I was very impressed with the Allett Mower. Not reel sure which way I want to go...I will figure that part out over winter.

I'll stick to seeing a reel mowed lawn when I go golfing.😅 Seriously reel mowing looks like waaayyyy to much work
Kurt Rodammer this is true
@@GCITurf wouldn't a short lawn take much more water and fertilizer?
@@carpentrylover145 he claims not....I might be putting this to the test this year???
@@GCITurf That would be interesting. I've always been told to leave grass long especially in the summer, plus I don't irrigate.
Kurt Rodammer and don’t change that either. Always keep in mind this is my “playground”. I’ve been blessed to be able to try and test different methods and ways just for the heck of it. Lol. If something goes wrong I can always fix it 😎
Works great! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxprGGPRQoChQaA8u58dt7miEpxQBKiWeJ More difficult with longer grass, though, but I was expecting that. I have a small back yard, it seemed like overkill to buy a lawnmower with an engine. This is easy to carry in and out of the basement through the bulkhead. Very sharp (be careful). At the back of the mower are little wheels, which I use when pulling the mower backwards, so it's easy to readjust direction. I'm including a photo which shows the before and after for my lawn when it was at its longest. For long grass like that you really have to put some muscle into it, and I needed to go into a new section of grass with some momentum, but when the grass is only an inch or two higher than regular cut height it's quite easy. The lawn is still patchy and full of weeds, but at least it's a good height! A step in the right direction.
Thats real clean. It would only expose my inability to walk in a straight line. haha
I'll tell ya, if I saw that driving along, I'd call your company on the spot
Koven Carlson thank you friend
seriously!!!
I saw last week! It really does look like this. 🥴
Careful man. Reel mowing is an addiction 😁. Send me one of those hats and I’ll put some grass on it Pete
The update we’ve all been waiting for! Looking fantastic! Been watching since the beginning of the renovation. Next renovation needs to be the driving range for sure. Keep up the good work!
Pete, thank you so much for your videos and honest reviews! I'm also in NC and having a fellow NC'er show how to properly plant and care for different turf grasses is so helpful. Thanks again!
Pete, I verticut my lawn this past fall and the results were unbelievable. I tagged you in a post and you responded. I love the verticutter.
Dang Pete. Havent checked in on this project since the big sprinkler and I'm more than impressed.
I’m getting my Allett Liberty this Spring! Cannot wait! Blessings Pete!
holy cow, having a driving range just a few steps away, this would be the coolest thing ever in my life.
OMG, what a difference big guy!!!! I had my own project this fall and I have some patches that are still "light" and haven't filled in completely but dang, your patch here is awesome man!!! Good for you and thanks for the video....I miss not getting the more frequent content but I get it, it's a hard job. Appreciate you and will continue to support/follow. Have a great weekend!
WoW Pete that reno looks awesome!! I love seeing each footstep in the new grass as you're mowing. Especially in the Rye Grass. I caught a couple videos on the Allett last weekend and really love the way that thing can thatch. The other cartridge would be awesome for over seeding!!
I felt like I was in the county jail looking at those stripes! 🤣🤘
Pete: Gonna be a hard decision on which reel mower to go with! Have a blast experimenting! Lookin’ unbelievable. Cheers, Hunter
Absolutely gorgeous! I love to see a yard like this. Certainly adds to a home! Thanks for sharing! God Bless you and your family.....🙏👏👍
this is the second time ive seen a mower like this on mowing channel. they cuts nice.
Pete, I got to tell you that those test plots are just looking amazing! Those stripes are really on point! That Allett mower is quite a beast too. I am really enjoying the content here and looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
What a Great Video Pete, I am very intrigued with this real mower and its capabilities. looking forward to learning more about this type of mowing!
Very impressive Pete! Never thought i'd see the day when you'd be Reel Mowing! This is awesome. Thanks for the content brother. God Bless...
Turf Therapy LOL. That makes 2 of us
I am amazed by that turf, it's a work of art sir, I could only dream of a lawn like that, hats off to you
Excited to see what you do! I’ll be tuned in for more of this!
Love perennial rye!! Color and texture is amazing! Reel mowers are legit..as long as you don't catch hard debris
Seeing those long stripes on that big grass patch makes the lawn look like a vegetable garden, but then again I don't like/dislike stripes.
But that turf looks like it's coming in great!
And thanks for letting us in on your first reel shopping experience.
Looks incredible Pete! I just wanna lay in that Rye grass. God Bless you.
