I take a lot of pride in my stripes too. It's like a blank canvas each week and I do enjoy making some art out of a customer's lawn. Thanks for sharing! Nice work Alex
He deserves a raise. These types of people are hard to come by
When I stripe any residential property, I've always focus on what it's gonna look like every day when the client comes home from work and pulls off the road into the driveway. That mower lays a great stripe too. With an artist like him as the operator, there's more magic to come! The zig zag blew my mind ! I gotta give that a try!
The designs are cool... But that ride on mower is on a whole different level! Way beyond cool!
Is Alex just the coolest young man ever, Love his demeanor, his quiet confidence, he must be a joy to work with.
Alex should be your foreman for the mowing crew. He really shows that he is professional and can explain EXACTLY what he's doing. It's difficult to explain your trade to a customer that has never done what you are doing so that they completely understand. He did it in a way that makes me think that I can do it, and I've never spent a single minute on a professional mower.
We all don't have a steamroller for a mower
Alex is awesome; definitely want to see more content from him in the future.
Awesome video. This is something I need to try with my Hustler Super Z HD 72 on our 4 acres of lawns where I have straight 300'-400' long stretches, absolutley perfect to try the cross and diamond cuts. Thanks for the tip.
He's an artist when it comes to mowing and he takes pride in his work
I used to be proud of my efforts on a beautifully striped airfield but this is way beyond! Great work.
The stand-on prototype rocks, the hill handling in wet conditions is insane! I would never point down on a standard rig- gonny get me some tweels I think.
Properties like this are fun, where you have enough room to turn around and do different patterns, some you can’t and have to cut just normal stripes every time.
Every lawngeneer needs to see this! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
You take your time and explain what you are doing...
Beautiful jobs!!
Amazing cut patterns. The homes look pretty awesome too!
Thanks Bob!
Alex REALLY take pride in his work !!!
Amazing job Alex
That’s taking pride in what you do, not to mention it’s great for business to stand out above the rest ! But that mower is amazing . Good job Stan !
Thank you Mike!
There's a Steven Covey story about "Leaving Rake Marks" with your work. There are jobs you do when the best you can hope for is that nobody notices. Leaving rake Marks, or (in this case) mower patterns let's people know you have been there and can improve customer satisfaction beyond the necessary and asthetics into appreciation of workmanship and pride in ownership of the work. Graduate level techniques.
What experience does your customer want to have with you and your product or service? Sell THAT. Sell the sizzle; not the steak!
Excellent advice for sure.
He's definately an artist!!!! Nice job boys!!!
Wow, that looks awesome. Really cool, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome Daniel, thanks for watching!
Stan when are going to get an equipment tour?
Looks AMAZING!!!! Well done. Reminds me of Tetris - I want it!
Thanks for watching!
Alex is an artist on a lawnmower. He has a very very good eye for a straight line! His lines are super straight.Wish I had his eye.Just do my own lawn.I need to work more on keeping my lines straight.I need GPS to help me.Thanks for the tutorial.
You're welcome Stan!!
Definitely a art to it looks beautiful don't see it every day driving by lawns god bless.
For sure Peggy, thanks !
I would like to see more vids like this. Loved seeing the zig zag!
Thank you and glad you liked it!
Lol, @Stan, just had the “Sofa King “ joke played on me the other night by my teenage “adult” boys.. good inside joke!! Alex definitely has the zig zags down to an art!! Great video brother!! Stay safe and God bless!!
Thanks Colin!
great work love the mower
I mow a different way every time I mow my yard, so the grass doesn't get a pattern. Now you have me re thinking that philosophy. There is a business on I-40 that has the cross hatch pattern and I thought they had to mow it twice to get it. Now I know how they do it, and I may try it when I recover from my back surgery. Thanks for the video.
You're welcome and all the best for a speedy recovery Marshall!
Great Vid keep up the great work!!!
Will do Emily, thanks !
The water drop is my go to. If u can nail it right makes the whole property look amazing
We have alot of high end properties around Iowa City and most lawn guys have mowers set up with stripe rollers on the back of the deck. Doesn't matter what angle you look from always very distinct lines.
I’ve used a few different mowers for my landscaping business and from what I’ve used I think the walker mowers are best for striping. I have 5 walkers right now and sold all my other mowers and the striping played a big factor in that decision. They are also pretty good for cleanups
"An artist whose brush is his mower!" Unbelievable...
