Can't believe Hulk shared our vid! Does he know what OSW awards he's won? 😂 facebook.com/135463036492497/posts/2641894522515990/
Just wait until he gets to Halloween havoc... Lol...
Holy shit.. amazing.. love this show (fairly new but I'm hooked) especially being an 80s baby an watching WWF in the 90s.. but ultimate warrior is lucky that pose off wasn't the following year as I just watched 1990 rumble and RICK rude was even in much better shape than he was here.
LOL
OSW Review HD
The Warrior was supposed to sell the baby oil in his eyes but didn’t. This pissed Rude off that’s why his hit to Warriors head was really stiff. Funny how you said Robins music sounded like some thing Sam Huston would use because Rockin’ Robin and Sam Huston are both siblings and siblings of Jake Roberts and their father was the famous wrestler Grizzly Smith.
Holy shit
"A lifetime sentence of Hulkamania" God kill me now.
Lemongrab: *ONE MILLION YEARS HULKAMANIA!*
Rick Rude had a 'stache that put Tom Selleck and Burt Reynolds to shame. Even Rudes mustache had abs.
😂😂😂
"Mr. Perfect is where it at" legendary
This is the episode where the show really came into its own in my opinion.
I hadn’t honestly thought about it. But im gonna watch this entire episode with that lens now. Thanks brah
It was number 16 for me, the No holds barred episode
I think it’s where they started to come into their own but it took a couple more episodes until they were the OSW we know and love!
This was the first episode I ever saw, been a fan ever since.
It's the first that was filmed in glorious grapplevision and encoded with blast processing
Akeem's dancing was absolutely mesmerizing!
Rockin’ Robin’s theme could be called “The Devil Went Down on Georgia.”
I'm a big fan of these. Been binge watching these over the past couple days. Good shit!
#measwell
Same
Just found them. Same
"the training the prayers the vitamins the coke and the roids" .... fixed it for ya
american here, you got this video remastered you know where i could see you could upload it
The reason why Race was still wrestling at that time is actually pretty sad. He was supposed to be retired but the territory he had shares in went bankrupt with the emergence of the WWF. He was forced out of retirement to pay the bills.
28:59 that kick doesnt look like a Kayfabe thrust kick to me...maybe Im wrong because we only have 1 angle to work with but that kick looks like it hit Harley Race full force in the face and then some due to Race running into it...
I saw dude slam Andre The Giant way before Hogan and the 'slam' became a thing..
*he was before my time but I did have an interest in the smaller territories of older stuff.
Like Florida & Midwest & Texas.
it was so cool seeing how That territories best or #1 guy would get a title shot @ Ric Flair.
As if the NWA was all of them.. I never really fully understood it except the WWF was it's own thing and WCW was NWA...
**sorry bout the derail,,im super remembering these awesome days of my early teenage years in 1980's.
@@CT-nb5lm I like tales from the territories
Bad news comment when he draws his number is funny as fuck "this could be good news for bad news" brilliant
Judy Martin was only 34 years old here.
Jesus Christ, she looked more like 64. That’s a woman that’s been though some tough stuff in her younger years.
No matter how many times I watch this, I can't help but get a flashback when I hear that Street Fighter 2 character select music.
I was there for that! It’s one of the greatest memories I have with my Dad. What an amazing experience it was.
I admire Mean Gene for keeping a straight face during Hogan promos. I would have been cracking up.
He cracked up all the time, they just edited it out or took another take. The outtakes are all over UA-cam. They're hilarious.
i think Mean Gene said that he was always cracking up then he would get mad at himself because he had to spend time doing them again
I love Randy's entrance against bad news brown. He was just steaming and in a rush to get to the ring. He was the best at psychology
That Savage/Brown match at the end was pretty damn good too.
It was did u or anyone else notice when Savage won he put the belt on upside down?
If you're reading this then WWE hasn't deleted our vid! Currently re-uploading our Rumble episodes back on UA-cam. This time it's the lead up to WrestleMania V, it's Royal Rumble 89 and Saturday Night's Main Event (Feb 3rd) where The MegaPowers break up! Please like the vid and leave a lovely comment why not :)

Where is the moment when Jake puts snake
Not break up, explode ;)
Jesus Hulk is HUGE. This is PRIME Hogan at this size. Wow. And I love the "I'm gonna give Big Boss Man a life long sentence of Hulkamania" fucking lost it
@@audiosurfarchive he towered over savage .