Pete,
Months ago when I first viewed this video I had no idea that this would be a huge game changer for me. It started me down the road of my lawn obsession. I’ve learned so much through watching yourself, Allett Mowers, Ryan, Connor, Allyn, The Pest and Lawn Ginga, and Brian. My lawn went from being an embarrassment to being the envy of the neighbourhood. In the spring, while digging out thousands of dandelions, one neighbour walked by and rudely said “You got a lot of work ahead of you!” I couldn’t believe how rude he was. Through lots of hard work and learning as I went I’ve transformed a horrible weed garden into a healthy, blindingly bright striped lawn that is now something to be proud of. Lots of room for improvement but I’m always looking forward to the next step.
Wow Duncan, your testimony is very impressive and encouraging. Keep up the good work. Pete is an amazing individual. I also just started seeing these videos and have a terrible lawn. I hope to learn a lot from Pete and have a similar story like yours to share some day.👍👍👍
How do you make lawn stripes like this
@@warthief3401 with a mower that has rollers at the rear rather than wheels. To be as good as this your lawn also needs to be very flat.
I have always been big on the reel mowers. I have not got one yet but is the best cut for the lawn.
Great video Pete. Along with the attachments that were shown in your video, reel mowing is clearly superior to rotary mowing. Allett machines are works of art, and I believe that their price is justified by the results that are produced. Thanks for making and sharing this video.
Nothing cuts like a reel mower! I worked at a Country Club when I was a young man. It's quite an art, to create beauty on a Golf Course Green!
Pete that area has came a long way this year!! That is some nice dark green grass. Stripes are awesome!
Pete this is my lawn care program for the last 35 years in my business
I love anyone that is dedicated to their lawn..especially the type of turf! Just got my brand new John Deere 1550 terrain turf..This mower is unbelievable I tell you what.
Looking beautiful Pete! Those were some nice machines too! Be interesting to see what you decide to go with next year
Hey Pete, you are so excited learning something new! Now you know how we feel when we learned from your videos over the years! Boooooooom!👊☕️👑
George Popa yes sir. That’s right !!!
I'm first
Totally agree!
Made me feel like I was back at the golf course mowing, it’s much easier than you think tbh.. I mowed golf greens & fairways every morning
Looks amazing. Very jealous, I think it shows off your hard work in soil condition and grass growing products when you put stripes in like that.
Pete, man the front our your shop looks great. I cannot wait to see the way the shop looks next summer when you seed the area with turf Bermuda. Awesome!!!
new to lawn care, but when he hit that dethatching, I seriously about fell outta my chair watching the thatch fly into that collector! beeeeautiful!
Ok that's it, I'm shopping for a reel mower!!!
Those stripes are crazy Pete! Awesome video series on your shop renovation.
Thank you Pete. Will be waiting for your review on how well the kbg thrives in NC. I just mixed some kbg with your TTTF so I guess you could say that I'm experimenting too.
WOW! Looks like paint from above. That Fescue though... LOVE IT!
WOW! I want one of ALL the gadgets Pete. 😂 I will build a shed myself for them.
Pete that was stunning next level for sure. Thanks to Connor Ward and his emaculate living green carpet.
Chris Alarcon it’s all his fault. LOL
"That thing is made of something!" Great vid Pete.
The British didn't build the largest empire of all time without some decent engineering. Love the Brits and everything they make. Quality.
Amazing... Grass looks beautiful
I need to get my hands on one of these mowers
Damm now that's some nice stripes, Pete that is a machine wow!! 👍👍
Great video! Pete I know you are a commercial equipment guy. But the Sunjoe dethacher/ scarifier works similar to that machine. Aside for the reel mowing. I used it doing my GCI turf academy and got fantastic results. The Lawn Ginja did a review on it
Dethatching is the best way to prepare your lawn for seeds vs aerating as it opens the lawn and exposes the soil for better seed to soil contact. I've always had great success with dethatching. I see way too many lawn companies aerate and seed lawns with no success as the seeds just sits on thatch and dead grass. A buddy finally followed my advice about dethatching and seeding vs aerating and seeding and has been tickled pink with the outcome. He's now a believer.
Finally someone gets it, everything you just said plus what good is seed falling into a two inch hole. Aerating and seeding is sucks, unless your going over bare dirt a bunch of times to loosen the crap out it. Dethatch, aerate, slice seed is my preferred method or aerate/ sliceseed.
@@michaelperry4398 I agree with the seeds dropping in a 2" aerated hole where it will never see the day of light. The lawn companies suggest aerating because it requires less work than dethatching, but gives poor results. I see it done every year at my neighbors house.
I had an old power reel mower that a neighbor gave me as a kid grieving up in NJ
That machine is awesome. Well out of my price range, but man that thing does some work!
