay.
Thanks for sharing
I have never heard of tooth mousse before
What brand are you using. Thanks
@@MaxDance54 it’s called Tooth Mousse, in mint and another flavour. Great to protect teeth at night. Good luck! And the am dry mouth is not as bad either.
@@MaxDance54 a friend recommended GC MI Paste Plus. I got it from a dentist office. Tube was 25.00 but will last a long time. She also recommended Biotene gel to put on tongue. Haven't found that yet but I use the Biotene dry mouth wash before bed and then rub my teeth down with the MI Paste. I also use a chin strap with my nose pillow mask and it all seems to be helping.
Could you link your tooth mousse product. I found various whitening mouse, but.none for protecting teeth. Thanks so much
I have a full mask and severely dry mouth. Adjusted both the humidity and have a heated tube.
I was told to take the extra humidifier out of my room as it was messing up the machines abilities to read the room.

My Auto Cpap is suppose to detect leaks. Is there anything on the data screen of a resmed 10 that would give me an indication? I don't have a person around to check in on me. I do use a lot of meds that dry my mouth out. Some days, it's even hard to open my mouth, as it is so dry. I am having problems with my teeth do to meds that cause dry mouth and possibly the Cpap. It doesn't happen all the time. Is there any kind of slim mouth guard that could be used. Im frustrated, I need the best sleep I can get and I need to protect my teeth.
Thank you very much for this video. I use a full face mask by reamed. I am having dry mouth and will try some of your strategies. Problem is my mask is on properly at bedtime but somehow shifts during the night.
Glad it was helpful!
I have done everything you mention. I still have a sahara desert mouth from jaw drop.
Are you using the mouth strips?
I use a moisturizing mouth wash before I go to bed. Helps me a lot.
Great tip!
I will try the mouth strips first. I use nasal pillows and have tried chin straps and it didn't help much. Last choice will be the full face mask but I will if I have to.
Good luck. A lot of people do great on the Somnifix mouth strips.
I like the full face much better than the other ones. It's the only one I can use now.
I went through several testing masks before my small features found a comfy not leaky FFM. My FFM is a DreamWear FFM & only covers nose & mouth…I had thought the FFM covered ALL the face…..nope! The only model that does that here in Australia was taken off the market. The SEMI! FFM is much less than I worried about.😀
The humidifier best to get and where? What is a good setting for humidity level on the ResMed Air Sense 11 do I use? It has been hard to adjust and I get terrible dry mouth during the night
Have you tried the auto setting with a climateline heated tube?
I have full face mask, no leak, heated hose, water tank, humidity level 8 out of 8. Still get dry mouth. I live in the Phoenix area so very dry out here. I have elevated my hose temperature but will try an even higher temp to get the humidty up. If that doesn't work I'm gonna try a cervical collar to keep my mouth shut. I don't like the idea of tape although I heard one idea of cutting vertical slits in the tape to solve the power outage concern.
You may also want to look in to a room humidifier. Lots of customers have seen big improvements with that. Like the ones used for kids when they are sick.
I use a nasal cushion mask with a heated tube, chin strap and XyliMelt tablets. My humidity setting is high and my CPAP indicates I have good mask seal but I still have very bad dry mouth. I am fairly certain I could not sleep with a full facemask. I'd like to try the mouth tape but I have facial hair. Will the tape stick to give me a good seal and not painfully pull out my facial hair when I take it off in the morning?
The mouth tape is worth a try for sure. It should not pull your hair too bad. We have others with beards that use them.
I have been using cpap for 3 years. I have dried mouth, have increased humidity. I also haven been experiencing sinus issues, gum and teeth issues. Headaches. Burning in sinus on face. Ent say there are no polyps in the sinus passage. Dentist can find no issues either. Today I am going for a CT SCAN.. I have stopped using cpap in the meantime until issue gets resolved. In addition, the cpap I am using was recalled this week. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
My pulmonary dr just added a chin strap to resolve the dryness but I won’t get this sent until these issues are resolved..
I must say I do sleep so much better WITH the cpap…
New info August:
Recently been diagnosed with asthma. Not only is Cpap recalled, it stopped working. Doctor is currently trying to get another for me. Has been a disaster.
Stopped working, how? Heater? Mine flashed message saying "Heater malfunction."
It took my husband over a year to get his new machine. Hope you've gotten yours and problems resolved. The hubs also has asthma. I just recently started sleeping with a cpap using the nose pillow mask. Had to use chin strap due to dry mouth. Also using Biotene dry mouth wash and GC MI Paste Plus to put on teeth prior to bed. This seems to be helping.