"It's a happening" isn't so bad when you hear the trash slogans that Michael Cole repeats before every PPV, chief among them being "The only time Raw and Smackdown go head-to-head in direct competition," which is just plain wrong.
Good God, Rockin' Robin's theme may as well have been Yackety Sax!
I was 8 when this aired and now I’m 40 and older than all of them but they still look older than me.
Super pose down is my earliest wrestling memory. Would have been 7.
Sweet! Glad I found this. I went to this event as a kid for my birthday. I'll never forget it. This was the Golden era of wrestling in my opinion.
That posedown was epic, Warriors arms where super huge
A young Charlotte Flair must have watched Terminator Judy Martin for tips on how to no sell her opponent's offense.
Every time I hear the rockin Robin music I expect a chocobo to come running out. Good shit homies, I love all of your guys work. Please never stop.
*The BEST ; 1 . Ultimate Warrior , 2 . Hulk Hogan , 3 .The Undertaker , 4 . André Giant , 5 .Macho Man , 6 .Sid Vicius , 7 . Hitman , 8 . British Bulldog , 9 . Tornado Texas & 10 . Ric Flair & St.Slaughter .*
Apparently Warrior no sold the Tanning Oil from Heenan so Rick Rude legitimately battered Warrior
Rude knocked out a big dude with a slap. Being hit by Rude holding a weapon would’ve been powerful as hell!
Hell yes, this makes my day knowing how this went lmao
So I was watching the 1996 Rumble on the Network lately and apparently Rockin' Robin's music was reused.....for DORY FUNK! :D
oh! good catch!
this is a blast from the past. damm i remember seeing this back then.
These are the best videos on UA-cam. I absolutely love you guys!
duane douglas lmao, who cares?

duane douglas i dont see you doing any better? Go back to your message boards mark fuck
"maybe it's cold in the arena, or maybe she's got no heat" -- genius
Jesse “The Body” Ventura IMO is the Greatest Color Commentator Of ALL TIME!!
100% agreed
During the pose down with Rude and Warrior.
Monsoon: He doesn't need to get pumped up he's pumped up all the time.
Ventura: He's an idiot
Found out about OSW way later than I should have. Fuckin good shit
Great to have ya aboard brother brah! 🍻
when a wrestler is over because of his mustache, you know he have done something right
Hulk Hogan's face when Mean Gene mentioned the possibility of the Royal Rumble match coming down to him and the Macho Man was hilarious.
I'd like you to tell AA Arn Anderson to his face that he looks horrendous and he hits you with the best spine buster in the business boom!!!
It's funny, Big John Studd was actually super important to the WWWF and a huge name at one time, as well as one of the original members of the Heenan Family alongside Andre, but he's mostly remembered for ruining this Royal Rumble by winning it. In defense of the booking decision, Vince thought Studd would be sticking around for a decent run, but Studd changed his mind and retired, thus making this win stupid and awful in retrospect.
Exactly they were building him up to wrestle Andre, Boss Man and Akeem.
I can't believe they went with Studd. In 85 or 86,I get it. But by 1987,John Studd was done
u spelled wwwf instead of wwf (ha ha)!! funny though!! but nice
@@ms-ex8emhat’s what it was called World Wide Wrestling Federation in the super old days!!
@@ms-ex8emUhh, it's actually you that is wrong. The company used to be called WWWF, with the extra W. That's why you shouldn't try to sound smart without doing actual research first.
That's my only problem with the Mega Powers feud: part of building up Macho as the next top guy after Hogan was being the next babyface champ. Yet he was portrayed as the heel when Hogan's taking his girl, eliminating him from the Rumble, not saving him, being jealous and shit. Hogan and Cena have been prone to asshole moves as top faces, and no one gets to rise above them - face or heel. They built up Savage just so he could lose to Hogan as the heel and give the title back.
-----------------------------
More recent example I can think of is Cena and Ryback where they're going against the Shield and Cena never saves the Big Guy from like 6 beatdowns and table powerbombs. But he's the messiah because he gives him the HIAC title shot. Ryback was over huge that October, enough so that they almost had Punk drop the belt to him with Cena out, if you remember. John eliminated him from the Rumble too, winning it again and shoving everyone else aside so he could have another main event with Rock. Ryback lost to Henry at WM but there was a pop when he eventually attacked Cena. Just got fed to him in the summer anyway, like what the hell. Ryback and Barrett were like the Bossman/Akeems' to Cena's Hogan.
thanks for the summary. i stopped caring when punk left and only watched sporadically just before the pipe bomb. the product has been shit for a long time now. not worth the time or attention.
