Everyone can tell from my avatar that I am an Alabama fan. Coach Saban uses a terminology called "The Process". This means you trust what is being taught to you and you follow the training. Wow. Great point about how it’s more important to love your neighbor than to dominate their lawn. It’s fun to work hard and see great results in the lawn, but if we are getting carried away by domination then we should check our attitudes about it.

Any lawn can be striped, you just follow the same lines every time you cut. Here in the North East, all you need to do is follow the light, meaning just like you said, follow the light stripes and come back on the dark ones, after 4-5 cuts, those stripes are burned in big time.

to stripe Bermuda you have to train it by mowing it frequently in the same pattern. It works best with reel mowers but can be achieved with rotary mowers as well. Bermuda stripes the best when dormant hahaa

a 17 minute video on how to stripe a lawn? here`s what you need to know. go one way turn aroiund and go the other way. Do that exactly the same every week and you`ll have stripes. no lawn roller needed but they do make the stripes pop more. I have 25 years experience in commercial lawn care so I`m not talking out my butt here

North Dakota is USDA Zone 3 sub arctic. May - October is 40 - 100 deg F and not much rain. The rest of the year the temperature during the day is down to -30 deg F with blizzards. The lawns there have very coarse blades and they don't stripe. In Colorado Zone 4 the lawns don't stripe either. If the weather is severe I have noticed the lawn grasses that grow there can't stripe and aren't that lush dark green or blue green. Iowa at Zone 4/5 can support grasses that grow fast and stripe. In the Portland, OR area my yard had to be mowed twice a week during the height of summer because it grew 6"/week and striped nicely. Walking on it was like walking on a 3" thick mink rug. That area has plenty of rainfall, water that is naturally high in phosphorus, lots of organic material and is Zone 8.