Hello! Thank you for the video! I would like to try the lip seal.I couldn't see where to order. I have tried a full face mask ......lol some people drool ..so that didn't work for me.Thank you for your help.

I started out with a full face mask but switched after about 1.5 weeks when I was hit with pretty bad pain/weakness in the left arm/shoulder/neck regions that, from my best guess, were from the below-ear strap pinching a nerve in my neck from how tight I had to make the straps to stop any mask leak. So I switched as soon as I could to a nasal mask.
The dry mouth issue that brought up is a bit of a hassle to deal with, but the nerve issue was on another level and I don't want to risk going back to that. I found a chin strap to be only slightly helpful, and on my second style of mouth strips (the style that completely covers the lips all the way to the ends) I'm getting *decent* improvement. I might start trying a combination of both strap/tape.
Great info. thanks for the input.
I doubt a strap pinched the nerve
Don't use tape you could suffocate if you have a power outage and the valve doesn't open on the mask
Buena suerte!
Different medications can cause dry mouth. I use a half face mask that covers the mouth and nose but not the eyes. I get dry mouth a lot. I set my ResMed AirCurve ASV auto to auto tube temperature and auto humidity level. I also keep some ACT lozenges next to my bed to take and help with the dry mouth.
Thanks for the input.
I have a full mask nose and mouth I get very dry mouth as sometimes I cannot breath threw my nose it is set at 5 what do you think
Thanks. Have struggled with high AHI and dry mouth. I actually started wearing a cervical collar and that droppped AHI 70%!! However Phillips recall of Dream Station has caused me to stop using. Then got OK to use with inline bacterial virus filter. But NO humidifier. Terrible AHI again. So I will try somnifix
That recall has really affected us all.
@@CPAPmyway I'm NOT buying this recall BS ! It's all related to the idiots who used some "Ozone cleaner" from all I read. I did not! That's what filters are for. I used my Remstar by Respironics for 15 years, it still works. I bet ANYTHING it's more dangerous to not use the machine than worry about the foam! I bought the INLINE BACTERIAL FILTERS , Amazon 3-pack. Goes between machine and tubing, that's going to show any foam residue. NONE... ZERO ... Only slightly gray after 6 weeks, I bet also you get more carcinogens than what the bacterial filter traps than a commute on the freeway to work in one day. FDA gave Phillips a sh*t deal imo, they still haven't made a settlement w/ FDA. They should come out and say it's the dumb ozone cleaners or whatever. If they approved that, they screwed up. DreamStation2 is not affected by the way. And no, I'm not worried about "gasses killing me from the foam" LOL I'm worried about a stroke from snoring and choking like what my heavy-snorer Dad did, that gave him heart attack eventually.