Barrett was awesome and they crapped all over him. The Nextis group with Barrett as the leader was sweet but then they had Cena beat all of them and made them look so weak. At least Barrett could have been a strong mid card champ and at best a top Heel if they would have pushed him when they had the chance. I'm still bitter when I think about it.
Look at the reaction Hogan gets! That's why Hogan did less, he legitimately didn't have to do much to get those huge POPS!
Just rewatched this video and then the rumble on the network. Sherri is awesome on commentary. Rest In Peace.
I think Nintendo stole Rockin' Robin's music for the mine cart minigame in Mario RPG.
Would've been Squaresoft. And they are remarkably similar. O_o
Debiasse was the best heel in the company at the time and getting a strong push, Studd hadn't had a push in two years. This booking made no sense, having Ted win against a far bigger opponent would have been a huge step for him considering he was in line for the belt at WM 4.
I constantly forget Big John Studd won the second Royal Rumble... as do most people I imagine.
@@planescaped well that shouldn’t be a knock to the guy, he was one of the best big men in the business.
Vince was under the impression that Studd would be sticking around for the next couple years, he was huge in the early 80s so Vince knew he could do something with him, but Studd retired not long after the rumble if I remember correctly
I REMEMBER MY CHILDHOOD
The bit wherenHakeem falls through the ropes..holy shit that was a botch and I'm in tears!! Hysterical
AKEEM*
Well done lads. I've already seen em all, but they're so good I'll watch em again whenever you upload em.
WWF really dropped the ball with demolition by not adding a third member called Handle.
Man, I won't say it was perfect, but after watching that I can't help but wonder what they could've done if Macho and Bad News had been able to have a longer feud, maybe with a PPV match thrown in there. Both guys just know how to make animosity come across in their work.
Bad News Brown could really go. That was his best match I've seen.
The work was awesome. Brown sold no merchandise. Real talk. Imagine. Bad News Browm in NWO. They didn't market Brown. If He had "cause I fuk yo mama" t-shirts. Like autin 3:16. "You hate me cause I done fukkd yo mama." Who?
On the whole "not taking $#! t" thing mentioned at 34:00, many 80s and 90s heels did, if by taking it you meant being willing to come off as cowardly losers. Macho Man regularly jumped over the top rope to stall outside and even hid behind Liz in his heel days. DiBiase, Flair and others would commonly beg for mercy when cornered, usually after having cheated or shown no mercy themselves. Even Rick Martel if you want to talk about someone who looked immaculate. Everyone who feuded with Brutus ended up with a humiliating haircut. As for silly gimmicks look at The Genius, or Steamboat being just The Dragon, or Owen Hart being the Blue Blazer, and that's just the guys who had talent - I'm not going to bother with the MANY stupid gimmicks from the guys who couldn't cut a promo or do good ring work.
Rude clearly had a better training regimen focused on definition whereas Warrior was going for mass and power.
Cheers
Clearly.
They should have been called The Two Towers so they could claim to be lords of the ring.
Book it
A woefully under appreciated comment. Fair fucks to you, my friend
Haaaa!! 😆
What if it was the original intent but Vince changed it lmao
I'm not sure literary references are perfect for that crowd
In SummerSlam 88 both wear the Mega Powers trunks, at Survivor Series 88, Macho is in full blown Mega Powers gear and Hogan doesn't have it on his trunks, shirt or headband but when Macho wears his orange trunks, it becomes noticed....
TeamNXTFigs 4778 Yes! The SNME where they break up Savage has megapower trunks on but hulk doesn't! Hulk comes out by himself as well @suvivor series, dick! He makes a save during a macho match & they played his music as he did poses. How this selfish out of control ego was the face is beyond me
Man I miss this old wrestling
Wait, Hogan tosses out Savage ... and Savage has to extend his hand 1st? Is there no bottom to Hogan's antics?
The Warrior was supposed to sell the baby oil in his eyes but didn’t. This pissed Rude off that’s why his hit to Warriors head was really stiff. Funny how you said Robins music sounded like some thing Sam Huston would use because Rockin’ Robin and Sam Huston are both siblings and siblings of Jake Roberts and their father was the famous wrestler Grizzly Smith.