SOFA KING WE TODD DID! I just got my buddy with that joke 3-4 days ago!
🔥💯🎯🎯💯🔥ITS N 🖼 MY FRIEND AT ITS FINEST 🤙🏽
I was sofa king happy to see this demonstration!
Glad to hear it , thanks !
Nice video Stan I love stripes 😆
Awesome, thanks Max!
Great video. Awesome work Alex. I'd like to see a heart shape pattern. But I like to see it done on Stanley's grass for the Mrs. For Valentine's day 😉. Hope y'all have a wonderful and blessed week and weekend. Sending love and hugs from the central coast of Cali.
He is my favorite employee of yours, halfway through the video, the man reminds me exactly of myself in this line of work! I'd like to be his friend! Lol. Phenomenal work, glad he's putting a name out there for younger guru's like myself!
Thanks for the comments !
Stanley "Dirt Monkey" Genadek Thanks for the quick reply! Spent today watching lawn videos reminiscing back on summer. Having a very slow winter with no snow here in Northwest Ohio! No fun!
Sorry to hear there's no snow, thanks for watching the videos though!!
Great stuff Stan. I used to practice doing a diamond stripe pattern but my Encore zturn mower never laid stripes like the dual tweels do. I would also run into issues where if you turn too tight you tear the grass
Thanks for viewing Jeremiah!
When I was a kid, our neighbor was obsessed with his yard. Perfect lines all the time. One day he saw a bunch of us boys, including his son, playing football in our back yard with clumps of sod getting tore up and so on. He approached my dad and said "how can you let those boys tear up your lawn like that?" My dad just smiled and said "That's the difference between you and me, you're worried about raising grass...and I'm more interested in raising kids". Then he just cracked open a beer and rooted us on. Lol
Awesome story, thanks for sharing and for watching!
Sounds like your dad was a bit of a slob
any updates on the new badass drive wheels? I'd like to have a set for my Ferris zero turn. thanks bud
Love your Scag
Good job Alex
Thanks for watching Travis!
stand in the middle of large property and show a 360 view of lawn. Will show difference based on which way you look. Also sun to your back always shows best stripes. The lighter stripes are always the direction you mowed. They flip flop from light to dark depending on which side of lawn you are on. Darker is grass laid down towards you. Lighter is grass pushed away from you. Once I show my guys that it really starts to sink in.
also gonna go throw some zig Zags on my Sunday only commercial accounts tomorrow. Already got diamonds. Omg stan wtf are tweels I just now noticed these are way better vs regular dually Wright. reminds me of running bald tires = great for flat lawns
Is there a roller on the back pressing the grass down. I know that is what mlb mowers have
I do circles it looks like when you drop a rock in a pond. I do 2 off Set circles it looks really cool
Awesome, thanks for being here!
Nice beautiful yard man
Thanks!
stripe king needs a film crew and his own youtube uploads!!!
Good one I never knew how they did that
Thanks Ronald!
Cool effect - those of you who mow for a living, especially for the larger places, may be able to charge a decent premium for these special cuts - more profit without being greedy.
What does the striping? Do you need anything special? What if any is the benefit? I’m new to this!!
For anyone whose mower doesnt get a very defined striping pattern, they even make stripe rollers which are just weighted cylinders you can roll over your lawn in the directions you mow back and forth to roll the grass over similar to how golf course mowers work on fairways and greens. Great for homeowners. Can even do a cheap DIY one yourself to save a buck.
Some grass types look better than others, I don't have a striping kit, but I cut, then lower the deck 1-2 inches lower and just lay the stripes without the blades going, works really well
“Minnesota where it seems to rain every two days” …. ah, the good ol days!
don't you love it when you make a meticulous stripe pattern, and somebody runs right across the middle of it with their mower to get to the truck? 😂 anyway, good stuff; i didn't think striping was a thing on this channel.
He must be looking for patterns for a hair transplant.
@DougE 🤣
Those guys get an ear full if they dare cross my fresh stripes and it's the last time it happens 😂
kodiak wild Figured knowing how to stripe week by week was standard practice for a well seasoned crew. My first mow job my boss nailed it into us. Frame it, Mow it, Trim it, Blow it.
I set up every yard that I can for cool patterns. But rain and yard layouts put a damper on it plus hills with Zero turn is tough. 1st year in the business but I seem to be knocking out of the park.
Nice!
What the heck type of mower is this? I've never seen one like this before, got some steamroller tires on the back.