I have tried everything except the room humidifier but i don't see how that would help. The air i'm breathing is getting water from the humidifier so what difference would it make that the air going into the machine has a bit more humidity? The machine i use hs the heated hose and therefore i can't chose humidity levels, only temperature levels and then it automatically adds the water. If the air around it was more humid it would just add less itself.
I understand the question. However, adding a room humidifier has been helpful to others in the same situation. Worth a try if nothing else is an option I would say. Good luck.
I use a full face mask on Auto BiPAP. I am a bad mouth breather and as a result suffered from dry mouth. I have been using 3M Micropore tape to seal my lips together. Surprisingly I adapted very quickly and every morning I wake up the tape is still adhering and my mouth is sealed shut. Not only no more dirt mouth but my AHI numbers are definitely lower. This morning AHI was 0.0
Certainly worth a try for 2 very good reasons.
Thank you very much for that input.
In my case I had a rare night where it took me over an hour to get to sleep. While I was waiting my mouth dried out. Mouth was closed with no leakage anywhere else. Humidification set to 4 of 5.
Water is preheated.
Non-heated hose.
I have nasal pillows.
I had a sleep study done to determine the cause of the dry mouth.
I think the technician was out to prove mouth leakage, so when I had a minor lip leak they stopped monitoring and sent me home.
To restate, my mouth dried out with mouth closed waiting to go to sleep.
To me it seems that there is a physiological response to "pressurized" air blowing in the nose and I think those responses need to be documented (they might be already).
Thanks for the information. I would try adding in a Heated Hose if your CPAP will allow it. Then cranking the humidity as high as you can to see if it will help. Certainly worth a try.
That's what happen to me.
My mouth and throat feel dry, even when I am awake with my mouth closed. HORRIBLE!!
Chin strap only jammed my jaw toward my neck and caused extreme pain within 5 minutes. And I still had mouth leak.
Paper tape with a bit of lip balm to protect the lips solved my issue…taped vertically not horizontally.
Thanks for the input.
I was measured for a full face medium mask & was getting real dry mouth. I tried size small mask and it resolved dry mouth. The mask falls under my bottom lip helping to keep my mouth closed.
That is great. Thank you for the input
Thank you. This was meant for me. I have been fighting a severe dry mouth and poor results on my Dream Station AVS. I am trying to get a full face mask through a full night as I can't get a good seal and it is driving me nuts. I have tried all of the other options however so I need to persevere. I have to fill the humidifier on my Dream Station twice a night and as I am also on oxygen 24/7, I have water on my liquid oxygen tank. I wish they made a much larger reservoir for water on the Dream Station.
Hopefully you find some relief on that. Thanks for watching.
I ordered the bleep mask and a chin strap and have done well with that.
@@tinabuchanan894 Thank you for your reply. I have another question based on your response. What is a bleep mask? Thanks, Wally
Here is information on the Bleep. I have used it for about two weeks. I get a very good seal with it after I got the hang of putting it on. I still have to use a chin strap to avoid dry mouth issues, but my sleep is so much better than having to wrestle with the mask. You will need to try and position it on your face to suit you. Look it up on UA-cam too.

Thank you great video
That is a tough one. Have you tried any of the video options yet?
Is-it possible to benefit from the humidificater without the ClimateLineAir 11 ? (AirSense 11 AutoSet)
For sure. The climateline air is a great addition, but the humidifier will help without it.
I have a ResMed how would you change . The air flow on it.
That would depend on which ResMed model that you have. I would definitely consult with the doc before making big changes though. We do have settings videos on our channel for most models.
Well as you can see by my profile picture I have a full face beard and mustache. I have to use a nose pillow mask. None of the things you mentioned work for me. I have been told about mouth leak but I find that difficult to believe because this has only been a recent problem with the dry mouth. My mouth and lips are glued shut they are so dry and I have to open them carefully to pull my lips apart. The only thing I have found helpful is turning down the air pressure after learning how to hack the settings from another video I have watched.
Thanks for watching and for the input. You certainly can only do so much to help, but if you are interested in a full face options we have found the AirTouch Full face to work well with beards. Link below to that mask.

