Great idea. I use a stand on ZTR and was wanting some sort of striper that wouldnt get in the way of getting on and off the mower. I'm going to give this idea a shot!

Just saved me about 30$ on my gravely. Been buying rubber from lowes/hd for my gravely and doin this for years but not near as thick or same size sheet for price. Plus it falls apart every year. Thanks man!

How did you figure out the height to mount that strip vs your deck height? I am currently testing that same mat but dragging 4' by 18" piece off the back. Would like to not have the rear supports sticking out.

i have a husqvarna mz61 and the deck curves once it extends past the wheels so do i put the strip around some of the bend or just the flat part
It only needs to cover the grass between the rear tires! If possible I like for the mat to run center to center of rear tires
What about a push mower?
hey olee. Im curious about making turns with the single strip. when u are spinning, half of the striper will be rotating in one direction, while the other half rotates in another direction. do u have issues with ripping up the grass while turning?
No issues no ripping.. Both tires are always turning never dragging

I said mine up at 1 inch off of the ground at desired mowing height.. Far as the length goes it needs to go from tire to tire
Hey there! I’m planning on going this over the weekend. How many inches “tall” did you cut this?
That depends on each model of mower they’re not all the same ride height..
Best thing to do is to set your mower on level ground preferably concrete set your mowing height and then measure from the concrete up to the deck I leave at 1 inch off the ground
@@FescueFreakany issues with going in reverse at that height? I would imagine once on grass you probably get even closer to the ground technically. Have you found that it still works if you raise or lower your cutting height a half inch?
So...I have a cub cadet 33in walk behind....where would you suggest mounting it?

If it’s a 52in zero turn
I set my up at 1" off the ground at desired mowing height for maximum stripes..
So if I’m at 3.5in install the mat to where 1in is below the deck while the deck is raised correct?
@@leofowler5812Simple, put your mower on a flat surface, set your deck height to what you normally mow, set the rubber on top of 1” wood blocks or something near that height and then drill your holes and bolt in on.
So if you cut your grass on 4 inches you want 3 inch of mat hanging below the deck?
You want the mat at 1” off the ground
@@FescueFreak so if you change the cutting hight you will have to reposition the mat correct?
@@troygibson6690yes with his formula it always should be 1” off the ground . Starting at that 1” mat spacing if you were to Raise the deck 2” that means lower the mat 2”. Or Lowering deck 1” means raising the mat 1” .

How long do you let you grass get and then cut?
I'm mowing at 3.75" so 4- 4.250" keep the lawn cleaner of clippings
@@FescueFreak it left lines but not like it was when I was mowing at 2.75in. But I kept it at 3.37 and mowed and then I dropped my deck all the way down without PTO on and now it’s rocking them!

Only bad thing with that,is you have to cut the grass the same Hight if you go any higher,it won’t stripe,,and if you go lower it will rip your grass up
Good thing is I cut my grass at the same height all year and it works perfectly!!
When it’s time to over seed and I want to do a 2 inch scalp I just unbolt the striper..
Just come to my house every week and mow.
I'll let you UA-cam it in exchange for the mowing.