17:56 the stripes reflecting on the water make a nice shot
what is the name of this walkbehind mower. I know you said this was a demo but its been three years now. Tell me they make this mower cause that is amazing.
What grass cut height do you recommend?
What keeps the pivot from being a problem? After a while it would seem that it will cause patches. Not criticizing your work at all. Just wanted to know. Thanks
that looks awesome!! How about some patters that us small lawn guys can do with maybe a 32 or even a push mower?
The size of the mower doesn't matter.
Stan,
What's the best way to cut a triangle piece of land? It's a bit over a quarter acre, and I'm using a rider for now but man it's a PIA making the turns at the long point of the triangle.
pick one side each week and carry the stripe all the way across the lawn.
Does anybody know how well that dually system works? Got some ponds that I think would help with traction and stability lmk please!!
20:40. If it can mow in conditions that wet, on that slope, I'd say it's pretty good.
Do those types of Wheels help with striping also can you get those for Scag V Ride
The wheels were not the trick to making these patterns work.
Stan fired this guy after this video for playing around on the mower all day 🤣🤣🤣. I’m playin
Man I have a Kubota Z-411. It only has a 48" deck and I have always had trouble stripping! I've added a flap on the back with horse mat cause the deck just doesn't have enough suction! I be tryed to get some different blades but since I have the 48" deck it's hard to find blades that are high-lift! Pluse I'm trying to mow St. Augustine cause I'm from South Louisiana and that is the main grass we have down here. Hopefully I can build a house soon so I can start fresh on my yard and plant some good grass on my own!
Best of luck Matthew , thank you for watching!
The diamond pattern is actually a 3 week process 2 90°passes then a 45° to split it to show a more aggressive edges to a diamond vs a square
Walker mowers are natural stripers with timed blades that t turn opposite each other and discharge to the rear center
I want that mower so bad jeeeeez
What piece of equipment is that ?
stepped the mow game up! is that one of your guys
Yep
Can you please tell me what tipe of grass this is ??? And if we can get it down here in GA
Looks like premium 6am grass. Wait, it might be the 6pm version!
Great job! The only thing that I would change is, run your earbud cord under your shirt and out the collar. It used to annoy me when the cord would catch something and rip my earbuds out of my ears. I made this comment early in the video. Now @11:00, I see another issue will be fixed lol. You can pull them out of your ears and let them hang over your collar, instead of trying to keep them on your shoulder.
Been in the business for a while. Could never get advanced patterns figured out. B/c I mow one way. Then the next week I mow a different way...and all you ever see is the current set of stripes I mowed. How do you get the last week's stripes to still be visible? If I did exactly what he did for cross hatch, even double cutting on the same day, all you would see would be the last set of stripes running parallel to the pond. I don't have anything fancy, no stripe kit, just regular blades on wright standers and scags. Boggles my mind how you can still see a previous set of stripes.
Example: I'll mow vertical week 1 at 3.5 inches, and you see vertical stripes. I'll mow horizontal week 2 at 3.5 inches, and you see horizontal stripes. There's no sign at all of the previous week's vertical stripes. There's no crosshatch or diamond or even potential for zig zag. What am I missing here?
That beast is the Ferrari of mowers.
Crop circles ?
What height are you mowing this grass?
What mower is it
Hey Stanley, do you know how much he gets paid for those stripes?
I'm so glad the Sofa King comment made it through editing lmao
Can this be done with a walk behind push mower?
Yes it can
It’s a beautiful process, but no way I’m going to try and stripe my 8 acres on a 42” craftsman lt1000. 😂😂😂
That’s looks amazing.
Why no mulch kit?
Dual tweels? Dual Wheels?
If you have to go over a stripe that you already mowed, remember to follow the light (the lighter stripe). That way, you won't change anything.
Now I know the names of striping.
Can he do circles or target stripes?
yes he can
I have a mow pattern for that challenge. Where can I send you the challenge.
stan@landscapebusinesspro.com
Is it scag can you do a video on sitdown scag mowers
Thanks for the suggestion Jordan!

AND BUY HIM A FRIGGIN BELT HUH???😀
Its about the sun on how it hits it also
True!
does this have a stripe kit or its just the technique?
Both
I'll bet you never did this to the hay fields when you lived on the farm!
not a chance
Equipment tour
i hope they put that mower into production

If each house's lawn was independently maintained, imagine the pressure on a homeowner to sign up to be part of the pretty pattern.
Cross hatch looks like cape breton tarten