I have a full face mask with the ibreeze. It’s set 4-20 pressure autopap. It ramps up slowly, which I like. My old machine had forceful pressure that inflated my lungs & they hurt.
However, 1-2 hours into sleep I suddenly wake up gagging to where I panic, felt suffocated ripped my mask off & pulled the plug to the machine. Sometimes I feel chest pressure & a pounding heart.
I can’t get an answer from the nurse tech or my doctor.
Do I need a pressure adjustment, get use to the sudden gagging or change masks? I had nasal pillows & a chin strap with no luck. I’m running out of options. What’s happening with the no air flow during the night?
If there is a mask leak you may have the "auto off" kicking in and turning the CPAP off. That is all that I can think of off hand.
Does this unit come with both a full face mask and a nose mask.
It can for sure.
I use a thigh part of pantyhose instead of chin straps.
It works like mouth tape as well as chin strap.
The only down side is to make me feel perverted lol.
If it works, then it works! Thanks for the input.
Fusabue, your last sentence made me laugh so hard that I started to choke, & then exhaled Pepsi-cola out my nostrils! And another thing with your method; if you gotta go out & rob a gas-station or something, while wearing CPAP..... you're all set for that too! And the "mustache/band-aid" mouth closure approach; this would be pure hell for those of us "real men" that still wear "full mustaches!"
@@martinbachmann6283 😂 the gas station robbing reminds me of that scene in Raising Arizona, where the old man tells Nicholas Cage, “Son, you got a panty on your head.”
@@MissHappiness36 AhhHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Lady MissHappiness! I had forgotten all about that funny movie-line way back; I found the lil clip on y-tube, watched it once more, & then was laughing so hard + choking that I accidentally blew (drinking iced-tea today) it out my nose AGAIN!!

Can I pay difference to get new station2 and my recalled machine?
I do not think so. You can always buy a DreamStation 2 once they are available again.

I would bet that you have a large mask leak if your score is that low.
@@CPAPmyway Thank you! What does that number indicate?
@@andreasharp5637the numbers are probably leak rates, usually measure in liters per second. However it may be a point system. You should look up the manual, or call a cpap sales rep.
My CPAP was causing such dry mouth that I woke up thirsty every morning and have increased cavities because of it help!!!! I’m a mouth sleeper and have a full mouth mask.
Are you using a Heated Tube yet?
My dentist suggests using Biotene solution in the day as mouth dries. And put some Tooth Mousse (pea sized amount she said) to the teeth surfaces with a finger before bed. Reuse both if wake dry. The Biotene keeps mouth wetter & Tooth Mousse prevents dry mouth related tooth decay.
Pity no one told you.😕 and good oral hygiene ( flossing daily, brushing teeth…) is vital to prevent cavities. Protect your teeth,! Avoid acidic foods like Coke! Sofas, fruit juices ( high in natural sugars). Actual fresh fruit & veg are vital. That matters too. Is there fluoride in your water? If not, at lease use a high fluoride toothpaste. Your dentist should be able to recommend local brands &/or supplements . Good luck!
I have been using rented CPAP (ResMed and Lowenstein ) and I did not face any dry-mouth issue. However, I purchased a new Lowenstein Prisma Smart Plus to own one and from the day 1 I have been facing dry-mouth, it is strange. Any idea what could be the reason? should I change anything in the settings?
I am not aware of a Prisma Smart plus. However, I would think that there is a humidity adjustment, and I would increase that if so.
Is there a pressure setting correlation with dry mouth?
Like more pressure equates with more instances of dry mouth or are there other parameters?
More pressure can result in more dry mouth from my experience. Increasing the humidity setting should help though.
can you use the so clean machine with the dream station 2. the water chamber is closed and does not allow you to put the hose directly in the chamber? I have used it for years with the past cpap machine. Please let me know if there is a way.

I have the Resmed. Since I been on the F30i it helps me lay on my side. Full nose kept leaking when i slept on my side. I do recommend the F30i to alot of people.
How do I get desalinated water for your resmed10 Airsense humidifier?
How & where do I get it?
You will want to use distilled water. And it should be available at pretty much all grocery stores.
Hi
My question is that I was using an old resmed S8 and have never problem with dry mouth. Then I switch to new resmed airset 10 with heated tube and it's started no matter what setting I set.
Of course I can try full face and all other recommendation but do you see any reason why it's doing this only with this device ?
Thanks
Have you tried to increase the humidity setting on that new Airsense 10 yet? The newer machines have a built in sensor to detect the humidity in the room. In some cases it may be a little too smart for its own good.
@@CPAPmyway Thanks for your fast answer, but I've set the humidity level manually so I set on 5/8 because more make too much moisture and build droplet of water in the tube now the humidity is ok the tank is half empty at the end of the night .
@@RichardGrossmanBSG75 OK if you are still seeing a humidity setting with single digits 1-8 then your Heated tubing isn't working correctly. It should automatically switch to a degree setting instead of the numerical 0-8 setting. I would replace that heated tubing first. Link to AirSense Climateline tube below if needed.