What we HAVE here looks like the American Flag w/o the stars. Puts some curves on the stripes to give that wave look. Figure out the stars later. Feel like saluting my computer. Some creative potential I see there. Love that late 60s sound theme music too. Rock on Big Pete.
reel mowers work great on Bermuda, not so well with centipede. but that Thatcher attachment with the collection hopper tho. awesome
I have been waiting for this video after seeing your post about it! Wish that rotory mower cut a little taller though
i just got a D100 riding lawnmover first ever and i thought it was the best. seen the first machine cutting make me realized theirs other levels of best
I have always wondered why residential commercial lawn mower companies couldn't have a commercial reel mower It absolutely does the best job of cutting
I follow them on Instagram those mowers cut beautiful!! That lawn rake is crazy...
I pushed a manual cast iron reel mower from age 10 to age 16. Big lawn too. Even a small pebble or twig would stop that thing cold. Just looking at the one in this video brings back not so fond memories. This year I went self propelled, battery powered. Love it. This may be heresy, but I'm not sure I like stripes.
Ok, I’m sold, now when I win the lottery I can buy one! 😂😂 wow, awesome looking! 👍
Whow
I live in Maryland Heights, Mo just about 25 miles from down town St Louis and it is very hard to grow grass because the summers become very hot and humid. My lawn does good because I mixed GCI and Jonathan green tall fescue grass seed. And wow my lawn pops with the help of Carbon X and humc acid. Even our St louis Cardinals use a straight bluegrass and works for them. I have neighbor that uses a reel mower on his blue grass lawn and wow looks great at 1/2 inch and do not know how he is doing it.
Nutrients and water. It's not "too" hard to grow grass here in STL, just takes a lot of babying though the summer. The golf courses around here look great in our area and they have a mix of grasses. Major difference is between sand base surfaces and native soils, Cardinals vs your home. You must be near Koven, he's definitely one to watch growing bluegrass on native soil. 👍
Hands down, beautiful lawn!!!👍👍👍
Awesome video. I did not know Allett made mowers in that size.
Was hoping you would put up a before picture of that plot. Huge difference and transformation!!
I definitely like the area of a REEL mower for personal use, and Connor and Ryan have been onto something for some time...
Allett is an amazing machine!
These are their sports turf models so that is cool!
I like the way that you love your job !!!!!
How did I miss this video? Very impressive! I'll stick to the rotary though.
Reel mowing is perfect for a homeowner that wants to keep his lawn pristine. Having said that, I've never had a lawn under 10,000 sqf, and there is no way I'm cutting that two-3 times a week. Ain't happening captain! I just don't have the free time.
great bit of kit, it should be for the price, in the UK the mower with no cartridge is £6K and each cartridge is £1.2K plus.
great video Pete
That golf range looks like one I've been to located right off of highway 14 (on the right of you are going towards Reidsville NC)
Wow. That some serious lawn stripes.
Good Lord, all mighty! That is some beautiful looking turf and one sweet machine. You know how some people say, “I’m going to have one of those cars one day?” I’m saying the same thing about one of those Allett mowers. I’m going to have one of those, one day. Those cartridges are similar to the Swardsman, but on steroids!
I use Allett there new Battery series I so quite its amazing Pete im in England by the way Pete
Those lines are poppin’ Pete!
Stripes AMAZING... I wonder how it would do.. in uneven turf.. great machine. 👍
Pretty slick machines, Stripes are on point
Amazing.. Thanks for the education👌🏾
Great video Pete! Good info
Looks like a great machine
I do love to see a great looking lawn! ❤️😁👌
It's amazing to compare the green color to the neighbors! 19:13
Make sure you take a look on how to sharpen those reels and how to tighten and adjust the reel to get the best cut you can get everytime. I have done it on a great machine.
That is one incredible machine!
Great video! That thing is awesome!
Pete that middle section of grass is showing out. I think that's the mix right. Wooooo it looks good
There's loads of cool cassettes for this too verticutting and such
Wow it's looking good Pete
That blue grass has great colour contrast
i can’t believe that is the same yard just wow
Great video Pete. Sweet sweet real mower :)
I have a small front yard about 500sqft that I want to get a manual push reel just for that consistently clean cut
Love that rake
The rye grass looks the best ....I believe it is the best
I love that mower!!!
Sounds like he's from NY.Any way he had a good time with his new mower, bless his heart. what - what - what it's pretty quiet ,--what. Dam my ears are ringing.
was watching your chanel and heard you comment about your exmark, I invented the posi track pulley system for wet grass . hope you will continue to buy Exmark Andrew Soots.
WOW looks great!