Rockin’ Robin with proto biddle music.
She's rocking the female Greg Valentine haircut too
Studd had to be the worse choice to win the rumble ever. It was all about the Mega Powers build. Think it just shows that the rumble was in its early stages and that the outcome of the match didn't mean that much here. Totally agree that Dibiase should have won. Would have kept him hot.
At this time it was as big of a deal as the Andre the Giant Battle Royale they do these days.
Big John studd vs macho at mania 5
🎵 you think you're special, ya do🎵
@@michaelkeller5927 Lol!
DiBiase definitely should have been put over and got the belt. He was great.
I was honestly wanting Bad News Brown to win
Unlike a lot of people nowadays, I do like Hogan and the ideals he represented. But it made no sense to put the focus on him here when Elizabeth got injured. It should have been Macho who freaks out and gets distraught, and maybe blames himself for being the instrument that harmed her, etc. I chuckle at Macho's assholishness, but Macho should be a *lovable* asshole, not a *total* asshole. Elizabeth is his vulnerability. When she actually gets hurt, it should affect him.
And there's your revenge plot. You could build some awesome drama for a followup event around that, and it doesn't even matter if a title is involved.
Hogan can be the level-headed wingman/support guy who backs him up. If Hogan won't do that then get someone else to do it.
I don't understand how they could have missed that opportunity.
Instead they have Macho throw Elizabeth across the room. Great way to ruin the character. What the hell were they thinking?
OOC prefers Lawler to Ventura on commentary? wtf
This was 6 years ago, maybe OOC has realized the error of his ways. :P
Depends on what you like.
The Rumble match could have been much better booked with Roberts in the Studd role. Bossman isn't eliminated and the Twin Towers power through the last part of the match which keeps the heat going. Roberts is out 27 and is left with Dibiase and both the Twin Towers at the end. That my friends would have been an awesome finish. It wouldn't even matter which of Dibiase or Roberts won, everyone's winning with this angle.
How do the towers get eliminated?
jocylean by miscommunication and they eliminate each other.
Yes, this was when Roberts was a face; even if he's still alive, it's unlikely he'll ever win a Rumble *now* (like how sad it is that, this time, Macho Man Randy Savage really never will become champion again, since he lost his title post-August 1992, now that he's deceased).
Roberts was *much better* as a face, than as a heel. I don't know *why* he just decided to change to a heel, in late August 1991, when he was so loved by the fans.
I have caught up on all the reviews and always look forward to more!!!
No one points a finger like savage did
I know the Dusty polka dots thing is known by everyone and the fake Razor and Diesel, Gillberg, Vincent's two names in WCW, but I'm convinced and I don't know if anyone ever confirmed it, but I believe the Red Rooster was Vince taking the piss out of Ric Flair
Thank you for putting this up! Your channel is great. I’ve been eating every video in order over the past three days.
I love seeing V1 marking out about how much he loved the Bushwackers as a kid here to the Bushwackers being apart of the worst matches in OSW history ten years later
I really enjoy your shows lads, really well presented!! LOVE IT! Want more!! Could watch/listen to you guys forever....It's nice that something pro wrestling based is so well presented and entertaining/informative and in general a pleasure to watch coming from my neighboring country, Ireland (excuse the assumption lads, just the accents lead me to do so lol) makes me proud to be 3/4 Irish! Like I said fellas, more reviews please, theyre fookin' shit hot!
3:24 i have to go now. my planet needs me
I appreciate you.
This is the start of the modern Era of OSW.
Duggan’s gimmick was that he was a man with the mind of a toddler. Saying whatever makes the grownups laugh, walking in big stomps with his arms held high. Showing off all his toys.
perfects promo at 32:00 or something listen to when he says Mr Perfect Is where it at
Nice slang :)
Rockin' Robin asked the hair stylist in the back for the Marty Janetty amirite???
Did anyone else notice they put the Big Boss Man closer to the camera in the promo so he would look even bigger.
this is the start of the 27 spot
Rockin' Robin's theme must've been on loan from 'The Benny Hill show'.