I have the same issue. I hate ResMed 10. I never had a super dry mouth b4. I use strap, mouth tape, humifier in room and on cpap, xylimelts etc and still have my cheeks stuck to my gums in the morning and still have high AHI and air leak. Loved cpap for 20 years until 3 years ago.
Micropore tape. Way cheaper, more effective. Cut to your specific length and/or double up to cover thicker lips.
Have the full mask, last one you showed, still have terrible dry mouth. Humidity on the machine is not all the way up but almost.
Are you using a heated tube yet?
I’m a bit disappointed as I have been through several masks and settled on the hybrid nose/mouth mask has the least leaks around my nose. I tape up my mouth every night using the 3m hypoallergenic paper tape. So no mouth leaks. I’ve been using a cpap machine for around 7 years and was really hoping to find a solution, as the dry mouth is causing repetitive infections. 😢 I’ve already got a heated hose which is way to warm to use on high here in summer as it’s already hot without breathing warm air too. The heated hose hets way hotter to feed it under the bed covers rather than over the top of my pillow. Sometimes I notice the heat makes my throat worse and turning the humidifier down gives me relief, other times turning it higher works.
Sorry that you haven't been able to find resolution. Does not sound fun.
Thank you for this information. I am brand new to CPAP and the problem I have seems to be air coming through my nose down my throat, into my mouth which bloats my cheeks and air has to escape through my pursed lips (with chin strap). So the inside of my lips literally stick to my teeth. I use the Yuka app in the grocery store and Biotene was rated Bad for Propylparaben an endocrine disruptor.
As a breast cancer survivor, this is not an option. I will try the strips or tape. Thanks for all responses.
Good luck. Thanks for watching and for the input
Thanks for info on Biotene.
I use a full face, Death Valley for me. Humidity and heat are my COPD. Try again.
For those suffering with dry mouth. Try monitoring your sodium intake. My issues with dry mouth are not near as bad since I have cut back on my sodium intake.
Great input. Thank you!
I thought a bit of sea salt or Himalayan salt kept water in your body. No?
Thank you.
I have a ResMed 10 AirSense AutoSet For Her and yesterday began getting a poor air seal message on my cpap screen. I changed hose, filter, mask, cushion, everything on it, and still get air seal message (red face) poor air seal. Do you have any suggestions, please? Thank you.
Are you using a nasal mask?
I haven't tried a different tubing yet. I think mines is already a heated tubing. I have 2 different mask that I've tried, under the nose and over the nose. Neither seems to be working as I continue to wake multiple times during the night most times with dry mouth. I awake with a terrible cough. I must say this, not sure which settings to use when my room is cold as I have to be cold because if not, I'll be suffering from migraines. What should I do to the heating tube and humidifier. I've already adjusted the heat of the tubing and humidifier. Does the humidifier have to be lower or higher in a cold environment. I
It sound like you are doing just about all you can with the CPAP settings if they are at the highest setting currently. We have had customers that add a room humidifier to their nightstand to add more humidity to the room in general. Similar to what many people use for sick children. I would give that a shot.
@@CPAPmyway The company is going to send me a chin strap to see if that will help me to keep my mouth closed
@@ams122086 Good Luck
Have you tried brushing your teeth with Biotene toothpaste followed by Biotene mouthwash before going to bed?
Hot air holds more moisture Antoinette. So upping the humidity needs warmer air, hence heated pump.
Side sleeping helps dry mouth a bit…I have a FFM that has compressible “arms” along edge of face. More comfy too with my small face.
I tried micropore tape for skin….works as large X over mouth but removal in the morning has some “exciting “ moments so the silicone tape suggestion sounds much better & I will get some thank you whoever posted that!
I use a full face mask and still get dry mouth. Even have added a small nightstand humidifier. I am assuming the issue is actually that I take a number of medications, for chronic illness and such, that cause dry mouth. So I started falling asleep with a dry mouth lozenge in my mouth. Those are nice because they melt easily so are less likely to cause choking than some other things. But, I am still looking for things to try to help. This may be an “ask your sleep doc or physician” question but I’m posting in case anyone does have other ideas that help.
If you have heated tubing and have the humidity all the way up, then it may be as good as you can do short of adding a room humidifier to your bedroom.
If my blood 02 is fine through the night even with apnea why do I need a cpap? I haven't found a good mask for someone with a beard yet and don't like the straps it takes and how firm they need to be do you think they will ever get a good micro capap that is free of hoses and just goes in nose (obviously humidity will need to be in room). Has anyone ever complained about hair loss with cpap straps cutting off scalp blood flow? I noticed some thinning up above straps over 6 years of using nose pillow res a10.
I am not sure on the O2 sats question. That would be more for a Dr I think. We have had people talk about hair loss and we even have a good blog on that. Link below.

@@CPAPmyway Thanks for the reply! If you find out more about the 02 being more important than apnea (from a doctor) let me know.
I wake some nights choking with terrible dry mouth but I have an 02 concentrator in my room too which is like a radiator 2 feet from my head. You missed that possibility. For me it means higher humidity and cooler air which is another whole wet face issue. Some mornings, my water is empty. Some morns, its still half full? Is my machine broken? Still under warrenty.
Water usage can vary widely. So probably not broken. You might should consider putting a longer hose on your O2 Concentrator and putting it another room. Can usually go up to 50 feet on the oxygen tube extensions.
I will try a humidifier . I have a full mask but I have such dry mouth that I use bottles of dry mouth spray. I wake up two and three times a night and spray.
Tried chin strap, to tight. Plus I wear a teeth splint for tmj.
I hope the humidifier will help me.
Good Luck! Thanks for the input
Sugar and acid free lollie all way work for me (15 years now).I bite them first and hide them under my lips or in my cheeks, it stimulate saliva .This work better with full mask, not so well with nosal mask . Chocolate work ,but its kinda messes
Got to mention. It doesn't stop the dry mouth it only prevent you from getting up and drinking water|(if you're lazy like me lol).Once you taste the lollie/sweets it start stimulating saliva, well for me it does
Thank you for the input on the dry mouth.
I’ve tried all except tape I used my own tape medical tape it was off my mouth by morning. I switched to full mask and it seemed worse . I just had gastric bypass I’m scared it’s stretching my new smaall belly. . Going to order the strips
Good luck and thank you for the input.
When I get dry mouth I suck on a Biotene dry mouth lozenge and that takes care of the issue.
Thanks for the input.
I'm a mouth breather. I do use the tape shown across my mouth it does hold but expensive. I wish my med res took note of how many times my mouth dropped down as I would interrupt my sleep to check it when I check my nose seal.
Thank you for addressing mouth breathing. It is the real cause of sleep apnea for me I realize on my own and is hardly mentioned. Until I breath through my nose and not my mouth I feel I cannot get a good night's sleep. Please advise me on that.
You may want to switch it up to a full face CPAP mask. Many customers are really happy with that decision when they discover that they are mouth breathers.
I have a cough and can't stop when I have my res med machin on .can you help me with setting as our store is not letting customers in .I'm set at05 tube at 28 humidity 4. Thanks my throat also gets dry and scratchy.
I would definitely turn the humidity level up and see if that helps. It can go as high as 8. If you need to switch to a heated tube you can do that as well to really increase humidity. Hopefully that helps. Heated tube link below for reference.

Thank you so much .
@@patriciaweir9459 You are welcome
I'm on a full face and having dry mouth. I was running my tube heat at 66 ( cold air helps me not freak out having something over my face ) and humidity at 2. Imma try turning it to 4 tonight but do I also have to raise my tube heat?. I had lowered my humidity before due to extra water buildup in my tube
The only way to increase humidity is to have warmer air typically. Cold air is usually drier air. So as you increase the humidity, you may have to increase the tube temp a bit.
Thank u, I'm on under nose cpap. Having lung disease.im switching.
Thanks for the input. Have a great day and good luck!!