Tombola definition
In the United Kingdom, a tombola is a form of raffle in which prizes are pre-assigned to winning tickets
They can easily fix V1’s Rumble pet peeve by just making a rule that once someone has been eliminated, any elimination that person directly or indirectly (ie: pulling down the top rope while someone is running towards it) causes thereafter will not be valid. Of course, the whole reason this spot even exists is so that guys who are booked strong can be eliminated without having to job clean; so while it’s ridiculous in a shoot sense, it makes sense in kayfabe.
Appropriate that Rockin’ Robin’s theme sounds like Sam Houston made it. Sam Houston was Rockin’ Robin’s half brother! Reminder that Robin and Sam are also sister and half brother to Jake Roberts, respectively.
Years later revisiting this storyline, and I'm still fully on Macho's side. Hogan was such a selfish, egotistical prick, not to mention a hypocrite and a sore loser with no honor. And that was just him in character. Randy went a little too far with his anger and jealousy, but he was justified with an antagonist like Hogan.
Then again, as a kid, I always liked Owen more than Bret, so maybe my view is just a tad skewed. lol
Admittedly kid me was always a Hulk kid, but when Macho Man just flung Elizabeth off to the side was very not ok to me.
The character of Hulk Hogan pre-NWO, to me, always kind of acted like if a small child was suddenly a massive muscle man who has to fight other big muscle men. It's like he seems to miss social cues, focus in on weird things, and throws tantrums constantly especially when hit in the face.
Then he joined NWO, which was sort of like this weird massive man baby's teen years where he hung out with the kids who smoke behind the bike sheds.
Not sure if Judy Martin or Greg the Hammer Valentine 🤣 🤣 🤣
Greg the hammer Valentines female haircut vs. Marty Jannety's female haircut?
Judy was lookin good!
Amazing content and review even dozen of years later good mood!
52:25 Yes he did. He could have went after someone else, maybe a heel. Really liked Koko B Ware and his bird gimmick.
Even though I disagree with ur views on a lot of things I still enjoy ur reviews and entertained by them. Keep them coming
Sadly all involved in the posedown are now no longer with us 💔
Judy Martin or Greg Valentine , who wore it better?
bahahhaha rockin robins theme sounds like a song from diddy kong racing on N64
Jim the Anvil played for the Oakland Raiders too.
“So is the hard head gimmick now not just blacks & foreigners but idiots too?” I love you guys!
Wait, did corporate Nintendo claim copyright over a 3 second audio clip of Mario world, right at the start, when it shows the article on Vince being unhappy with clay? 😦
To this day I want to know about the Gruesome Grannies
Has anyone ever seen Judy Martin and Greg The Hammer Valentine in the same room at the same time? Coincidence, I think not.
Macho does slam Liz pretty hard when shes looking over hulk.
Ronnie Garvin's NWA heel gimmick was much better suited to him because of his legitimate background as a tough guy who was good with his hands.
In the NWA he was known as "Hands Of Stone" Ronnie Garvin because he had killer skills with his fists and could legitimately knock people out with one punch.
For some reason vince decided to make him a face and give him a really bland gimmick that would strand him in the lower mid card and passed on a potential main event feud that could have made a lot of money.
Hammerhead547
In the 1980s there was absolutely zero chance of a guy Garvin's size getting a main event program in the WWF.
Mike Jabroni
A Savage/Garvin feud for the IC belt could have drawn pretty well.
Nothing against Garven bc I liked him in the NWA. But he wasn't going to do much in the WWF. Granted they did him wrong when he got there and could have been a solid mid carder and IC champ or at least in the picture. He was real popular b4 the Wwf and its a shame they made him look like a punk in WWF.
@@intrigued16
They only brought him in too keep him away from JCP.
In kayfabe when it comes to tag teams coming in right after each other, at least for the heels I could see them finding the wrestler w/ the number they need backstage and either stealing his number or beating him for it.
28:59 that kick looks brutal doesnt look even slightly fake/pulled in fact it wouldnt shock if Vince wanted Harley Race to leave and had Haku expedite the decision making process by giving Harley Race the worst concussion of his life..
Yeesh! The Way Macho LAUNCHES Liz across that room.
Funny at the very end when Savage put the belt on upside down. Just like Sheik when he beat hogan.
Warrior lucky this wasn't a year later. Rick rude was ridiculous in 1990.. (that's the least gay as I could possibly put it)
50:00 that wasn't Jannetty doing the Undertaker thing. I also read that comment years ago but MJ himself said it was someone else. Brian Lee maybe ? not sure
